Consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Priorities, police seized two illegal firearms off the streets of New Providence in separate incidents on Sunday 8th January 2017.

One man was taken into custody. In the first incident, shortly after 8:00pm, officers from the Firearm Tracing and Investigations Unit were on routine patrol on Potters Cay Dock, when they accosted a man who aroused their suspicion. The man was searched and a .40 pistol containing one live round of ammunition was found in his possession. The man was subsequently taken into custody and will appear in court later this week to be formally charged.

The second seizure, which occurred shortly after 10:00 pm officers from the Firearm Tracing and Investigations Unit on routine patrol acting on intelligence, conducted a search of an area outside a building located at St. James Road, where they uncovered a .45 pistol containing 2 live rounds of ammunition. No one was arrested for this seizure.
