Who are Police Officers?
A police officer (also known as a policeman or policewoman and sometimes constable), is a contracted employee of a police force. Police officers are mandated by law for the maintenance of law and order, preservation of peace, prevention and detection of crime, apprehension of offender and enforcement of all laws through partnerships with citizens, residents and visitors.
The Royal Bahamas Police Force employs approximately 3000 sworn police members and more than 300 public servants in a range of challenging roles and duties.
