Police are investigating a shooting incident

Preliminary reports are that shortly before 7:00 p.m. on Monday 13th, December 2021 police were alerted to the sounds of gunshots on Ross Corner by the Shot Spotter technology. Officers responded and on their arrival at the scene, they were informed that a male was standing in front of his residence. When he was approached by a male who exited a small Japanese vehicle armed with a firearm. The suspect then discharged the weapon at the victim injuring him about his upper body. The victim was transported to the hospital in a private vehicle where his condition is listed as stable. Investigation into this matter continues.

Police are investigating a Police involved shooting

Preliminary reports are, shortly before 1:00 a.m. on Tuesday 14th, December 2021 officers were on routine patrols in the area of Mermaid Boulevard, Golden Gates, when they observed a silver Mercedes jeep that aroused their suspicion. The driver was beckoned to stop, but declined to do so and sped off. A chase ensued and later ended on Cox Way.

As the officers approached the vehicle from behind, the driver was instructed to exit the vehicle. They then notice the vehicle was reversing towards them. Being aware of the threat against their lives, the officers discharged their service weapon in the direction of the vehicle. It came to a stop, an inspection of the vehicle revealed a juvenile male who was suffering from gunshot wounds to the buttocks. The suspect was transported to the hospital via Emergency Medical Services and is listed in stable condition, investigations into this matter continue.

Police advisory to holders of Licensed Firearms

The Firearms Licensing Authority wishes to remind the holders of licensed firearms that the 2022 licensing period commences on 1st of November 2021. The fee for shotguns is $150 and $300 for rifles. Licensed holders are also reminded that a late fee of $50 begins on 15th January 2022.
