7 SUSPECTS TO BE ARRAIGN IN COURT FOR MURDER

Police are please to report that as a result of unwavering commitment and dedication to duty by officers of the Royal Bahamas Police Force, seven (7) suspects will be arraign in the Magistrate's Court on Monday 13th February 2017 at 12:00noon to be formally charged with Murder.

The suspects are:

  • A 22 year old male of Second Street, Coconut Grove for the Murder of Jameko Ash
  • A 22 year old male of Williams Lane for the Murder of Ricardo Fawkes
  • A 26 year old male of King Street for the Murder of Loucious Gustave
  • A 25 year old male of Town Court Street and a 22 year old male of Ludlow Street for the Murder of Kurt Ariste
  • A 26 year old male of Pinedale and a 19 year old maleof Ida Street for the Murder of Benjamin Anderson

8 SUSPECTS TO BE ARRAIGN IN COURT ON A NUMBER OF SERIOUS

Police are also please to report that as a result of unwavering commitment and dedication to duty by officers of the Royal Bahamas Police Force, eight (8) suspects will be arraign in the Magistrate's Court on Monday 13th February 2017 at 11:00am to be formally charge witha number of serious offenses.

The suspects are:

  • A 23 year old male of Willow Tree Street and a 19 year old maleof Moonshine Drive for Attempted Armed Robbery and Attempted Abduction
  • A 27 year old male of Cargill Creek, Andros for Rape & Human Trafficking
  • A 30 year old male of Brougham Street for Assault With a Deadly Weapon
  • A 26 year old male of Seven Hills for Stealing and Receiving
  • A 31 year old male of Avocado Street and a 30 year old male of Avocado Street forPossession of a Firearm & Ammunition
  • A 29 year old male of Peter Street for Assault With a Deadly Weapon

HANDGUN SEIZED

Consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Plan for 2017, a handgun was seized on Sunday 12th February 2017, by officers from the Mobile Division.

Reports are that shortly after 7:00pm, Mobile officers were on routine patrol on Thompson Lane off East Street, where they saw a group of males standing in front of a home. Two of the males on seeing the officers fled on foot. The officers gave chase and saw when one of the males threw a handgun to the ground. The officers were unable to catch the two males. The handgun was discovered to be a .380 pistol.

Investigations are ongoing.

POLICE APPEAL FOR INFORMATION IN SHOOTING DEATH

The police are also appealing to the public for information to assist in their investigations into a shooting incident that has left a man dead on Sunday 12th February 2017.

According to reports, shortly after 8:00pm, a male was standing outside of his home located on Derby Road, Yellow Elder Gardens, when two males armed with handguns approached and shot him before fleeing on foot. The man was pronounced dead on the scene.

Investigations are ongoing.

SUSPECT WHO SHOT TWO POLICE OFFICERS NOW IN CUSTODY

Police took into custody an adult male suspect responsible for a shooting incident that has left two Police Officers detained in hospital on Sunday 12th February 2017.

Reports are that shortly after 12:00midnight, a male and a female police officer responded to a domestic incident at a home located in Valentine Subdivision off Johnson Terrace. While at the home, a man arm with a shotgun approached and shot both of them. The officers returned fire but the suspect was able to flee in a vehicle. The two officers were taken to hospital where they remain in stable condition.

Shortly after 4:00am this morning Police arrested the suspect who was suffering gun shot wounds. Police also recovered a shotgun from the suspect. The suspect is detained in hospital under heavy police guard.

AMERICAN MALE AMONG FOUR IN CUSTODY FOR LARGE AMMUNITION SEIZURE DURING POLICE OPERATION

Consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Plan for 2017, 78 live rounds of ammunition was seized on Friday 10th February 2017, by officers from the Firearms Tracing and Investigation Unit during an operation in Nassau Village.

Reports are that shortly after 5:00pm, Firearms Tracing and Investigation Unit executed a search warrant on a home located at Wilson Street, Nassau Village, where they uncovered 50 live rounds of .40 ammunition, 26 live rounds of .380 ammunition and 2 live rounds of .9 millimeter ammunition.

An American male and a Bahamian Male along with two Bahamian females were taken into custody in connection the find.

SHOTGUN SEIZED

Consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Plan for 2017, a shotgun was seized on Saturday 11th February 2017, by officers from the Southwestern Division.

Reports are that shortly after 10:00pm, Southwestern Division officers acting on information went to a park in Flamingo Gardens, where they uncovered a shotgun behind a building.

No one was arrested in connection with thie find.

MAN DIES IN TRAFFIC ACCIDENT

Officers from the Police Traffic Department are investigating a traffic accident that has left a man dead and another detained in hospital on Saturday 11th February 2017.

Reports are that shortly after 5:00pm, a man was travelling east on JFK Drive near Westridge in a 1997 Geo Tracker Jeep along with a male passenger, when he collided into a signage post and lost control of his vehicle that flipped over crashing into another signage post. The passenger was pronounced dead on the scene. The driver was taken to hospital where his condition is listed as stable.

Investigations are ongoing.

POLICE APPEAL FOR INFORMATION IN TWO SHOOTINGS

The police are also appealing to the public for information to assist in their investigations into two separate shooting incidents that has left a man dead and two others detained in hospital on Saturday 11th February 2017.

In the first incident, shortly after 10:00pm, a group of persons were attending a party on Deans Street, when the occupants of a blue self drive vehicle pulled up and fired several shots into the crowd before speeding off. Two males were shot and taken to hospital; one is in stable condition and the other succumbed to his injury.

Then shortly after 11:00pm, a male was standing outside of his home located on Graham Drive, Yellow Elder Gardens, when the occupants of a white Nissan vehicle pulled up and shot him before speeding off. The man was pronounced dead on the scene.

Police are actively investigating these two incidents and have launched and island-wide manhunt for the suspects responsible.
