POLICE INVESTIGATES THE LATEST HOMICIDE
Police on the island of New Providence are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a male which occurred on Tuesday 2nd, February 2021.

Preliminary reports are that shortly after 6:00 p.m., police received reports of a stabbing incident that occurred on Palm Tree Avenue and Fifth Street. Officers responded and on their arrival, they met a male lying in the street unresponsive. Emergency Medical Services were summoned and on completion of their examination, the body was pronounced lifeless.

Initial investigations revealed that a traffic accident occurred at the intersection of Fifth Street and Palm Tree Avenue involving two vehicles. As a result, a physical altercation ensued between the occupants of both vehicles. During the exchange, one of the males received what appears to be stabbed wounds and succumbed to his injuries. Her Majesty's Coroner visited the scene and was appraised. Investigations into this matter continue.

POLICE ARRESTED SIX MALE SUSPECTS FOR POSSESSION OF UNLICENSED FIREARMS AND AMMUNITION
The proactive strategies implemented by the Royal Bahamas Police Force have once again resulted in the discovery and removal of three firearms and a quantity of ammunition, in separate incidents from the streets of New Providence, on Tuesday 2nd, February 2021.

In the first incident, preliminary reports state that shortly before 1:00 a.m., while on routine mobile patrols on Kemp Road. Officers from the Operations Unit observed a parked vehicle that aroused their suspicion. The vehicle was approached, and two males were found seated inside. The males were ordered out of the vehicle. As the passenger exited the vehicle, a black pistol dropped from his jacket. It was found to contain (8) eight unfired rounds of 9mm ammunition. A search of the second male uncovered a black pistol with a drum magazine which contained (37) thirty-seven unfired rounds of .40 ammunition. The suspects were arrested and taken into custody. Investigations into this matter continue

In a second incident, shortly before 12:00 noon, officers from the Drug Enforcement and K9 Unit acting on information went to Wrights Lane, Fox Hill. On their arrival, they observed a group of male standing in the street. A field search was carried out, as a result the officers found a quantity of suspected marijuana, (3) three .45 unfired rounds of ammunition, (12) twelve 7.62 unfired rounds of ammunition, a silver pistol containing (11) eleven unfired rounds of ammunitions in the trunk of a vehicle. Four adult male suspects were arrested and taken into custody. Investigations into this matter continue.

POLICE DISCOVERS DANGEROUS DRUGS ONE MALE ARRESTED
The proactive strategies of the Royal Bahamas Police Force have once again resulted in the discovery and removal of dangerous drugs in separate incidents from the streets of New Providence on Tuesday 2nd, February 2021.

In the first incident, preliminary reports are that shortly after 9:00 a.m., acting on information officers from the Operations and K9 Unit went to a bushy area on Dorsett Street Fox Hill. A search was conducted by the Police Dog who alerted its handler to a bag. An inspection of the bag revealed a quantity of suspected marijuana. No arrest was made during this incident.

In the second incident, while on mobile patrol on Thompson Lane shortly before 11:00 a.m., officers from the Operations Unit notice a male who was standing next to a vehicle. The male then looked in the direction of the officers, he was observed throwing an object under the vehicle. The officers approached the suspect and conducted a search of the area. As a result, a bag was discovered containing suspected marijuana. The suspect was arrested and taken into custody. Investigations into this matter continue.

POLICE ARRESTED A MALE SUSPECT FOR ARMED ROBBERY

Preliminary reports state that shortly after 3:00 p.m., Police Control Room alerted units in the area of Charles Saunders Highway of an Armed Robbery in progress. As a result, a nearby unit responded and as it approached the scene, the officers observed a male suspect fitting the description walking along the highway. When the suspect saw the police, he ran in an eastern direction; the officers pursued the culprit on foot. One of the officers noticed when the suspect threw an object in the rear of a residence.

The suspect was eventually caught and was taken to the residence where the object was thrown. The officers found a black pistol on the premises, it contained (1) one unfired round of ammunition. A concerned citizen directed the officers to an area where the suspect dropped a magazine. The item was collected and was found to contain (8) eight unfired rounds of ammunition. The suspect was arrested and taken into custody. Investigations into this matter are ongoing.
