REPORT LOST OR STOLEN PROPERTY


The Royal Bahamas Police Force accepts reports of lost property with the hope of returning items to their rightful owners. Still, if you have lost your government-issued piece of identification or licence plate, it is important to report the lost property to the neaerest police station as soon as possible.


Similarly, if you've lost a bank card, it is important to report the missing card to your bank immediately to help deter crime.

Government-Issued Documents
Have you lost a piece of government-issued identification, or immigration documentation? Report it to the appropriate institution as soon as possible to prevent identity theft.

Driver's Licence
Drivers Licences are issued by the Road Traffic Department. A report from your police station will be needed to receive a new one from the Department

If your identification, immigration documents or other government-issued documentation was lost or stolen, you should also file a Lost or Stolen Document Report at your nearest policing station.

Passports
All lost Bahamian and foreign passports should be reported immediatley. If your passport was stolen, you should file a report at your nearest policing station.

National Insurance (NIB) Cards
Lost or stolen SNIB cards should be reported immediatly. The National Insurance Board will only issue a new card upon presentation of a police report.

Licence Plates and Discs
Licence plates are issued by the Road Traffic Department. Have you lost your licence plate or have it been stolen? Report it immediately.

Property
Lost property can be reported to your nearest police station, with the hope of returning lost items to their rightful owners.


IMPORTANT!!!
Before reporting lost property to police, consider contacting friends, family members, business owners, employees etc. who may have been present when your property was lost, or may otherwise know the whereabouts of your lost property.

Some reports will take between 24 hours and 3 months to complete based on the completion of the investigations.
