ILLEGAL FIREARM AND AMMUNITION SEIZED BY SELECTIVE ENFORCEMENT TEAM

Sometime around 2:00pm on Sunday 5th February 2017, Officers from the Selective Enforcement Team, were on routine patrol when they observed a group of men standing on Kingston Street off Kemp Road, who aroused their suspicion. The officers then saw when one of the males took an object wrapped in a piece of clothing from his waist and threw it to the ground. The officers retrieved the object from the ground and found it to be an Austria Pistol containing thirteen (13) live rounds of ammunition.

All of the males were subsequently taken into custody for questioning.

POLICE APPEAL FOR INFORMATION IN TWO SHOOTINGS
Police are also appealing to the public for information to assist in their investigations into two separate shooting incidents that occurred on Saturday 4th February 2017.

In the first incident, shortly before 9:00pm, a man was playing a game of dominoes with a group of men outside a local club located on Faith Avenue South and St. Vincent Road, when a male armed with a handgun approached and shot him before speeding off in a dark vehicle. The victim was pronounced dead on the scene.

Then shortly after 10:00pm, a man was standing on Washington Street, when a male armed with a handgun approached and shot him before fleeing on foot. The victim was transported to hospital where he is detained in stable condition.

Police are actively investigating these two incidents and have launched and island-wide manhunt for the suspects responsible.
