POLICE CRIME SUPRESSION OPERATION REAPING SUCCESS: 2 MURDER SUSPECTS AMONG 17 ARRESTED /
POLICE are reporting the arrest of two men wanted for murder during the launch of their Crime Suppression operation led by officers from the Selective Enforcement Team on Wednesday 26th July 2017.

During the operation 15 other individuals were arrested for Possession of Dangerous Drugs, Outstanding Criminal Warrants and harbouring a wanted murder suspect. The operation, which is Consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Priorities for 2017, is part of the force’s strategy to cut down on criminal activity by targeting problem locations and persons engaged in criminal activities such as, murder, armed robbery, rape, shootings, stolen vehicle, firearms and drugs. THREE FIREARMS SEIZED
Consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Priorities for 2017, police took three illegal firearms off the streets of New Providence in separate incidents on Thursday 27th July 2017.

In the first incident shortly after 1:00pm, officers assigned to the Southeastern Division acting on information conducted a search of a bushy area on Catherine Street, Nassau Village, where they uncovered an Austria Glock pistol with 55 rounds of ammunition.

In the second incident shortly after 7:00pm, officers assigned to the Eastern Division acting on information conducted a search of bushes in the rear of an abandoned building off Jim Carey Alley, Fox Hill, where they uncovered a 12-Gauge shotgun.

Then shortly around 11:00pm, officers assigned to the Eastern Division acting on information conducted a search of a garbage bin on Garden Wells Road off Shirley Street, where they uncovered an Austria Glock pistol.

No arrests were made in these three incidents.

POLICE PROBE SHARK ATTACK Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a shark attack that has left a female visitor from Switzerland detained in hospital on Thursday, July 27 2017.

Preliminary information indicates shortly after 12:00noon the woman was on a private snorkeling trip in waters near Rose Island, when she was attacked by a shark. The woman was transported to shore and taken to hospital where she is detained in stable condition. Investigations are ongoing.
