Police Seize Imitation Handgun. Two in Custody

In the first incident, shortly after 8:30pm, officers from the Mobile Division were on routine patrol on Village Road when they observed two men on motorbikes armed with handguns. The officers pursued the two suspects and one of the armed men fired several shots at them. The officers returned fire forcing one of the suspects to stop. An imitation handgun was found in the suspect's possession and he was taken into custody. The other suspect was able to elude the officers.

In the second incident, a short while later Mobile Division officers acting on information arrested another adult male motorcyclist on Kemp Road for questioning reference to firearm possession.

Police Seize Illegal Handgun. Man in Custody

Police are reporting the arrest of an adult male after an illegal weapon was found in his possession on Thursday 31st December 2015. According to reports, shortly after 2:00am, officers from the Selective Enforcement Team acting on information conducted a search the suspect at a bar located on Baillou Hill Road South and found a pistol with 10 rounds of ammunition in his possession. The suspect was subsequently taken into custody for this find.

Man Arrested at LPIA for Firearm Possession

A Bahamian American man who resides in Palm Bay, Florida, is in custody after he was arrested at LPIA for possession of a firearm on Sunday 27th December 2015. According to reports, shortly after 6:00pm, the man was returning to the United States, when United States Customs and Border Patrol officials detained him at the United States Pre-Clearance Departure Lounge at LPIA after an illegal handgun was discovered in his luggage. The man was handed over to the police and is expected to appear in court early this week to be formally charged.

Police Seize Two Illegal Firearms. Two Men in Custody

In the first incident, shortly after 10:30pm on Friday 25th December 2015, officers from the Selective Enforcement Team were conducting an operation on Dennis Court, Yellow Elder Gardens, when three males in the area aroused their suspicion. One of the males on seeing the officers fled on foot. After a short foot chase, the officers caught the male. The officers conducted a search of the male and found a handgun in his possession. The suspect was subsequently taken into custody.

In the second incident, shortly after 2:00am on Saturday 26th December 2015, officers from the Mobile Division were on routine patrol on East Street South, when the conducted a search of a man outside of a nightclub and found a handgun with 2 rounds of ammunition in his possession. The suspect was subsequently taken into custody.

Police Seize AK-47 Rifle

According to reports, shortly after 11:00am on Tuesday 22nd December 2015, officers from the Selective Enforcement Team on routine patrol on Augusta Street and Cambridge Lane, conducted a search of an abandoned building, where they uncovered a AK-47 Assault Rifle. No one was arrested for this find.

Police Seize Handgun and Ammunition During Operation

Police are reporting positive results under a special Holiday Operation conducted by officers from the Central Detective Unit (CDU) on Monday 21st December 2015 – aimed at disrupting crime groups and targeting persons involved in criminal activities.

Last evening's operation resulted in the seizure of an illegal firearm and ammunition, and the arrest of three persons in separate incidents.

In the first incident, shortly after 9:00pm a woman was held up by three armed men on Carmichael Road and robbed of her Honda Civic vehicle. Police gave chase after the three suspects who crashed near the junction of Carmichael Road and Faith Avenue, where they fled on foot. A short while later one of the suspects was arrested a short distance away by CDU officers.

In the second incident, shortly after 11:30pm, CDU Special Operation team conducted a search of a white Ford truck on Carmichael Road near Milo Butler Highway and uncovered 31 rounds of live 9 millimeter ammunition. Two adult males were taken into custody for this find.

In the final incident, shortly after 1:00am on Tuesday 22nd December 2015, the operation team uncovered a handgun with 5 rounds of ammunition near a garbage bin at Pride Estates. No one was arrested for this find.

Drugs and Firearm Seized During DEU Operation

Drug Enforcement Unit officers seized a firearm and a quantity of dangerous drugs during an operation conducted on Saturday 19th December 2015.

During the operation that targeted persons suspected to be involved in the sale of illicit drugs, two arrests were made.

An adult male of Star Estates was arrested for questioning reference to dangerous drugs and firearms, and an adult male of Infant View Road was arrested for possession of dangerous drugs with intent to supply.

Firearm Seized by Officers of South-Western Division

According to reports, shortly after 1:00pm on Saturday 19th December 2015, officers from the Southeastern Division seized a shotgun. The shotgun was found outside of a home in the South Beach area. No one was arrested for this find.

Man Arrested After Police Find Pistol

Police on patrol seized a firearm and several rounds of ammunition on Robinson Road, on Friday 12th December 2015. Reports are that shortly after 2:30am, Northeastern Division officers were in the area on routine patrol, when they observed three suspicious males riding on the rear of a truck.

The officers brought the vehicle to a stop and one of the males jumped off and fled on foot. The officers gave chase and caught the male. The officers conducted a search of the male and found a pistol with 8 rounds of ammunition in his possession. The suspect was subsequently taken into custody.

Police Seize Shotgun During Police Operation

Consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Plan for 2015, police are reporting the seizure of one illegal firearm, a quantity of dangerous drugs and the arrest of 4 persons as officers of the Selective Enforcement Team intensified their Island-wide anti-crime operation on Thursday 10th December 2015.

The first arrest occurred shortly before 4:00pm, when the operation team seized an unlicensed shotgun during a search of a Key West Street home. Two adult males were taken into custody.

A shortly while later the operation team conducted a search of another home on Key West Street, where they found a quantity of marijuana.

An adult male was taken into custody for this discovery.

Later that evening the officers arrested an adult male on Second Street, Coconut Grove after they found a quantity of marijuana in his possession. Police credits the success of this ongoing major assault on crime to excellent team-work, intelligence led policing, precise execution of its policing plan and support from members of the public.

Selective Enforcement Team Seize Another Illegal Firearm. Man in Custody

Officers from the Selective Enforcement Team took another firearm off the streets of New Providence, following the arrest of an adult male on Monday 7th December 2015. According to reports, shortly after 12:00midnight, officers from the Selective Enforcement Team were conducting an operation in the area of Arawak Cay, when they saw the suspect who aroused their suspicion. The officers accosted the suspect and found a handgun with 7 rounds of ammunition in his possession. The suspect was taken into custody for questioning.

Police Seize Tw (2) Guns in Separate Incidents

In the first incident, shortly after 2:00pm on Saturday 5th December 2015, Southwestern Division officers assisted by officers from the Selective Enforcement Team seized a handgun during an operation on Spikenard Road. No one was arrested for this discovery.

Then about an hour later, Eastern Division officers seized a handgun during an operation on Armbrister Street, Fox Hill. No one was arrested for this discovery.

DEU Officers Seize Illegal Firearm

Shortly before 6:00pm on Friday 4th December 2015, officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit conducted a search of a bushy area located on Horse Shoe Drive, where they uncovered a handgun. No one was arrested for this discovery.

SELT Seize Another Illegal Firearm. Suspect in Custody

Officers from the Selective Enforcement Team took another firearm off the streets of New Providence, following the arrest of an adult male on Wednesday 2nd December 2015.

According to reports, shortly after 6:00pm, officers from the Selective Enforcement Team were conducting an operation in the area of Augusta Street, when they saw three males who aroused their suspicion. The three males on seeing the officers fled on foot. The officers gave chase and caught one of the males who had an illegal handgun in his possession. The suspect was taken into custody for questioning.

Police Seize Tw (2) Guns in Separate Incidents. Five (5) in Custody

Consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Priorities for 2015, Police continue to remove illegal firearms off the streets of New Providence, with the seizure of two firearms and the arrest of five persons overnight.

In the first incident, shortly after 10:30pm on Saturday 28th November 2015, Mobile Division Officers were on routine patrol on Huyler Street, when an adult male walking in the area aroused their suspicion. The officers accosted the male and found a handgun with several rounds of ammunition in his possession. The adult male was then taken into custody.

In the second incident, shortly after 1:00am on Sunday 29th November 2015, Northeastern Division Officers were on routine patrol on Collins Avenue, when they saw a vehicle in the area aroused their suspicion. The officers ordered the occupants of the vehicle to stop but they refused and sped off. After a short chase the officers brought the vehicle to a stop on Mt. Royal Avenue. The officers conducted a search of the vehicle and found a handgun with several rounds of ammunition in the vehicle. Two adult males along with two adult females were taken into custody.

Police Officer Recovers Firearm After Foiled Armed Robbery

A police officer is being commended for his courageous actions that led to an armed robbery being foiled on Thursday 26th November 2015.

According to reports shortly before 8:00pm, a Police Officer was in the area of a convenience store located on St. Albans Drive, when he observed two men attempting to rob the store. The officer announced he was a police officer and the robbers ran after dropping an illegal handgun.

Police are actively searching for the suspects.

Illegal Firearm and Ammunition Seized. One in Custody

An adult male was taken into custody in relation to the seizure of a firearm and several rounds of ammunition on Wednesday 25th November 2015. Reports are that shortly after 2:00pm, a special operations team was on patrol on Fowler Street, when saw the suspect standing among a group of men. The suspect on seeing the officers threw an object to the ground and fled on foot. The officers recovered a .45 pistol and nine rounds of ammunition. The suspect was subsequently taken into custody.

Five (5) Firearms Seized. 11 Arrested as Police Anti-Crime Operation Heats Up

POLICE are reporting the seizure of 5 illegal firearms and the arrest of 11 persons for firearms and dangerous drugs by officers the Selective Enforcement Team over the past 48 hours. The operation which is consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Priorities for 2015, is part of the force strategy to cut down on criminal activity by targeting problem locations and persons engaged in criminal activities such as, murder, armed robbery, rape, shootings, stolen vehicle, firearms and drugs.

In the first incident, shortly after 11:00am on Thursday 19th November 2015, 2 high-powered weapons with 24 rounds of ammunition along with a quantity of marijuana was seized by officers from the Special Selective Enforcement Team at a home on Dorsette Alley. Three adult males and two adult females were arrested for the seizure.

In the second incident, shortly after 12:00am on Friday 20th November 2015, officers from the Special Selective Enforcement Team seized a pistol with 8 rounds of ammunition on East Street South. Two adult males and one adult female were arrested for the seizure.

In the third incident, shortly after 2:00am on Saturday 21st November 2015, officers from the Special Selective Enforcement Team seized a pistol with 18 rounds of ammunition on Madeira Street. Three adult males were arrested for the seizure.

A short while later, officers from the Special Selective Enforcement Team seized a pistol with 8 rounds of ammunition in a vehicle on Madeira Street. No one was arrested for the seizure.

Firearm Recovered Following Car Chase. Four Suspects Being Sought

POLICE are reporting the seizure of an illegal firearm by officers from the Mobile Division following a car chase on Sunday 22nd November 2015. According to reports, shortly after 3:00am, officers from the Mobile Division were on routine patrol when they heard the sound of gunshots on Dunmore Street. The officers then saw a suspicious vehicle speeding away from the area.

The officers gave chase after the vehicle, that ended on Tonique Darling Highway, where four males abandoned the vehicle, fired several shots at the police and fled on foot. The officers returned fire and gave chase, but were unable to catch the males. A search was conducted of the vehicle and a pistol with a quantity of ammunition was found. Police is searching for the four males.

Police Seize Two (2) Handguns and Ammunition

Police are reporting the seizure of two firearms and twelve rounds of ammunition in separate incidents on Monday 16th November 2015. In the first incident, shortly after 9:30am, a Police Officer from the Police Traffic Department was on patrol on Roland Street, when two adult males riding a moped aroused his suspicion. The two males were accosted and searched and a handgun with 6 rounds of ammunition was found in their possession. The two males were subsequently taken into custody.

In the second incident, shortly after 7:00pm, officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit conducted a search of a park on Iguana Way and a handgun with 6 rounds of ammunition was found. No one was taken into custody in connection with the seizure.

Police Seize Handgun During Operation

The police are reporting that an illegal firearm was seized during an operation on Carmichael Road on Saturday 14th November 2015. Reports are that shortly after 8:00pm, a team of officers was on an operation in the area when an abandon building was searched and a handgun was found. No one was taken into custody in connection with the seizure.

Shotgun Recovered During Burglary

According to reports, shortly after 1:30am on Thursday 12th November 2015, a man was at his home located at First Street, Coconut Grove, when a male intruder broke into his home armed with a shotgun. A struggle ensured that resulted in the man disarming the intruder, who fled on foot. The shotgun was turned over to the police. Investigations are ongoing.

Police Seize Two (2) Firearms

Police are reporting that shortly before 12:00midnight on Friday 6th November 2015, officers from the Firearms Tracing and Gang Investigations Unit were on routine patrol in the area of the Marathon Mall, when two adult males who aroused their suspicions were searched and a handgun along with 2 rounds of ammunition were found in their possession. The two men were taken into custody for questioning.

Police Seize Handgun and Ammunition

Police Officers from the Central Division are reporting the recovery of a handgun with 5 rounds of ammunition that was dropped by a male suspect during a chase on Sunday 8th November 2015. Police is searching for the suspect in this incident.

Police Seize Two (2) Firearms

In the first incident, around 1:30pm on Wednesday 4th November 2015, officers from the Flying Squad while routine patrol on West Street arrested an adult male for possession of an unlicensed handgun.

In the second incident, around 2:00pm on Thursday 5th November 2015, officers from the Mobile Division while on routine patrol in Mason's Addition arrested two adult males and an adult female for possession of an unlicensed handgun.

Police Seize Four (4) High Powered Weapons, Drugs and Ammunition

As a result of outstanding police work by Detectives from the Flying Squad, a prolific adult male offender who is on bail for a number of serious offences, was arrested at a residence in Southern New Providence on Friday 6th November 2015, following the seizure of 4 high-powered firearms, a shotgun, a large amount of ammunition and a large quantity of marijuana. Investigations are ongoing.

Guns and Ammunition Seized by Police. Two (2) in Custody

Consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Priorities for 2015, Police officers across the island continue to clamp down on illegal firearms and ammunition with the seizure of four firearms and 25 rounds of ammunition in the past 24 hours.

In the first incident, at about 5:30pm on Saturday 31st October 2015, officers from the Flying Squad acting on information searched a bushy area off Joe Farrington Road resulting in the seizure of 25 rounds of ammunition and a quantity of dangerous drugs. No one was arrested in connection with the find.

In the second incident shortly before 9:00pm on Saturday 31st October 2015, officers from the Eastern Division acting on information searched an abandoned vehicle at Blue Berry Hill Road, where they found a handgun. No one was arrested in connection with the find.

In the third incident around 11:00pm on Saturday 31st October 2015, officers from the Eastern Division acting on information searched an abandoned building at Blue Berry Hill Road, where they found a handgun. No one was arrested in connection with the find.

In the fourth incident, shortly before 1:00am on Sunday 1st November 2015, police received a report of gunshots being fired on Independence Drive near Baillou Hill Road. When officers from the Mobile Division arrived in the area they met a group of males who fled on foot. One of the males dropped a firearm to the ground whilst running away. The officers gave chase but were unable to catch the men. A handgun was recovered from the scene.

The final incident occurred shortly after 1:00am on Sunday 1st November 2015, when officers from the Flying Squad intercepted a black jeep, with an adult male aboard, at Windsor Place. The vehicle was searched and one .45 pistol and 6 rounds were seized. The adult male was taken into custody and is expected to appear in court early this week to be formally charged.

Police Seize Firearm and Ammunition

According to reports, shortly before 6:00pm, on Saturday 17th October 2015, officers from Firearms Tracing and Gang Investigations Unit, acting on information went to the Southern Cemetery located on Spikenard Road, where they uncovered a handgun along with three rounds of ammunition.

No one was arrested for this discovery.

Handgun Seized by Police Following High Speed Chase

POLICE seized a handgun and arrested a 20- year old man following a high-speed chase on Wednesday 14th October 2015.

According to reports, shortly after 1:00am, officers from the Mobile Division were on routine patrol when spotted a grey vehicle travelling on Prince Charles Drive that aroused their suspicion. The officers ordered the occupant of the vehicle to stop but he refused and sped off with a high rate of speed.

A chase ensured that ended at Claridge and Robinson Roads, where the vehicle came to a stop after it overturned. The officers conducted a search of the vehicle and found a handgun along several rounds of ammunition.

The suspect was also taken into custody. Investigations are ongoing

DEU Seize Firearm

According to reports, shortly before 4:00pm on Monday 12th October 2015, officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) acting on information went to Hutchenson Street, where they uncovered a handgun along with 5 rounds of ammunition underneath a trailer. No one was arrested in this discovery.

Police Seize Three Firearms

POLICE are reporting the seizure of three firearms off the streets of New Providence in separate incidents on Monday 12th October 2015.

In the first incident, around 5:00pm, a team of officers from the Mobile Division was on routine patrol on East Street and Fritz Lane, when two males in a Gray 1994 Nissan Sentra aroused their suspicion. The two males were accosted and during a search of the vehicle a 12 Guage shotgun was uncovered. The two males ages 35 and 24 were taken into custody for questioning.

In the second incident, shortly after 7:00pm, officers from the Eastern Division acting on information went to Warren Street, where they uncovered a rifle along with 7 rounds of ammunition. No one was arrested in for this discovery.

In the third incident, around 7:30pm, a team of officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) was on routine patrol on Baillou Hill, when a black Chevy four-door sedan vehicle occupied by five individuals aroused their suspicion. The occupants of the vehicle consisting of two males ages 19 and 16 along with three females ages 23, 16 and 15 were accosted and during a search of the vehicle a .380 pistol containing 2 rounds of ammunition was found. The two males and three females were taken into custody for questioning.

Police Seize Firearm and Ammunition

In the first incident, shortly after 1:00am on Saturday 10th October 2015, officers from the Flying Squad while on routine patrol conducted a search of a parked vehicle on Fox Hill Road and uncovered a shotgun.

In the second incident, around 2:00am on Saturday 10th October 2015, officers from the Flying Squad acting on information uncovered a handgun along with 14 rounds of ammunition through a track road on Fox Hill Road. An adult male was taken into custody in connection with this discovery.

In three separate incidents on Friday 9th October 2015, officers from the Eastern Division acting on information uncovered 50 rounds of ammunition in bushes located in Fox Hill.

DEU Seize Two (2) Handguns and Ammunition

According to reports, around 1:30pm on Thursday 8th October 2015, officers from The Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) acting on information, went to Pine Yard Road where they uncovered 2 handguns along with 5 rounds of ammunition. No one was arrested for this find.

Police Seize Four (4) Firearms

Consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Priorities for 2015, police continued to make headway in removing illegal weapons from our streets, with the seizure of four (4) illegal firearms in separate incidents over the weekend.

In the first incident, around 7:00pm on Friday 2nd October 2015, officers from The Mobile Division were on patrol on Bahama Avenue, where they observed a male and a female acting suspiciously. A search was conducted of the suspects and a handgun along with 5 rounds of ammunition was found in their possession. The male age 30 and the female age 32 were taken into custody for questioning.

In the second incident, shortly after 1:30pm on Saturday 3rd October 2015, officers from The Firearm Tracing and Gang Investigations Unit acting on intelligence went to Woods Alley near Andros Avenue, where they uncovered a handgun along with 7 rounds of ammunition. No one was arrested in this discovery.

In the third incident, shortly after 12:00midnight on Sunday 4th October 2015, officers from The Drug Enforcement Unit acting on intelligence went to a bushy area off Cowpen Road, where they uncovered a handgun along with 1 round of ammunition. No one was arrested in this discovery. In the fourth incident, shortly after 9:30pm on Sunday 4th October 2015, officers from The Firearm Tracing and Gang Investigations Unit acting on intelligence went to a dirt road in Gambier Village, where they uncovered a handgun along with 49 rounds of ammunition. No one was arrested in this discovery.

Police Seize Another Firearm

On Thursday 1st October, 2015, Police received certain information and went to an abandoned vehicle near the Blue Hill Sporting Complex and discovered a handgun with five (5) live rounds of ammunition. Police investigations continue.

Police Seize Two (2) Handguns and Ammunition

According to reports, around 2:30pm on Tuesday 29th September 2015, officers from the Southwestern Division acting on information conducted a search of a bushy area off Cowpen Road, where they recovered two handguns along with 19 rounds of ammunition. No one was arrested in this find.

Investigations are ongoing.

Police Seize Handgun and Ammunition

According to reports, shortly after 2:00pm on Sunday 27th September 2015, officers from the Eastern Division acting on information went to Pine Yard Road, where they uncovered a handgun along with 9 rounds of ammunition. No one was arrested for this find.

Police Seize Another Firearm

According to reports, shortly after 9:00pm on Tuesday 22nd September 2015, officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) acting on intelligence went to a bushy area at Belshore Street off Carmichael Road, where they uncovered a handgun along with 5 rounds of ammunition. No one was arrested in this discovery.

Police Seize Four (4) Firearms. Four in Custody

Police are reporting the arrest of four suspects following the seizure of four illegal firearms off the streets of New Providence in three separate incidents.

In the first incident, shortly after 10:00am on Saturday 19th September 2015, officers from the Flying Squad, acting on information went to a bushy area off Fire Trail Road, where they uncovered a shotgun. No one was arrested for this discovery.

In the second incident, shortly after 10:15am on Saturday 19th September 2015, officers from the Firearms and Gang Investigation Unit, were on patrol in the Golden Gates area when they observed a man in a truck, who aroused their suspicion. The vehicle was searched and a handgun along with several rounds of ammunition was found. The 26- year old suspect was taken into custody for questioning. Police later arrested a 27- year old man in connection with this incident.

In the third incident, around 7:00pm on Saturday 19th September 2015, officers from the Southwestern Division were on patrol in Coral Harbour, when they observed a man in a Nissan Sunny vehicle, who aroused their suspicion. The vehicle was searched and a handgun along with 9 rounds of ammunition was found. The 33- year old suspect was taken into custody and is expected to appear in court early this week to be formally charged.

In the fourth incident, around 3:00am on Sunday 20th September 2015, officers from the Flying Squad, led a team of officers to a restaurant and bar located at Cowpen Road, where they conducted a search of a 29- year old man and found a pistol containing 6 rounds of ammunition in his possession. The suspect was taken into custody and is expected to appear in court early this week to be formally charged. The female operator of the restaurant and bar was also taken into custody for breach of the Business Licence Act.

Police Seize Another Illegal Firearm

According to reports, shortly before 8:00pm on Friday 18th September 2015, officers from the Firearm Tracing and Investigation Unit, acting on information went to a bushy area off East Bay Street, where they uncovered a pistol along with 6 rounds of ammunition. No one was arrested for this discovery.

Three (3) Firearms and Large Amount of Ammunition Seized by Police

In the first incident around 5:30pm on Thursday 17th September 2015, officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) acting on information went to a bushy area off Lazaretta Road, where they uncovered a AR-15 Assault Rifle along with (26) live rounds of ammunition.

In the second incident around shortly after 7:00pm on Thursday 17th September 2015, officers from Firearm Tracing and Investigation Unit (FTIU) were on patrol on St. Margaret Road off Shirley Street when they two suspicious men walking. The men on seeing the officers fled on foot dropping a handgun to the ground. The police gave chase but were unable to catch the two men. The officers retrieved the handgun the suspects dropped to the ground and found it to be a .40 pistol.

In the third incident, shortly after 12:00midnight on Friday 18th September 2015, officers from Firearm Tracing and Investigation Unit (FTIU) acting on information went to Spikenard Road off Cowpen Road, where they uncovered a handgun along with (6) live rounds of ammunition.

In the third incident, shortly after 7:00am on Friday 18th September 2015, police acting on information went to an abandoned building on Kemp Road, where they uncovered a large amount of ammunition. No arrests were made in any of these incidents.

Police Make Firearm Arrest in Grand Bahama

A 41 year old male of Coral Fish Street is in police custody after he was found with an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.Reports are that on Friday 12th September 2015 shortly after 12:00am, Officers of the Drug Enforcement Unit while in a business establishment on East Sunrise Highway, arrested the 41 year old male after he was found in possession of a black and silver .38 Smith and Western Revolver with (5) live rounds of ammunition.

Two other weapons a licensed Remington 12 gauge shotgun and a licensed Maverick 12 gauge pump action shotgun along with (127) live rounds of shotgun shells were seized and confiscated from the suspects residence. Investigations are continuing.

Handgun Recovered During Police Operation

Consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Plan for 2015, police conducted an island-wide anti-crime operation on Friday 11th September 2015 that targeted persons suspected of being involved in criminal activities. During the operation police recovered a handgun along with two live rounds of ammunition outside of a building located at Graham Drive, Yellow Elder Gardens. No one was arrested for this discovery.

Police Arrested Suspect with Load Handgun Following Shooting

According to reports, shortly after 11:00pm on Friday 11th September 2015, police received a report of gunshots being discharged at Shady Tree Lane off Mackey Street. When police arrived in the area they observed a male acting suspiciously. The officers conducted a search of the male and found a loaded 9- millimeter pistol in his waist. The suspect was taken into custody. On making further checks the area police found a male lying on the ground with multiple gunshots to the body. The male was pronounced dead at the scene. Police then learnt that another male and a female was also shot and transported to hospital, where the male condition is serious and the female remains in stable condition. Preliminary reports are, that a group of persons were attending a 'wake' at Shady Tree Lane, when a fight broke out resulting in the exchange of gunfire.

Police Seize Two (2) Handguns. Three in Custody

Consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Priorities for 2015, police have seized two more firearms out of the hands of criminals in New Providence in separate incidents over the past 24 hours.

In the first incident, shortly after 2:00pm on Thursday 10th September 2015, a police officer from the Police Tourism Unit was on foot patrol on Woods Rodgers Wharf, when he attempted to stop a Honda vehicle occupied by two suspicious males. However, the occupants of the vehicle refused to stop. The officer gave chase on foot and was able to bring the vehicle to a stop nearby. The male passenger exited the vehicle fled on foot, but he was caught after a short foot chase. A search was conducted of the male and a handgun containing 7 live rounds of ammunition was found in his possession. With the assistance of other officers, the two suspects were taken into custody for questioning.

In the second incident, shortly before 10:00am on Friday 11th September 2015, officers from the Mobile Division were on patrol in the area of the Mall at Marathon, where observed a suspicious male riding on a bicycle. The officers conducted a search of the male and found a handgun in his possession. The suspect was taken into custody for questioning

Two (2) Suspects in Custody Following Shooting. Firearm Recovered

In the first incident, shortly after 10:00am on Friday 10th September 2015, police received a report of a male attacking another male in front of a business establishment on East Street South. When police arrived on the scene they met a male walking with a long army knife in his hand. The officers ordered the male to drop the knife but he refused and began to charge towards the officers. The officers in fear of their life fired at the male hitting him in the leg. The male was arrested and transported to hospital, where he is detained in stable condition.

In the second incident, around 1:00pm on Friday 10th September 2015, a man was walking through a track road between John Chipman Street and Toote Shop Corner, when he was shot in the back by a man who fled on foot. A police officer walking in the area saw the suspect running towards him with a handgun and ordered him to drop his weapon. However, the suspect refused to drop his weapon and pointed it at the officer. The officer in fear of his life and for the safety of residents in the immediate area fired at the suspect shooting him in the leg. The suspect dropped his weapon and ran. The officer gave chase and caught the suspect a short distance away. Police recovered a .45 pistol from the scene. The suspect is detained stable condition under heavy police guard. The other man shot is detained in serious condition.

Police Take Another Firearm from the Hands of Criminals

Two men age 25 and 18 years are in custody after Eastern Division officers arrested them for an illegal handgun on Tuesday 8th September 2015.

According to reports, shortly after 12:30pm, officers from the Eastern Division were on routine patrol on Holly Road. when they stopped a suspicious Chevy Trail Blazer vehicle being occupied by the two suspects. The officers conducted a search of the vehicle and found a .22 pistol with containing 10 rounds of ammunition. The two suspects were subsequently taken into custody for questioning.

Police Recover Firearm Following Arrest of Armed Robbery Suspects

Quick action by police has led to the arrest of two males ages 21 years following an armed robbery that occurred on Saturday 5th September 2015. According to reports, shortly after 4:00pm, police received a report that a man was held up and robbed of his cell phone, cash and jewelry by two males armed with handguns in a bushy area off Carmichael Road. Officers from the Southwestern Division responded and arrested the two suspects in the nearby area.

The officers recovered from the suspects a .22 handgun, an imitation handgun, along with the complainant's cash, cell phone and jewelry. The suspects are being questioned in connection several other armed robberies.

Police have taken another firearm off the streets of New Providence following the arrest of an adult male and two adult females on Sunday 30th August 2015. According to reports, around 9:00pm, a team of officers from the Eastern Division acting on intelligence executed a search warrant on a home located at Thundra Court, where they uncovered a handgun. The three suspects were taken into custody for questioning.

DEU Make Large Drug Bust at Winton Home. Four (4) in Custody

Police has dealt another major blow to the drug traffickers following the seizure of a large amount of illegal drugs and the arrest of two men ages 74 and 41 along with two women ages 71 and 46 on Wednesday 26th August 2015. According to reports shortly after 7:00pm, a team of officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) acting on intelligence executed a search warrant on a home located at Hill View Drive, Winton Meadows Estates, where they uncovered several crocus sacks containing a large amount of marijuana.

The 71-year old male and the two women were taken into custody for questioning. Shortly after 1:00am on Thursday 27th August 2015, the 41- year old male turned himself into DEU for questioning in connection with this discovery.

Gun Suspect Killed

A man is dead after he pointed a handgun at police officers on Sunday 23rd August 2015.

According to reports, shortly after 10:00pm, police received information that a group of young men were armed with firearms in front of a home located at Providence Avenue near Infant View Road. Police upon arrival at Providence Avenue met a group of males standing in front of a home.

The men fled on seeing the police. Police gave chase and caught up with one of the males who pointed a handgun at them. Police in defense of their lives fired upon the male, fatally shooting him.

The male was pronounced dead at the scene. Police recovered a handgun that the male dropped to the ground.

Her Majesty's Coroner, Mrs. Jeanine Weech-Gomez visited the scene and commenced an investigation into the incident. All inquiries are to be directed to Mrs. Jeanine Weech-Gomez at Royal Victoria Gardens.

Three males ages 42, 29 and 26 are in custody after they were arrested for firearm possession on Sunday 16th August 2015. Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Priorities for 2015, around 6:00pm, officers from the Mobile Unit were on patrol on McKinney Drive, when they stopped a Honda Accord car with the three suspects inside acting suspiciously. The officers conducted a search of the vehicle and discovered a .22 Pistol containing 7 live rounds of ammunition.

The three suspects were taken into custody are expected to appear in court early this week to be formally charged.

Two Firearms Recovered After Police Shoot and Kill Armed Robbery Suspects

Two males are dead and another is detained in critical condition shortly after they committed an armed robbery and led police on a high-speed chase on Sunday 16th August 2015.

According to reports, shortly after 5:00am, a man was driving in his white Honda Fit vehicle on East Street near Robinson Road, when three males, two of whom were armed with handguns and another with a knife robbed him of his car and drove off. Police immediately sent out an All Points Bulletin (APB) for the vehicle.

A short while later officers on patrol spotted the vehicle in the Robinson Road area. A chase ensued that ended on Balfour and Claridge Roads, where the vehicle crash into a utility pole. Three male suspects alighted the vehicle and opened fire on police.

Police returned fire fatally shooting two of the suspects. The other suspect was rushed to hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

Police recovered the stolen vehicle, two handguns and a knife from the scene.

Police suspect the three males to be responsible for a number of armed robberies over the past weeks and can confirm that one of the suspects is being electronically monitored and is on bail for a serious offence.

Her Majesty's Coroner, Mrs. Jeanine Weech-Gomez visited the scene and is now leading this investigation. All inquiries are to be directed to Mrs. Jeanine Weech-Gomez at Royal Victoria Gardens.

According to reports, around 5:00pm on Friday 14th August 2015, security officials at the Domestic Section at LPIA conducted a search of a handbag of a 25- year old woman of Jubilee Gardens and found a 9-millimeter handgun. The police were notified and the woman was arrested and taken into custody.

According to reports, shortly after 1:00am, a team of officers from the Firearm Tracing and Investigation Unit were on patrol, when they observed two suspicious males sitting in a Honda vehicle on Soldier Road. The officers conducted a search of the vehicle and found a 9- millimeter pistol containing 6 rounds of ammunition. The two males ages 24 and 20, were taken into custody for questioning reference to firearm possession, suspected stolen vehicle and murder.

Consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Priorities for 2015, police have taken two more illegal firearms off the streets of New Providence over the past 24 hours. In the first incident, around 4:30pm on Thursday 6th August 2015, officers from the Mobile Division were on patrol, when they observed two suspicious males in a van on Madeira Street. On seeing the officers one of the males threw a handgun outside of the van. The officers retrieved the handgun that contained 7 rounds of ammunition.

The officers then took the two 31- year old males of Skyline Drive and East Ridge into custody for questioning.

In the second incident, shortly before 5:00pm on Thursday 6th August 2015, officers from the Flying Squad acting on information went to Hospital Lane and Dunmore Street, where they uncovered a handgun from underneath a pile of trash. No one was arrested in this incident.

A 27- year old male is in custody after he was arrested for possession of a firearm on Monday 3rd August 2015. According to reports, shortly after 11:00pm, officers from the Firearm Tracing and Investigation Unit (FTIU) were on patrol on Baillou Hill Road South, when they observed a suspicious male walking away from a parked vehicle.

The officers conducted a search of the male and found a 9- millimeter pistol in his waist. The 27- year old suspect was taken into custody and is expected to appear in court later this week to be formally charged.

Drug Enforcement Unit Officers along with other Law Enforcement Officials, on Tuesday 28th July 2015 around 10:00am, while on routine air patrol in the area of the Lucayan National Park, discovered several plots of suspected marijuana plants, ranging from six inches to two feet in height. The total amount of suspected marijuana plants discovered were 5,860. The estimated street value is over five hundred thousand dollars. No arrest was made in this matter. Investigations are continuing.

POLICE are reporting the arrest of five adult males for possession of a high-powered firearm on Tuesday 14th July 2015. According to reports, around 5:30pm, officers from the Southwestern Division were on patrol on Faith Avenue south, where they observed the five males standing near a Toyota vehicle acting suspiciously.

The officers conducted a search of the vehicle and found an AK-47 Assault Rifle along with 60 live rounds of ammunition.

Five (5) Bahamians and A Jamaican Arrested Following Major Drug Bust

A combination of teamwork and excellent 'textbook' Police work has dealt a major blow to the drug traffickers in the Bahamas, after police arrested five Bahamian males along with a Jamaican male for possession of a large quantity of marijuana on Wednesday 15th July 2015.

According to reports, shortly after 12:30am, a team of Officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit assisted by officers from the Police Marine Support Unit acting on intelligence, intercepted a go-fast boat in waters off Kemps Bay, Andros, with the five suspects onboard.

Drug Enforcement Unit officers conducted a search of the vessel and found a large quantity of marijuana. The five suspects were taken into custody for questioning.

According to reports, shortly after 12:00am, on Tuesday 14th July 2015, officers from the Mobile Division acting on intelligence went to Graham Drive, Yellow Elder Gardens, where they observed a male acting suspiciously. The officers retrieved a .380 pistol from the ground along with one (1) live round of ammunition and took the 26- year old male of Graham Drive into custody. Police Seize Three Illegal Firearms

Consistent with the Commissioner's

Policing Priorities for 2015, Police conducted several operations in New Providence over the past 24 hours that resulted in the recovery of three (3) illegal firearms and the arrest of two persons.

In the first incident, shortly after 12:00noon yesterday, officers from the Flying Squad acting on intelligence went to a track road off Farrington Road, where they uncovered a .40 pistol. No one was arrested for this discovery.

In the second incident, shortly before 2:00am this morning, a team of officers from the Flying Squad acting on intelligence went to a nightclub located on Fox Hill Road, where they conducted a search of a 34-year old man from Grand Bahama and found a .40 pistol along with 10 live rounds of ammunition in his possession. The suspect was taken into custody and is expected to appear in court early this week to be formally charged.

In the third incident, shortly after 3:00am this morning officers from the Mobile Division acting on intelligence went to a nightclub located at St. Albans Drive, where they conducted a search of a 37- year old man of Quaker Street and found a .45 pistol along with 17 live rounds of ammunition in his possession. The suspect was taken into custody and is expected to appear in court early this week to be formally charged.

Shortly after 1:00pm yesterday, officers from 'Operation Take Down' were on patrol in the area of Sunset Park, when they saw a suspicious male walking in the area. The male of seeing the officers dropped a handgun and fled on foot. The officers gave chase but were unable to catch the suspect. The officers then retrieved the handgun and found it to be a .380 pistol containing 8 live rounds of ammunition. Police are searching for the suspect in this incident.

Reports are that on Monday 6th July 2015 shortly before 5:00pm, Officers of Bahamas Customs while at San Tropez Marina boarded a vessel and discovered a black and chrome colored .9mm pistol with (2) magazine containing (17) .9mm ammunition to which they fail to declare. They were taken into custody and handed over to Police.

Reports are that shortly after 4:30pm, a team of officers from the Flying Squad acting on intelligence conducted a search of a home located Dorsette Alley and West Street, where they found a 9- millimeter pistol along with 10 rounds of ammunition. An adult male and female were taken into custody in connection with this find.

Mobile Division Officers Make Firearm Arrest

Consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Priorities for 2015, officers from the Mobile Division were on patrol on Bernard Road around 7:30pm last night, when they saw a man driving a Honda vehicle acting suspiciously. The officers ordered the man to stop the vehicle, but he refused and sped off. The officers gave chase and the vehicle later crashed into a wall at Bar Twenty Corner, where the driver was caught. A search was conducted of the vehicle and a .32 pistol containing several rounds of ammunition was found. The 24- year old man of Culmerville was taken into custody and is expected to appear in court early this week to be formally charged. Police can confirmed that the suspect is on bail for an indictable offence is being electronically monitored.

The 31- year old man of Flamingo Gardens was taken into custody and is expected to appear in court early next week to be formally charged.

Police Crack Armed Robbery Ring

At a press conference on Wednesday evening at Police Headquarters, Police Commissioner Ellison Greenslade announced that the arrest of two men after an attempted armed robbery has helped police solve a string of 13 armed robberies. On Monday 15th June 2015, sometime after 9:00pm alert officers from the Mobile Division saturation patrol, arrested two men in the Kennedy Subdivision area and recovered a firearm following an armed robbery in Garden Hills. Police launched an intense investigation that resulted in 13 recent armed robberies being solved. Additionally, 5 vehicles and several items taken during these armed robberies were recovered. Five additional suspects have also being arrested in connection with these robberies. Commissioner Greenslade credits the success of this major breakthrough to excellent teamwork, intelligence led policing, precise execution of the RBPF policing plan and support from members of the public.

Police Commissioner Reveals Large Firearm and Ammunition Seizure

POLICE COMMISSIONER REVEALS LARGE FIREARM AND AMMUNITION SEIZURE At a press conference Wednesday evening at Police Headquarters, Police Commissioner Ellison Greenslade announced that police seized 11 firearms and arrested 5 individuals during two separate intelligence led operations. In the first operation, on Monday 8th June 2015, officers from the Firearms Tracing and Investigation Unit acting on intelligence were able seize three firearms along with 517 rounds of ammunition, which were recovered through a courier service. Three men are in custody in connection with this seizure. Additional arrests are expected both here in the Bahamas and in another jurisdiction. The second seizure took place shortly after 5:00pm on Tuesday 16th June 2015, following an operation conducted by officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit at a port of entry in New Providence. DEU officers were able to follow two suspects to a location, where they arrested them after uncovering 8 illegal firearms in their possession. Officers from the Firearm Tracing and Investigation Unit are continuing investigations into these matters.

Eight (8) Illegal Firearms Seized During Major Operation by DEU. Two (2) Arrested

Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) officers are reporting the seizure 8 firearms and the arrest of two men ages 35 and 21, following a major intelligence led operation on Tuesday 16th June 2015. Reports are, that shortly after 5:00pm, Drug Enforcement Unit Officers acting on intelligence received during an operation at the Arawak Cay Container Port followed a delivery truck occupied by the two suspects to Windsor Lane off East Street, where the two suspects removed two boxes from the truck. The two suspects on seeing the officers dropped the two boxes and fled on foot. The officers gave chase and caught the two suspects after a short foot chase. The officers conducted a search of the two boxes and found a total of 8 illegal handguns. The two suspects were taken into custody for questioning.

According to reports, shortly before 5:00pm, officers from the Southwestern Division acting on intelligence went to a bushy area near a park at Bell Dock Drive, Bel-Air Estates, where they found a 12 guage shotgun along with 19 rounds of ammunition underneath an abandoned vehicle. No one was arrested in connection with this discovery.

Two (2) Illegal Firearms Seized by Flying Squad. Three Men in Custody

POLICE are reporting the seizure of two firearms and several rounds of ammunition during separate incidents yesterday. In the first incident, shortly after 5:00pm, officers from the Flying Squad acting on intelligence executed a search warrant at a home located on Derby Road, Yellow Elder Gardens, where they uncovered a .40 pistol containing 8 rounds of ammunition. Three males ages 52, 49 and 27 were taken into custody in connection with this find. In the second incident, around 7:00pm, officers from the Flying Squad acting on intelligence went to an abandoned building located south on Market Street, where they uncovered a handgun along with 16 rounds of ammunition and a quantity of marijuana. No one was arrested in this incident.

Police Make Major Drug Bust in North Andros

Police are reporting a major drug bust in North Andros following a joint operation involving the Drug Enforcement Unit, the Police Marine Support Services and officers from the North Andros District early this morning. Preliminary reports are that around 3:00am, the joint operation team acting on intelligence conducted a major land and sea operation in North Andros that resulted in the discovery of a number of packages containing a large amount of marijuana on the rear of a truck at Mastic Point. Two men ages 51 and 45 from Mastic Point were taken into custody. Police are searching for several other men in connection with this seizure. More details relative to this seizure will be provided in a later press release.

Mobile Division Officers Make Firearm and Ammunition Arrest

POLICE are reporting the seizure of a firearm and several rounds of ammunition off Kemp Road on Saturday 6th June 2015. According to reports, around 10:00am, Mobile Division officers acting on intelligence went to Kingston Street off Kemp Road, where they saw a man, who arose their suspicion. The man on seeing the officers dropped a handgun and fled on foot. The officers gave chase and caught the suspect after a short foot chase. The officers retrieved the handgun and found it to be a Glock 26 Pistol with a magazine containing 4 rounds of ammunition. The suspect was subsequently taken into custody and is expected to appear in court early this week to be formally charged.

Police Seize Two Firearms. One Suspect in Custody

POLICE are reporting the seizure of two firearms out of the hands of criminals in separate incidents yesterday. In the first incident, around 1:00pm, officers from the Flying Squad were on patrol on Eneas Street off Poinciana Avenue, when they observed a man running from a house with a handgun in his hand. The officers gave chase but they were unable to catch the man who dropped the handgun while fleeing on foot. The officers retrieved the handgun and found it to be a pistol with 10 live rounds of ammunition. The officers conducted a search of the home occupied by the suspect and found a quantity of marijuana and several car parts belonging to a vehicle reported stolen. In the second incident, shortly after 9:00pm, a team of officers from the Mobile Division acting on intelligence conducted a search of a home located at Palmetto Avenue where they uncovered a .380 pistol with 6 live rounds of ammunition. A 24- year old male resident was taken into custody and is expected to appear in court early next week to be formally charged.

FTIU Officers Make Firearm Arrest

Officers from the Firearms Tracing and Investigations Unit seized one firearm and 6 rounds of ammunition on Dorsette Street off West Street early this morning. A 19- year old male is in custody. Reports are that shortly after 1:00 a.m., FTIU officers were on patrol in the area when the suspect was accosted, searched and one 9-millimetre pistol with a magazine containing six (6) 9-millimetre rounds was found on him. The suspect is expected to appear in court early this week to be formally charged. Police are urging members of the public take a stand against illegal firearms by cooperating with the police in providing information regarding the whereabouts of any illegal firearm.

Two Men in Custody for Firearm Possession

Two males ages 20 and 17 are in custody after they were arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm on Sunday 24th May 2015. According to reports, shortly after 12:00noon, officers from the Mobile Division acting on intelligence conducted a search of the two males on Gibbs Corner and found a handgun along with 14 live rounds of ammunition in their possession. The men were taken into custody for questioning.

Police Seize Three (3) Firearms. Two in Custody

POLICE has seized three firearms out of the hands of criminals in in three separate incidents over the past 24-hours. In the first incident, shortly before 11:00pm on Friday 22nd May 2015 a team of officers from the Flying Squad executed a search warrant on a home located at First Street and Coconut Grove Avenue, where they retrieved a 9mm pistol containing fifteen (15) live rounds of ammunition. A 39- year old male resident of the home was taken into custody for questioning reference to the discovery. In the second incident, around 3:00am on Saturday 23rd May 2015, a team of officers from the Firearms Tracing and Investigations Unit, acting on intelligence conducted a search of a Honda civic vehicle on Fire Trail Road and uncovered a .380 pistol. A 23- year old male of Evergreen Close was taken into custody for questioning. In the third incident, shortly after 4:00am on Saturday 23rd May 2015, Police in Exuma received a report of a disturbance at a nightclub located in Barratarre, Exuma. When police arrived on the scene they saw a man walking with a handgun in his hand. The officers attempted to arrest the suspect who resisted violently. A struggle ensued and the suspect dropped the firearm, but was able to escape from the officers. Police retrieved a .357 handgun the suspect threw to the ground. Police have launched an island-wide search for the suspect.

Police Recover High-Powered Weapon Following Shooting

Quick action by police has resulted in the arrest of two suspects who opened fired at them and the fatal shooting of another suspect who also opened fire on police; also in the recovery of an A-K 47 Assault Rifle and a Glock Pistol on Saturday 16th May 2015. According to reports, around 3:30am, this morning, police received a report of gunshots being heard in the Fort Fincastle and Mason's Addition area. A team of officers including officers from the police saturation patrols responded. Upon arrival in the area, four male suspects armed with firearms confronted the officers and opened fire on them. The officers returned fire striking one of the suspects fatally and recovered a Glock Pistol from him. Another suspect was arrested on the scene after the officers recovered an AK- 47 Assault Rifle that he dropped to the ground. The two other suspects fled on foot. Police gave chase and caught one of them. The other suspect is being sought. Investigations are ongoing.

Male Arrested With Handgun Following Shooting

According to reports, shortly after 7:00am on Tuesday 12th May 2015, a man was at a home located at Denver Street of Park Gate Road, when a man armed with a handgun shot him in the hip. The victim was transported to hospital, where he remains in stable condition. A short while later officers from the Northeastern Division arrested an 18- year old male suspect in the area, after they found a handgun containing 2 rounds of ammunition in his possession.

Stolen Vehicles Recovered, Shotgun Seized and 16 Arrested During Southwestern Division Operation

Consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Priorities for 2015, Southwestern Division officers conducted two operations in the division on Monday 11th May 2015 and Tuesday 12th May 2015 respectively, that targeted persons wanted for various criminal offences. The operation resulted in the arrest of 16 persons for armed robbery, housebreaking, possession of dangerous drugs and stolen vehicle. Additionally, the officers recovered two stolen vehicles and seized a shotgun.

A 34 year old male American visitor is in police custody after he was found in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition. Reports are that on Monday 11th May 2015 shortly after 9:00am, Officers of the Bimini Division while at the South Bimini International Airport, conducted a search of the American visitor and discovered in a camouflage bag, a handgun with 17 live rounds of ammunition. He was arrested and taken into police custody. Investigation is continuing in this matter.

According to reports, around 1:00am on Saturday 9th May 2015, officers from the Flying Squad acting on intelligence went to Old Cedar Street, Yellow Elder Gardens, where they observed two males armed with a long gun. The men on seeing the officers fled on foot. The officers gave chase but were unable to catch the two men. The officers conducted a search of the area where the men ran from and found 100 shotgun shells.

Mobile Division Arrest Man for Firearm Possession

A 30- year old man is in custody after he was arrested for possession of a firearm following a shooting incident that has left a man detained in hospital on Thursday 7th May 2015. According to reports, shortly after 10:00pm, a man was standing on Tyler Street when the occupants of a white van shot him in the hip and sped off. The man was transported to hospital where he remains in stable condition. A short while later officers from the Mobile Division on patrol in the area of the sports center spotted the white van. The occupants of the van on seeing the police abandoned the van and fled on foot. The officers gave chase and were able to arrest one of the men and recovered a handgun

Police are reporting the seizure of a high-powered weapon, the recovery of a stolen motorbike and the arrest of 11 persons for various criminal offences during an operation conducted by officers from the Southwestern Division on Thursday 23rd April 2015. During the operation officers acting on intelligence went to Bel-Air Estates, where they observed a group of males acting suspiciously. The males on seeing the officers fled on foot. The officers gave chase, but were unable to catch the men. The officers conducted a search of the area where the men ran from and found a high-powered assault weapon containing 4 rounds of ammunition. Abaco Police Make Firearm Arrest

Police in Abaco have in their custody a 17 year old male resident of the Mudd, Abaco, who was arrested for possession of a firearm with the intent to endanger life. Reports are that on Thursday 23rd April 2015, shortly after 2:00pm, Officers of the Marsh Harbour Police Station were in the area of the Mudd where the suspect reportedly discharge a firearm at them. Officers later arrested the 17 year old male in the Mudd and retrieved a 9mm spent cartridge from the scene. He is expected to be charge for this mater. Investigation are continuing.

In the first incident, shortly after 3:30pm on Wednesday 15th April 2015, officers from the Firearms Tracing and Investigation Unit were on patrol on Market Street north, when they observed a man acting suspiciously. The man on seeing the officers dropped a bag and fled on foot. The officers gave chase but were unable to catch the man. The officers recovered the bag and found it to contain 61 rounds of ammunition. In the second incident, shortly after 5:00pm on Wednesday 15th April 2015, officers from the Southwestern Division, acting on intelligence went to a dirt road off Cowpen Road, where they uncovered a shotgun. In the third incident, shortly before 7:00pm on Thursday 16th April 2015, officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit, acting on intelligence went to an abandoned building located on Old Trail Road, where they uncovered an assault rifle containing 8 rounds of ammunition and a handgun containing 4 rounds of ammunition in a crocus bag.

Two (2) More Firearms Seized by Police

In the first incident, around 12:00noon on Tuesday 14th April 2015, Drug Enforcement Unit Officers were on patrol on Soldier Road, when they observed two men acting suspiciously. The two men on seeing the officers dropped an object to the ground and fled on foot. The officers gave chase, but were unable to catch the men. The officers recovered the object and found it to be a handgun with 12 rounds of ammunition.

In the second incident, shortly after 1:00am on Wednesday 15th April 2015, officers from the Firearms Tracing and Investigations Unit, acting on intelligence went to Christie Park located on Nassau Street, where they uncovered a shotgun underneath a block of concrete. No one was arrested in these two incidents.

Police Seize Three Firearms in Separate Incidents

POLICE are pleased to report the seizure of three more illegal firearms off the streets of New Providence in separate incidents. In the first incident, around 9:00am on Friday 10th April 2015, officers from the Southeastern Division acting on intelligence went an open lot located at Resurrection Drive, where they uncovered a handgun along with 4 rounds of ammunition. In the second incident, shortly after 12:30am on Sunday 12th April 2015, police officers from the Mobile Division responded to a report of gunshots being fired at Sutton Street off Kemp Road. On arrival in the area, the officers saw two suspects who fled on foot. The officers gave chase but were unable to catch the two suspects. The officers made a check of the area and found a high-powered assault weapon containing 3 rounds of ammunition. In the third incident, shortly before 4:00am on Sunday 12th April 2015, police officers were at a business establishment located off Tonique Darling Highway when a fight broke out between three men. The officers intervened and on searching one of the men found a handgun along with 8 rounds of ammunition in his waist. The three men were taken into custody for questioning. The Police are once again urging the public to contact them, if they have any information about persons who are in possession of illegal weapons and other illegal items

On Saturday 11th April 2015 shortly before 6:00am, Officers of the Drug Enforcement Unit acting on information, went to an abandoned apartment complex in the Coral Gardens area where they discovered a 9mm pistol. Two (2) Firearms Seized and Two (2) Murder Suspects Arrested by Flying Squad

POLICE continue to rid the nation's streets of illegal weapons with their latest seizure of two firearms and 26 rounds of ammunition during a major operation conducted by the Flying Squad last night.

The operation which is consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Priorities for 2015, targeted problem locations and persons engaged in criminal activities such as, murder, armed robbery, rape, shootings, stolen vehicle, firearms and drugs.

During the operation a number of significant arrests were made: Murder Arrests Shortly 9:00pm, the operation team arrested a 24- year old man at Robinson Road for a recent murder Shortly before 10:00pm, the operation team arrested a 23- year old man at Dumping Ground Corner for a recent murder.

Firearm Arrests
Shortly after 12:00midnight, the operation team arrested a 31- year old man of Derby Road, Yellow Elder Gardens after they found a handgun along with 15 rounds of ammunition in his possession.

Around 2:30am, the operation team acting on intelligence executed a search warrant at a home located on Augusta Street, where they arrested 11 adult males after they found a handgun and 11 rounds of ammunition. Additionally, 4 other persons were arrested for drugs and firearms related offences.

The Police are once again urging the public to contact them, if they have any information about persons who are in possession of illegal weapons and other illegal items

According to reports shortly after 7:00pm, on Friday 3rd April 2015 officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit acting on intelligence went to 'Go Slow Bend', West Bay Street, where they conducted search of a silver Nissan Skyline vehicle and found a handgun along with 7 rounds of ammunition. Two adult males and two adult females were taken into custody for questioning reference to this discovery.

DEU Officers Make Huge Drug Bust in Bimini

An intelligence led operation by Drug Enforcement Unit Officers has dealt a major blow to drug traffickers in the country, after a 52- year old American man and a 36- year old Bahamian man were arrested for possession of a huge quantity of marijuana in Bimini on Monday 30th March 2015. According to reports, around 10:00am, a team of officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit with the assistance of their counterparts from the US Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and officers from Bimini Division went to South Bimini, where they executed a search warrant on a 38- foot US registered sailboat owned by the American suspect. During the search the officers uncovered a number of packages of marijuana totaling 436 pounds with and estimated street value of $436,000.00. The two suspects were subsequently arrested in connection with this discovery and transported along with the drugs to New Providence.

Two (2) Firearms Seized During Police Anti-Crime Operation

POLICE are reporting the seizure of two more illegal firearms and the arrest of 7 persons for a number of offences including, possession of dangerous drugs, causing grievous harm and outstanding criminal warrants as they intensified their Island-wide anti-crime operation in New last evening. The operation which is consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Priorities for 2015, is part of the Force's strategy to cut down on criminal activity by targeting problem locations and persons engaged in criminal activities such as, murder, armed robbery, rape, shootings, stolen vehicle, firearms and drugs. During last night's operation two firearms were uncovered: The first discovery occurred shortly before 9:00pm, when officers from the operation team conducted a search in bushes at Montrose Avenue, where they found a handgun with 4 rounds of ammunition. The second discovery occurred around 12:30am, when officers from the operation team conducted search of a nightclub located on Gibbs Corner, where they found a handgun with 4 rounds of ammunition in a rest room.

Police Anti-Crime Operation Seize Two (2) Firearms

POLICE are reporting the seizure of two illegal firearms and the arrest of 12 persons for a number of offences including, armed robbery, possession of dangerous drugs and firearms as they intensified their Island-wide anti-crime operation in New last evening.

The operation which is consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Priorities for 2015, is part of the force’s strategy to cut down on criminal activity by targeting problem locations and persons engaged in criminal activities such as, murder, armed robbery, rape, shootings, stolen vehicle, firearms and drugs. During last night’s operation two significant firearm arrests were made:

The first arrest occurred shortly before 9:00pm, when officers from the operation team executed search warrant a home located at Wilson Tract, where they found an unlicensed shotgun. An adult male was taken into custody for questioning.

The second arrest occurred around 10:00pm, when officers from the operation team executed search warrant a home located at Bacardi Road, where they found an illegal handgun. An adult male along with five (5) adult females were taken into custody for questioning.

According to reports, around 10:00pm on Thursday 19th March 2015, officers from the Southern Division acting on intelligence went to a shed located on Butlers Way off Montgomery Avenue, where they uncovered a shotgun. No one was arrested for this discovery.

Suspect Nabbed by Police with Handgun Shortly After Double-Shooting

POLICE are requesting the public's assistance in locating the suspects in a double shooting that has left one man dead and another detained in hospital on Wednesday 18th March 2015. Preliminary reports are, that shortly after 8:30pm, two men were sitting down in front of a residence located at West Avenue off Carmichael Road, when a man armed with handgun fired several shots at them. One of the men succumbed to his injuries at the scene and the other was transported to hospital where he remains in stable condition. A short while later, police officers responding to the scene saw a suspicious Honda vehicle speeding away from the area of the incident, resulting high-speed chase throughout the southern district. The chase came to an end when the suspects crashed into a vehicle on Tonique Darling Highway and fled on foot. Police gave chase and arrested one of the suspects. Police also recovered a firearm. Investigations are ongoing.

POLICE took a 23- year old man of Pinewood Gardens into custody after they seized an illegal firearm on Thursday 19th March 2015. POLICE are reporting the arrest of 26 persons in separate operations conducted by officers from the Southeastern and Southwestern Divisions on Monday 16th March 2015. During the operation conducted by Southeastern Division officers, 6 persons were arrested for various offences such as housebreaking and stealing, dangerous drugs, threats of death and outstanding court warrants. During the operation conducted by Southwestern Division officers a sawed off shotgun was recovered and 15 persons were arrested for various offences such as, house breaking and stealing, dangerous drugs, stealing and breach of the Immigration Act.

Police Anti-Crime Operation Seize Firearm

POLICE are reporting more success under their anti-crime operation- aimed at arresting persons involved in criminal activities and crime prevention. During last night's operation police recovered a handgun and 12 live rounds of ammunition when they conducted a search of an adult male at Douglas Street, Gambier. The adult male was subsequently taken into custody in connection with this discovery. Additionally, 6 other persons were arrested for a number of criminal offences to include, assault with a deadly weapon, questioning reference to firearms and breach of the Immigration Act. Suspect Nabbed with Handgun Shortly After Armed Robbery

Quick action by police has led to the arrest of a 28- year old man shortly after he committed an armed robbery on Thursday 12th March 2015. Reports are, that shortly before 9:00am, a man was driving his public service bus on Sea Link Drive, South Beach, when a male passenger on the bus robbed him and five passengers of cash, jewelry and a cell phone before fleeing on foot. The matter was immediately reported to police who initiated a search for the suspect. A short while later, officers from the Southwestern Division acting on information received from alert residents went into the Hollywood Subdivision area when they arrested the suspect. The officers conducted a search of the suspect and uncovered a handgun along with 5 rounds of ammunition. The officers also recovered the cash, jewelry and cell phone taken during the armed robbery. Police wish to thank the alert residents for their support that resulted in the arrest of the suspect.

Three adult males and three adult females are in custody following a raid on a home by Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) Officers on Tuesday 10th March 2015. According to reports, shortly before 10:00pm, a team of officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit acting on intelligence executed a search warrant at a home located at Cock Burn Close, where they found a handgun along with 15 rounds of ammunition. The six suspects were then taken into custody for questioning reference to the discovery.

OFFICERS are reporting the seizure of two handguns and the arrest of 43 persons following an operation conducted on Saturday 7th March 2015. Shortly after 1:00am, a team of officers from the Central Detective Unit acting on intelligence executed a search warrant on a nightclub located on Wulff Road off Union Village, where they uncovered two illegal handguns. A total of 39 adult males and 4 adult females were arrested and taken into custody for questioning reference to this discovery. 15 Year Old Male Arrested for Firearm and Ammunition

POLICE are reporting the arrest of a 15- year old male for possession of a handgun and ammunition on Friday 6th March 2015. Reports are that shortly after 11:00am, Police were on patrol in the area of the Baillou Hills Sporting Complex, where they saw the suspect acting suspiciously. Police conducted a search of the suspect and found a handgun along with 7 rounds of ammunition in his possession. The suspect was taken into custody and is expected to appear in court early next week to be formally charged.

Major CDU Operation Nets 3 Firearms and Murder Suspect

Consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Priorities for 2015, a team of officers from the Central Detective Unit conducted an operation overnight that resulted in the seizure of three firearms and the arrest of a murder suspect. Shortly after 12:00am this morning the operation team descended on a bar located at Augusta Street, where they arrested a 29- year old male who is wanted for a murder that occurred at Augusta Street on Tuesday 24th February 2015. The officers also found a loaded handgun in the suspect's waist containing 16 live rounds of ammunition and 3 ounces of marijuana in his pants pocket. During a search of the bar the officers found two additional handguns along with 24 live rounds of ammunition. The operation was under the command of Chief Superintendent Paul Rolle.

POLICE are pleased to report the seizure of another firearm off the streets of New Providence on Friday 27th February 2015. According to reports, shortly after 3:00am, officers from the Mobile Division were on patrol on Deveaux Street off East Bay Street when they brought a suspicious Honda Civic vehicle with four men to a stop. The officers conducted a search of the vehicle and found a .22 rifle with 17 rounds of ammunition. The four suspects were taken into custody for questioning.

POLICE in the Southwestern Division are reporting a significant arrest of a wanted man after he was found in possession of a loaded handgun and ammunition earlier today, during a major operation under the leadership of Superintendent Matthew Edgecombe. SOUTHWESTERN DIVISION OFFICERS ALSO DISCOVERED THAT THE SUSPECT IS WANTED REFERENCE TO ATTEMPTED MURDER AND A NUMBER OF OUTSTANDING CRIMINAL WARRANTS. Additionally, 8 other persons were arrested for a number of offences to include, housebreaking, stealing and outstanding court warrants.

Eastern Division Police Seize Firearm

According to reports, around 3:00pm on Wednesday 25th February 2015, officers from the Eastern Division were on patrol on Dorsett Street, Fox Hill, when they observed three men standing in the street acting suspiciously. The men on seeing the officers threw and object to the ground and fled on foot. The officers gave chase but were unable to catch the men. The officers retrieved the object from the ground and found it to be a handgun. The men are being sought by the police.

POLICE are reporting the seizure of two illegal firearms, quantities of dangerous drugs and the arrest of 29 persons for a number of offences including, armed robbery, stolen vehicle and possession of dangerous drugs as they intensified their Island-wide anti-crime operation in New last evening.

The operation which is consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Priorities for 2015, is part of the Force's strategy to cut down on criminal activity by targeting problem locations and persons engaged in criminal activities such as, murder, armed robbery, rape, shootings, stolen vehicle, firearms and drugs. During last night’s operation, which was under the command of Chief Superintendent Theophilus Cunningham, two significant firearm arrests were made:

The first arrest occurred around 9:00pm on Saturday 6th December 2014, when officers from the operation team arrested an adult male in Fox Hill, after finding a handgun along with 11 rounds of ammunition in his possession.

The second arrest occurred shortly before 2:00am, on Sunday 22nd February 2015, when team of police officers acting in intelligence went to Arawak Cay, where they observed a 25- year old male at a nightclub acting suspiciously. The officers approached the suspect who attempted to pull a handgun from his waist. The officers in fear of their life shot the suspect to his left side. The officers recovered a handgun along with 6 live rounds of ammunition from the suspect. The officers also recovered 16 small packages of marijuana from the suspect.

POLICE ALSO DISCOVERED THAT THE SUSPECT IS ON BAIL FOR AN INDICTABLE OFFENCE AND IS ALSO WEARING A COURT ISSUED ELECTRONIC MONITORING DEVICE.

The suspect was transported to hospital where he is detained under heavy police guard.

POLICE are pleased to report the seizure of another illegal handgun off the streets of New Providence on Friday 20th February 2015. According to reports, shortly after 10:00pm, officers from the Southwestern Division were on patrol on Mermaid Boulevard East when they brought a suspicious vehicle with three men to a stop. The officers conducted a search of the vehicle and found a 9mm pistol with 11 rounds of ammunition. The three suspects were taken into custody for questioning.

Quick response by officers from the Mobile Division is being credited for the arrest of a 29- year man who had an illegal handgun in his possession on Tuesday 10th February 2015. According to reports, shortly after 10:30pm, police received a report that a man was discharging a handgun in the Soldier Road area. Officers from the Mobile Division responded and upon arrival in the area they arrested the suspect after they found a handgun along with one live round of ammunition in his possession. The suspect was taken into custody and is expected to appear in court later this week to be formally charged.

A 31- year old man is in custody after he was arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm and dangerous drugs on Monday 9th February 2015. According to reports around 9:00pm, officers from the Flying Squad acting on intelligence executed a search warrant at the home of the suspect located at Inez Close, Blueberry Hill, where they uncovered a handgun along with five live rounds of ammunition and 5 pounds of marijuana. In the first incident, shortly around 8:30am, police received a report of gunshots being fired in the area of Okra Hill. A short while later officers from the Mobile Division arrived at the scene, where the saw a male discharging shots from a handgun. The male on seeing the police threw the handgun to the ground and fled on foot. The officers gave chase and arrested the male who is a 17 year old of Okra Hill. The handgun containing 3 live rounds of ammunition was recovered. In the second incident, shortly after 9:00pm, police officers were at a nightclub located at Tonique Darling Highway, when they observed a man acting suspiciously. The man on seeing the officers ran outside of the nightclub, where he threw a handgun to the ground and fled on foot. The officers gave chase but were unable to catch the male. The handgun containing 9 live rounds of ammunition was recovered.

LPIA Police Make $10 K Drug Bust

POLICE foiled an attempt to smuggle in drugs into the country with the seizure of $10,000 dollars worth of drugs at LPIA on Thursday 5th February 2015. According to reports, shortly before 4:00pm, officers from the Royal Bahamas Police Force K-9 Unit were on duty at The Lynden Pindling International Airport (LPIA), when they intercepted a suspicious luggage that came in onboard a Caribbean airline flight from Jamaica. A search was conducted of the luggage and 10 pounds of marijuana was uncovered. No one was arrested in connection with this seizure. Investigations are ongoing

Southwestern Division Recover Firearm. 14 Arrested

Consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Priorities for 2015, Southwestern Division officers conducted an operation in the division on Friday 23rd January 2015 that targeted persons wanted for various criminal offences. The operation resulted in the arrest of 14 persons for dangerous drugs, housebreaking and outstanding criminal warrants. Additionally, during the operation officers from the Eastern Division acting on intelligence went to Montgomery Avenue off Carmichael Road where they uncovered an unlicensed shotgun. The operation was under the command of Superintendent Matthew Edgecombe.

Eastern Division Recover Firearm

According to reports, around 1:30pm on Friday 23rd January 2015, officers from the Eastern Division acting on intelligence went to Yamacraw Hill Road where they uncovered a handgun along with 6 rounds of ammunition. No arrests were made in relation to this discovery.

Mobile Division Make Firearm Arrest

Police continue to rid the nation's streets of illegal weapons with their latest seizure of two firearms and several rounds of ammunition, in separate incidents on Thursday 22nd January 2015. In the first incident, shortly after 9:00am, officers from the Mobile Division were on patrol when they signaled to a man and a woman in a car to stop along Charles Vincent Street. The vehicle was searched and an unlicensed shotgun was seized. A 26- year old man and a 34- year old woman were taken into custody for questioning. In the second incident, shortly before 9:00pm, officers from the Mobile Division were on patrol when they signaled to a male driver in a Chevy truck to stop on Montrose Avenue. The man refused to stop and sped off. A chase ensued that ended on Wulff Road, where the male exited the vehicle and threw an object to the ground before fleeing on foot. The officers gave chase and caught the male after a short foot chase. The object was recovered and found to be handgun along with 10 rounds of ammunition. A 19- year old male were taken into custody for questioning.

Police Recover Two (2) Firearms

Consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Priorities for 2015, police recovered two firearms off the streets of New Providence in separate police operations. The first recovery occurred shortly after 1:00pm on Wednesday 21st January 2015, when a police operation team from the Southwestern Division acting on intelligence went to Turtle Drive, where they uncovered a handgun. The second recovery occurred shortly before 10:00am on Thursday 22nd January 2015, when a police operation team from the Southeastern Division acting on intelligence conducted a search of an abandoned building at Jumbey Street, Pinewood Gardens, where they uncovered a handgun.

Police Seize Firearm and Drugs

A 31 - year old man is in custody following the seizure of an illegal handgun and a quantity of dangerous drugs on Monday 19th January 2015. Reports are, that shortly after 4:30pm, Mobile Division officers acting on intelligence boarded a public service bus in the vicinity of Wulff Road and Mackey Street, where they conducted a search of the suspect and found a handgun along with a quantity of marijuana in his possession. The suspect was taken into custody as is expected to appear in court later this week to be formally charged.

Police Seize Four Firearms, 1 Man Arrested

POLICE continue to rid the nation’s streets of illegal weapons with their latest seizure of four firearms, in separate incidents on Saturday 17th January 2015. In the first incident, shortly before 5:00pm officers from the Firearm Tracing and Investigations Unit, acting on intelligence went to Brougham Street, where they seized a handgun along with 2 live rounds of ammunition. No one was taken into custody in relation to this seizure. In the second incident, shortly after 8:00pm, a team of officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit acting on Intelligence executed a search warrant at a home located at Sumner Street, where they uncovered three handguns and 3 rounds of ammunition. Additionally, the officers uncovered a quantity of marijuana and cocaine. A 36- year old male was taken into custody in connection with this seizure.

Police Anti-Crime Operation Seize Two (2) Firearms

POLICE are reporting more success under their anti-crime operation, aimed at arresting persons involved in criminal activities and crime prevention. During last night’s operation police recovered two more firearms of the streets of New Providence and arrested 23 persons reference to a number of criminal offences to include, firearm possession, possession of dangerous drugs with intent to supply, armed robbery, housebreaking and shop breaking; also a quantity of dangerous drugs was seized. The first firearm seizure occurred shortly after 8:00pm, when officers from the operation team acting on intelligence went to a location at the Charles Saunders Highway, where they uncovered a handgun along with 7 live rounds of ammunition. No one was taken into custody in relation to this seizure. The second seizure occurred shortly after 11:00pm, when officers from the operation team acting on intelligence executed a search warrant at a home located at Woods Alley, where they found a handgun and 18 live rounds of ammunition along with 30 small foil packages of marijuana. Three adult males and two adult females were taken into custody in relation to this seizure. The operation, which is consistent with the Commissioner's 2015 Policing Priorities, was under the command of Chief Superintendent Theophilus Cunningham. The Police are once again urging the public to contact them, if they have any information about persons who are in possession of illegal weapons and other illegal items.

Police Seize Four Firearms, 32 Arrested

POLICE are reporting the seizure of four more firearms and the arrest of 32 persons for questioning reference to a number serious offences including firearms, drugs, armed robbery and housebreaking during an overnight anti-crime operation. In the first incident, the operation team members acting on intelligence went to a home located at Soldier Road, where they arrested an adult male after finding an unlicensed rifle in his possession. In the second incident, the operation team members acting on intelligence went to a home located at Peter Street, where they arrested 6 adult males and 2 adult females after finding a handgun along with 13 rounds of ammunition in their possession. In the third incident, the operation team members acting on intelligence went to a bushy area located at Montel Heights, where they uncovered two handguns along with 6 live rounds of ammunition. The operation was under the command of Chief Superintendents Clayton Fernander and Theopilus Cunningham

Firearms and Drug Seized During Southwestern Division Home Raid

Two females ages 34 and 24 along with a 26- year old male are in custody following a firearms and drugs seizure on Friday 16th January 2015. According to reports, shortly after 11:00am, a team of officers from the Southwestern Division under the command of Superintendent Matthew Edgecombe, acting on intelligence executed a search warrant at a home located at Fire Trail Road, where they uncovered 2 handguns, 24 rounds of ammunition and just over nine pounds of suspected marijuana. The three suspects were taken into custody for questioning reference to this discovery.

DEU Make $123K Drug Bust and Arrest

Four (4) Bahamian Males ages 58, 22, 22, and 19 are in custody following a large drug bust on Friday 16th January 2014. 1 According to reports, around 2:30am, officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit acting on intelligence executed a search warrant at a home located at Jubilee Gardens where they found four crocus bags containing 123 pounds Marijuana. The marijuana has an estimated street value of $123,000 dollars. The four suspects were taken into custody as is expected to appear in court at a later date to be formally charged.

Four Firearms Seized During Anti-Crime Operation

POLICE are reporting the significant seizure of 4 more firearms of the streets of New Providence and the arrest of 19 persons for various offences such possession of dangerous drugs, housebreaking and armed robbery as their anti-crime operation intensified last night in New Providence. The operation which is consistent with the Commissioner's 2015 Policing Priorities targeted persons involved in criminal activities, such as drugs and firearms, persons wanted for various criminal offences, prolific offenders and persons wanted for outstanding court warrants. Shortly before 7:00pm the operation team acting on intelligence executed a search warrant at a home located at Melvern Road, Yellow Elder Gardens, where they uncovered a handgun along with 4 live rounds of ammunition. Two males ages 50 and 35 along with two females ages 54 and 23 were taken into custody for questioning. An hour later, officers from the operation team acting on intelligence conducted a search of an abandoned building located at West End Avenue, where they uncovered two handguns, a shotgun and 36 live rounds of ammunition. The operation was under the command of Chief Superintendents Clayton Fernander and Theophilus Cunningham.

Police Operations Team Seize Firearm

According to reports, shortly before 11:00am on Tuesday 13th January 2015, officers assigned to a special police operations team acting on intelligence went to Churchill Avenue, Chippingham, where they arrested a 22- year old male who was wanted in connection with an attempted murder. Police also recovered a shotgun the suspect had in his possession. The operation team was under the command of Chief Superintendent Ashton Greenslade

Two Arrested and Firearm Seized Following High Speed Chase

According to reports, shortly after 6:00pm on Tuesday 13th January 2015, Mobile Division Officers were on patrol at Montrose Avenue and Wulff Road, when they attempted to stop a Honda Accord vehicle with two suspicious males. The vehicle refused to stop and a chase ensued throughout several areas of New Providence. The officers brought the vehicle to a stop at Sears Road, where they arrested two males ages 27 and 26. A short while later police recovered a handgun believed to have been thrown from the suspect's vehicle. Investigations are ongoing.

On Monday 12, January 2015, police officers in Grand Bahama acting on information, went to a track road in the area of Wild Cat Avenue where they discovered a handgun along with three rounds of ammunition. No one was arrested. Police investigation continues.

Police Seize Two (2) Firearms. One Man Arrested

POLICE are reporting the discovery of two more illegal firearms off the streets of New Providence during two separate incidents. In the first incident, shortly after 1:00pm on Wednesday 7th January 2015 officers from the Firearm Tracing and Investigations Unit were conducting investigations into a shooting incident that occurred at Yellow Elder Gardens earlier that same day, when they uncovered a shotgun along with 8 rounds of ammunition. Police has since issued a wanted person bulletin for 29- year old Mckyle Wallace of Major Road, Yellow Elder Gardens, for question reference to the shooting and firearm discovery. In the second incident, shortly before 5:00pm on Thursday 8th January 2015, officers from the Central Detective Unit acting on intelligence went to Lowes Alley off Mackey Street, where they uncovered a handgun along with 2 rounds of ammunition. Two adult males were taken into custody for questioning reference to this discovery and an ongoing murder investigation.

Police Seize 1 Handgun, 4 Stolen Vehicles and Large Amount of Drugs as Anti-Crime Operation Intensifies

POLICE are reporting the seizure of 1 firearm, 4 suspected stolen vehicles, a large amount of drugs and the arrest of 30 persons for various criminal offences as their anti-crime operation intensified last night. The operation which is consistent with the Commissioner's 2015 Policing Priorities, targeted persons involved in criminal activities, such as drugs and firearms, persons wanted for various criminal offences, prolific offenders, persons wanted for outstanding court warrants and motorists operating in Breach of the Traffic Laws. During the operation police executed a search at a home located at Avocado Street, Pinewood Gardens, where they found just over 16 pounds of marijuana and four Honda vehicles suspected of being stolen. Six adult males were taken into custody in connection with this discovery. The operation team acting on intelligence also went to Amos Ferguson Street, where they also uncovered a handgun. Twenty-four (24) other persons were also arrested for various offences to include, murder, armed robbery, house breaking and stealing. Last night’s operation was under the command of Chief Superintendents Clayton Fernander and Theophilous Cunningham.

POLICE continue to rid the nation's streets of illegal weapons with the latest seizure of a firearm on Tuesday 6th January 2015. According to reports, around 11:00pm, officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit acting on intelligence conducted a search of an abandoned building located on Gilda Street, Kennedy Sub-Division, where they uncovered a handgun along with 36 small packages of marijuana. No one was arrested for this discovery. Investigations are ongoing.

Police Seize Two (2) Firearms. One Man Arrested

POLICE are reporting the discovery of two more illegal firearms off the streets of New Providence and the arrest of one man in two separate incidents on Monday 5th January 2015. In the first incident, shortly after 8:00pm, officers from the Mobile Division were on patrol on Hospital Lane, when they saw a man acting suspiciously. The man on seeing the police dropped an object to the ground and fled on foot. The police gave chase but was unable to catch the man. The officers recovered the object and found it to be a handgun along with 10 live rounds of ammunition. In the second incident, shortly before 10:00pm, officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit were on patrol on Trinidad Avenue, Elizabeth Estates, when they arrested a 23- year old male after they found a handgun along with 5 rounds of ammunition in his possession. Investigations are ongoing

According to reports, shortly after 7:00pm on Sunday 4th January 2015, police acting on intelligence went to Peardale, where they arrested a 27- year old man after they found 13 rounds of ammunition in his possession.

GB Police Make Firearm Arrest

According to reports, shortly after 9:00pm on Sunday 4th January 2015 officers from the Mobile Division in Grand Bahama were on mobile patrol in the area of Weddell Avenue and Frobisher Drive, when they made a stop of a grey 2001 Nissan Skyline vehicle driven by a 25- year old male, that was speeding in the area. The officers conducted a search of the vehicle and found a handgun along with one round of ammunition. The suspect was taken into custody and is expected to appear in court early this week to be formally charged.

According to reports, shortly after 1:30pm on Sunday 4th January 2015, officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit acting on intelligence went to a track road at Market Street near Robinson Road, where they conducted a search of a bushy area and uncovered three illegal handguns along with 25 live rounds of ammunition. No arrests were made in connection with this discovery. Investigations are ongoing.

Police Recover Handgun Following Night Club Shooting

POLICE are seeking the public's help in solving a shooting incident at a nightclub that has left one man dead and another detained in hospital on Sunday 4th January 2015. According to reports, shortly after 3:00am a man was at a local nightclub located on Madeira Street, when he got into an argument with another male. The man left the club and returned about a half hour later along with the deceased on a motorbike. The deceased allegedly produced a handgun and discharged shots at the male who was involved in the argument earlier. This male returned fire hitting the deceased to the head, stomach and chest. The man who returned with the deceased on the motorbike was shot in the leg. The deceased was pronounced dead at the scene and the man shot in the leg was taken to hospital, where he remains in stable condition. After the shooting the suspect along with a second male got into a dark green Honda CRV vehicle occupied four females and demanded the women to drive off. The female driver sped off as instructed and she collided with another Honda vehicle at 5th Terrace and Collins Avenue. The two males then exited the vehicle and fled into the McCullough Corner area. Police took the manager of the nightclub into custody for operating in breach of the business license Act. Police while conducting investigations at the scene later this morning uncovered a handgun at the rear of the nightclub. Investigations are ongoing.

Police Recover Firearm After Armed Robbery

POLICE are searching for two men wanted for an armed robbery that occurred on Saturday 3rd January 2015. According to reports, shortly after 8:00pm, a man and a woman was at Wellington Road and Christie Avenue, when two men armed with handguns robbed them of their 2014 black Kia Sportage jeep and sped off. A short while later, Mobile Division officers were on patrol on Carmichael Road, when they spotted the stolen vehicle. The officers attempted to stop the vehicle but the suspects sped off resulting in a high-speed chase. The chase ended at Edgar Close off Gladstone Road where the two suspects exited the stolen vehicle and fired several shots at police. Police returned fire, however the two suspects managed to escape on foot. Police recovered a handgun containing a quantity of ammunition from the scene. Investigations are ongoing.

POLICE are reporting the seizure of a high-powered weapon and ammunition in the Yellow Elder area on Saturday 3rd January 2015. Reports are, around 3:00pm, officers assigned to the Firearms Tracing and Investigations Unit acting on intelligence went to an area in Yellow Elder referred too as 'the gul'’ where they found the weapon and ammunition. No arrests were made in relation to the gun find.

Firearm Seized during Anti-Crime Operation

POLICE are reporting the seizure of one illegal firearm, the arrest of 7 Jamaican females and 17 other persons for various criminal offences as their major anti-crime operation continued last night. During last night's operation police while in the area of Smiths Lane off Andros Avenue arrested a 23- year old male after they found a handgun along with a quantity of ammunition in his possession. Also during last night's operation police acting on intelligence descended on a nightclub located in Montel Heights, where they met 7 women from Jamaica, whom they suspected to be at that location for the purpose of solicitation for prostitution. The women were taken into custody for Breach of the Immigration Act. The club owner was also arrested for breach of the Business License Act. Other arrests during last night's operation include: 7- Persons for Outstanding Criminal Warrants, 5- Breach of the Liquor License Act, 2- Persons for stealing. The police operation, which is consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Priorities, was under the command of Chief Superintendents Clayton Fernander and Theopilus Cunningham.

Mobile Division Make Firearm Arrest

A 35- year old man is in custody after he was arrested for possession of a firearm and suspected stolen copper wire on Saturday 3rd January 2015. According to reports, shortly after 5:00am, Mobile Division officers were on patrol, when they observed two males driving a Nissan Sunny vehicle loaded with a large amount of copper wire suspected of being stolen. The officers brought the vehicle to a stop and the passenger fled on foot. The officers took the driver into custody and later conducted a search of his residence, where they uncovered a sawed off shotgun along with a quantity of ammunition.

Police Seize Two (2) Firearms

POLICE are reporting the arrest of three males in connection with the seizure of two firearms in separate incidents across the island during a New Years morning operation.

In the first incident, shortly after 2:30am, the operation team members were on Robinson Road, when they observed a group of males acting suspiciously in front of a restaurant. As the officers approached the group, one of the males walked off. The officers conducted a search of this male and found a handgun along with a quantity of ammunition in his possession. The 19- year old suspect was then taken into custody for questioning.

In the second incident, shortly after 8:00am, the operation team members were on Wulff Road and Verbana Street, when they observed a Honda vehicle with two suspicious males inside. The officers then brought the vehicle to a stop. One of the males then exited the vehicle and threw a handgun inside. The officers retrieved the handgun containing ammunition and took into custody the two males ages 18 and 26 for questioning. This operation was under the command of the Acting Deputy Commissioner Anthony Ferguson.
