“Successful people are not gifted; they just work hard, and then succeed on purpose.” G.K. Nelson.

The aforementioned quote best describes Mr. Damien James Robinson I. If you have ever seen what it means to participate in a labor of love, it would truly be through the life of Damien. A very defining moment in his life occurred when he decided to pursue his Law Degree as a full-time student, simultaneously working as a full-time police officer. He challenged the belief of one of his professors who adamantly told him, that what he was trying to accomplish was impossible and had never been done before. Needless to say, his love and passion for his work drove him to do the impossible; he certainly worked hard and succeeded on purpose.

Damien succeeded by graduating and continued to excel in many areas. Although having travelled extensively around the world, receiving numerous certificates and awards on various training courses and sitting at the tables of diverse groups of leaders, one thing has always remained the same; his humility and endearing personality, that allowed him to see, believe and empathize with the common man and his willingness to roll up his sleeve and do the work. He is a philanthropist in his own right.

Damien James Robinson I, was born June 3rd, 1974 on the island of New Providence. He began his early education at Stephen Dillet Primary School and continued his secondary education, graduating from Kingsway Academy. Damien always had a heart to serve, and it is no surprise that the path he took would lead to him serving the citizens of his country. On July 1, 1994, he joined the Royal Bahamas Police Force and it was then that his focus became more defined and his passion for policing became a reality. Being the person that he is, he knew that in addition to hard work, a conscientious effort to pursue higher education was inevitable and played a pivotal role in the advancement of his career.

He furthered his education at the Bahamas Baptist Community College earning an Associate of Arts Degree in Law & Criminal Justice, completed his Bachelor of Laws at the University of West Indies, and earned his Legal Education Certificate at the Eugene Dupuch Law School. In October 2007 he was called to the Bahamas Bar as a Counsel & Attorney-at-Law and Notary Public.

Knowing that family life was an integral part of the moral fabric of society, especially as it pertains to law and order, Damien along with being focused on his career goals and aspirations balanced life almost effortlessly with his wife and three children. He believed in practicing what he preached by striving to be an exemplary role model to young men in particular. Having this belief, with his core values of family life being hinged around biblical convictions, Damien was ordained as a Deacon in his church family of Mekaddish Ministries Incorporated.

In bringing more balance to his life he engages in many extracurricular sporting activities as an avid softball player, playing competitively on two softball teams and recreational basketball.

During his time on the Police Force Damien also worked as a Legal Intern at the Attorney General’s Office and a Tutor/Pupil at the Eugene Dupuch Law School Legal Aid Clinic. As his hard work and consistent efforts to excel did not go unnoticed he has worked in various areas of the Police Force affording him the opportunities to learn every aspect of policing. In his early career he worked in Abaco and later on gained experience in areas of Central Police Station, Cable Beach Police Station, Tourism Patrol Unit, Internal Security Division, Mobile Patrol Division, Security & Intelligence Branch, Human Resources, and 5 years as Staff Officer/Executive Assistant to Commissioner of Police Ellison Greenslade. As Superintendent he was the Officer in Charge of the Mobile Division and the Northeastern Division (Wulff Road Police Station). As a Chief Superintendent of Police he commanded the Operational Command Division from 2020 to 2022, dual Command as the Director of Training at the Police Training College and the Officer in Charge of the Eastern Division (Elizabeth Estates Police Station), Officer in Charge of the Central Division and the Officer in Charge of the Internal Security Division and National Parade Commander. On December 11, 2023, he was elevated to the Rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police with responsibilities for Saturation Patrols, Operations & National Events.
Damien has successfully completed various Domestic and International training courses throughout the United States of America, South America, and Caribbean Regions. Such training courses include but are not limited to:-
