FIREARM CONFISCATION LEADS TO ARREST

A 32-year-old male is in police custody following a firearm seizure by officers from the Mobile Division on Thursday, August 29, 2024.

According to preliminary reports, around 1:30 a.m. officers were patrolling Rosedale Street when they observed a male acting suspiciously. The officers, after detaining him, conducted a thorough search, where they discovered a firearm with a quantity of ammunition on his person, which led to his arrest.

Investigations continue.

POLICE INVESTIGATE DOUBLE SHOOTING

Two (2) men are hospitalized in critical condition following a shooting incident that occurred on Young Street on Wednesday, August 28, 2024.

Police were alerted to reports of gunshots being discharged on Young Street around 11:30 p.m. and promptly responded. Upon their arrival, they found a 29-year-old male lying in the street suffering from apparent gunshot injuries to his upper body and requested emergency medical services, who subsequently transported the victim to the hospital.

While at the hospital, officers discovered another victim, a 27-year-old male, who had sustained gunshot wounds to his upper body and right extremities. He had been taken to the hospital in a private vehicle prior to the arrival of the police.

According to preliminary reports, both victims were standing on Young Street when two (2) unknown males, one of whom was armed with a firearm, approached them and fired multiple gunshots in their direction, resulting in them being shot. The culprits fled the area on foot, making good on their escape.

STOLEN VEHICLE ALERT

Police seek the public’s assistance in locating the following vehicles that were reported stolen on Wednesday, August 28, 2024:

  1. A burgundy 2014 Nissan Cube L/P #AZ3905 – stolen from Orange Blossom in Garden Hills #2.
  2. A gray 2014 Nissan Cube L/P #SN7618 – stolen from Murphyville in Palmdale.
  3. A silver 2014 Nissan Note – stolen from Carmichael Road.
  4. A brown 2012 Nissan Cube L/P #AW4000 – stolen from Golden Isles Road off Carmichael Road.

STOLEN VESSEL ALERT

Police in Grand Bahama are seeking the public's assistance in locating a 26-foot white Scarab boat with one (1) Mercury 300 HP outboard engine that was stolen on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, and moored in waters off Kings Road.

NEW PROVIDENCE

SUSPECT ARRESTED AFTER STABBING INCIDENT

Police are questioning a 37-year-old male in connection with a stabbing incident that occurred around 11:00 p.m. on Wednesday 28th August, 2024.

Initial reports indicate that the 37-year-old suspect was involved in an altercation with a male relative at a residence on Forge Avenue in Joan's Heights. It is reported that during the altercation he produced a sharp instrument and stabbed the male relative multiple times to the upper body. Police arrested him shortly after the incident.

The victim, aged 24, was taken to the hospital in a private vehicle for medical attention, where he is currently listed in stable condition. Investigations are ongoing.

POLICE RAID LEADS TO DRUG SEIZURE AND ARRESTS

Through a collaborative effort between officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit and the Police K-9 Unit, a quantity of suspected dangerous drugs was confiscated and two homeowners were arrested on Wednesday 28th August, 2024.

According to initial reports, officers, acting on information, executed a search warrant at a residence on Coral Boulevard near Coral Harbour Road around 7:00 a.m. As a result of a comprehensive search of both the interior and exterior of the property, police found a quantity of suspected psilocybin mushrooms enclosed in multiple jar containers and subsequently arrested the two homeowners, a 34-year-old male and a 32-year-old female, both natives of the Netherlands.

Further investigations into this matter will be conducted by the Drug Enforcement Unit.

MEDIA COVERAGE REQUEST

Police wish to inform that on Friday, August 30th, 2024, the Second Chance Program will host a graduating ceremony at 11:00 a.m. to celebrate the candidates who have successfully completed the program. This event is a collaboration between the Royal Bahamas Police Force, Ministry of National Security, and Ministry of Education.

This program is dedicated to promoting positive youth engagement and aims to redirect at-risk students away from engaging in anti-social and criminal behaviors.

In attendance will be the Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas, the Hon. Phillip Davis K.C., along with Ministers: Hon. Wayne Munroe, Hon. Glenys Hanna-Martin, and Hon. Mario Bowleg.

Media coverage is kindly requested for the ceremony, which will be at the Paul Farquharson Conference Center, Police Headquarters.
