ANOTHER DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS OFFICER ARRESTED FOR DRUG POSSESSION

Consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Priorities for 2017, Drug Enforcement Unit Officers took a 25 year old Corrections Officer from the Bahamas Department of Corrections into custody following the seizure of a quantity of dangerous drugs found in his possession on Monday 3rd July 2017.

According to reports, around 10:00pm, acting on information, Drug Enforcement Unit officers conducted a search of a Corrections Officer, who had just arrived for duty at the Department of Corrections, and found a quantity of marijuana in his possession. The officer was taken into custody.

Drug Enforcement Officers then conducted a search of the Corrections Officer's home in Pastel Gardens, where they found an additional quantity of marijuana.

Investigations are ongoing.

BRITISH CITIZEN ARRESTED FOR DRUG POSSESSION IN HARBOUR ISLAND

Consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Priorities for 2017, Police in Harbour Island took a man from London, England into custody following the seizure of a quantity of dangerous drugs found in his possession on Tuesday 4th July 2017.

According to reports, shortly after 1:00am, Officers assigned to the Harbour Island District were on routine patrol on that island, when they saw a man standing near a nightclub who aroused their suspicion. The officers conducted a search of the man and found a quantity of marijuana in his possession. The man was then taken into custody and is expected to appear in court later this week to be formally charged.

POLICE SEEK PUBLIC'S HELP IN OVERNIGHT SHOOTING DEATH OF A MAN

Police are asking the public to come forth with any information they may have in solving an overnight shooting that has left a man dead on Monday 3rd July 2017.

According to reports, shortly before 12:00 midnight, a man was standing near a home on Bimini Avenue, when a man armed with a handgun approached and shot him before fleeing on foot. The man was pronounced dead on the scene.

Police can confirm that the victim was arrested for firearm possession in May 2017 and is on bail.

Investigations are ongoing.
