Police arrested a male suspect for the Cultivation of Marijuana plants

The proactive approach employed by the Royal Bahamas Police Force have resulted in officers on the island of Andros arresting a male suspect for the Cultivation of Marijuana Plants on Thursday 2 September 2021.

Preliminary reports are that shortly before 5:00 p.m., acting on information and armed with a search warrant, officers from the South Andros Police Station went to a residence in the settlement of Little Creek. On their arrival, they met a male occupant who was informed of their reason for being at the residence. The officers then conducted a search of the property and as a result they discovered (41) suspected Marijuana plants. The male was arrested and taken into custody. The suspected drugs have an estimated street value of $5,000. Investigations into this matter continue.

Police have launched investigations into two shooting incidents

Police on the island of New Providence are investigating two shooting incidents that occurred on Friday 3 September 2021.

In the first incident, preliminary reports are that shortly after 9:00 p.m., a female was parked outside a residence situated on Dunmore Street. When two male occupants of a motorcycle rode up to the residence. One of the suspects walked up to the vehicle and discharged a firearm in her direction. This resulted in her being struck about the body multiple times. Emergency Medical Services transported the victim to the hospital. She is listed in serious condition. Investigations into this matter continue.

In the second incident, preliminary reports are that shortly before 11:00 p.m., a male was on St. James Road, when he was approached by the occupants of a gray jeep. One of the males produced a handgun and robbed him of cash and other personal items. The gunman then shot the victim before fleeing the scene. The victim was transported to the hospital in a private vehicle. His condition is not known at this time.
