Commissioner Anthony Ferguson Unveils his 2018 Policing Plan and provides Crime Statistics During Meet the Press

Commissioner of Police Anthony Ferguson gathered with members of the media today while at the Paul H. Farquharson Centre as he revealed the Force's most recent crime statistics for 2017.
According to preliminary statistics read by Commissioner Ferguson, the country's overall serious crimes decreased by 13%, compared to 2016. Violent crimes decreased by 20%, while crimes against the property decreased by 11%. More specifically, overall crimes in New Providence and Grand Bahama decreased by 14 and 26% respectively.
On the other hand, crimes in Family Islands increased by 6%, notably; this increase is attributed to a rise in burglary complaints.
Commissioner Ferguson also thanked members of the Force who he said sacrificed daily and put their lives on the line.
