Police are investigating a shooting incident

Detectives on the island of New Providence are investigating a shooting incident that occurred on Saturday 9th October 2021.

Preliminary reports are that shortly after 9:00 p.m., police received information that a male was shot on Stack Avenue, Nassau Village. Officers were dispatched, and on their arrival they found a male suffering from injuries consistent with gun shots. He was transported to the hospital via Emergency Medical Services. His condition is listed as serious.

Initial investigations revealed that the victim was walking along stark Avenue, when he was approached by occupants in a small Japanese vehicle. They fired several shots at him, hitting him about his body before fleeing the scene. Police have arrested an adult male, who is assisting with the investigation of this incident.

Police arrested a male for possession of an Unlicensed firearm and ammunition

Preliminary reports are that shortly after 7:00 p.m., officers on the island of Eleuthera executed a search warrant on a residence located in the settlement of South Palmetto Point. During the search, officers found a pistol containing a magazine with (9) nine unfired rounds of ammunition. An adult male was arrested and taken into custody in connection with this discovery. Investigations into this matter continue.
