POLICE ARE INVESTIGATING A SHOOTING INCIDENT
Police on the island of New Providence are investigating a shooting incident which occurred on Thursday 14th, January 2021.

Preliminary reports are that shortly before 8:00 p.m. police received reports of the sound of gun shots in the area of East Avenue off Carmichael Road. Officers responded and on their arrival at the scene, investigations reveal that two males were repairing a vehicle, when the occupants of a small vehicle approached them and discharged a firearm in their direction, injuring one of the males. The victim was transported to the hospital via private vehicle. He is listed in critical condition. Investigation into this matter continues.

POLICE ARRESTED TWO MALE SUSPECTS FOR POSSESSION OF ILLEGAL FIREARM AND AMMUNITION
The proactive crime fighting strategies employed by the Royal Bahamas Police Force have resulted in the arrest of two males for possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition on Thursday 14th, and Friday 15th, January 2021.

Preliminary reports are that shortly after 6:00 p.m., an Operations Unit where on routine mobile patrol in the community of Burial Ground Corner, when they noticed the occupant of a gray Honda Civic who committed a traffic infraction. The vehicle was stopped, as the offender exited he was observed throwing an object under the vehicle. A field search was conducted and as a result a plastic bag was found under the vehicle. On inspection of the bag, it contained (7) unfired rounds of 9mm ammunition. The male was arrested and taken into custody. Investigations into this matter continue.

In the second incident, the preliminary facts are that shortly after 1:00 a.m. on Friday 15th, January 2021, acting on intelligence officers from the Operations Unit went to Commonwealth Boulevard, Elizabeth Estate. While there the officers stopped a vehicle fitting the description given, it was being driven by a male. A field search was conducted and as a result the officers found a black and brown Draco High powered rifle with (11) 7.62 unfired rounds of ammunition, which was concealed in the vehicle. The suspect was arrested and taken into custody. Investigation into this matter continue.

In the third incident preliminary reports indicate that shortly after 2:00 a.m., officers from the Operations Unit went to an unoccupied building located on Rosetta Street. While there, they conducted a search and as a result, the officers found a quantity of suspected marijuana and a black Glock Austria .40 pistol. No arrest was made during this incident. Investigation into this matter continues.

POLICE DISCOVERED DANGEROUS DRUGS
The proactive crime fighting strategies employed by the Royal Bahamas Police Force have resulted in the arrest of a male for possession of dangerous drugs on Thursday 14th, January 2021.

Preliminary reports indicate that shortly before 9:00 a.m., officers while on routine patrols in the area of Guyana Court, observed a male who upon seeing the police fled. A chase ensued, as he attempted to jump a fence an object fell from his waist. The suspect was caught, and a plastic bag was retrieved from the ground. An inspection of the bag revealed a quantity of suspected marijuana. The suspect was arrested and taken into custody, Investigations into this matter continues.
