Police are investigating a recent Homicide

Detectives on the island of New Providence are investigating the events surrounding the death of an adult male that occurred on Tuesday 7th, December 2021.

Preliminary reports are that shortly before 9:00 a.m., on Tuesday 7th, December 2021. Officers were dispatched to a shooting incident that occurred on Spence Street. While en-route to the scene, they observed a truck being driven at a high rate of speed. The officers stopped the vehicle and observed a male in the trucks’ bed suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to the hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. Investigations revealed that the male was on Spence Street along with others, when a small vehicle approached them and an occupant discharged a firearm that struck him about the body several times. Investigation into this matter continues.

Police recovered an Unlicensed firearm

Preliminary reports are that shortly after 10:00 p.m., on Tuesday 7th, December 2021. Officers from the Western Division while in the area of Tropical Gardens observed four males fighting. As an officer approached them, he noticed when an object fell from the waist of one of the males as they all ran off. While searching the area where the objects fell, a pistol was found containing (3) three unfired rounds of ammunition. No arrest was made during this incident. Investigation into this matter continues

Police advisory to holders of Licensed Firearm

The Firearms Licensing Authority wishes to remind the holders of licensed firearms that the 2022 licensing period commences on 1st of November 2021. The fee for shotguns is $150 and $300 for rifles. Licensed holders are also reminded that a late fee of $50 begins on 15th January 2022.
