Police are investigating the latest Homicide

Detectives on the island of New Providence are investigating the events surrounding the death of a male that occurred on Sunday 19th, December 2021.

Preliminary reports are that shortly before 10:00 p.m., Police were called to a shooting incident that occurred on East Avenue, Millers Heights. Units were dispatched and on their arrival at the scene. They were directed to the body of an adult male lying in the parking lot of an apartment building unresponsive. The officers made a check of the body and discovered wounds consistent with a gunshot. Emergency Medical Services visited the scene and pronounced the victim lifeless.

Initial investigations revealed that the victim was outside his neighbor’s residence when a male approached him and discharged a firearm in his direction, hitting about the body, fatally wounding him. The suspect made good his escape north along East Avenue. This matter remains under active investigation.

Police are investigating a shooting incident

Preliminary reports are that shortly before 10:00 a.m., on Sunday 19th, December 2021. Police were alerted to a shooting incident that occurred in Bozine Town. Officers responded and on their arrival, they met an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. He informed the officers that he was involved in an argument with his girlfriend, during which her son produced a firearm and shot him. The victim was transported to the hospital and is listed in stable condition. The suspect was arrested and a firearm was also recovered. This matter remains under active investigation

Police advisory to holders of Licensed Firearms

The Firearms Licensing Authority wishes to remind the holders of licensed firearms that the 2022 licensing period commences on 1st of November 2021. The fee for shotguns is $150 and $300 for rifles. Licensed holders are also reminded that a late fee of $50 begins on 15th January 2022.
