Police have launched an investigation into the latest homicide

Detectives on the island of New Providence are investigating the events that led to the death of an adult male on Thursday 2nd, December 2021.

Preliminary information is that sometime around 12:20 p.m., police were alerted to a shooting incident that occurred on Second Street, Coconut Grove. Officers were dispatched, on their arrival, they were informed that a male was shot several times about his body and was transported to the hospital in a private vehicle. Officers later made a check of the victim’s condition at the hospital and were informed that he succumbed to his injuries. Investigations into this matter continue.

Police are investigating a shooting incident

Preliminary reports are that shortly after 7:00 p.m., on Thursday 2nd, December 2021. Police were alerted to the sounds of gunshots on Hospital Lane by Shot Spotter technology. Officers were dispatched, and on their arrival at the scene, they were informed that an adult male received gunshot wounds to his upper body. He was transported to the hospital in a private vehicle. The victim’s condition at this time is listed as serious. This matter remains under active investigation.

The Fire Department is investigating a structural fire at the Bahamas Power and Light Clifton Pier site

Preliminary reports are that shortly before 2:00 a.m., on Friday 3rd December 2021. The Fire department was alerted to a structural fire at the Bahamas Power and Light Clifton Pier site. The Fire units were dispatched and on their arrival, they met a large fuel tank engulfed in flames. The flames were contained and later extinguished. An assessment of the surrounding area was conducted. The officers confirmed that there were no lives lost, nor did anyone sustain injuries as a result of the fire. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, this matter remains under active investigation.

Police advisory to holders of Licensed Firearm

The Firearms Licensing Authority wishes to remind the holders of licensed firearms that the 2022 licensing period commences on 1st of November 2021. The fee for shotguns is $150 and $300 for rifles. Licensed holders are also reminded that a late fee of $50 begins on January 15th, 2022.
