The Driving Under the Influence of Drugs and Alcohol Unit


The Driving Under the Influence of Alcoholic or Drugs Unit (DUIAD) of the Royal Bahamas Police Force was formed in January 2009, within the Police Traffic Division. There are ten officers assigned to this Unit. This unit falls under the remit of Inspector Eugene Strachan.

Officers attached to this unit along with twenty other Officers from Other divisions, of the Force inclusive of Grand Bahama were successfully trained by the Miami Dade Police Department in Miami Florida, including personnel’s from the Manufacturing Company Draeger company, who supply the equipments which will be used during our operations.

The tester we will be used when the programme is implemented.
The instrument that will be used is the Alco test 6810 Breath Alcohol Tester.

In The Bahamas the legal limit for breath alcohol content is 0.06%
If found to be over 0.06% you can be arrested and fined $3,000 of spend time in prison.
