DEFENSE FORCE OFFICER AMONG FIVE MALES ARRESTED FOR LARGE AMMUNITION SEIZURE
Consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Priorities for 2017, officers assigned to the Anti-Gang and Firearms Investigations Unit along with officers from the Flying Squad took five adult males one of whom is a Royal Bahamas Defense Force officer into custody following the seizure of large amount of ammunition on Monday 9th October 2017.

Reports are that shortly around 7:00pm, officers assigned to the Anti-Gang and Firearms Investigation Unit along with officers from the Flying Squad acting on intelligence executed a search warrant on a home located at Fox Hill Avenue, Yamacraw Shores, where they uncovered sixty (60) 7.62, thirty-one (31) .223 and one (1) 9-millimeter rounds of ammunition .

The five male occupants of the home were taken into custody in connection with the seizure.

ILLEGAL DRUGS AND FIREARM SEIZED DURING POLICE OVERNIGHT ANTI- CRIME OPERATION
POLICE are reporting the seizure of an illegal firearm and a quantity of dangerous drugs along with the arrest of 6 persons for a number of offences including, possession of dangerous drugs, armed robbery and outstanding criminal warrants as they intensified their Island-wide anti-crime operation in New Providence last evening.
The operation is part of the force's strategy to cut down on criminal activity by targeting problem locations and persons engaged in criminal activities such as, murder, armed robbery, rape, shootings, stolen vehicle, firearms and drugs. Firearm seized During last night's operation a firearm and quantity of dangerous drugs were uncovered in separate incidents:

The first discovery occurred shortly before 9:00pm on Sunday 8th October 2017, when officers assigned to the operation team conducted a search in home in Kemp Road, where they uncovered just over five pounds of marijuana. An adult male occupant of the home was taken into custody in connection with the seizure.

The second discovery occurred around 1:30am on Monday 9th October 2017, when officers from the operation team conducted search of a nightclub located on Cowpen Road, where they found a .40 pistol with 10 rounds of ammunition. An adult male was taken into custody in connection with the seizure.

TWO MALES ARRESTED FOR DRUG POSSESSION BY MOBILE DIVISION OFFICERS
Consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Priorities for 2017, Mobile Division officers took two males into custody following the seizure of a quantity of dangerous drugs on Monday 9th October 2017.

Reports are that shortly after 1:30pm, Mobile Division officers were on routine patrol near the six- legged roundabout, when they intercepted a vehicle occupied by two males.

The vehicle was searched and a five pounds of marijuana was found. The two male occupants of the vehicle were taken into custody.

MAN ARRESTED FOR DRUG POSSESSION IN CROOKED ISLAND
Consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Priorities for 2017, officers in Crooked Island took an adult male into custody following the seizure of a quantity of dangerous drugs on Monday 9th October 2017.

Reports are that shortly after 10:00am, officers in Crooked Island on routine patrol intercepted a Self-Drive vehicle occupied by an adult male. The vehicle was searched and a quantity of marijuana was found. The male occupant was subsequently taken into custody.

PEDESTRIAN STRUCK AND KILLED BY VEHICLE
Officers from the RBPF Traffic Department are investigating a the circumstances surrounding the death of an adult male pedestrian who died after being struck by a vehicle on Monday 9th October 2017.

Reports are that shortly after 9:30pm, a man was crossing the southern lane of Tonique Williams Darling Highway, when an Alexis vehicle driven by an adult male struck him. The victim was pronounced dead on the scene. The driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene and is assisting police in the investigation.

MAN DIES IN ABACO TRAFFIC ACCIDENT
Police in Abaco are investigating a traffic accident that has left a 31-year man dead on Friday 6th October 2017.

Reports are that around 5:00pm, a man was driving his Buick Regal vehicle on S.C. Bootle Highway near Treasure Cay, when he lost control of his vehicle and crash into rock mound on the side of the road.

During the ordeal the man was ejected from his vehicle and landed on the Highway. The man was pronounced dead on the scene. Investigations are ongoing
