Armed Robbery Suspects Shot by Police. Firearm Recovered

Two adult male arm robbery suspects who engaged the police on Wednesday 31st December 2014 are detained in hospital under heavy police guard. According to reports, shortly after 1:00am, a man drove his vehicle to a tire shop located on Minnie Street to repair four of his tires, when two men armed with a handgun attempted to rob him. The victim fled on foot and was pursued by the two men who fired several shots at him. Police officers who were on patrol in the area, confronted the suspects who fired several shots at them. The police returned fire hitting two of the suspects and recovered a handgun from them. The two suspects were transported to hospital where they remain in stable condition under heavy police guard. Police later arrested another adult male in connection with this incident. Investigations are ongoing.

According to reports, around 5:30pm on Tuesday 30th December 2014, officers from the Mobile Division acting on intelligence went to an open lot located at Eneas Street, where they uncovered a shotgun. No one was arrested for this discovery.

Police Seize Firearm and Ammo. 2 In Custody.

A 63- year old woman and a 21- year old man is in custody following the seizure of a firearm and a quantity of ammunition on Monday 29th December 2014. According to reports, shortly before 6:00pm, Police acting on intelligence went to Ridgeland Park where they arrested the male suspect after they found a quantity of ammunition in his possession. Police then conducted a search of the male's Ridgeland Park residence and uncovered a rifle along with a quantity of ammunition. Police then took the female suspect who resides at the home into custody. Investigations are ongoing.

Police Seize Firearm During Anti-Crime Operation

POLICE are reporting the seizure of a handgun and the arrest of 4 persons for Possession of dangerous drugs as their anti-crime operation that targets persons involved in criminal activities continued last night. Shortly after 9:00pm last night, officers from the operation team were on 3rd Street, Coconut Grove, when they observed a man on foot acting suspiciously. The man on seeing the officers threw an object to the ground and fled on foot. The officers gave chase but were unable to catch the man. The officers retrieved the object and found it to be a handgun along with a quantity of ammunition. During last night's operation police also visited a number of small and large business places as part of the Force's holiday armed robbery prevention strategy. The operation, which is consistent with the Commissioner's 2014 Policing Priorities, was under the command of Chief Superintendent Theophilus Cunningham

Drug Enforcement Unit Seize Illegal Gun and Ammunition

According to reports, shortly after 8:00pm on Saturday 20th December 2014, officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit acting on intelligence went to Baldwin Avenue, Chippingham, where they uncovered a tec-9 handgun with ammunition in an abandoned building. No one was arrested for this discovery.

Mobile Division Make Firearm Arrest

A 23- year old male of Pinewood Gardens is in custody after police arrested him for possession of an illegal handgun on Friday 19th December 2014. According to reports, shortly before 6:00pm, Mobile Division officers were on patrol at the junction of Sir Butler Highway and Carmichael Road, when they spotted a suspicious Honda vehicle being driven by the suspect. Police brought the vehicle to a stop and as they approached the vehicle the suspect threw an object to the ground. The officers retrieved the object and found it to be a handgun with ammunition. The suspect was taken into custody and is expected to appear in court early next week to be formally charged.

Police Seize Firearm

According to reports, shortly before 11:00pm on Monday 15th December 2014, officers from the Firearms Tracing and Investigation Unit acting on intelligence went to Hutchinson Avenue, where they uncovered a handgun underneath an abandoned vehicle. No one was arrested for this discovery.

Police Seize Handgun and Ammunition

According to reports, shortly before 11:00pm on Monday 15th December 2014, officers from the Firearms Tracing and Investigation Unit were on motorized patrol on Andros Avenue, when they observed a group of men acting suspiciously. The men on seeing the officers dropped a plastic bag and fled on foot. The officers gave chase but were unable to catch the men. The officers examined the plastic bag dropped by the men and found it to contain a handgun along with a quantity of ammunition.

Exuma Police Make Firearm Arrest

A 47- year old man was taken is in custody in Exuma after he was found in possession of an illegal firearm and a quantity of dangerous drugs on Sunday 14th December 2014. According to reports, shortly after 11:00am, Police in Exuma acting on intelligence executed a search warrant at a home located at Rolleville, where they uncovered a handgun and quantity of marijuana. The suspect was taken into custody and will appear in court early this week to be formally charged. In a separate incident, around 1:30pm, Police in Exuma arrested a 28- year man after they found him in possession of a quantity of marijuana at George Town Exuma.

Police Seize Two (2) Firearms

Police are reporting the seizure of two more illegal firearms and several rounds of ammunition off the streets of New Providence.

In the first incident, shortly after 3:30pm on Friday 12th December 2014, officers from the Firearms Tracing and Investigation Unit acting on Intelligence went to Celery Drive, Yellow Elder Gardens, where they conducted a search of a bushy area and uncovered a shotgun.

In the second incident, shortly after 1:00am on Saturday 13th December 2014, officers from the Firearms Tracing and Investigation Unit acting on Intelligence went to a busy area at Dorsett Alley off West Street, where they uncovered an A K- 47 assault rifle. No one was arrested for these two incidents.

Police Recover Two (2) Firearms

Police are reporting the seizure of two more illegal firearms and several rounds of ammunition off the streets of New Providen In the first incident, shortly after 1:00pm on Thursday 11th December 2014, officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit acting on Intelligence went to Carmen close off Blue Hill Road South, where they conducted a search of a bushy area and uncovered a shotgun. In the second incident, shortly after 1:00am on Friday 12th December 2014, officers from the Firearms Tracing and Investigation Unit acting on Intelligence went to a busy area at Roberta Drive and Roland Street Ridgeland Park West, where they uncovered a rifle. No one was arrested in these two incidents.

Mobile Make Firearm Arrest

Five men adult males were taken into custody for possession of an illegal handgun on Tuesday 2nd December 2014. According to reports, around 2:00pm, officers from the Mobile Division acting on intelligence conducted a search of a dark coloured Nissan Vehicle at Celery Drive, Yellow Elder Gardens and found an illegal handgun. The five male suspects were taken into custody for questioning in connection with this discovery

Police Seize Firearm

According to reports, shortly after 5:30pm on Sunday 30th November 2014, officers from the Mobile Division acting on intelligence went to Young Street, where they uncovered an illegal handgun along with a small quantity of marijuana in some bushes. No one was arrested for this find.

Mobile Make Firearm Arrest

Four men ages, 28, 25, 23 and 22 years were taken into custody for possession of an illegal handgun after a high-speed chase on Saturday 29th November 2014. According to reports, Shortly before 3:00pm, officers from the Mobile Division were on mobile patrol on Marathon Road, when they spotted four suspects driving in a blue Honda Accord vehicle in Jubilee Gardens acting suspiciously. The officers attempted to pull over the vehicle, but the suspects threw a handgun out of the vehicle and sped off at a high rate of speed resulting in a high-speed chase. The suspects led police on a chase to fire Trail Road where they brought the vehicle to a stop. The four suspects were immediately taken into custody and are being questioned in connection with the handgun thrown out of the vehicle during the chase.

Flying Squad Make Firearm Arrest

Two men ages 26 and 25 are in custody after they were arrested for possession of a handgun on Sunday 23rd November 2014. According to reports, shortly before 2:00am, officers from the Flying Squad were on patrol on Dowdswell and Deveaux Streets, when they observed the two suspects driving in a Honda vehicle acting suspiciously. The officers brought the vehicle to a stop and during a search of the vehicle found a handgun along with a quantity of ammunition. The two suspects were taken into custody for questioning.

Police Seize Firearm

According to reports, shortly before 10:00pm on Friday 21st November 2014, officers from the Firearms Tracing and Investigations were on patrol on Rupert Dean Lane, where they observed four men acting suspiciously. The men on seeing the officers fled on foot. The officers gave chase and were unable to catch the men. The officers conducted a search of the area the men fled from and found a handgun. The four suspects are being sought.

Police Seize Two (2) Firearms

POLICE are reporting the seizure of two illegal handguns and the arrest of one man in two separate incidents that occurred on Thursday 20th November 2014. In the first incident, shortly before 11:00am, officers from the Flying Squad were on patrol on Milton Street, when they observed two men acting suspiciously. The men on seeing the officers fled on foot. The officers gave chased and caught one of the men. A search was conducted of the man caught and a handgun along with a quantity of ammunition was found in his possession. The suspect was taken into custody for questioning. The other suspect is being sought. In the second incident, around 10:00pm, officers from the Firearm Tracing and Investigations Unit acting on intelligence went to Union Village off Wulff Road, where they uncovered a handgun along with a quantity of ammunition in an abandoned building. No one was arrested for this incident

According to reports, shortly after 2:00pm on Wednesday 19th November 2014, officers from the Flying Squad acting on intelligence uncovered a handgun along with a quantity of ammunition at a home located at Rupert Dean Lane. No one was arrested for this incident.

The operations were aimed at disrupting crime groups and targeting persons involved in criminal activities, such and Drugs and Firearms, Persons wanted for various criminal offences, Prolific Offenders, Persons wanted for Outstanding Court Warrants and motorists operating in Breach of the Traffic Laws. The operations, which are consistent with the Commissioner's 2014 Policing Priorities, were under the command of Chief Superintendent Theophilus Cunningham.

GB Police Make $6.2M Drug Bust

Police in Grand Bahama are investigating a major drug seizure that has left three Grand Bahamian males in custody. Reports are that on Sunday 16th November 2014 at 5:00am, Officers of the Drug Enforcement Unit acting on information and armed with a search warrant proceeded to a residence in the Arden Forrest area where they discovered one hundred and thirteen crocus bags of suspected marijuana and a suit case of suspected marijuana hash oil. Three Grand Bahamians were arrested and taken into police custody. The estimated weight of the suspected marijuana is 5,640.5lbs and its estimated street value is 5.6 million dollars. The estimated weight of the suspected hash oil is 67.5 lbs. and its street value is estimated at $607,500 six hundred and seven thousand, five hundred dollars. Investigation into this matter is ongoing.

According to reports, shortly before 3:00pm on Monday 10th November 2014, a team of officers from the Flying Squad acting on intelligence executed a search warrant a home located at Jubilee Gardens, where they uncovered a handgun along with a quantity of ammunition. The five suspects were taken into custody for questioning reference to this incident. Investigations are ongoing.

Police Seize Handgun and Ammunition

In the first incident around 2:00pm on Sunday 2nd November 2014, officers from the Firearms Tracing and Investigation Unit acting on intelligence went to Ida Street, where they uncovered a quantity of ammunition in a derelict vehicle. In the second incident, shortly before 11:00pm on Sunday 2nd November 2014, Mobile Division officers were on Thompson Lane, when they observed a group of men acting suspiciously. The men on seeing the officers fled on foot dropping and object to the ground. The officers gave chase, but were unable to catch any of the men. The officers retrieved the object the men dropped to the ground and found it to be a sawed off shotgun with a quantity of ammunition. Investigations are ongoing.

Police Seize Firearm. Suspect Arrested After Short Chase

A 24- year man of Fowler Street is in custody after he was arrested for possession an unlicensed firearm on Sunday 2nd November 2014. According to reports, shortly after 12:30am, Police were on mobile patrol on Tonique Darling Highway, when they heard the sounds of gunshots. Shortly thereafter the officers saw two men got into a Nissan Maxima vehicle and sped off. Police pursued the vehicle and after a shot chase the vehicle came to a stop and the two suspects fled on foot. After a short foot chase police was able to capture the suspect. The other suspect was able to elude police. Police conducted a search of the vehicle and found a handgun along with a quantity of ammunition. Investigations are ongoing.

Southern Division Police Seize Firearm

According to reports, shortly after 7:30pm on Thursday 30th October 2014, officers from the Southern Division acting on intelligence went to Farrington Road, where they uncovered a handgun along with a quantity of ammunition. No one was arrested for this discovery.

Police Recover (2) Firearms and Ammunition

In the first incident, sometime around 5:00pm on Friday 24th October 2014, officers from the Firearms Tracing and Investigations Unit acting on intelligence from members of the community went in the area of a dumpster on Step Street, Fox Hill where they observed a male acting suspiciously. The male ran and dropped a 9mm pistol loaded with two bullets. No one was arrested in the incident.

According to reports, sometime around 9:00pm on Friday 24th October 2014, officers from the Mobile Unit acting on intelligence went to a bushy area off Sea Breeze Lane where they recovered a .25 pistol loaded with 6 bullets. No one was arrested during this incident.

DEU Make $118 Drug Bust and Arrest

According to reports On Monday 27 October 2014, sometime around 12:50am a team of DEU Officers acting on intelligence stopped and searched a white Odyssey Van in the area of Chippingham near the Humane Society. The van contained five (5) crocus sacks containing suspected marijuana with a total weight of 118.2 pounds with an estimated street value of $118,000.00. The van was occupied by one Bahamian male age 34, however, three other Bahamian males ages 31, 35 and 43 were subsequently taken into custody in connection with this matter.

Police Make Ammunition Arrest

Two men ages 28 and 20 are in custody after they were arrested for possession of ammunition on Monday 20th October 2014. According to reports, shortly after 1:00pm, Police were on patrol in the Sir Lynden Pindling Estates area, when they observed the two suspects acting suspiciously. Police conducted a search of the two suspects and found a quantity of ammunition in their possession. The suspects were then taken into custody in connection with this discovery.

According to reports, shortly after 12:00noon, officers from the Firearms Tracing and Investigation Unit acting on intelligence, went to a bushy area off Strachan's Alley, where they uncovered two handguns. No one was arrested for this discovery.

Jamaican National Arrested for Firearm

A 37- year old undocumented Jamaican Man of Rocky Pine Road is in custody after he was arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm on Thursday 16th October 2014. According to reports, shortly after 1:00am, Mobile Division Officers acting on intelligence conducted a search of a Honda vehicle occupied by the suspect on Marlborough Street. During a search of the vehicle, the officers uncovered an unlicensed shotgun along with a quantity of ammunition. Police also discovered that the suspect possessed no legal documents to be in the Bahamas. The suspect was taken into custody and is expected to appear in court sometime tomorrow to face firearm and immigration related charges. Investigations are ongoing.

Two Firearms Recovered During Operation

POLICE are reporting the seizure of two firearms, during day four of its major anti-crime operation conducted in several communities of New Providence overnight. During the operation three males were arrested following the seizure of a handgun and a shotgun. Additionally, 83 drivers were cited for various criminal offences. The operation, which is consistent with the Commissioner's 2014 Policing Priorities, was under the command of Assistant Commissioner Leon Bethel.

DEU Seize Two (2) Firearms

Drug Enforcement Unit Officers has seized two illegal firearms and a quantity of dangerous drugs off the streets of New Providence on Friday 10th October 2014.

In the first incident, around 7:30am, a team of officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit, acting on intelligence executed a search warrant at a home located on Dunmore Street, where they found over 6 ounces of marijuana packaged for sale on the streets of New Providence.

A 25- year old male resident of the home was taken into custody and is expected to appear in court early next week to be formally charged.

In the second incident, around 12:00noon, a team of officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit, acting on intelligence went to an abandoned building located at Old Cedar Street, Yellow Elder Gardens, where they found two handguns along with a quantity of ammunition.

No one was arrested for this discovery. An investigation is ongoing.

NED Arrest Suspect in Immigration Break-In

According to reports, on Wednesday 8th October 2014, officers from the Northeastern Division acting on intelligence, went to an area in Fox Hill, where they arrested a 53- year old man who was recently released from prison in connection with the recent break-in at the Bahamas Immigration Department. The man is also suspected of committing several other break-ins.

CDU and Flying Squad Firearm Arrest

In the first incident, sometime around 1:50am on Sunday 5th October 2014, officers from the Flying Squad while on routine patrol in the Park Close area off Carmichael had occasion to stop a group of males found congregating under the street light. One of the males upon seeing the officer ran. Officers pursued him a short distance away and upon searching him found him in possession of a Colt .357 Magnum revolver and 7 live bullets.

In the second incident, sometime around 2:15am on Sunday 5th October 2014, officers from CDU responded to a call at a service station on Carmichael Road. Upon arrival the officers received information that the male had left in a black Honda Accord. Officers made a check of the area and intercepted a vehicle fitting the description and upon searching same seized a Bersa .45 pistol loaded with seven .45 bullets. Officers arrested the 24yr old driver of Higher Drive along with his passengers a 25yr old female resident of Millennium Gardens and a 24yr old female resident of Taylor Street.

FTIU and Mobile Firearm Arrest

Excellent 'textbook' police work has been credited for the recovery of two more firearms off the streets of New Providence and the arrest of nine persons early this morning (Monday 6th October 2014).

In the first incident, shortly after 2:30am, officers from the Mobile Division acting on intelligence conducted a search of a white Honda Accord vehicle at Faith Avenue North and found a handgun along with quantity of ammunition. Five females ages, 20, 29, 18 (x2), and 17 along with two males ages 23 and 22 were taken into custody and are expected to appear in court early this week to face firearm related charges.

In the second incident, shortly after 3:00am, officers from the Firearms Tracing and Investigations Unit acting on intelligence arrested a 23 year old female and a 22 year old male in front of a nightclub located at Faith Avenue North after they found a handgun along with a quantity of ammunition in their possession. The duo is expected to appear in court early this week to face firearm related charges.

SED Make Firearm and Ammunition Arrest

According to reports, sometime around 6:00pm on Friday 3rd October 2014, officers from the East Street South Police Station acting on information went to East Street in the area of the pump at the Big Yard where they seized a 12 gauge shotgun and six live rounds of ammunition. No one was arrested.

HMPF Make Firearm Arrest

According to reports, sometime around 2:15pm on Friday 3 October 2014, members of the HMBS Arthur Hanna contacted police in Abaco and reported holding a male in possession of a firearm. Officers responded to the government dock in Marsh Harbour and took a 42yr old male resident into custody along with a 12 gauge shotgun and 25 cartridges.

According to reports, shortly before 6:00pm on Wednesday 24th September 2014, Officers from the Firearms Tracing and Investigations Unit acting on intelligence went to a park located at Turtle Drive and Bell Show Avenue, where they uncovered a handgun along with a quantity of ammunition. No one was arrested for this seizure.

DEU Make $570K Drug Bust

DRUG ENFORCEMENT UNIT OFFICERS dealt a heavy blow to the drug trade with a huge drug bust in the Coral Harbour area that resulted in the seizure of a large amount of marijuana and the arrest of three Bahamian males ages 34, 33 and 31 on Tuesday 23rd September 2014. According to reports, around 3:30pm Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) Officers acting on intelligence led a team of officers in the area Coral Harbour, east of the round about. While conducting surveillance in the area officers stopped a black 2005 Cadillac vehicle occupied by the three suspects. The officers conducted a search of a nearby track road where they discovered a number of packages each containing a quantity of suspected marijuana. The three suspects were taken into custody for questioning reference to this huge seizure. The total weight of the marijuana is 570 pounds with an estimated street value of $570,000.00 Investigations are ongoing.

Police Seize Shotgun

According to reports, around 11:00pm on Tuesday 23rd September 2014, Mobile Division Officers acting on intelligence went to Palm Breeze Drive off Carmichael Road, where they uncovered a shotgun in a garbage container. No one was arrested for this seizure.

Two (2) Firearms Seized

POLICE are reporting the seizure of two firearms, during day four of its major anti-crime operation conducted in several communities of New Providence overnight. The first seizure occurred shortly after 10:30pm on Saturday 20th September 2014, when police arrested a 28- old man of Ridgeland Park at Sir Milio Butler Highway for possession of a handgun and ammunition. The second seizure occurred shortly after 12:30am on Sunday 21st September 2014, when police arrested a 49- old man of Cowpen Road and a 22- year old man of Pinewood Gardens at St. Vincent Road for possession of a shotgun and ammunition. Police also arrested 8 other persons for various major and minor offences including arm robbery, drugs and outstanding criminal warrants. Additionally 27 drivers were cited for various criminal offences. The operation, which is consistent with the Commissioner's 2014 Policing Priorities, was under the command of Assistant Commissioner Anthony Ferguson.

According to reports, shortly after 1:30pm on Tuesday 2nd August 2014, Police in Exuma acting on intelligence went to a house under construction in Bahama Sound, where they uncovered a handgun along with a quantity of marijuana. No one was arrested for this incident. Investigations are ongoing.

Two men ages 22 and 21 are in custody after police seized an illegal handgun on Friday 29th August 2014. According to reports, shortly after 10:00pm, Mobile Division officers acting on intelligence conducted a search of the two suspects at Dunmore Street and found a handgun along with a quantity of ammunition in their possession. The suspects were taken into custody and are expected to appear in court early next week to be formally charged.

Police took a 16- year old male into custody following the seizure of an illegal firearm on Wednesday 27th August 2014. According to reports, shortly before 8:00pm, police received a report of gunshots being fired in the area of Lightbourne Street, Yellow Elder Gardens. Officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit responded, where they observed the suspect holding a handgun in his waist. The suspect on seeing the officers threw the handgun to the ground and fled on foot. The officers gave chase and arrested the suspect. The handgun containing a quantity of ammunition was recovered. The suspect is expected to appear in court sometime tomorrow to be formally charged.

According to reports, on Saturday 16th August 2014, sometime around 9:30pm officers from the Firearm Tracing and Investigations Unit, while conducting investigations in the Golden Gates area observed three males acting suspiciously. As the males observed the officers they ran in different directions as one of them dropped an object. Officers made a check of the immediate area and recovered a .40 pistol loaded with three live rounds of ammunition. The men were able to elude the officers.

Mobile Officers Make Firearm Arrest

According to reports, on Saturday 16th August 2014, sometime around 8:00am Mobile officers while on routine patrol in the East and Young Street were stopped by concerned citizens who provided them with some information. Acting on this information the officers conducted a search of a male and discovered a small amount of drugs and a 9mm pistol loaded with 14 rounds of ammunition. Officers later recognized the male as a person wanted in connection with the murder of Kermit Pinder at Montgomery Avenue, Flamingo Gardens on 31st May 2014, and the shooting of a police officer on 11th June 2014, while sitting in his car on the park at Millers' Heights.

Police in Andros have taken four males into custody ages 27yrs of Behring Point, 27yrs of Mangrove Cay, 30 yr old of Grand Bahama and 37yrs of Mangrove Cay for possession of firearm. According to reports, Fresh Creek officers were conducting routine patrols on Cleare Avenue, Fresh Creek around 2:30am on Saturday 16th August 2014, when they had occasion to stop the men who were driving a Honda Accord and acting suspiciously. Officers conducted a search of the vehicle and seized a 9mm pistol and a small quantity of ammunition.

According to reports, sometime around 4:00pm on Thursday 14th August 2014, officers from the Carmichael Division were on routine patrol on Carmichael Road, when they had occasion to stop a vehicle for reckless driving. One of the occupants exited the vehicle and made good his escape dropping a loaded magazine for a 9mm pistol. The 50yr old driver Iguana Way also exited the vehicle and attempted to escape, but was captured a short distance away. Police wish to see 25yr old Leroy Sands of Rose Court off Iguana Way for questioning reference to this matter.

According to reports, DEU officers while conducting routine duties at Lynden Pindling International Airport Domestic Lounge conducted the search of a 47yr old male of Cable Beach. Flying Squad Make Drug Arrest

A 23- year man is in custody after he was arrested for Possession of Dangerous Drugs on Thursday 31st July 2014. According to reports, shortly before 2:00pm, Flying Squad officers were on patrol on Kim's Crescent off Baillou Hill Road, when they observed two men in a Blue BMW vehicle acting suspiciously. The men on seeing the police sped off. The officers pursued the vehicle until it came to a stop at Blue Hill Heights off Tonique Darling Highway, where one of the men exited the vehicle and threw a bag into a nearby garbage bin before fleeing on foot. The officers gave chase but were unable to catch the fleeing suspect. However police was able to recover the bag and arrest the other man who remained in the vehicle. The bag contained one (1) pound of marijuana with an estimated street value of $1,500.00. The suspect will appear in court at a later date to be formally charged.

On the heals of a 2 million dollar drug bust in New Providence, Police has dealt another major blow to the drug traffickers in the Bahamas, after they seized a large quantity of marijuana off Exuma on Thursday 31st July 2014. According to reports, around 3:00pm, Drug Enforcement Unit officers along with police in Exuma, assisted by U.S Drug Enforcement Administration officers, acting on intelligence, went to Williams Cay located some five miles off Barrateree, Exuma, where they uncovered over 763 pounds of marijuana. DEU Make $2M Drug Bust

A combination of teamwork and excellent 'textbook' Police Work has dealt a major blow to the drug traffickers in the Bahamas, after police arrested three men ages 42, 39 and 38 for possession of a huge quantity of marijuana on Thursday 31st July 2014. According to reports, around 2:00am, a team of Officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit, the Police Marine Support Unit assisted by U.S Drug Enforcement Agents, acting on intelligence, intercepted a 30 foot Midnight Express vessel 30 miles southwest of New Providence with the three suspects onboard. Drug Enforcement Unit officers conducted a search of the vessel and found a large quantity of marijuana with an estimated street value of 2 million dollars. The three suspects were taken into custody and will appear in court at a later date to be formally charged.

Quick action by police has resulted in one firearm and several rounds of ammunition being taken out of the hands of criminals on Monday 21st July 2014. Reports are that shortly before 11:00am, police received a report of three suspicious men lurking about at 7th Terrace, Centreville. When police arrived at the location they saw three men behaving suspiciously. The men on seeing the police fled on foot into Fritz Lane. The police gave chase behind the men and after a short foot chase caught one of the men at Fritz Lane and uncovered a handgun along with a quantity of ammunition in his possession. The other two men managed to elude police. Police have launched an intense search for the fleeing suspects.

Police Seize (2) Two Firearms

POLICE have taken two more firearms of the streets of New Providence in separate incidents on Friday 20th June 2014.

In the first incident, shortly after 1:25pm, Mobile Division Officers acting on intelligence, conducted a search of a home located at Union Village, where they discovered a handgun along with a quantity of ammunition. Three males ages 41, 27, and 23 were taken into custody and are expected to appear in court early next week to be formally charged.

A 15- year old juvenile male is in custody after he was arrested for a large quantity of marijuana on Friday 20th June 2014. According to reports, shortly before 12:00noon, Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) officers acting on intelligence conducted a search a of carryon bag of the suspect at LPIA General Aviation Section, who had just arrived on a charter flight at from Andros and discovered 20 pounds of marijuana with an estimated street value of $30,000.00.

In the first incident, shortly after 10:15pm, Mobile Division officers acting on intelligence went to an unfinished building located at Martin Street off Baillou Hill Road, where they found a handgun along with a quantity of ammunition. In the second incident, shortly after 11:15pm, Mobile Division officers acting on intelligence went to a bar located on Farrington Road, where they conducted a search of a 21- year old man and found a handgun along with a quantity of ammunition in his possession. The suspect was taken into custody and is expected to appear in court later this week to be formally charged.

Police Officer Shot. Suspect in Custody

A 19- year old man is custody following a shooting incident that has left a police officer detained in hospital on Sunday 8th June 2014. Preliminary information indicates, that around 9:00pm, plain clothes officers acting on intelligence were attempting to arrest a suspect in the Elizabeth Estates area who they suspected to be in possession of a firearm. The suspect fired several shots in the direction of the officers resulting in one of the officers being struck to the right arm. The officer was taken to hospital where he is detained in stable condition. A short while later police arrested the 19- year old male who is assisting with this investigation.

A 44- year old man and a 36- year old woman along with a 17 – year old juvenile male are in custody after police in Eleuthera arrested them for a large quantity of marijuana on Sunday 1st June 2014. According to reports, shortly after 6:00pm, police in Eleuthera acting on intelligence went to the Hatchet Bay Dock, where they observed the juvenile attempting to put a package on a mail boat. Police retrieved the package and found it to contain an estimated 70 pounds quantity of marijuana. The juvenile was arrested and taken into custody. Police conducted an investigation into the matter that led to the arrest of the man and woman. The trio is expected to appear in court later this week to face drug related charges.

Four males ages 54, 43, 36 and 23 along with two females ages 63 and 23 are in custody after they were arrested for a large amount of drugs on Wednesday 28th May 2014. According to reports, around 2:00pm, a team of officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit acting on intelligence went to a residence located at Colony Village, where they conducted a search of a black Chevy truck and found 158 pounds of marijuana with an estimated street value of $237,000. The six suspects were subsequently arrested and taken into custody. Investigations are ongoing.

Police Seize Two (2) Firearms

In the first incident, shortly after 4:30pm, officers from the Mobile Division acting on intelligence went to Celery Drive, Yellow Elder Gardens, where they uncovered a handgun in an abandoned building.

In the second incident, shortly before 11:00pm, officers from the Flying Squad were on patrol on Martin Street, where they observed a man acting suspiciously. The man on seeing the officers fled on foot. The officers gave chase but were unable to catch the man. The officers were able to recover a handgun that the man threw to the ground. Investigations are ongoing.

DE Make $350K Drug Bust

Six Bahamian men ages, 48, 44, 29, 27, 25 and 23 are in custody after they were arrested for a large quantity of dangerous drugs on Friday 23rd May 2014. According to reports, around 6:00pm a team of officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit acting on intelligence went to an area on West Bay Street opposite St. Albans Drive, referred to as the Sand Track, where they observed the men gathered near a moored 18 foot Boston Whaler vessel.

A search was conducted of the vessel and 250 pounds of marijuana with an estimated street value of $350,000 was found. The men were taken into custody and are expected to appear in court early next week to face drug related charges.

DEU Make $900K Drug Bust

Three Bahamian men ages 48, 35 and 32 along with a Jamaican man age 53 are in custody following a major drug bust in New Providence on Thursday 22nd May 2014. According to reports, around 6:00am, a team of officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) acting on intelligence intercepted a van occupied by the four men at the intersection of Faith Avenue and Cow Pen Road. The officers conducted a search of the van and uncovered 607 pounds of marijuana with an estimated street value of $900,000.00. The men were taken into custody and are expected to appear in court at a later date to be formally charged.

Police Recover Two Firearms

Saturated police patrols have resulted in two illegal firearms being seized and the arrest of six (6) men for firearm possession on Saturday 17th May 2014. In the first incident, shortly before 10:00pm Officers from the Internal Security Division were on Patrol on Lyon Road off Kemp Road, where they arrested two males ages, 37 and 20 after finding a handgun along with a quantity of ammunition in their possession. The two men are expected to appear in court early this week to be formally charged. In the second incident, shortly before 12:00midnight, Officers from the Flying Squad were on Patrol on Victoria Boulevard, where they conducted a search of a black Honda vehicle with four male occupants and found a handgun along with a quantity of ammunition. The four males ages 27, 25, 22 and 21 were taken into custody and is expected to appear in court early this week to be formally charged.

Police Seize Three (3) Firearms

Three men and a woman are in custody after they were arrested for firearm possession during three separate incidents on Thursday 8th May 2014.

In the first incident, around 11:00am, Officers from the Flying Squad were on patrol in Elizabeth Estates, when they observed a 22- year old man acting suspiciously. The officers conducted a search of the man and found a handgun along with a quantity of ammunition in his possession. The suspect was taken into custody for questioning reference to this discovery.

In the second incident, shortly after 6:00pm, Officers from the Firearms Tracing and Investigations Unit acting on intelligence went to a bushy area on Brougham Street, where they uncovered a handgun along with a quantity of ammunition. No one was arrested in this incident.

Police also recovered a Grey Chrysler Sebring vehicle, suspected of being stolen, in the possession of the men. The men are expected to appear in court early this week to be formally charged.

Police Recover Shotgun

According to reports, shortly after 10:00pm on Friday 2nd May 2014, Police receive a report of gunshots being fired in the St. Vincent Road area. Officers from the Southwestern Division on arrival in the area saw two men fleeing on foot drop an object to the ground. Police gave chase but were unable to catch the two men. However, police was able to recover a shotgun that the men dropped to the ground. Investigations are ongoing.

This is in regards to a report where it is alleged that firearms were being discharged in the Fox Hill area earlier Friday evening.

DEU Make $1.3M Drug Bust

A combination of Teamwork and Excellent 'textbook' Police Work has dealt a major blow to the drug traffickers in the country, after Drug Enforcement Unit officers arrested two men ages 24 and 20 years old for possession of a large quantity of marijuana on Wednesday 23rd April 2014. According to reports, around 2:30am, Drug Enforcement Unit Officers directed a joint drug interdiction operation in collaboration with OPBAT Partners (DEA and the Coast Guard), Exuma Police Marine Support Unit and Long Island Police, in the vicinity of Hard Bargain, Long Island, where a 42-foot white go-fast vessel was observed with two male occupants onboard. As the interdiction team approached the suspected vessel, the occupants were observed throwing bales of suspected marijuana into the water.

In the first incident, around 10:30am, Police in Exuma acting on intelligence conducted a search of an abandoned truck in Clapboard Alley, where they found a handgun. In the second incident, shortly after 3:30pm Police in New Providence, acting on intelligence conducted a search of an abandoned building located on Augusta Street, where they uncovered a handgun along with a small quantity of marijuana. In the third incident, shortly after 5:30pm, Police in New Providence, acting on intelligence recovered a handgun along with a quantity of ammunition near the Coral Harbour round- about. No arrests were made in these incidents. Investigations are ongoing.

Triple Murder Suspect Arrested While on Bail

A quick response by Southwestern Division officers has led to the apprehension of a 39 - year old man on bail for a triple murder moments after he committed an armed robbery on Sunday 20th April 2014. According to reports, shortly before 3:00am, Southwestern Division officers were on patrol when a woman reported to them that a man had just robbed her of her 2009 Honda Accord, while on Faith Avenue North. The officers immediately went into the Faith Avenue area, where they spotted the vehicle being driven by a lone male suspect. The officers ordered the male to stop the vehicle but he sped off. The officers pursued the vehicle and the suspect brought the vehicle to a stop after a short chase and fled on foot dropping a handgun to the ground. The officers pursued the male suspect and were able to locate and arrest him in nearby bushes. Police conducted a search of the suspect and found a quantity of ammunition in his possession. A handgun that the suspect dropped to the ground was also recovered. The suspect is on bail for a triple murder that occurred in New Providence in 2010.

Two men ages 27 years along with two other men ages 33 and 22 years are in custody after they were found in possession of a handgun on Friday 19th April 2014. According to reports, a large team of police officers conducted a major operation throughout the capital on Friday evening that resulted in the four suspects being arrested for firearm possession during a raid at a building located on Charles Vincent Street. Police recovered a handgun along with a quantity of ammunition during the raid.

DEU Make $3M Drug Arrest

A weeklong operation led by the Drug Enforcement Unit has resulted in a huge seizure of dangerous drugs on Wednesday 16th April 2014. According to reports, around 5:30pm on Wednesday 16th April 2014 the weeklong DEU intelligence led operation, culminated in the Ragged Island Chain of Cays after officers uncovered eighty-eight (88) packages of marijuana with an estimated weight of 3,000 pounds and a street value 3 million dollars. Officers from the Exuma Marine Services and DEU's OPBAT partners assisted DEU in this operation. Investigations are ongoing by DEU.

U.S Fugitive Arrested in Exuma

A man from Florida charged with numerous sexual offenses in Osceola County who fled to the Bahamas was arrested in Exuma on Saturday 12th April 2014. According to reports, around 7:50pm, Officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit assisted by officers in Exuma, acting on intelligence arrested 70- year old Loomes Wheeler of Kissimmee, Florida in Georgetown. Wheeler is wanted for nine (9) Counts of Capital Sexual Battery, four (4) Counts of Lewd and Lascivious Conduct and three (3) Counts of Sexual Performance by a Child. Wheeler is presently being held for Breach of the Immigration Act and is pending deportation to the United States.

In the first incident, shortly after 3:00pm on Tuesday 15th April 2014, Mobile Division officers acting on intelligence went to an abandoned building on Eaton Street, Yellow Elder Garden, where they recovered a handgun. In the first second, around 10:00pm on Tuesday 15th April 2014, Flying Squad Officers acting on intelligence conducted a search of a 17- year old male at Palmetto Avenue and found a handgun in his possession. The suspect was taken into custody and is expected appear in court later this week to be formally charged. In the second incident, 2:00am on Wednesday 16th April 2014, Mobile Division officers acting on intelligence, went to bushes in the Pinewood Gardens area, where they recovered a handgun.

Flying Squad and Mobile Division Make Firearm Arrest, Three Firearms Seized

As a result of "spot on" police intelligence, a 37- year old woman, along with three men ages 43, 31, 22 and a 15 year old juvenile male were arrested for possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition on Thursday 17th April 2014. According to reports, around 3:00am, officers from the Flying Squad and Mobile Division acting on intelligence executed a search warrant at a home located on Rock Crusher Road. During the search the officers uncovered two (2) handguns, a Shotgun and a small quantity of marijuana. The five suspects were taken into custody and are expected to face firearms and drug related charges.

$7.5M Marijuana Field Discovered

Reports are that on Thursday 10th April 2014 around 10:00am, Officers of the Drug Enforcement Unit along with U.S counterparts acting on information went to an undeveloped area just two and a half miles in East Grand Bahama, where they discovered a number of marijuana plants ranging between one to five feet in height. The plots contained approximately 75 thousand plants with a street value of 7.5 million dollars. Officers also discovered three black garbage bags that contained freshly processed marijuana along with three make shift tents in the area. No arrest were made at this time, police are actively investigating this matter.

A 30- year old Jamaican woman is in custody after she was arrested for importation of dangerous drugs at LPIA on Wednesday 9th April 2014. According to reports, around 1:00pm, Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) Officers acting on intelligence conducted a search of the suspect who had just arrived on a commercial airline from Panama and found 2.4 pounds of cocaine in her possession. The drugs have an estimated street value of $16,000:00. Additionally, the officers seized the sum of $1,200.00 from the woman suspected to be the proceeds of dangerous drugs. The woman was taken into custody and is now facing Importation of Dangerous Drugs and Possession of Dangerous Drugs with Intent to Supply charges.

A 51- year old Jamaican woman is in custody after she was arrested for Possession of Dangerous Drugs on Wednesday 9th April 2014. According to reports, shortly after 1:30pm, Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) Officers acting on intelligence conducted a search of a hotel room in Down Town, Nassau and found an orange bag containing 2.4 pounds of suspected cocaine with an estimated street value of $16,000:00. Additionally, the officers seized the sum of $765.26 from the woman suspected to be the proceeds of dangerous drugs. The woman was taken into custody and is now facing Importation of Dangerous Drugs and Possession of Dangerous Drugs with Intent to Supply charges. DEU confirmed that this suspect also arrived to The Bahamas on a commercial airline from Panama today.

Eleuthera Police Recover Several Suspected Stolen Vehicles

POLICE acting on intelligence conducted an operation in North Eleuthera on Wednesday 9th April 2014 that led to the discovery of a number of vehicles reported stolen from New Providence earlier this year. One (1) Honda vehicle was recovered in the Bluff and four (4) Honda vehicles were recovered in Lower Bogue. All of the vehicles will be transported to New Providence, where Detectives from the Central Detective Unit will continue investigations.

A 28- year old man and a 19- year old woman are in custody after they were arrested for possession of dangerous drugs. According to reports, sometime during the evening of Tuesday 8th April 2014, Officers from the Northeastern Division executed a search of a home located at Whites Addition, where they uncovered a quantity of dangerous drugs packaged for sale on the streets. The man and woman were taken into custody and are facing several drug related charges.

DEU Make Drug Bust at LPIA

Two Bahamian male pilots ages 48 and 37 years along with a 23- year old Canadian man are in custody after they were arrested following a huge drug seizure at LPIA on Monday 7th April 2014.

According to reports, around 8:00pm, Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) Officers assisted by officers from the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) acting on intelligence went to the Executive Flight Support section at the Lynden Pindling International Airport (LPIA), where they conducted a search of a Hawker Jet that had just arrived to the Bahamas from Montreal Canada.

During the search, the officers found Four (4) suitcases containing 149 pounds of Marijuana, 17.4 pounds of Esctasy Pills and 2.6 pounds of Hashish Oil. The three suspects were then taken into custody and are expected to appear in court later this week to face several drug related charges.

Three (3) Bahamian men ages 45, 40 and 34 are in custody following a major drug bust by police on Wednesday 2nd April 2014. According to reports, around 5:15am, DEU officers in collaboration with Police Marine Support Services and OPBAT (DEA Team) intercepted a 30 foot Midnight Express go-fast vessel in the area of Cargill Creek, Andros occupied by three men. A search was conducted of the vessel and approximately 1,200 pounds of marijuana was seized with a street value of 1.2 million dollars. The men were arrested and brought to the capital along with the drugs. Investigations are ongoing.

A 32- year old man and a 25- year old woman are in custody after they were arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm and dangerous drugs on Thursday 3rd April 2014. According to reports, shortly before 4:00am, Mobile Division officers acting on intelligence went to a home at Meadow St, where they conducted a search for firearm and drugs. The search resulted the discovery of a handgun and a quantity of ammunition. Additionally, the officers found a quantity of marijuana. The man and woman were taken into custody and are expected to appear in court sometime tomorrow to be formally charged.

US Visitor Arrested for Firearms

A 57- year old man from Massachusetts, U.S.A. is in custody after he was arrested for Threats of Death, Possession of Dangerous Drugs and Possession of an Unlicensed Firearm on Tuesday 1st April 2014. According to reports shortly before 4:00pm, a female friend of the suspect reported to police that the suspect threatened to shoot her while onboard a sailboat moored off Nassau Harbour. Police arrested the suspect shortly after the report was made. Police assisted by officers from the Customs Department and Defense Force later conducted a search of the suspect’s 40ft sailboat and found a quantity of marijuana. Police also confiscated a handgun along with 145 rounds of ammunition. Investigations are ongoing.

Three (3) Firearms Recovered

Two (2) American men ages 57 and 43 years from Destin, Florida were taken into custody after they were found in possession of two (2) unlicensed firearms on Sunday 30th March 2014. According to reports, shortly after 2:00am Officers from the Royal Bahamas Defense Force conducted a search of a pleasure boat moored at East Bay Street and found two (2) rifles that the two suspects failed to declare upon entering the Bahamas. The men were taken into custody and handed over to the police for further investigations. Further investigations by police into this matter has led to the recovery of three (3) handguns and a total of just over 60 rounds of ammunition.

Two (2) American Citizens were taken into custody for two separate drug possession incidents on Saturday 29th March 2014. In the first incident, shortly after 12:00noon, police acting on information arrested a 21- year old American man from Hialeah, Florida at Cabbage Beach, Paradise Island after they found him in possession of a quantity of marijuana. In the second incident, shortly after 2:00pm, police acting on information arrested a 21- year old American man from North Charleston, South Carolina, onboard a pleasure boat moored at Prince George Dock, after they found him in possession of a quantity of marijuana.

Police assisted by customs officials have taken two weapons off the streets of New Providence on Friday 28th March 2014. Reports are that shortly after 12:30pm Police and Customs officials acting on intelligence uncovered two high-powered assault weapons along with over 100 rounds of ammunition at the Arawak Cay Port. Police are following some significant leads in this matter and is expected to make an arrest very soon.

Police Recover Two (2) Firearms

Police intelligence has led to two more firearms being taken off the streets of New Providence in separate incidents. In the first incident, around shortly after 9:00am on Saturday 22nd March 2014 Southwestern Division Officers along other officers acting on intelligence went to bushes near the Southern Cemetery located off Carmichael Road west, where they uncovered a handgun along with a quantity of ammunition. In the second incident, around shortly before 4:00am on Sunday 23rd March 2014 Mobile Division officers acting on intelligence went to Palmetto Avenue and Crooked Island Street, where they uncovered a mini assault rifle along with a quantity of ammunition. No arrests were made in neither of these incidents. Investigations are ongoing.

Roberry Suspect Arrested. Firearm Recovered

A male suspect is detained in hospital under heavy police guard following a shooting incident that occurred on Friday 21st March 2014. According to reports, shortly after 2:00am, police received a report of a suspicious man on the premises of Club Waterloo located on East Bay Street. Police on arrival at the location observed a male suspect firing shots with a handgun at two male patrons outside of the club. The officers engaged the armed suspect and shot him multiple time to the body. Police was able to recover a handgun and a large quantity of ammunition from the suspect. The two patrons who were shot by the suspect were transported to hospital where one of them is detained in critical condition and the other is in stable condition. The suspect was also transported to hospital where he is detained in critical condition. Investigations are ongoing.

3 Firearms Recovered

Consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Priorities for 2014, a team of officers under the command of Assistant Commissioner Anthony Ferguson conducted an aggressive police operation that targeted a number of persons suspected to be involved in a number of criminal activities throughout New Providence on Tuesday 18th March 2014. The operation resulted in a number search warrants being executed and the arrest of three persons. The first arrest occurred shortly after 1:00pm, when the operation team conducted a search of a 38-year old male at East Storr Court and found just over two pounds of marijuana in his possession. The second arrest occurred shortly after 5:00pm, when the operation team observed a group of men acting suspiciously at Stack Avenue, Nassau Village. The men on seeing the officers fled on foot. The officers gave chase, arrested three of the men and recovered three firearms along with a quantity of ammunition.

Police intelligence has led to another firearm being taken off the streets of New Providence on Tuesday 18th March 2014. According to reports, shortly after 9:00pm, Mobile Division Officers acting on intelligence went to 7th Street and Palm Tree Ave, where they uncovered a shotgun. No one was arrested in connection with this discovery.

According to reports, around 5:30am on Tuesday 18th March 2014, Mobile Division officers acting on intelligence went to Coconut Grove Avenue and East Street, where they uncovered a handgun in a garbage container. No one was arrested in this incident. Investigations are ongoing.

NED Seize Two (2) Firearms

North Eastern Division officers took two more illegal firearms off the streets of New Providence in two separate incidents. In the first incident, around 2:30pm on Friday 14th March 2014, Northeastern Division officers acting on intelligence went to an abandoned building located at Strachan's Alley, where they uncovered a handgun. In the second incident, shortly after 12:00am on Saturday 15th March 2014, officers from the Northeastern Division acting on intelligence, went to the rear of a building located on Mackey Street, where they observed a 31- year old man acting suspiciously. The officers conducted a search of the man and found a handgun along with a quantity of ammunition in his possession. The man was taken into custody and is expected to appear in court early this week to be formally charged.

Flying Squad Make Ammunition Arrest

A 17- year juvenile male is in custody after he was arrested for possession of ammunition on Wednesday 12th March 2014. According to reports, around 7:00pm, a team of officers from the Flying Squad and the Firearms Tracing and Investigations Unit executed a search warrant at a local motel room located on East Street South, where they uncovered a quantity of ammunition. The juvenile was taken into custody for questioning. Investigations are ongoing.

Suspect Shot by Police. Firearm Recovered

A firearm is recovered and a 22- year old man is detained in hospital under heavy police guard after being shot by police on Sunday 9th March 2013. Preliminary information indicates that around 3:30am police acting on intelligence went to a local nightclub located on Nassau Street, where they observed a group of men exiting the club. On seeing the officers one of the men ran into the club. Police pursued the man who took a handgun from his waist and threw it to another man. The man with the firearm pointed the weapon at the police and the officers in fear of his life shot the gunman in his right leg. The man was rushed to hospital via ambulance where he is listed in stable condition. Police recovered a handgun along with a quantity of ammunition.

Police Seize Five (5) Firearms, Make Five (5) Arrest

Police in separate incidents have confiscated five (5) more firearms off the streets of New Providence.

In the first incident, shortly after 10:00am on Friday 7th March 2014, Mobile Division officers were on routine patrol on Rupert Dean Lane, when they observed a man acting suspiciously. The man on seeing the police dropped an object to the ground and fled on foot. The police gave chase but was unable to catch the man. Police retrieved the object and found it to be a handgun containing a quantity of ammunition.

In the second incident, shortly before 2:00pm on Friday 7th March 2014, Officers from the Firearm Tracing and Investigations Unit acting on intelligence conducted a search of an abandoned building located at Parkgate Road, where they uncovered a handgun.

In the third incident, shortly after 4:00am on Saturday 8th March 2014, Officers from the Firearm Tracing and Investigations Unit acting on intelligence executed a search warrant at a Dignity Gardens home, where they uncovered a shotgun and a quantity of marijuana. A 31-year old man was taken into custody and is expected to appear in court early this week to be formally charged.

In the fourth incident, shortly before 4:00am on Sunday 9th March 2014, Mobile Division officers were on patrol on Baillou Hill Road and Poinciana Drive, where they observed a male acting suspiciously. The officers conducted a search of the male and found a handgun containing a number of ammunition in his possession. The male age 17- years was taken into custody and is expected to appear in court early this week to be formally charged.

In the fifth incident, shortly before 4:00am on Sunday 9th March 2014, Mobile Division officers acting on intelligence while on Carmichael Road arrested three (3) men ages 29, 24 and 21 years after a handgun was found in their possession. The men are expected to appear in court early this week to be formally charged.

Mobile Division Make $50K Drug Bust

Three men ages 36, 34, 28 years are in custody after they were arrested following a large drug bust early this morning (Friday 7th March 2014). According to reports, shortly before 7:00am Mobile Division officers were on routine patrol at Potters Cay Dock, when they observed a male employee of a mail boat hand over a package to two men. The two men then drove off in a vehicle. Police intercepted the vehicle and discovered two packages containing over 50 pounds of marijuana in the vehicle. The three men were taken into custody and are expected to appear in court early next week to be formally charged. The marijuana has an estimated street value of $50,000. 00. Investigations are ongoing.

Harbour Island Police Make Drug Arrest

Six (6) adult males along with a juvenile male are in custody after they were arrested in Harbour Island for possession of dangerous drugs on Friday 7th March 2014. According to reports, shortly before 5:00pm, a team of officers from Harbour Island conducted an operation in the Pitt and Princess Streets area of Harbour Island that resulted in the discovery of a quantity of marijuana. The six (6) suspects were taken into custody for questioning reference to possession of dangerous drugs.

Police Seize 3 Firearms

Police have taken three firearms off the streets of New Providence during two separate incidents on Thursday 6th March 2014. In the first incident, shortly before 6:00pm, Drug Enforcement Unit officers were on patrol on Amos Ferguson Avenue, when they observed a man acting suspiciously. The man on seeing the police ran and threw two objects to the ground. The police gave chase and were unable to catch the man. Police discovered the two objects thrown to the ground to be two handguns along with a quantity of ammunition. In the second incident, shortly before 8:00pm, Police acting on intelligence, went to an abandoned building located at Apache Alley off Kemp Road, where the uncovered a handgun. No one was taken into custody in connection with these two incidents. Investigations are ongoing.

FTIU Make Drugs and Ammunition Arrest

A 30- year old man along with a 53- year old woman are in custody after they were arrested for possession of ammunition and dangerous drugs on Thursday 6th March 2014. According to reports, around 7:20pm, a team of officers from the Firearms Tracing and Investigations Unit acting on intelligence executed a search warrant at a home located at Trinity Way and Bethel Avenue. During the search the officers uncovered a quantity of ammunition and marijuana. The man and woman were taken into custody and are expected to appear in court later today to face Drug and Ammunition charges. The 30- year old man was wearing a court issued Electronic Monitoring Device at the time of his arrest.

DEU Arrest Two Jamaican National For Proceeds of Crime

Two (2) men ages 54 and 40 years are in custody after they were arrested on Thursday 6th March 2014, for possession of a large amount of cash suspected of being derived from the Proceeds of Crime. According to reports, around 12:50pm, Drug Enforcement Unit officers acting on intelligence conducted a search of the two men at Lynden Pindling International Airport (LPIA) and found a large amount of cash suspected of being the Proceeds of Crime in their possession. The two men who were attempting to board a flight to Jamaica were taken into custody and are expected to appear in court later today to be formally charged.

DEU Make $512K Drug Bust

An intelligence led operation by Drug Enforcement Officers has dealt a major blow to the drug traffickers in New Providence, after a 47- year old man, a 24- year old man and two 39 year old men along with two women ages 38 and 35 years were arrested for possession of a huge quantity of marijuana on Thursday 27th February 2014. According to reports, around 6:00am on Thursday 27th February 2014, a team of officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) acting on intelligence went to a home located at South Beach Drive, South Beach where they executed a search warrant for dangerous drugs and found 512 pounds of marijuana with an estimated street value of $512,000.00 hidden in a Honda vehicle. The four men and two women were taken into custody and will appear in court at a later date to face several drug related charges.

Southwestern Division Make Major Firearm and Ammunition Arrest

Four (4) firearms and several hundred rounds of ammunition were seized during an intelligence led operation conducted by Southwestern Division Officers on Friday 28th February 2014. No one was arrested in relation to the seizure. According to reports around 4:00pm, a team of officers from the Southwestern Division acting on intelligence went to a Park in Flamingo Gardens, where they conducted a search of a backpack and found, 2 handguns, 2 rifles, and over 700 live rounds of ammunition. Investigations are ongoing.

Southwestern Division Recover BTC Stolen Copper Wire

Police are expected to make an arrest very shortly in the theft of a large amount of Bahamas Telecommunication Company (BTC) copper wire that occurred on Wednesday 26th February 2014. According to reports, shortly before 3:00am Officers from the Southwestern Division were on routine patrol on Rocky Pine Road, when they observed a man loading a huge amount of copper wire into a Toyota Vehicle license number 216626. The man fled when he saw the officers approaching. Police is searching for the suspect. Police conducted enquiries in the area and discovered that the copper wire was stolen from a nearby Bahamas Telecommunications Company overhead and ground connection.

A 33- year old man and two 17- year old males are in custody after they were arrested for a large quantity of dangerous drugs on Friday 28th February 2014. According to reports, around 5:00pm, a team of officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) acting on intelligence executed a search warrant at a Palm Beach Street home where they found 7 pounds of marijuana with an estimated street value of $7,000.00. The three males were taken into custody and are expected to appear in court early next week to face drug related charges.

Mobile Division Make Firearm Arrest

A 47-year old man of St. Margaret Road is in custody after he was arrested for Possession of an Unlicensed Firearm during a routine traffic stop on Monday 24th February 2014. According to reports, shortly before 2:00am, Mobile Division officers were on patrol on Fowler Street off East Bay Street, when they stopped a black Honda Acura car driven by the suspect for a traffic violation. The suspicious action of the suspect prompted the officers to conduct a search of his vehicle. A search of the suspect's vehicle turned up a handgun along with a quantity of ammunition. The suspect was taken into custody and is expected to appear in court later this week to face formal charges.

Two (2) men ages 51 years along with a 46- year old man are in custody following a major drug seizure on Monday 24th February 2014. According to reports, around 4:00am, a team of officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit assisted by officers from the Royal Bahamas Defense Force carried out an intelligence-led operation in the Sea Breeze area where they observed a large quantity of dangerous drugs being off loaded from a vessel onto a truck. The three men were taken into custody and over 800 pounds of marijuana with an estimated street value of $800,000.00 was seized. Investigations are ongoing.

Intelligence Led police work by officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit has led to the arrest of four men ages 32, 29, 21 and 20 years for Firearm Possession on Monday 17th February 2014. According to reports, shortly after 10:30pm Drug Enforcement Officers (DEU) acting on Intelligence conducted a search of a Gray 2006 Honda Accord vehicle occupied by the four suspects at Armbrister Street, Fox Hill and uncovered two (2) illegal handguns along with a quantity of ammunition. The four suspects were taken into custody and will appear in court later this week to face firearm related charges.

GB Police Make $2M Drug Bust

Reports are that on Tuesday 4th February 2014 shortly before 8:00am, Officers of the Drug Enforcement Unit along with Bahamas Customs and U.S Customs conducted a search of a 20 ft. container at the Freeport Container Port and discovered among bags of coffee three large black bags containing suspected cocaine. One bag contained (30) black taped packages, the second bag contained (25) silver tape packages, and the third bag contained (25) silver taped packages, all suspected to be cocaine, for a total of (80) packages. Total weight of suspected cocaine 209 pounds. Estimated street value of suspected cocaine is two million dollars. No arrests were made in this matter, however police investigations are continuing.

CIB OFFICERS DISCOVER FIREARM
Increased police patrols combined with intelligence led policing has resulted in another illegal firearm being taken off the streets of New Providence on Monday 3rd February 2014.

According to reports, Shortly after 4:00pm, officers from the Central Intelligence Bureau (CIB) acting on intelligence conducted a search at the rear of an abandoned building located on Augusta Street, where they recovered a semi automatic handgun.

Increased police visibility has led to the recovery of an additional firearm off the streets of New Providence on Friday 31st January 2014. According to reports, shortly before 5:00pm officers from the Firearm Tracing and Investigations Unit were on patrol on Shirley Street near a basketball court, when they observed a man acting suspiciously. The man on seeing the officers dropped two items to the ground and ran off. The officers gave chase but was unable to catch the man. A handgun along with a quantity of marijuana was uncovered from the ground by the officers.

Two (2) men are in custody after they were arrested overnight for questioning in connection with two recent murders that occurred in New Providence.

In the first incident, shortly after 10:00pm on Tuesday 28th January 2014, Officers from the Flying Squad acting on intelligence arrested two men ages 34 and 22- year of Windsor Lane, for questioning reference to a recent Murder.

In the second incident, shortly after 10:30pm on Tuesday 28th January 2014, officers from the Flying Squad acting on intelligence arrested a 24- year old male of Ross Corner for questioning reference to a recent Murder.

A 22- year old man of Exuma is in custody after he was arrested on that island for possession of an unlicensed firearm on Tuesday 28th January 2014. According to reports, around 4:20am, police in Exuma acting on intelligence, while at the Government Dock situated in George Town, conducted a search of a carryon bag the suspect had in his possession and found an unlicensed shotgun. The suspect was then taken into custody and is expected to appear in court later this week to face firearm related charges.

Exuma Police Make $5K Drug Bust

Two (2) men ages 50 and 23 years of Exuma are in custody after they was arrested on that island for possession of dangerous drugs on Tuesday 28th January 2014. According to reports, around 8:20pm, police in Exuma acting on intelligence, while at the Government Dock situated in George Town, conducted a search of a box the suspect had in his possession and found a quantity of marijuana. The suspect was then taken into custody. Police later arrested the 23- year old suspect in connection with this incident. The two suspects are expected to appear in court later this week to face drug related charges.

The estimate weight of the drugs is five (5) pounds with a street value of $5,000 dollars.

In the second incident, around 10:30pm, Officers from the Firearms Tracing and Investigations Unit (FTIU) were on East Street near Lewis Street, when they observed a man acting suspiciously. The man on seeing the officers dropped an object to the ground and fled on foot. The officers gave chase but were unable to catch the man. The officers recovered the object and found it to be a handgun.

Flying Squad Arrest 5 for Firearm

Four (4) men ages 40, 39, 36 along with a 33- year old female are in custody after they were arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm on Sunday 26th January 2014. According to reports, shortly after 4:30am, police received reports of gunshots being fired in the Baillou Hill Road area. Officers from the Flying Squad and Mobile Division responded and as a result of intelligence went to a local bar occupied by the five suspects on Baillou Hill Road south of Dillet Street. The officers conducted a search of the bar for firearms and uncovered a handgun along with a quantity of ammunition. The five suspects were taken into custody and will appear in court early this week to face firearm related charges.

A 23- year old man is in custody after he was arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm on Saturday 25th January 2014. According to reports, shortly before 7:00pm, Mobile Division Officers acting on intelligence went to Taylor Street off East Street, where they observed a male acting suspiciously. The suspect on seeing the officers dropped an object to the ground and fled on foot. After a short foot chase the officers caught the suspect and recovered the object and found it to be a handgun containing a quantity of ammunition. The suspect was taken into custody and will appear in court early this week to face firearm related charges.

GB Police Make Firearm Arrest

On Friday 24th January 2014 around 9:30pm, officers while on patrol observed a champagne Buick Sabre travelling south on Frobisher Drive with two male occupants. The vehicle was stopped and officers conducted a search of the occupants and retrieved from the right waist of the driver a handgun with ammunition.

The driver a 39 year old male of Kings Road and the passenger a 30- year old male of Fair Court, both of Grand Bahama were arrested and taken into police custody.

Police are investigating this matter.

Police took two (2) more illegal firearms off the streets of New Providence on Friday 24th January 2013. According to reports, shortly before 5:00pm, Officers from the Firearms Tracing and Investigations Unit acting on intelligence went to a bushy area on Celery Drive, where they uncovered a handgun along with a quantity of ammunition.

The officers also uncovered an assault rifle. No one was arrested in this matter.

Eastern Division Housebreaking Arrest

Swift action by police has resulted in the arrest of two (2) men wearing ankle bracelets ages 21 and 19 shortly after they committed a housebreaking on Thursday 23rd January 2013. According to reports, shortly before 2:00pm, police received a report that a home located at Star Estates in the eastern end of New Providence had just been broken into. Officers from the Eastern Division sprung into action and was able to arrest the two suspects a short while later in the immediate area. The officers were able to recover a number of stolen items such as, jewelry, electronic appliances and cash. Both suspects were wearing court issued electronic ankle bracelets.

A 27- year old male is in custody after he was arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm on Thursday 23rd January 20134. According to reports, shortly after 11:00pm, Northeastern Division Officers were on patrol, when they observed a silver Nissan vehicle being driven by the suspect acting suspiciously. The officers stopped the vehicle and conducted a search for firearms and dangerous drugs. During the search, the officer uncovered a handgun along with a quantity of ammunition. The officers also uncovered a quantity of marijuana. The suspect was taken into custody and will appear in court to face firearm and drug related charges.

Police in Great Harbor Cay Uncover Drugs

According to reports, around 5:00pm on Tuesday 21st January 2014,Police in Great Harbour Cay, acting on information received, went to the Bahamas Customs Office, where they conducted a search of a television and two computers shipped from the United States via a private aircraft. During the search, the officers discovered 4.5 pounds of marijuana hidden in the interior of the electronic items. Investigations are ongoing.

A 20- year old male along with two 18- year old males are in custody after they were arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition o n Friday 17th January 2014. Two (2) men ages 30 and 19 years, along with three females ages 28, 22, and 18 years are in custody after they were arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm on Saturday 18th January 2014. According to reports, shortly before 12:00midnight a team of officers from the Flying Squad, acting on intelligence, executed a search warrant at a home located at Deveaux Street, where they discovered a handgun along with a quantity of ammunition. Additionally the officers uncovered two imitation firearms. The men and women were taken into custody and are expected to appear in court early next week to face firearm related charges.

Four additional persons were arrested in connection with the major drugs haul of (42) bales of marijuana seized on Wednesday 15th January 2014. The incident occurred on Friday 17th January 2014 around 4:20pm, officers of the Drug Enforcement Unit, acting on information, went to a hotel on Beach Way Drive and arrested two males, a 49 year old and a 40 year old, both of Nicholls Town, Andros. Officers also arrested one female a 21 year old of Jones Town, Eight Mile Rock in connection with the major drug haul. Further officers arrested another male a 31 year old of Jones Town, Eight Mile Rock while in the area of East Beach Drive who was wanted in connection with the major drug haul. This matter is under active police investigation.

GB Police Make $2M Drug Bust

Police in Grand Bahama discovers over (2) two million dollars in Dangerous Drugs. Reports are that on Wednesday 15th January 2014, shortly before midnight, Officers of the Drug Enforcement Unit along with other law enforcement agencies acting on information went to the Holmes Rock Grave Yard area and discovered a beached 42ft vessel with (1) 250 horse power Yamaha engine attached. Officers also observed a number of persons gathered around the vessel. Upon further search of the vessel officers discovered (42) crocus sack bags containing suspected marijuana. Six males and one female was arrested and taken into police custody. They are all expected to be charged and placed before the court. The estimated weight of the suspected marijuana is 2,102.5lbs and the estimated street value is $2,102,500.00

50 Drivers Cited During Southeastern Division Police Operation

Southeastern Division Officers under the Leadership of Superintendent Aston Greenslade conducted an aggressive police operation in the division on Wednesday 15th January 2013.

The operation was aimed at:

  1. Increasing Police Visibility throughout various communities in the division
  2. Prosecuting traffic violators
  3. Identifying and arresting persons who commit major and minor crimes in the division.

The operation resulted in a number of persons being search for firearms and dangerous drugs and a total 50 drivers cited for various traffic violations.

GB Police Make 2.8M Drug Bust

A combination of Teamwork and Excellent 'textbook' Police Work has dealt a major blow to the drug traffickers in Grand Bahama, after police on that island arrested a 49 year old man and 30 year old man for possession of a huge quantity of marijuana and cocaine on Sunday 12th January 2014.

According to reports, shortly after 11:00am, Drug Enforcement Officers in Grand Bahama assisted by U.S Drug Enforcement Agents, acting on intelligence, went to a home located at Bayshore and Midshipman Roads, Grand Bahama to execute a search warrant for dangerous drugs. While at the residence a man showed up in a 2006 Isuzu Pickup truck and exited the truck with a duffle bag in his hand. The officers detained the man, conducted a search of the duffle bag and found it to contain a large quantity of cocaine. The officers then conducted a search of the truck and found three (3) boxes, each containing a large amount of cocaine. The 30-year old male driver of the truck was then taken into custody. Also a 49-year old man who resides at the home was taken into custody.

Arround 4:30pm later that evening the officers acting on additional intelligence, went to the driver of the truck's home located at Fiddlers Green,Grand Bahama, where they excecuted a search warrant and found a large amount of marijuana in a cooler. Police also seized $6,248.00 in cash suspected to be the proceeds of crime.

The estimated weight of the Cocaine is two hundred and forty-seven (247) pounds with an estimated street value of 2.8 million dollars.

The estimated weight of the marijuana is three hundred and eight (308) pounds with an estimated street value of three hundred and eight (308) thousand dollars.

The two men will be flown into New Providence where they are expected to face a number of drug related charges later this week.

DEU Recovers Two (2) Firearms

Police took two additional firearms of the streets of New Providence in two separate incidents on Wednesday 8th January 2014.

In the first incident shortly before 11:00pm Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) Officers acting on intelligence, went to a bushy area in Union Village, where they uncovered a handgun along with a quantity of ammunition.

In the second incident shortly after 11:00pm Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) Officers acting on intelligence, went to Gilbert Street, Kennedy Sub-division, where they uncovered a handgun in a garbage bin. No arrests were made in these two incidents.

According to reports, around 9:45pm on Sunday 5th January 2014, Mobile Division Officers acting on Intelligence, went to a bushy area on Fire Trail Road off Sir Milo Butler Highway, where they uncovered eleven (11) pounds of marijuana with a street value of eleven thousand dollars ($11,000.00) No one was arrested. A 24-year old male of Wilson Track, is in custody after he was arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm on Monday 6th January 2014. According to reports, shortly after 1:00am, Police acting on intelligence went to the rear of a nightclub located on East Bay Street, where they conducted a search of the suspect and found a handgun along with a quantity of ammunition in his possession. The suspect was taken into custody and will face firearms related charges later this week.
