Two Arrested for Illegal Firearm Possession

Consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Priorities for 2016, Police took two men into custody following the seizure of two illegal firearms in separate incidents on Thursday 29th December 2016.

In the first incident, around 9:00am, officers from the Mobile Division acting on intelligence conducted a search of a Honda Accord vehicle occupied by an adult male at a carwash located on Carmichael Road, where they uncovered a 9-millimeter pistol with 8 live rounds of ammunition. The suspect was subsequently arrested in connection with this incident.

In the second incident, shortly after 9:00pm, officers from the Selective Enforcement Team acting on intelligence conducted a search of a an adult male at Higher Drive, Flamingo Gardens and uncovered a .45 pistol with 3 live rounds of ammunition. The suspect was subsequently arrested in connection with this incident.

Police Seize Another Illegal Firearm

Consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Priorities for 2016, Selective Enforcement Unit officers took another illegal firearm of the streets of New Providence on Tuesday 27th December 2016.

Reports are that shortly after 6:00pm, Selective Enforcement Unit Officers acting on information conducted a search of an abandoned lot located at Hutchinson Street, where they uncovered a .40 pistol with 7 live rounds of ammunition. No one was arrested for this find.

Police Seize Another Illegal Firearm

Consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Priorities for 2016, officers from the Selective Enforcement Team removed another handgun off the streets of New Providence on Sunday 11th December 2016.

Reports are that shortly after 6:00pm, Selective Enforcement Team Officers were on routine patrol on Derby Road, when they saw two males who aroused their suspicion standing near several abandoned vehicles. The males on seeing the officers fled on foot. The officers gave chase but were unable to catch the two males. A 9-millimenter handgun was found in the area where the males ran from.

DEU Seize Two (2) More Illegal Firearms

Consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Priorities for 2016, Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) Officers seized two firearms and several rounds of ammunition during an operation on Friday 9th December 2016.

Reports are that shortly after 10:00pm, Drug Enforcement Unit Officers was conducting an operation at Allen Drive, when a bag was found in a bushy area. The bag contained a .40 pistol and a .45 pistol with 14 rounds of ammunition. Additionally several small packages of marijuana was found. None one was arrested for this find.

Eight (8) Guns Seized in 24 Hour Period

Consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Priorities for 2016, Police is reporting that, through the courageous and dedicated effort of police officers across the island, three more illegal firearms were taken off the streets of New Providence. This brings to total 8 guns seized over a 24-hour period.

In the first incident, around 11:00pm on Friday 2nd December 2016, police were conducting an operation on William's Lane off Kemp Road, when a bushy area was searched and a handgun was found. No one was arrested in connection with the find.

In the second incident, shortly after 4:00pm on Saturday 3rd December 2016, police were on an operation on Kingston Street, off Kemp Road, when a bushy area was searched and a handgun with 15 live rounds of ammunition was found. No one was arrested in connection with the find.

A few hours later shortly after 11:00pm, officers from the Selective Enforcement Team were conducting an operation on Pine Yard Road, when an abandoned house was searched and a shotgun was found. Five males were arrested in connection with this discovery.

Police wish to reassure members of the public that police will continue to ramp up efforts across the country to remove illegal guns from the nation's street and arrest those who breach the Firearms Act.

Police Seize Three Firearms

Consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Priorities for 2016, police seized three more illegal firearms off the streets of New Providence in separate incidents.

In the first incident, shortly before 3:00pm on Friday 2nd December 2016, Selective Enforcement Unit officers acting on information went to a park located in Jubilee Gardens, where they uncovered a Glock Pistol with 6 rounds of ammunition and a quantity of marijuana hidden in a plastic bag.

In the second incident, shortly before 3:00am on Saturday 3rd December 2016, Selective Enforcement Unit officers acting on information conducted a search of a derelict vehicle parked in a vacant lot on Maple Street, Pinewood Gardens, where they uncovered two pistols along with 7 rounds of ammunition. No one was arrested in these incidents. Investigations are ongoing.

Police Foil Roberries. Handgun Recovered and Suspects Arrested

Consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Priorities for 2016, alert police officers on patrol on Friday 2nd December 2016, arrested two men and seized a handgun, potentially foiling several armed robberies from occurring.

Reports are that shortly after 10:00am, police received a report of two suspicious men driving in a Honda Odyssey vehicle on Carmichael Road, who were planning to rob several businesses in that area. Moment’s later Mobile Division officers spotted the two suspects driving in the Honda vehicle in the Golden Gates Shopping Center.

The suspects on seeing the officers threw a handgun out of the vehicle and sped off. After a short chase the officers brought the vehicle to a stop and arrested the two suspects.

A .40 pistol with 10 live rounds of ammunition was recovered. Police also discovered that the Honda vehicle was recently stolen. Police can confirm that one of the suspects is a prolific armed robber who is on bail for multiple armed robberies.

Firearm and Ammo Seized

Consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Priorities for 2016, Selective Enforcement Team officers took another illegal firearm off the streets of New Providence on Monday 30th November 2016.

According to reports shortly after 11:00pm, officers from the Selective Enforcement Team acting on information uncovered a Ruger Pistol with 11 rounds of ammunition from a bag on Bias Street. No one was arrested for this find.

Suspect Who Fired at Police Shot Dead. Handgun Recovered

Her Majesty’s Coroner is investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a man who was shot dead during an exchange of gunfire with police on Wednesday 30th November 2016. According to reports, shortly after 1:00pm, police were conducting a major operation in search of a man wanted murder and armed robbery in Nassau Village, when they encountered a group of males behind a home on Peach Street off Spruce Street. The males on seeing the police fled on foot. Police gave chase and were fired upon by two of the males armed with handguns. Police returned fire and fatally shot one of the males who was pronounced dead on the scene. A handgun with 13 live rounds of ammunition along with a facemask was recovered from the suspect. Police were also able to arrest four of the males, who are wanted for questioning reference to murder and other serious crimes. Her Majesty’s Deputy Coroner, Mr. Andrew Forbes visited the scene and is now leading this investigation.

According to reports shortly after 11:00pm, officers from the Selective Enforcement Team acting on information uncovered a Ruger Pistol with 11 rounds of ammunition from a bag on Bias Street. No one was arrested for this find

Police Seize Firearm and Drugs

Consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Priorities for 2016, Police officers took an illegal firearm and a quantity of dangerous drugs off the streets of New Providence on Sunday 27th November 2016.

According to reports shortly after 5:00pm, officers were on patrol on Sunset Drive, when they observed a group of males standing near a vacant lot. The males on seeing the officers fled on foot. The officers gave chase but were unable to catch the males. The officers made a check of the area the males ran from and found a .30 revolver along with 70 small packages of marijuana. No one was arrested for this find.

Man Arrested for Illegal Firearm and Drugs

Another example of excellent "Text Book" police work and precise execution of the Commissioner's 2016 Policing Plan has led to the arrest of an adult male following the seizure of a firearm and a quantity of drugs on Saturday 26th November 2016.

Reports are that shortly after 8:00am, Mobile Division officers were on routine patrol on Goombay Close, Jubilee Gardens when they saw an adult male sitting in a dark coloured Honda Civic vehicle acting suspiciously. The male on seeing the officers attempted to flee but was caught.

The officers conducted a search of the male and uncovered a .380 revolver along with a quantity of marijuana. The suspect then taken into custody and will appear in court later this week to face formal charges.

Armed Robbery Suspects in Custody. Firearms, Stolen Cash and Vehicle Recovered

Excellent police work and precise execution of the Commissioner's 2016 Policing Plan has led to the arrest of a suspect, shortly an armed robbery on Sunday 20th November 2016.

According to reports the incident all unfolded shortly after 7:00am, when three men armed with handguns pulled up to a major supermarket located on West Bay Street in a Honda vehicle, where they accosted the manger and held the employees at bay. The suspects then forced the manager to open up the safe and robbed the store of a large amount of cash before speeding off.

The police were immediately notified and issued an all points bulletin (APB) for the suspects. Moments later, officers on patrol spotted the vehicle with the three suspects in Western New Providence. The officers attempted to stop the vehicle but it sped off. A chase then ensued through several communities of New Providence. The vehicle eventually stopped in an area off East Street South, where three suspects exited the vehicle and fled on foot, firing several shots at the police. The officers returned fire and shot one of the suspects. The other two suspects managed to escape.

The officers recovered two handguns along with a large amount of cash from the vehicle. The vehicle was reported stolen a few days ago. The suspect was transported to hospital where he was treated by a doctor and later discharged. The suspect is assisting police with investigations into this a number of armed robberies.

Police Arrests Men for Illegal Firearm and Drugs

Another example of excellent police work and precise execution of the Commissioner's 2016 Policing Plan has led to the arrest of an adult male following the seizure of a firearm and a quantity of drugs on Sunday 20th November 2016.

Reports are that shortly after 11:00pm, officers from the Selective Enforcement Team were on routine patrol when they heard the sound of gunshots emanating from the Eaton Street area in Yellow Elder Gardens. Moments later, the officers saw a Nissan vehicle speeding away from the area that aroused their suspicion. After a short chase the officers brought the vehicle occupied by two adult males to a stop.

The officers conducted a search of the vehicle and uncovered a .380 pistol along with 22 small packages of marijuana. The two suspects were then taken into custody and will appear in court later this week to face formal charges.

Mobile Division Police Seize Drugs and Firearm. Two Men in Custody

Consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Priorities for 2016, Mobile Division officers took two adult males into custody following the seizure of an illegal firearm and a quantity of dangerous drugs in separate incidents on Friday 18th November 2016.

In the first incident, shortly after 5:00pm, Mobile Division officers on routine patrol conducted a search of a home located on Mackey Street, where they uncovered 22 small packages of marijuana. An adult male resident of the home was taken into custody and is expected to appear in court early next week to face formal charges.

Then shortly before 7:00pm, Mobile Division officers were on routine patrol on Ida Street, where an adult male was accosted, searched, and a .38 revolver was found in his possession. The suspect was subsequently taken into custody and is expected to appear in court early next week to face formal charges.

Another Illegal Firearm Seized

Consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Priorities for 2016, police took an adult male into custody following the seizure of an illegal firearm on Monday 14th November 2016.

Reports are that shortly after 1:00pm, officers from the Southwestern Division were on routine patrol in the area of Jubilee Gardens off Gladstone Road, when they observed four males who aroused their suspicion. The males on seeing the officers fled on foot. The officers gave chase and caught one of the males who had a 9-millimeter handgun containing 10 live rounds in his possession. The suspect was taken into custody and is expected to appear in court later this week to face formal charges.

Police Recover Firearm

Consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Priorities for 2016, Selective Enforcement Team officers took another illegal firearm off the streets of New Providence on Sunday 13th November 2016.

According to reports shortly after 12:00am on Friday 11th November 2016, officers from the Selective Enforcement Team acting on information uncovered a .40 Glock handgun with 6 rounds of ammunition behind a house on Davis Street. No one was arrested for this find.



November 13, 2016
Another Illegal Firearm Seized

Consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Plan for 2016, officers from the Selective Enforcement Team took an adult male and female into custody following the seizure of an illegal firearm on Saturday 12th November 2016.

Reports are that shortly after 8:00pm, officers from the Selective Enforcement Team were on routine patrol on Andros Avenue, when they saw a group of persons standing outside of a club acting suspiciously. A man and a woman in the group on seeing the officers fled on foot. The officers gave chase and saw when the man threw a firearm to the ground. The two suspects were caught and taken into custody. The firearm was retrieved and found to be a 9- millimeter Pistol with 16 rounds of ammunition.



November 12, 2016
Two Firearms Seized. Five in Custody

Consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Priorities for 2016, police are reporting the arrest of five persons and the seizure of two illegal firearms off the streets of New Providence in separate incidents.

In the first incident shortly after 12:00am on Friday 11th November 2016, officers from the Selective Enforcement Team uncovered a .22 rifle with 75 rounds of ammunition from behind a nightclub during an operation on Faith Avenue South. No one was arrested in connection with the find but investigations continue.

In the second incident shortly after 10:00pm on Friday 11th November 2016, officers from the Selective Enforcement Team assisted by CSI Officers, conducted a search of an abandoned building during an operation on Ida Street and uncovered a .45 pistol. Five adult males were taken into custody in connection with this discovery.

Police Seize Illegal Firearm

Consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Priorities for 2016, Police seized an illegal firearm off the streets of New Providence on Friday 4th November 2016.

Reports are that, shortly before 12:00noon, officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit acting on information conducted a search of a bushy area off Boyd, where they uncovered a Ruger Pistol with one round of ammunition. No one was arrested in this discovery.

Illegal Firearm and Drugs Seized During Halloween Operation

POLICE are reporting the arrest of several persons and the seizure of an illegal firearm and a quantity of dangerous drugs during a special Halloween operation conducted by on Monday 31st October 2016.

The operation which is consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Priorities for 2016, was conducted by officers from several branches of Royal Bahamas Police Force, who targeted problem locations and persons engaged in criminal activities. During last yesterday's operation the following arrests were made:

  • A man was arrested on Wellington Street for possession of a 9-Millimeter handgun with 11 rounds of ammunition.
  • Three males were arrested for possession of Dangerous Drugs.

Additionally, eight (8) persons were arrested for several offences to include, Armed Robbery, Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Causing Damage and Unlawful Possession.

Police Seize Firearm

Consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Priorities for 2016, Police seized an illegal firearm off the streets of New Providence on Sunday 30th October 2016.

Reports are that, shortly before 1:00am, officers from the Selective Enforcement Unit acting on information conducted a search of a bushy area off Step Street, Fox Hill, where they uncovered a sawed off shotgun. No one was arrested in this discovery.

Police Seize Firearm. Suspect Being Sought

Consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Priorities for 2016, police took another illegal firearm off the streets of New Providence on Thursday 27th October 2016.

Reports are that shortly after 10:00am, a team of Police Officers acting on intelligence conducted a search of an unoccupied Honda accord vehicle parked in the rear of a home located off Wulff Road, where they uncovered a .357 pistol. The owner of the vehicle is being sought.

Police Seize Two Firearms

Consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Priorities for 2016, Police seized two illegal firearms off the streets of New Providence in separate incidents and took an adult male into custody.

In the first incident, shortly before 1:00pm on Tuesday 25th October 2016, officers from the Firearm Tracing and Investigations Unit acting on information conducted a search of a bushy area off Lyon Road, where they uncovered 9- millimeter pistol. No one was arrested in this discovery.

In the second incident, shortly after 4:30am on Wednesday 26th October 2016, officers from the Central Division, acting on information conducted a search of a home located at Baldwin Avenue off Farrington Road, where they uncovered a .40 pistol with 18 rounds of ammunition. An adult male resident of the home was subsequently taken into custody.

Police Seize Illegal Firearm and Drugs in Nassau Village

Consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Priorities for 2016, Drug Enforcement Unit Officers seized an illegal firearm and a large amount of drugs during an operation on Wednesday 19th October, 2016.

Reports are that around 11:00pm, Drug Enforcement Unit Officers were on an operation in Lawson Avenue, Nassau Village, when they conducted a search of an abandoned building and uncovered a .380 pistol along with two crocus bags containing just over 26 pounds of marijuana. No one was arrested for this discovery.

Another Illegal Firearm Seized. One Man in custody

Consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Priorities for 2016, Mobile Division Officers seized an illegal firearm took an adult male into custody following the seizure of an illegal gun on Wednesday 19th October, 2016.

Reports are that shortly after 3:00pm, officers from the Mobile Division were on routine patrol on Durham Street, when they saw a suspicious male walking in the area. The officers conducted a search of the male and found a 9- millimeter pistol with 16 rounds of ammunition. The male was subsequently taken into custody.



October 20, 2016
Firearm Seized Following Car Chase

Consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Priorities for 2016, Officers from the Selective Enforcement Team seized an illegal firearm and arrested three adult males into custody following a car chase on Thursday 20th October, 2016.

Reports are that around 4:30pm, officers from the Selective Enforcement Team were on routine patrol on Sunset Park off Carmichael Road, when they saw three suspicious males riding in a white Honda vehicle. The males on seeing the officers sped off. The officers gave chase and one of the males threw a handgun out of the vehicle.

The chase ended when the males ditched their vehicle on Pampono Court before fleeing on foot. After a short foot chase the officers arrested the three males. The handgun was recovered and found to be a .40 pistol with seven rounds of ammunition.

Nassau Village Man in Custody for Firearm Possession

Consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Priorities for 2016, Drug Enforcement Unit officers took a man from Nassau Village into custody following the seizure of an illegal firearm on Tuesday 18th October 2016.

According to reports, shortly before 6:00am, Drug Enforcement Unit officers acting on intelligence executed a search warrant on a home located at Samson Street, Nassau Village where they uncovered a 9- millimeter handgun and just over twenty-five thousand dollars in cash believed to be the proceeds of crime. An adult male resident of the home was subsequently arrested and taken into custody.

Police Seize Illegal Handgun, Ammo and Drugs

Consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Priorities for 2016, officers from the Selective Enforcement Team took another illegal firearm off the streets of New Providence on Saturday 15th October 2016.

Reports are that around 11:00pm, officers from the Selective Enforcement Team were on routine patrol in Union Village, where they conducted a search of an abandoned building and found one .38 revolver with one round of ammunition along with a clear plastic bag containing a quantity of marijuana. No one was arrested for this discovery.

Police Seize Firearms, Ammo and Drugs

Consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Priorities for 2016, officers from the Selective Enforcement Team took more illegal firearms off the streets of New Providence on Tuesday 11th October 2016.

Reports are that shortly after 7:00pm, officers from the Selective Enforcement Team were on routine patrol on Nassau Street, when they saw a suspicious male walking with a bag in his hands. The male on seeing the officers dropped the bag and fled on foot. The officers gave chase but were unable to catch the male.

The officers made a check of the bag and found it to contain one .22 revolver riffle and a 410 shotgun along with (6) clear plastic bags, each with a quantity of marijuana.

Four Men Arrested for Guns and Cash in Long Island

Consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Priorities for 2016, Police in Long Island took four New Providence men into custody following the seizure of two illegal firearms and a large amount of cash on Thursday 29th September 2016.

According to reports, shortly after 5:00am, Police in Long Island acting on intelligence executed a search warrant on a home located in South Long Island where they uncovered an AK- 47 assault rifle, a 9- millimeter handgun and just over one hundred and ninety thousand dollars in cash believed to be the proceeds of crime.

The four adult males were subsequently arrested and taken into custody. Investigations are ongoing.

One of Police Most Wanted Suspects Arrested

After just over three weeks on the run Tahnarze Ferguson, otherwise called "Dirty" or “Nas”, who is wanted in connection with the attempted murder of a Police Sergeant that occurred at Odle Corner on Monday 5th September 2016, is finally behind bars.

According to reports, shortly after 6:00pm on Thursday 29th September 2016, officers from the Firearms Tracing and Investigations Unit acting on intelligence went to an area off Farrington Road, where they arrested the wanted suspect and took him into custody.

Police Seize 8 Illegal Firearms and Ammunition

Consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Priorities for 2016, Police have recorded yet another major success in the fight against the illegal gun trade with the arrest of a suspected major firearm trafficker following the seizure of eight illegal firearms and hundreds of rounds of ammunition in New Providence on Friday 16th September 2016.

Reports are that around 5.00pm, a team of officers led by officers from the Firearms Tracing and Investigations Unit, acting on intelligence went to a business establishment located off Mount Royal Avenue, where they observed a suspicious male emerged from the establishment with two small boxes. The officers approached the male and during a search of the boxes, they uncovered four (4) pistols and nearly 300 assorted rounds of .380, 9-millemeter and 7.62 ammunition.

The officers then conducted a search of the establishment and uncovered a 7.62 assault rifle, two pistols, and a revolver along with almost 300 rounds of assorted ammunition.

The adult male was subsequently arrested and is assisting police with investigations into this major seizure. Police suspect the arrested male to be the mastermind behind a major firearms trafficking ring.

SET Seize Illegal Handgun and Ammunition

Consistent with the Commissioner'sPolicing Priorities for 2016, officers from the Selective Enforcement Team removed another illegal firearm off the streets of New Providence on Friday 16th September 2016.

Reports are that shortly after 9:00pm, officers from the Selective Enforcement Team were on routine patrol on Molly Street, Montel Heights when they saw a suspicious male walking in the area.

The male on seeing the officers threw and object to the ground and fled on foot. The officers gave chase but were unable to catch the male.

The officers retrieved the object and found it to be a 9-millimeter Glock Pistol with 15 rounds of ammunition

Police Seize AR-15 Assault Rifle

Consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Priorities for 2016, around 9:00pm on Wednesday 14th September 2016, officers from the Selective Enforcement Team acting on information went to a bushy area off Market Street North, where they uncovered an AR 15 Assault Rifle.

No one was arrested in connection with this discovery.

DEU Seize Illegal Handgun. Two in Custody

Consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Priorities for 2016, Officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) took into custody two adult males following the seizure of an illegal firearm on Friday 9th September 2016.

Reports are that around 2:00am, a team of DEU Officers acting on intelligence went to the parking lot of Sporting Bar situated Tonique Williams-Darling Highway, where they conducted a search of a suspicious vehicle and found a pistol with 5 rounds of ammunition.

Two adult male occupants of the vehicle were taken into custody for questioning.

Police Seize Fireaem. Suspect in Custody

Consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Plan for 2016, officers from the Central Division took a man into custody following the seizure of a handgun on Saturday 10th September 2016.

Reports are that shortly after 12:00midnight, officers from the Central Division arrested the suspect on West Hill Street, after they conducted a search and found a pistol in his possession. The suspect is expected to appear in court early this week to be formally charged.

Man Arrested for Illegal Firearm Possession

Shortly after 1:30am, a man was walking on Marlborough Street, when a man armed with a handgun approached and robbed him of his cell phone and cash before fleeing on foot.

A short while later, officers from the Central Detective Unit arrested an adult male on Hospital Lane after finding a .45 pistol in his possession.

The arrested male is believed to be the suspect in some of the earlier armed robberies. Investigations are ongoing.



September 4, 2016
Police Recover Illegal Firearm Following Shooting

Shortly after 12:00midnight on Sunday 4th September 2016, three men believed to be Hispanic males were put out of a nightclub located on Woods Rodgers Wharf after creating a disturbance. Shortly after 3:00am one of the men returned to the club armed with a handgun, where he got into an altercation with a man identified as the Disc Jockey, who attempted to disarm him. This led to Disc Jockey, the armed man and a woman at the club being shot.

The armed suspect then fled the scene in a Nissan vehicle. Police later recovered a .40 handgun in the area, believed to be the weapon used in the shooting. The man and woman were transported to hospital, where they are detained in stable condition.

Shortly before 7:00am this morning, Police acting on intelligence, went to a home located at Mt. Pleasant Avenue, where they arrested the suspect who had been shot. The suspect was transported to hospital, where he is detained in stable condition under heavy police guard.

Three Arrested in Andros for Firearm Possession

Consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Priorities for 2016, Police in Andros arrested two men and a woman in connection with the seizure of a firearm and several rounds of ammunition in on Thursday 1st September 2016.

Reports are that around 3:30am, Police in Andros executed a search warrant at a home in Calabash Bay, where they uncovered a 9-millimeter Pistol with 7 rounds of ammunition. The two men and woman were subsequently arrested and transported to New Providence, where they are expected to appear in court later today to be formally charged.

SET Arrest Three for Illegal Firearm and Ammunition

Consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Priorities for 2016, Selective Enforcement Unit Officers arrested three adult males following the seizure of an illegal firearm and a quantity of dangerous drugs on Tuesday 30th August 2016.

Reports are, that around 11:00pm Selective Enforcement Team officers were on routine patrol on Poinciana Avenue and Fifth Street, where they conducted a search of three males on a park and found a pistol with 4 rounds of ammunition along with a quantity of marijuana.

The males were subsequently arrested for questioning reference to this discovery. Police can confirm that one of the suspects is on bail for murder.

Police Seize Another Illegal Firearm

Consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Priorities for 2016, officers from the Selective Enforcement Team took another illegal firearm off the streets of New Providence on Tuesday 23rd August 2016.

Reports are that shortly after 11:00pm, Selective Enforcement Unit officers executed search warrant on a home located at Whites Road off Market Street, where they uncovered a Glock Pistol with 21 rounds of ammunition. As a result, an adult male was taken into custody for questioning in connection with this discovery.

Major Drug Bust at LPIA. Adult Male in Custody

Consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Priorities for 2016, Police has struck another blow against organized drug trafficking in The Bahamas, this time with the seizure of a large amount of cocaine and the arrest of a Bahamian male at LPIA on Sunday 21st August 2016.

Reports are that shortly after 8:00am, Police K-9 officers on duty at the Lynden Pindling International Airport (LPIA) Jet Aviation Centre assisted by officers from the Airport Division conducted a search of a chartered aircraft that had just landed and found two large bags containing fifty-one (51) kilos of cocaine.

An adult male is in custody assisting Drug Enforcement Officers with their investigations.




Two Firearms Seized. Three Men in Custody

Consistent with the Commissioner's Police Priorities for 2016, Police arrested three suspects following the seizure of two more illegal firearms off the streets of New Providence, in two separate incidents on Sunday 21st August 2016.

In the first incident, shortly after 2:00pm, Selective Enforcement Team officers on routine patrol arrested two men in the area of Peardale Manor, after they found a .380 pistol with 5 rounds of ammunition in their possession. The two suspects are expected to appear in court on Monday 22nd August 2016 to be formally charged.

Then shortly after 5:00am, Northeastern Division officers on routine patrol conducted a search of a male at 6th Terrace, Centerville and uncovered a pistol with 13 rounds of ammunition. The suspect was subsequently arrested and is expected to appear in court on Monday 22nd August 2016 to be formally charged

SET Seize Two Firearms

Consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Plan for 2016, Police continues to reap results in the number of illegal guns seized out of the hands of criminals, with the recovery of two more illegal guns on Monday 15th August 2016.

In the first incident, shortly before 8:00pm, officers from the Selective Enforcement Team were on routine patrol on Trelawney Close off Farrington Road, when they saw two males acting suspiciously. On seeing the officers the two males ran into some nearby bushes. The officers gave chase but were unable to catch the two males. However, the officers recovered a .38 revolver with 5 rounds of ammunition the males threw to the ground.

Then around 10:30pm, officers from the Selective Enforcement Team were on routine patrol in the area of a park in Yellow Elder Gardens, when they saw a male acting suspiciously. On seeing the officers the male fled on foot. The officers gave chase but were unable to catch the male. However, the officers recovered a Glock pistol the male threw to the ground.

Police Seize Another Illegal Firearm. Two in Custody

On Friday 28th July, 2016, police were on patrol in the Tonique Williams Darling Highway area when they stopped a vehicle that appeared suspicious with two adult male occupants.

Upon searching the vehicle, a handgun with 15 live rounds of ammunition was discovered.

Both men were later arrested. Police investigations continue.

Police Seize Two Firearms. Five in Custody

Police are reporting the seizure of two illegal firearms from the streets of New Providence and the arrest of 5 males.

In the first incident, police received information of an armed robbery in the area of St. Albans Drive. Officers of the Selective Enforcement Unit later responded and intercepted the vehicle where a handgun and properties from the robbery were discovered inside. Three adult males are in custody.

In the second incident, officers from FTIU arrested two adult males after they were found in possession of a handgun.

Police investigations continue in both matters

On Wednesday 20th July, 2016, sometime around 9:50 pm, the crew of Operation Turf Sweep acting on information received proceeded to a bushy area opposite Commonwealth Bank, located on the Mall Drive, where the officers discovered a handgun.

No one was arrested for this find. Police investigations continue.

Two Arrested in Grand Bahama for Firearm

Consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Plan for 2016, courageous officers from the Central Detective Unit in Grand Bahama took two adult males into custody following the seizure of a high powered weapon on Tuesday 19th July 2016.

Reports are that shortly after 2:30pm, a team of officers from the Central Detective Unit in Grand Bahama executed a search warrant on a home located at Clarke Avenue, Freeport, where they uncovered a .45 Semi-automatic Rifle with 27 rounds of ammunition. Two adult male residents of the home were taken into custody for questioning reference to this discovery

Man Arrested for Firearm by Grand Bahama Police

Consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Plan for 2016, officers from a Special Police operation team in Grand Bahama arrested an adult male after they found an illegal firearm in his possession on Sunday 17th July 2016.

Reports are that shortly before 10:00pm, officers from Operation Turf Sweep were on patrol on Weddell Avenue, when they saw a man who aroused their suspicion.

The officers conducted a search of the man and uncovered a .45 Glock Pistol with 10 rounds of ammunition in his possession. The man was subsequently arrested and taken into custody.

On Friday 15th July 2016, police reported recovering a handgun with its serial number erased in the area of Hibiscus Street.

No one was taken into custody for this discovery. Police investigations continue.

Police Seize Another Illegal Handgun

Consistent with the Commissioner's 2016 Police Plan, officers from the South Central Division seized an illegal firearm on Wednesday 13th July 2016.

According to reports shortly after 11:00pm, officers from the South Central Division acting on information conducted a search of an abandoned vehicle on Miami Street, where they uncovered a 9-millimeter pistol with 13 live rounds of ammunition. No one was arrested in this incident.

Mobile Division Seize Another Illegal Firearm

On Monday 12th July 2016 shortly after 7pm, officers of the Mobile Division acting on information went to the rear of # 55 Pinedale Road where they recovered a black and silver 9mm Smith and Wesson pistol with its serial number erased along with a magazine containing 15 live. 9mm rounds of ammunition wrapped in a red cloth.

No arrests were made however the firearm and ammunition were handed over to CDU for further investigations.

American Man Arrested for Ammunition

An American man from New Hampshire, USA was taken into custody for Possession of Ammunition on Friday 8th July 2016.

According to reports, shortly after 12:00noon, the man was returning to the United States, when United States Customs and Border Protection officials detained him at the United States Customs and Immigration Pre-Clearance Departure Lounge at LPIA after 8 live rounds of ammunition was discovered in his luggage. The man was handed over to the police and is expected to appear in court early next week to be formally charged

Police Seized Two Illegal Firearms of the Streets

Consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Priorities for 2016, officers from the Selective Enforcement Team took two more additional firearms of the streets of New Providence following a raid at a small resort on Saturday 9th July 2016.

Reports are that around 1:00am, officers from the Selective Enforcement Team acting on information executed a search warrant on three rooms at a small resort located on West Bay Street, where they uncovered two (2) pistols along with thirty-four (34) live rounds of ammunition. Four male and four female occupants of the rooms were taken into custody in connect with this find. The eight suspects are due to make their first appearance in court early next week

Consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Priorities for 2016 officers from the Selective Enforcement Team took another handgun off the streets of New Providence on Thursday 30th June 2016.

Reports are that shortly before 5:00pm, officers from the Selective Enforcement Team acting on information went to a bushy area located in Yellow Elder Gardens, where they uncovered a 9- millimeter handgun with 4 live rounds of ammunition. No one was arrested for this discovery.

Another Firearm Seized. Two Females in Custody

Consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Plan for 2016, officers from the Mobile Division took two adult females into custody following the seizure of a handgun on Saturday 25th July 2016.

Reports are that shortly after 9:00am, officers from the Mobile Division acting on intelligence conducted a search of a home located at Palm Tree Avenue, where they uncovered a .40 pistol with 6 rounds of ammunition. The two females were subsequently arrested and taken into custody.

Major Drug Arrest in Grand Bahama

Consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Plan for 2016, Officers of Operation Turf Sweep arrested three persons during two separate incidents on Friday 24th June 2016 for Possession of Dangerous Drugs.

The first incident occurred in the Pioneers Way area, officers stopped and searched a black 2004 Honda Accord with two male passengers inside and discovered on one of the males a quantity of suspected marijuana.

In the second incident, Officers of Operation Turf Sweep executed a search of a residence on Pearl Way Drive, Sea Horse Village and discovered a large black garbage bag containing four sealed packages of suspected marijuana. An adult male and female were both arrested and taken into police custody.

Also in a third incident, on Friday 24th June 2016, Officers of the Abaco District arrested a male and a female for Possession of Dangerous Drugs. Reports are that Officers executed a search warrant at a residence located on Crockett Drive, Marsh Harbour, Abaco and discovered a quantity of suspected marijuana. An adult male and female, both of Freeport, Grand Bahama were arrested and taken into police custody.

All person are expected to be arraigned before the Magistrate Court early next week.

Grand Bahama Police Seize Illegal Firearm

On Sunday 19th June 2016, at about 1:45pm, officers in Grand Bahama acting on information went to John Wentworth Ave where they followed a short foot path in the bushes where they discovered a white plastic bag containing one silver with black handle Jennings 9mm pistol sr#1336789 with one magazine and no rounds.

No one was arrested for this discovery. Police investigations continue.

SWAT Make Firearm Arrest

Police in New Providence have removed another illegal firearm from the streets.

Reports are about 11:45pm on Saturday 18th June 2016, officersof the SWAT Section responded to gun shots being fired in the Florida Court area. While in the area of Taylor's Liquor on Balfour Avenue, they observed two males acting suspiciously. A search of a bag at the rear of the store revealed a black pistol.

Both suspects were arrested. Police investigations continue.

Consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Plan for 2016, officers from the Southwestern Division took an adult male into custody after they seized a handgun on Sunday 19th June 2016.

Reports are that shortly after 6:00am, officers from the Southwestern Division went to a home located in Flamingo Gardens, where they arrested the suspect after they conducted a search and found a .38 revolver in his possession.

Police Seize Firearm During Island-Wide Operation

ANOTHER FIREARM SEIZED, 10 ARRESTED AS POLICE ISLANDWIDE ANTI-CRIME OPERATION CONTINUES
Consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Plan for 2016, Police are reporting more success under their 'Anti-Crime Operation' led by officers from the Selective Enforcement Team with the arrest of 10 suspects and the seizure of one illegal firearm on Saturday 18th June 2016.

Shortly after 11:30pm yesterday, the operation team acting on information went to Balfour Avenue, where they uncovered a pistol with 2 rounds of ammunition. Two (2) male suspects were taken into custody in connection with this discovery.

Additionally, eight (8) other male suspects were arrested for questioning reference to murder, stealing assault with a deadly weapon, firearms and drugs.

FIREARM SEIZED, SUSPECT IN CUSTODY
Consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Plan for 2016, officers from the Southwestern Division took an adult male into custody after they seized a handgun on Sunday 19th June 2016.

Reports are that shortly after 6:00am, officers from the Southwestern Division went to a home located in Flamingo Gardens, where they arrested the suspect after they conducted a search and found a .38 revolver in his possession.

POLICE SEARCHING FOR ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECT
POLICE are searching for two suspects responsible for an armed robbery that occurred on Saturday 18th June 2016. Reports are that shortly after 11:00pm, a man was standing outside of a club on Farrington Road, when two males armed with a handgun approached him and robbed him of two cell phones before fleeing on foot. Investigations are ongoing.

Police are reminding the public to play their part in reducing criminal activities by reporting illegal weapons and other criminal offences.

Consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Plan for 2016, officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) seized a large quantity of dangerous drugs in New Providence on Monday 13th June 2016.

Major Break in Murder Case. Suspect Arrested

MAJOR BREAK IN MURDER CASE- SUSPECT IN CUSTODY, FIREARM RECOVERED
Subsequent to the shooting death that occurred earlier this morning (Sunday 12th June 2016), police launch and intense investigation that led to the arrest of an adult male suspect this afternoon, who police believe to be responsible for this incident.

Additionally police found a handgun in the suspect's possession. Investigations are ongoing.

POLICE SEARCH FOR SUSPECT AND VEHICLE OF INTEREST IN EARLY MORNING MURDER
Police are asking the public for help in identifying a suspect and a vehicle of interest seen in a surveillance video footage believe to be connected to a shooting death of a man that occurred on Sunday 12th June 2016.

Reports are that shortly after 8:00am, police received a report of a man lying down in the ATM booth of a local bank on Jerome Avenue. On arrival at the scene, officers found the lifeless body of an adult male, who had been shot. The man was pronounced dead on the scene. Investigations are ongoing.

Suspect Shot by Police. Handgun Recovered

Reports are that shortly after 11:00pm on Friday 10th June 2016, police were on routine patrol on Wild Guava Tree Street, Pinewood Gardens, when they received information of a male suspect walking in the area armed with a handgun.

A few minutes later, the officers spotted an adult male in area fitting the description of the suspect. The suspect on seeing the officers fled on foot. The officers pursued the suspect into nearby bushes, where the suspect pulled a handgun from his waist and pointed it at the officers. The officers in fear of their lives fired at the suspect and shot him.

A 9-millimeter handgun along with 7 rounds of ammunition was recovered from the suspect. The suspect was transported to hospital where he is listed in stable condition under heavy police guard.

Reports are that around 8:30pm, officers from the Selective Enforcement Team were on routine patrol on Lyon Road off Shirley Street, when they saw two suspicious males walking in the area. The officers conducted a search of the males and uncovered a pistol with 10 rounds of ammunition. The two males were subsequently arrested and taken into custody.

Consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Plan for 2016, officers from the Firearm Tracing and Investigations Unit took another illegal firearm off the streets of New Providence on Friday 20th May 2016.

Reports are that shortly before 2:00pm, officers from the Firearm Tracing and Investigations Unit were on routine patrol on Mutton Fish Drive off Blue Hill Road, when they stopped a Honda Fit vehicle driven by a suspicious male. The officers conducted a search of the vehicle and uncovered a .45 pistol with a live round of ammunition. The suspect was subsequently arrested and taken into custody.

Consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Plan for 2016, officers from the Selective Enforcement Team were conducting an operation in Jones Heights around 2:30pm on Wednesday 18th May 2016, when they observed several males standing in an abandoned house acting suspiciously. The males on seeing the officers fled on foot. The officers gave chase but were unable to catch the males. The officers then conducted a search of the abandoned building where they uncovered a 9 - millimeter handgun along with a quantity of marijuana.

Police Seize Firearm

Consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Plan for 2016, officers from the Selective Enforcement Team conducted an operation in New Providence, on Monday 16th May 2016 that targeted a number of persons suspected of being involved in criminal activities.

During the operation the officers conducted a search of a club located on Minnie Street, where they uncovered a handgun. No one was arrested for this discovery.

Additionally, 5 persons were arrested for possession of dangerous drugs and one person was arrested for stealing.

Consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Plan for 2016, police seized two illegal handguns and a quantity of dangerous drugs off the streets of New Providence in separate incidents on Sunday 15th May 2016.

In the first incident, around 2:30pm, officers from the Firearm Tracing and Investigations Unit, acting on information went to a bushy area off East Street South, where they uncovered a .380 pistol.

Then around 8:00pm, officers from the Selective Enforcement Team, acting on information went to an abandoned building off Marshall Road, where they uncovered a bag containing a quantity of marijuana.

Later that evening, around 8:00pm, officers from the Selective Enforcement Team, acting on information went to a bushy area on East Street near Bahama Avenue, where they uncovered a 9-millimeter pistol with 12 rounds of ammunition. No arrests were made in any of these incidents.

Seven Arrested During Southeastern Division Operation

Consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Plan for 2016, officers from the Southeastern Division conducted an operation in the division on Tuesday 10th May 2016 to send a clear message to those responsible for committing criminal acts on members of our communities, that the police will proactively identify them, thoroughly investigate the offences they commit, and ensure that they are prosecuted and brought to justice.

The operation resulted in 7 persons being arrested for a number of criminal offences to include threats of death, assault, causing damage and causing harm.

Surinamese Woman Arrested For Cocaine Smuggling at LPIA

An adult woman from Suriname is in custody following the seizure of a quantity of cocaine at The Lynden Pindling International Airport (LPIA) by Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) Officers on Tuesday 10th May 2016.

Reports are that around 2:30pm, officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit on duty at LPIA, conducted a search of the woman's luggage when she arrived on an international flight and found just over seven (7) pounds of cocaine. The woman was subsequently arrested and is expected to appear in court later this week to be formally charged.

Mobile Division Police Seize Another Illegal Firearm

On Tuesday 3rd, May 2016, police of the Mobile Division were on patrol in the area Twin Court Ridgeland Park when they observed three men acting suspiciously. The men then ran upon seeing the officers in a house.

A search was later conducted where a shotgun was recovered.

All of the men were taken into custody. Police investigation continues.

Operation "Turf Sweep" in Grand Bahama Make Firearm Arrest

Consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Priorities for 2016, officers from Operation Turf Sweep seized another firearm off the streets of Grand Bahama on Thursday 28th April 2016.

Reports are that shortly before 12:00am, officers were in the Garden Villas area where they arrested a 23 year old male of Frobisher Circle who was found with a .9mm pistol with (1) magazine containing (7) .9mm rounds of ammunition. The suspect is expected to be arraigned before the Magistrate Court early next week.

RBDF Marine Arrested for Firearm and Drugs

A Royal Bahamas Defense Force Officer along with an adult male is in custody following the seizure of a firearm and a quantity of drugs on Friday 22nd April 2016.

Reports are that shortly after 1:00pm, officers from the Mobile Division were on Patrol when they receive a report of gunshots being discharged on Emanuel Way off Soldier Road. Acting on information received, the officers went to a home on Emanuel Way, where they conducted a search and uncovered a 9- millimeter pistol with 15 rounds of ammunition, along with a quantity of marijuana.

The RBPF Officer and the adult male were subsequently arrested in connection with this discovery.

Police Seize Three Firearms

Consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Plan for 2016, courageous officers of the Royal Bahamas Police Force took three more illegal firearms off the streets of New Providence in two separate incidents on Saturday 16th April 2016.

In the first incident, shortly before 10:00am, officers from the Southwestern Division, acting on intelligence went a premises located at Kenya Avenue of Higher Drive, where they found two 9 millimeter pistols wrapped in a plastic bag. No one was arrested in this incident.

In the second incident, shortly after 10:00am, officers from the Selective Enforcement Team, acting on intelligence, executed a search warrant on a home located at Wilson Track, where they located an unlicensed shotgun. An adult male resident of the home was subsequently arrested in connection with this discovery.

Consistent with the Commissioner's 2016 Policing Plan for 2016, officers from the Selective Enforcement Team seized a handgun and a quantity of dangerous drugs on Thursday 14th April 2016.

Reports are that around 6:30pm, officers from the Selective Enforcement Team acting on intelligence conducted a search of a premises located on Peter Street, where they uncovered a 9 millimeter handgun with 9 rounds of 9 millimeter ammunition along with 14 rounds of AK-47 ammunition. No one was arrested for this discovery.

Five in Custody for Drugs and Firearm

Consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Plan for 2016, officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit took into custody five adult males following the seizure of an illegal firearm and a quantity of drugs on Wednesday 13, April 2016.

Reports are that shortly after 7:00pm, a team of officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit executed a search warrant on a home located on Pilgrim Street off Farrington Road where they uncovered over three (3) pounds of marijuana along with a 9 millimeter handgun.

The five (5) adult male residents of the home were subsequently arrested for questioning reference to this discovery.

Major Drug Bust, Nine in Custody

Police took eight adult males from Haiti along with an adult Bahamian male into custody following a major drug bust in Inagua on Monday 11th April 2016.

Reports are that shortly after 4:00pm, officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit, assisted by International Counterparts from the US Coastguard and Drug Enforcement Administration, acting on intelligence conducted a search of a Haitian vessel in Inagua where they uncovered over 100 kilos of cocaine. The nine men who were on board the vessel were taken into custody for questioning.

In the first incident, shortly after 7:00pm, officers from the Selective Enforcement Team acting on information conducted a search of a bushy area near a park in Yellow Elder Gardens, where they uncovered a 9-millimeter pistol. No one was arrested in this incident.

In the secod incident, shortly after 9:300pm, officers the Southwestern Division acting on information conducted search of an abandoned building located on Homestead Street, where they uncovered a .40 pistol with 8 rounds of ammunition. No one was arrested in this incident.

Seven Illegal Firearms Seized, One Man in Custody

Consistent with the Commissioner's 2016 Police Plan, hardworking and dedicated officers of the Royal Bahamas Police Force took seven illegal firearms off the streets of New Providence on Wednesday 6th April 2016. In the first incident, shortly after 1:00pm, officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit acting on information conducted search of an abandoned building located on Shah Drive off Sumner Street, where they uncovered two (2) pistols, two (2) shotguns and one (1) submachine gun. No one was arrested in this incident. In the second incident, shortly after 6:00pm, officers from the Selective Enforcement Team were on routine patrol on Kemp Road when they stopped a Toyota vehicle with two suspicious men inside. One of the males fled the vehicle and eluded the officers, however the other man was detained. A search was conducted of the vehicle and a .40 pistol with 3 live rounds of ammunition was found. The male was subsequently arrested. In the final incident, shortly after 7:00pm, officers from the Selective Enforcement team acting on information conducted a search of a bushy area located on Williams Lane off Kemp Road, where they uncovered a 9-millimeter pistol. No one was arrested in this incident.

Three Shootings,Two Dead,One Suspect in Custody, Firearm Recovered

Police are investigating three separate shooting incidents that has left two men dead and two females detained in hospital on Wednesday 6th April 2016. In the first incident, shortly after 7:00pm, a man armed with a shotgun went to a home located on Charleston Street, Ridgeland Park West, where he shot an adult male sitting in a Nissan vehicle parked in front of the home. The suspect then went into the home where he shot two adult females before fleeing in a Public Service bus. The male was pronounced dead on the scene. The two females were transported to hospital where one of them is detained in serious condition and the other in stable condition. Police later arrested the suspect and recovered the shotgun.

According to reports, shortly after 7:30am on Tuesday 5th April 2016, officers from the Mobile Division acting on information, conducted a search at the rear of a home located at Ethel Street, Montel Heights where they uncovered an unlicensed shotgun. No one was arrested for this discovery.

Police Seize Another Illegal Fireaem

Consistent with the Commissioner's 2016 Policing Plan, courageous action by officers from the Mobile Division has led to another illegal gun being taken out of the hands of criminals on Sunday 3rd April 2016.

According to reports, around 12:00noon, officers from the Mobile Division were on routine patrol on Dunmore Street off Market Street, when they saw a black Acura vehicle with two males inside who aroused their suspicion. The officers ordered the vehicle to stop and one of the males threw a handgun outside of the vehicle.

The officers retrieved a .45 pistol containing 8 rounds of ammunition and arrested the two males. A search was conducted of the vehicle and a quantity of marijuana was recovered.

Armed Suspects Fatally Shot. 2 Guns Recovered

Two armed male suspects wanted for questioning reference to armed robbery and a number of serious crimes were shot and killed after they confronted police on Thursday 31st March 2016.

According to reports, shortly around 6:00pm, police were on routine patrol in Sunset Park off Carmichael Road when the saw two males who aroused their suspicion, driving in a champagne Blue Bird vehicle. The officers ordered the males to stop but they refused and sped off. After a short car chase the males turned into a nearby residence where they exited the vehicle and confronted the officers armed with handguns. During an exchange of gunfire the two males were fatally shot.

The two males were pronounced dead on the scene. One pistol containing 8 rounds of ammunition and another pistol containing 4 rounds of ammunition were recovered from the scene. Police suspect the two males to be responsible for a number of armed robberies and stolen vehicles over the past weeks and can confirm that one of the male suspects is on bail for firearm possession and stolen vehicle.

Her Majesty's Coroner, Mrs. Jeanine Weech-Gomez visited the scene and is now leading this investigation. All inquiries are to be directed to Mrs. Jeanine Weech-Gomez at Royal Victoria Gardens.

In the first incident shortly before 5:00pm, officers from the Selective Enforcement Team acting on intelligence conducted a search of an abandoned building located on Palm Beach Street, where they uncovered a pistol gripped shotgun.

Then shortly before 7:00pm, officers from the Selective Enforcement Team acting on intelligence conducted a search of a building located on Anathol Street Ridgeland Park west, where they found a pistol along with a quantity of marijuana. No arrests were made in none of these two incidents.

Mobile Division Police Seize Another Illegal Firearm

Consistent with the Commissioners Policing Plan for 2016, Mobile Division Officers seized a handgun on Marathon Road, on Thursday 17th March 2016.

Reports are that shortly before 7:00 pm, Mobile Division officers were on patrol in the Marathon Road area when a premises was searched. During the searched a .22 pistol along with four live rounds was found.

Grand Bahama Police Seize Firearm, Ammunition and Drugs

On Sunday 13th March 2016, sometime around 5:42pm, officers from operation "Turf Sweep" in Grand Bahama, while conducting inquires in the area of Adventures Way, near Garden Villas when they saw a male acting suspiciously with a red backpack on his back.

The suspect then fled in nearby bushes and made good his escape.

The officers on checking the bushes found the backpack, which contained a quantity of suspected marijuana, a .22 revolver and a small plastic bag containing (16) 7.62 rounds of ammunition.

Police investigations continue.

Suspects Arrested After Chase. Assault Rifle Seized

The execution of the Commissioner's 2016 Policing Plan continues to reap positive results, this time with the recovery of a high-powered assault weapon and the arrest of two suspects following a car chase on Sunday 13th March 2016.

Reports are that shortly after 10:30am, officers from the Mobile Division were on routine patrol on Poinciana Drive when then spotted a heavily tinted silver Honda Accord being sought after by the police.

The officers signaled to the vehicle to stop; however the occupants refused to stop and sped off. The officers pursued the vehicle to the intersection of Columbus Avenue and Infant View Road, where the vehicle lost control and came to a stop in nearby bushes. Three male occupants fled from the vehicle on foot and two of them were caught following a short foot chase.

The officers conducted a search of the suspect’s vehicle found an AK- 47 Assault Rifle with a magazine containing 29 live rounds of ammunition. Police are searching for the third suspect. Police are reminding the public to play their part in reducing criminal activities by reporting illegal weapons and other criminal offences.

Police Seize Firearm. Six (6) in Custody

On Saturday 12 March 2016, police officers
executed a search warrant on the exterior of an apartment complex located at Windsor Lane east in the area of Butler's Alley, where they recovered a black and brown Keltec .380 pistol with seven (7) live rounds.

As a result, six (6) males in the immediate area were arrested and taken into custody in relation to this discovery.

Police investigations continue.

Firearm and Drugs Seized During Anti-Crime Operation

Consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Plan for 2016, Police are reporting more success under their 'Anti-Crime Operation' led by officers from the Selective Enforcement Team with the arrest of 13 individuals, the seizure of one illegal gun and a quantity of marijuana between Friday 11th March 2016 and Saturday 12th March 2016.

Shortly after 3:00pm yesterday the operation team conducted a search of an abandoned building on Bernard Road, where they uncovered a quantity of dangerous drugs. Then shortly after 12:00midnight this morning the operation team conducted a search of a male at the Potters Cay Dock and found a 9mm pistol with 7 rounds of ammunition in his possession. The male was taken into custody.

During the operation Police also arrested 8 males in connection with the death of the student that occurred on Carmichael Road yesterday.

Additionally, four other males were arrested for questioning reference to firearms. Police are reminding the public to play their part in reducing criminal activities by reporting illegal weapons and other criminal offences.

Grand Bahama Police Seize Two Firearms and Ammunition

In keeping with the Commissioner's Policing Plan for 2016, Officers of Operation Turf Sweep on Friday 11th March 2016, while in the area of Coral Gardens on mobile patrol, observed a group of males who fled upon seeing the officers.

Officers then searched the area and discovered in bushes a bag containing (10) shotgun shells, (1) .22 revolver, (1) .380 pistol along with (1) magazine containing (1) .380 ammunition. All items were confiscated,no arrest was made in this matter, however investigation is continuing.

Major Drug Bust at LPIA

Two adult males are in custody after they were arrested following a major drug bust at The Lynden Pindling International Airport (LPIA) on Wednesday 9th March 2016.

According to reports, shortly after 6:00pm, the two adult males were traveling to the United States, when United States Customs and Border Patrol officials detained them at the United States Pre-Clearance Departure Lounge at LPIA following the discovery of just over sixty-five (65) pounds of cocaine in their luggage. The two males were handed over to the police and are expected to appear in court at a later date to be formally charged.

On Tuesday 8, March, 2016, police received reports of two males in a vehicle who were traveling with a firearm in the East Bay Street area.

Officers of the Mobile Division were able to intercept this vehicle and a search was conducted that revealed a shotgun with six (6) live rounds of ammunition.

Both men were subsequently arrested. Police investigation continues.

Consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Plan for 2016, 0fficers assigned to the Southwestern Division seized a firearm and three rounds of ammunition on Monday 7th March 2016. Reports are that shortly after 1:00pm, officers from the Southwestern Division acting on information conducted a search of an abandoned truck off Bacardi Road and found a .38 revolver along with a quantity of marijuana. No one was arrested in connection with the seizure.

Consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Plan for 2016, police assigned to the Western Division seized a firearm and three rounds of ammunition on Saturday 5th March 2016.

Reports are that about 10:00pm, officers from the Western Division intercepted a Honda vehicle with two suspicious men aboard on West Bay Street. The vehicle was searched and a .40 pistol along with three rounds of ammunition seized. The two men were subsequently taken into custody in connection with the seizure.

Police Seize Drugs and Ammunition

Consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Plan for 2016, police on Friday 4th March 2016, seized a quantity of dangerous drugs and ammunition in separate incidents.

The first incident occurred shortly before 6:00pm, at West Street, when officers from the Mobile Division assisted by other officers searched an abandoned vehicle and found just over nine (9) pounds of marijuana. An adult male and an adult female were taken into custody for questioning reference to this discovery.

The second incident took place about 7:00pm, at Orange Creek Subdivision when a building under construction was searched by officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit and fifty .223 rounds of ammunition was found. No one was arrested in connection with this discovery

Bimini Police Make Major Drug Arrest

According to reports, at about 7:30pm on Wednesday 3 March, 2016, police were in water in Bimini where they saw four men in a boat acting suspiciously. Upon seeing the officers, the men sped away and made good their escape following a short chase.

Shortly at about 9:30pm, a search was conducted in the area where two men were found in the water with a number of packages suspected to be cocaine.

Both men were arrested and the drugs seized. Police investigations continue.

Drugs, 3 Firearms Seized and 5 Arrested

Police are reporting that the Commissioner's 2016 Policing Plan continues to reap success with the seizure of 3 more illegal firearms, the discovery of a quantity of dangerous drugs and the arrest of five (5) persons over the past 24 hours.

In the first incident, around 6:00pm on Monday 29th February 2016, officers from the Selective Enforcement Team acting on intelligence conducted a search of two males inside a business establishment on Shirley Street and found a Glock 40 pistol with 10 rounds of ammunition in their possession. The two males were arrested and taken into custody.

Then shortly before 11:00am on Tuesday 1st March 2016, officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit were on routine patrol on East Street when they observed a black vehicle with two suspicious males inside. The officers signaled to the occupants to stop the vehicle, however they refused and sped off.

The officers gave chase and the males stopped the vehicle on John Street and attempted to flee on foot, but were caught by the officers. A Glock Pistol with 8 rounds of ammunition was found in their possession. The two males were arrested and taken into custody.

Later that evening shortly before 11:00pm, officers from the Western Division acting on intelligence executed a search warrant on a home located at Pitt Road, where they uncovered a Glock 40 Pistol along with just over six (6) pounds of marijuana. An adult female was arrested and taken into custody.

Police are reminding the public to play their part in reducing criminal activities by reporting illegal weapons and drugs. Anyone with information that can lead to seizure of illegal firearms and dangerous drugs or the arrest of those who breach the Firearms Act are being asked to contact the police.

Police Seize Firearm & Drugs. Two in Custody

Police foiled a potential armed robbery attempt and removed another illegal firearm from suspects. According to reports, shortly at about 6:00pm on Monday 29 February, police acting on information saw two males in a restaurant in the Harbour Bay Shopping Centre. A search was later conducted and a handgun with 10 live rounds of ammunition along with a quantity of suspected marijuana was found on the suspects. Both men were arrested. Police investigation continue in this latest incident.

South-Western Division Police Seize Illegal Handgun

Consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Priorities for 2016, another firearm has been taken out of the hands of a criminal, this time in the Carmichael Road area on Sunday 28th February 2016. According to reports, shortly after 3:00pm, an officer from the Southwestern Division saw a man walking on Carmichael Road who wanted for a number of Housebreakings. The officer conducted a search of the man and uncovered a glock pistol with 15 rounds of ammunition. The suspect was subsequently taken into custody. Police want to question the suspect in connection with a number of housebreakings in Southwestern New Providence.

According to reports, officers from the Mobile Unit were on patrol on Madeira Street, when they saw a group of males standing behind a club. The males on seeing the officers fled on foot. The officers gave chase but were unable to catch the males. The officers made a check of the area where the males were standing and uncovered a .40 pistol. GB Police Seize 2 High-Powered Weapons and Drugs

Police in Grand Bahama have removed two more illegal firearms from the hands of criminals. According to reports, sometime around 5pm on Wednesday 24th February, 2016, a team of officers in Grand Bahama conducted a search of bushes off Frobisher drive where they discovered a black plastic bag containing two high powered rifles with one Magazine. Officers also did a further check of the bushes and discovered a black backpack with one plastic jar which contained three clear wrapped packages of suspected marijuana. Police investigations continue.

Consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Plan for 2016, Southeastern Division officers seized a second firearm in just 24- hours, at a residence off Cowpen Road on Monday 22nd February 2016.

According to reports, around 8:30am, Officers from the Southwestern Division acting on intelligence conducted a search of vehicle in front of a home off Cowpen Road, where they uncovered an unlicensed shotgun along with a bulletproof vest.

Two adult males were taken into custody in connection with this discovery.

Another Illegal Firearm Seized by Police

Consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Plan for 2016, Police seized another illegal firearm off the streets of New Providence, this time on Lobster Avenue off Blue Hill Road on Monday 22nd February 2016.

According to reports, shortly after 12:30am, Police received a report of gunshots being fired in the area of Lobster Road off Blue Hill Road. Officers from the Southwestern Division responded and saw a dark blue Honda Accord speeding away from the area. The officers pursued the vehicle, but the occupants of the vehicle eluded them.

However, the officers recovered an unlicensed shotgun thrown from the vehicle during the pursuit. Investigations are ongoing.

Hand Gun and Ammo Seized by Police in the Berry Islands. One Suspect in Custody

Consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Plan for 2016, Police took another illegal firearm out of the hands out of a criminal, this time in The Berry Islands on Friday 19th February 2016.

According to reports, shortly after 10:00am, officers from the Berry Islands Division conduct a search of a suspicious male at the Airport in Great Harbour Cay and uncovered 25 rounds of 9-millimeter ammunition. The officers then arrested the suspect and took him to his home located at Coco Cay, where they uncovered a 9-millimeter handgun with 8 rounds of 9-millimeter ammunition.

Housebreaking Suspect Arrested. Stolen Shotgun Recovered

Consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Plan for 2016, Southwestern Division officers have arrested five male housebreaking suspects and recovered a shotgun they stole during a recent house breaking.

According to reports, on Thursday 18th February 2016, Southwestern Division officers received a report of a housebreaking at a home on Marshall Road, where a shotgun along with other items was stolen. An active investigation was commenced that led to the arrest of the five male suspects between Thursday 18th February 2016 and Friday 19th February 2016.

The officers executed a search warrant on one of the suspect's home early Friday morning and recovered the shotgun stolen during the housebreaking. Investigations are ongoing.

Police Seize Two More Illegal Firearms in 24 Hours

Consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Plan for 2016, Police officers continue to strengthen their operational capabilities, which have led to the seizure of 2 more illegal firearms and the arrest of two people in the last 24 hours.

The first incident took place in Spanish Wells shortly after 2:00am on Thursday 18th February 2016, where officers from the Eleuthera Division executed a search warrant on a home and found a 7.62 rifle along with 38 rounds of ammunition. An adult male was taken into custody in connection with this seizure

Then shortly after 2:00am on Friday 19th February 2016, officers from the Northeastern Division were on routine patrol when they spotted a group of suspicious males near a Club on Arundel Street. One of the males of seeing the officers walked away from the group and threw a handgun underneath a nearby vehicle. The male was arrested and a .40 pistol with 8 rounds of ammunition was seized.

Convicted Murderer Captured

Convicted killer Ormand Leon who escaped from lawful custody two weeks ago has been captured, ending a massive Police manhunt. Thanks to a team of courageous officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit Strike Force. Preliminary reports are that shortly after 11:00pm on Wednesday 17th February 2016, a team of officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit Strike Force acting on intelligence descended on a home located on Fire Trail West off Gladstone Road, where they arrested the escaped convicted murderer Ormand Leon without incident.

The early execution of the Commissioner's Policing Plan for 2016, has led to the seizure of three (3) more illegal firearms out of the hands of criminals on Sunday 14th February 2

In the first incident, shortly after 1:00am, officers from the Eleuthera Division were on routine patrol in Hatchet Bay, when they conducted a search of a suspicious male and found a pistol with 14 rounds of ammunition in his possession. The suspect was subsequently taken into custody.

Then shortly after 2:00am, officers from the Selective Enforcement Team descended on a Night Club located on Crooked Island Street and Andros Avenue, where they conducted a search and found one (1) .40 pistol with 7 rounds of ammunition and one (1) 9 millimeter pistol with 9 rounds of ammunition. No one was arrested in this discovery. Investigations are ongoing.

Consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Priorities for 2016, The Royal Bahamas Police Force (RBPF) is reporting continued success in ridding the country of illegal firearms with the seizure of two firearms in separate incidents in New Providence over the last 24- hours.

In the first incident, shortly after 3:00pm on Friday 12th February 2016, officers from the Southwestern Division while on routine patrol conducted a search of an abandoned building on Cowpen Road, where they uncovered a .380 revolver. No one was arrested in this discovery.

second incident occurred shortly after 12:00midnight on Saturday 13th February 2016, when officers from the Selective Enforcement Team on an operation on Minnie Street, conducted a search of a suspicious male at a bar and found a .45 pistol with 14 rounds of ammunition in his possession.

suspect was taken into custody and is expected to appear in court early next week to be formally charged.

Assortment of Firearm and Ammunition Discovered

Vigilant work by Officers of the Bahamas Customs Department led to the discovery of a large amount of Firearm and Ammunition.

Reports are that on Thursday 11th February 2016 shortly before 12:00pm, police officers were called to the freight section of the Grand Bahama International Airport by custom officials, where they were shown a Samsung television box that contained an assortment of assault rifle, revolvers and ammunition.

Officers retrieved all the items and have in their custody a male resident of Grand Bahama who is assisting police with their investigation into this matter. A full scale investigation by Police and Custom Officials are ongoing.

Police Make Firearm, Ammunition and Drugs

Police are reporting the seizure of another illegal firearm from the streets of New Providence and the hands of criminals. According to reports, police executed a search warrant at a residence in Nassau Village where a 9mm handgun along with a magazine containing 14 live rounds of ammunition was discovered. Additionally, a substantial amount of suspected marijuana was also found. Two adult males and two adult females were subsequently taken into custody. Police investigation continues.

According to police reports, on today's date, police detectives in Grand Bahama executed a search warrant at a residence where a handgun was seized. Two males were taken into custody.

On Sunday 7th February 2016 sometime around 9:15pm police were on mobile patrol at Market Street and Windsor Lane where they conducted a search of a male and retreived from the waistband of his trousers a black .40 Smith and Wesson pistol with a loaded magazine containing 6 live rounds of ammunition.

Police Crack Major Illegal Firearm Ring in Grand Bahama. Three in Custody

Police have dealt a major blow to gun trafficking and illegal firearm possession and are reporting a significant arrest of three suspects by officers in Grand Bahama.

Reports are that on Saturday 6th February 2016, officers in Grand Bahama stopped the driver of a vehicle who was acting suspicious. The driver later abandoned his vehicle and fled. however, after a short chase, he was arrested and an illegal firearm was found.

A search was later conducted at his residence where eight (8) additional illegal firearms was discovered along with an assortment of ammunition. Two additional suspects were arrested.

A team of officers of the Firearms Traciing and Investigation Unit along with other officers are continuing their investigation into this latest discovery.

Police are reminding the public to play their part in reducing criminal activities by reporting illegal weapons and other criminal offences.

Anyone with information that can lead to seizure of illegal firearms and ammunition or the arrest of those who breach the Firearms Act are being asked to contact the police.

Three More Guns Seized and Several Detained as Police Anti-Crime Operation Continue

Police are reporting more success under their 'Anti-Crime Operation' led by officers from the Selective Enforcement Team with the arrest of 11 individuals, the seizure of three guns and a quantity of marijuana in the past 24 hours.

Reports are that between Thursday 4th February 2016 and early this morning (Friday 5th February 2016), the operations were carried out in several areas of New Providence.

Shortly after 4:30pm on Thursday the operation team took two adult males into custody after they found one pound of marijuana in their possession.

Then shortly after 11:00pm the operation team seized three 9mm pistols with 30 rounds of ammunition during an operation in Dorsette Alley off West Street. Two of the weapons were found in an abandoned building and the other was discovered behind a building. No one was arrested in connection with the seizures.

Additionally, the operation team arrested 9 other persons for questioning reference offences to include firearms and assault with a deadly weapon.

Police are reminding the public to play their part in reducing criminal activities by reporting illegal weapons and other criminal offences.

Anyone with information that can lead to seizure of illegal firearms and ammunition or the arrest of those who breach the Firearms Act are being asked to contact the police.

Police Bust Armed Robbery Ring. Handgun and Ammunition Seized

A major operation led by officers of the Selective Enforcement team has resulted in an armed robbery ring being busted last night. Police believed the suspects in this ring are responsible for a string of armed robberies that occurred in New Providence over the past weeks.

During last nights operation the operation team acting on information arrested three adult males and an adult female at separate locations in New Providence in connection with several recent armed robberies. During the arrests the officers recovered several cell phones stolen during the armed robberies. Additionally, the officers recovered a .45 pistol with 14 rounds of ammunition and a Honda vehicle that were used during the armed robberies. Police credits the success of this major breakthrough to excellent teamwork, precise execution of the Commissioner Policing Priorities and support from members of the public.

Police Seize Another Firearm

Reports are that around 3:00pm on Tuesday 2nd February 2016, officers from the Selective Enforcement Team were conducting an operation in the area of Key West and Spencer Streets, when they spotted a suspicious male. The suspect on seeing the police dropped a handgun to the ground and fled on foot. The officers gave chase but were unable to catch the suspect. Police retrieved the weapon and found it to be a .9 millimeter handgun with 13 rounds of ammunition.

Man Arrested for Drug Possession

According to reports, shortly after 3:00pm on Sunday 31st January 2016, Mobile Division officers were on routine patrol in the area of Millers Close off Market Street, when they conducted a search of an adult male who aroused their suspicion. During the search the officers found a quantity of marijuana. The man was subsequently taken into custody and is expected to appear in court early this week to be formally charged.

Three (3) Illegal Firearms Seized and 28 Arrested as Police Major Assault on Crime Heats Up

POLICE took three more illegal firearms out of the hands of criminals an arrested 18 persons for a number of serious criminal offences as their ongoing anti-crime operation led by officers the Selective Enforcement Team continued between Saturday 30th and Sunday 31st January 2016.

Late Saturday evening the operation team took into custody 2 adult males in connection with the shooting incident that occurred at a nightclub on Nassau Street early Saturday morning.

Then early this morning shortly after 1:00am the operation team descended on a nightclub located on Claridge Road where they conducted a search and uncovered one 9-millimeter pistol, one .45 pistol and one Kel Tec pistol along with 23 rounds of ammunition. Three adult male suspects were taken into custody in connection with this find.

Additionally, the operation team arrested 23 other individuals in connection with a number of offenses to include, firearms and attempted murder. Persons with information that can lead to seizure of illegal firearms and ammunition or the arrest of those who breach the Firearms Act are being asked to contact the police.

Assault Rifle Seized in Inagua Drug Bust

Police are reporting that in addition to the large amount of cocaine uncovered in the Inagua Drug Bust on Tuesday 26th January 2016 an assault rifle was also found. Four Haitian men and a Bahamian man on board the vessel was subsequently taken into custody in connection with this discovery.

Police Make Huge Drug Bust in Inagua

Excellent Police work by officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) along with their international partners has struck another blow against organized drug trafficking in The Bahamas with the seizure of a large amount of cocaine and the arrest of five persons on Tuesday 26th January 2016.

Reports are, that shortly before 8:00pm, a team of officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit assisted by officers from the Inagua Division, US Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and US Coastguard on operation in Inagua, conducted a search of large steel vessel and found just over 40 pounds of cocaine. Four Haitian men and a Bahamian man onboard the vessel was subsequently taken into custody.

Police Recover Another Assault Rifle

Police are reporting the removal of another illegal firearm from the nation's streets, this time in the Martin Street area on Wednesday 27th January 2017. Reports are that around 4:30 pm, officers from the Selective Enforcement Team were conducting an operation in the Martin Street area when they uncovered an assault rifle. No one was arrested in connection with this discovery.

Police Make Firearm and Drug Arrest

An adult male was taken into custody and a firearm was seized following two armed robberies that occurred on Monday 25th January 2016.

According to reports shortly after 6:30pm, three men in a silver Honda vehicle armed with a handgun robbed several passengers on a public service bus parked at a bus stop at Carmichael and Bacardi Roads of cash and before speeding off.

Then shortly after 8:00pm, a Pizza Delivery man was standing in front of the Cable Beach Shopping Center, West Bay Street, when the same three males in a silver Honda vehicle armed with a handgun approached and robbed him of his wallet containing cash and a cell phone before speeding off.

The police were immediately notified and an all points bulletin (APB) was issued for the vehicle and suspects. A short while later police on patrol spotted the vehicle driving at a high rate of speed on Gladstone Road. Several police units gave chase and the suspect's vehicle came to a stop when it crashed in the area of Jubilee Gardens near Fire Trail Road.

The suspects ran out of the vehicle and after a short foot chase Police were able to catch one of them. The other two suspects made good their escape. Police conducted a search of the suspect's vehicle and found a handgun with 4 rounds of ammunition.

Police also recovered the wallet and cash taken during the last armed robbery. Police later recovered two stolen Honda vehicles and a quantity of dangerous drugs from the suspect's home.

Late Saturday evening the operation team conducted a search of a residence at East Storr Drive, Yellow Elder Gardens, where they uncovered a 9-millimeter pistol with four rounds of ammunition. An adult male and female were taken into custody in connection with this find.

On Saturday 23 January 2016, an off duty police officer reported that while being at a bar, he saw what appeared to be a firearm in possession of a male known to him. As he approached him, a struggle shortly ensued where the suspect was able to make good his escape and the officer recovering a handgun with 15 live rounds of ammunition. Police investigation continue.

Large Drug Seizure on Mailboat, One Suspcet in Custody

An adult male from Exuma is in custody after police seized a large quantity of dangerous drugs onboard a mailboat on Thursday 21st January 2016. Reports are that around 11:00am, a team of officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit, acting on information conducted a search of a mailboat moored at the Potters Cay Dock that had just arrived from Exuma. During the search of the vessel the officers found three boxes containing 57 pounds of marijuana. An adult male of Stuart's Manor, Exuma was later taken into custody in connection with this find.

According to reports, shortly before 2:00am, officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit on patrol conducted a search of an unoccupied truck on Carmichael Road, where they uncovered a handgun along with 5 rounds of ammunition. No one was arrested for this find.

Police in GB Make Firearm Arrest

Excellent work by Officer of the Lucaya Division, resulted in the arrest of a 42 year old male who was found in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

Reports are that on Monday 18th January 2016 shortly after 9:00am, Officers of the Lucaya Division while on mobile patrol in the Freeport area, observed a male acting suspicious, who then ran on seeing the Officers. Officers gave chase and arrested the suspect who was found with a .38 revolver and ammunition.

The male suspect will be arraigned before the Magistrate Court sometime this week.

Man Who Shot at Police Arrested. Handgun Recovered

Shortly before11:00pm on Sunday 16th January 2016, officers from the Mobile Division were on patrol on Palm Tree Avenue when they saw a suspicious male walking in the area. The officers approached the male who ran to a nearby building, where he began firing at the officers with a handgun.

The officers returned fire shooting the male. A 9mm pistol with ammunition was recovered from the suspect. The suspect was transported to hospital where he remains in serious condition under heavy police guard. Investigations are ongoing.

Two More Guns Seized by Police

Police continue to reap success in ridding the streets of illegal firearms with the seizure of two more firearms and three rounds of ammunition in separate incidents on Saturday 16th January 2016.

In the first incident, shortly before 4:00pm, officers from the Selective Enforcement Team acting on information conducted a search of an unfinished building located on Pine Crest Drive, Pinewood Gardens, where they found a .45 pistol with 3 rounds of ammunition.

Later that evening shortly after 7:00pm, Officers from the Selective Enforcement Team, acting on information conducted a search of a building located on Lewis Street, where they uncovered a pistol grip rifle.

No arrests were made in these incidents.

Police are reporting the removal of another illegal firearm from the nation's streets, this time in the Nassau Street and Quarry Mission Road area on Thursday 14th January 2016.

Reports are that shortly after 8:00pm officers from the Mobile Division were on patrol on in the area when they saw a group of men who ran when they approached. When the area was searched an illegal handgun was discovered. No one was arrested for this find.

Police Seize Three Illegal Guns in New Providence

The Royal Bahamas Police Force (RBPF) is reporting continued success in their aggressive campaign to rid the streets of illegal guns with the seizure of three firearms in separate incidents in New Providence on Wednesday 13th January 2016.

In the first incident, shortly before 4:00pm, officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit on routine patrol searched an abandoned building on Baldwin Avenue off Farrington Road and found a .25 automatic pistol. No one was arrested in connection with the find.

In the second incident, shortly before 5:00pm, officers from the Selective Enforcement Team on routine patrol searched a vacant property on Claridge Road and found a .45 automatic pistol along with a .357 revolver and 4 rounds of ammunition. No one was arrested in connection with the find.

Another Illegal Firearm Seized by Police. 1 in Custody

Police have taken another illegal handgun off the streets of New Providence, following the arrest of an adult male on Tuesday 12th January 2016.

Reports are that shortly after 4:00pm, officers from the Selective Enforcement Team acting on information went to a business establishment located Market and Lewis Streets, where they arrested an adult male after they found a handgun with 15 rounds of ammunition in his possession.

Man Arrested with AK-47 Rifle Following Montell Heights Shooting

A team of courageous officers from the Royal Bahamas Police Force have arrested an adult male and seized an AK- 47 Assault Rifle, following a shooting incident in Montell Heights on Monday 11th January 2016.

Reports are that shortly after 1:00pm, police received a report of gunshots being fired in the Montell Height area by a group of men that resulted in an adult woman and a young boy receiving non-life threatening injuries. The suspects fled before the police arrived. Responding officers from the Selective Enforcement Team and Mobile Division intercepted the suspect running across the East West Highway with an AK- 47 Assault rifle. The officers engaged the suspect and he dropped the weapon.

The suspect was arrested and the weapon recovered. The two victims were transported to hospital where they are detained in stable condition.

Police have launched an island-wide manhunt for the remaining suspects.

Police are reporting the removal of another illegal firearm off the streets of New Providence on Saturday 9th January 2016.

Reports are that shortly after 4:00pm, officers from the South Central Division acting on information conducted a search of a home located at Wilson Track, where they uncovered an illegal pistol with 3 live rounds of ammunition and a quantity of marijuana. The suspect was subsequently arrested and taken into custody.

Police Anti-Crime Operation Seize Firearm

The police are reporting the removal of another illegal firearm from the nation's streets and the arrest of 15 persons for a number of serious offenses during an ongoing anti-crime operation conducted by officers from the elite Selective Enforcement Team on Thursday 7th January 2016.

During yesterday's operation the operation, the team executed a search warrant on a home located in Montel Heights, where they uncovered an illegal handgun. One adult male and two adult females were taken into custody for this discovery.

Additionally, 9 other persons were arrested for a number of serious offenses to include house breaking, stolen vehicle, assault with a deadly instrument and questioning reference to firearms.

Two Illegal Firearms Seized by Police. One in Custody

Police took two illegal handguns off the streets of New Providence in separate incidents in New Providence on Wednesday 6th January 2016.

In the first incident, shortly after 11:00am, officers from the Selective Enforcement Team acting on information went to Lightbourne Street, Yellow Elder Gardens where they arrested an adult male after they found a handgun with 8 rounds of ammunition in his possession.

In the second incident, shortly after 1:00pm, officers from the Selective Enforcement Team acting on information went to the Potters Cay Dock, where they conducted a search of a bathroom facility and found an illegal handgun. No one was arrested in this find.

Handgun and Drugs Seized. Two in Custody

The police are reporting that two males ages 38 and 16 years are now in custody following the seizure of a firearm and a quantity of dangerous drugs on Tuesday 5th January 2016.

Reports are that around 4:00pm, officers from the Selective Enforcement Team executed a search warrant on a home located at Bozine Town, where they uncovered a handgun along with 2 rounds of ammunition and a quantity of marijuana. The two males were subsequently arrested and taken into custody

Suspect Who Fired at Police Arrested. Handgun and Ammo Seized

Police seized a handgun and arrested an adult male following an exchange of gunfire on Tuesday 5th January 2016. According to reports, shortly after 10:00am, Police received a report of gunshots being fired in the area of Spence Street, Mason's Addition. When the officers arrived in the area, the suspect who was armed with a handgun confronted them and began firing at them. The officers returned fire and the suspect fled on foot. Police then formed a perimeter in the area and arrested the suspect. A handgun with 2 rounds of ammunition was found in the suspect possession.

The victim is detained in stable condition. Investigations are ongoing.

Police Seize Firearm During Anti-Crime Operation

POLICE are reporting the seizure of one illegal firearm and the arrest of 19 persons for various criminal offences as their major anti-crime operation led by the Selective Enforcement Team continued on Monday 4th January 2016.

During yesterday's operation, the team while in the area of Peter Street arrested 7 adult males after they found a quantity of marijauna in their possession.

Also yesterday, the operation team acting on intelligence descended on a nightclub located on Farrington Road, where they uncovered a handgun with 4 rounds of ammunition in a garbage container.

Also a quantity of marijuana was found. No one was arrested for this discovery.

Additionally, the operation team arrested 12 other persons for questioning reference to a number of serious offences to include murder, firearms and housebreaking.

Exuma Police Make Huge Drug Bust

According to reports, shortly after 3:00pm on Saturday 2nd January 2016, officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit and K-9 Unit assisted by officers in Exuma, while on routine patrol, went to a bushy area in Bahama Sound, where they uncovered six large packages containing 20 pounds of marijuana. No one was arrested for this find. Investigations are ongoing.

Police Seize Two Firearms. Four Men in Custody

Police are reporting the arrest of four adult males and the seizure of two firearms in separate incidents on Friday 1st January 2016.

In the first incident, around 1:00am, officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit were on routine patrol when they stopped a suspicious Honda vehicle on Eneas Street with two adult males. The officers conducted a search of the vehicle and found a pistol with 8 rounds of live rounds of ammunition. The suspects were subsequently taken into custody for this find.

In the second incident, around 4:00am, officers from the North Andros Division were on routine patrol when they stopped a suspicious Nissan Sunny vehicle in Conch Sound, North Andros with four suspicious adult males. Two of the males managed to escape and the other two were detained. The officers conducted a search of the vehicle and found an unlicensed shotgun. The suspects were subsequently taken into custody for this find.
