POLICE INVESTIGATES A SHOOTING INCIDENT
Police on the island of New Providence are investigating a shooting incident that occurred on Friday 1st, January 2021 and resulted in a male being detained in hospital.

Preliminary reports are that shortly before 9:00 p.m., police were alerted to the sounds of gunshots on Milton Street. A unit responded, and on their arrival they met an adult male suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. He was transported to the hospital via a private vehicle. Inquiries revealed that the victim was involved in an altercation with another male and was shot as a result. Investigations into this matter continue.

POLICE ARRESTED TWO MALE SUSPECTS FOR POSSESSION OF UNLICENSED FIREARM
The proactive strategies employed by the Royal Bahamas Police Force have resulted in the discovery and removal of several firearms in separate incidents from the streets of New Providence on Friday 1st, January 2021.

In the first incident, preliminary reports are that shortly before 10:00 a.m., officers from the Operations Unit, while armed with a search warrant went to a residence situated on Hamilton Street off Kemp Road. While there, they conducted a search in the presence of a male occupant. As a result of the search, the officers found a black Austria 9mm pistol with (9) unfired rounds of ammunition. The male was arrested and taken into custody. Investigations into this matter continue.

In a second incident, preliminary reports are that shortly before 6:00 p.m., officers from the operation Unit acting on information proceeded to Goggle Eye Road. On their arrival, they met a male at the rear of the residence. A field search was conducted and as a result the officers removed a black Smith and Wesson .40 pistol containing (8) unfired round of ammunition from the suspect. He was arrested and taken into custody. Investigations into this matter continues.
