Police have launched investigations into two recent Homicides

Detectives on the island of New Providence are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of two males which occurred in separate incidents on Saturday 10th, July 2021.

In the first incident, preliminary reports are that shortly before 7:00 a.m., police were alerted to a shooting incident that occurred on Palmetto Road, Sunset Park. On the arrival of the first responding officers, they met a male lying in the street with wounds consistent with gunshots. Emergency Medical Services visited the scene and pronounce the victim lifeless. Investigations into this matter continues.

In the second incident, preliminary reports are that shortly after 9:00 p.m. police were called to a shooting incident that occurred in Ridgeland Park West. Officers responded and on their arrival, they found a male lying in the parking lot of an apartment complex situated on Berkley Street with wounds consistent with gunshots. Emergency Medical Services visited the scene and pronounce the victim lifeless. Investigations into this matter continues.

Police are investigating a Traffic Fatality

Preliminary reports are that sometime after 9:00 p.m., police were called to a traffic collision that occurred on the Airport Industrial Park Drive involving a pedestrian and a vehicle. On the arrival of the first responding officers, they met a dark male lying in the street unresponsive. Emergency Medical Services visited the scene and following their examination the male was pronounced lifeless. Initial investigation revealed that the driver of a black Sport Utility Vehicle was travelling south on Airport Development Road, when he struck a pedestrian. The Traffic Department will continue investigation into this matter.
