Four Handguns Seized by Police

Consistent with the Commissioner's Policing Plan for 2017, Police continue to ramp up efforts across the island to remove illegal guns off the streets of New Providence, with the seizure of four illegal handguns over the past four days. In the first incident, which occurred shortly before 3:00pm on Wednesday 1st March 2017, officers assigned to the Selective Enforcement Team carried out an operation in Union Village and a .40 handgun with 13 live rounds of ammunition was found hidden in an abandoned building. No one was arrested in relation to the seizure. In the second incident, that occurred shortly after 10:00pm on Thursday 2nd March 2017, officers assigned to the Selective Enforcement Team on operation carried out an operation at Royal Palm Street and a .9 millimeter Luger pistol was found hidden in an abandoned building. No one was arrested in relation to the seizure. In the third incident, shortly before 4:00pm on Friday 3rd March 2017, Mobile Division officers were on routine patrol on Market Street, when the observed a Honda Accord vehicle being driven in a dangerous manner by a male. The officers pursued the vehicle, which came to a stop near Baker Street. The male driver exited the vehicle and fled on foot. The officers were unable to catch him. A search was conducted of the vehicle and a .40 Glock Pistol with a magazine containing 12 rounds of ammunition was found inside. In the final incident, shortly after 12:00midnight on Saturday 4th March 2017, officers attached to the Selective Enforcement Team were on routine patrol on Cumberbatch Alley, when they observed a man standing near an abandoned building. When they approached, the man dropped an object and ran. The object was retrieved and found to be a .40 pistol with a magazine containing 16 rounds of ammunition. SEE RECENT NEWS

Murder Suspect Arrested in Major Police Operation

A 26-year old man and a 22-year old female are in custody assisting police in connection with the murder of Warren Wilmot that occurred on Sunday 23rd December at West Bay Street. According to police reports, around 10pm on Thursday 27th December 2012 a team of officers from the Central Detective Unit, the Selective Enforcement Team and the Central Intelligence Branch arrested the suspects at their South Beach Residence during a special police operation.

Mobile Division Uncovers Firearm. Armed Robbery Suspect Apprehended.

A 15-year old juvenile is in custody assisting police in connection with an early morning armed robbery that occurred on Friday 28th December 2012. According to police reports, around 5:00am police received a report that an adult male was held up and robbed by three men on Baillou Hill Road. Officers from the Mobile Division responded and met three men in the area fitting the description of the suspects. The suspects on seeing the officers fled on foot. After a short foot chase officers arrested one of the suspects and uncovered a handgun that the suspects threw to the ground. Police are seeking the other two suspects. Investigations continue.

Mobile Division Arrests Murder Suspect. Recovers Weapon

A 28-year old male suspect is in police custody in connection with the country's latest murder that occurred on Wednesday 26th December 2012. According to police reports, around 10:30pm a 32-year old deceased male was walking on Third Street just north of Coconut Grove Avenue along with another male, when two men in a white Honda Accord vehicle pulled up and opened fire on them with a firearm. The deceased received multiple gunshot wounds about the body and was pronounced dead on the scene. The other male a 17-year old, received a gunshot wound to the leg and is detained in hospital in stable condition. Moments later officers from the Mobile Division acting on information received arrested a 28-year old male at his Yellow Elder residence in connection with this matter. Police also found a handgun along with a quantity of ammunition in the suspect's possession. Police is seeking the other suspect.

Mobile Division Uncovers Firearm

According to police reports, shortly before 8:00pm on Wednesday 26th December 2012, officers from the Mobile Division were on mobile patrol in the Ridgeland Park area when they observed two men acting suspiciously. The men on seeing the officers dropped an object to the ground and fled on foot. The officers gave chase but were unable to apprehend the two men. The officers retrieved the object and found it to be a handgun with ammunition. Investigation continues.

Mobile Division Uncovers Firearm

According to police reports around 8:55pm on Saturday 22nd December, 2012 officers of the Mobile Division acting on information went to Ashley Street, Ridgeland Park West where they discovered a shotgun. No arrests were made in connection with this incident. Active police investigations continue.

'Saturation Patrol' Yeilds Firearm Arrest

A 38-year old man is in custody after police arrested him for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition, on Thursday 20th December 2012. According to police reports, around 2:50pm police on saturation patrol acting on information received went to West End Avenue, where observed the suspect acting suspiciously. The officers approached the suspect, conducted a search of his person and found an unlicensed handgun along with a quantity of ammunition. The suspect was subsequently arrested and taken into custody. Investigation continues.

"Bumper" Armed Robbery Ring Suspects Arrests

As a result of excellent "Text Book" police work, three (3) men are in police custody in connection with the recent spree of armed robberies where persons were being 'bumped' in their vehicles and robbed. On Wednesday 19th December 2012, Detectives from the Central Detective Unit acting on information arrested the three suspects and uncovered a number of items in their possession suspected of being stolen during the armed robberies. Investigation is ongoing.

Mobile Division Makes Firearm/Drug Arrest

Four (4) men ages 24, 23 and two ages 21 are in police custody after being arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm, ammunition and dangerous drugs on Wednesday 20th December 2012. According to police reports, around 12:45am officers from the Mobile unit were on "Saturation Patrol" in the yellow Elder Gardens area when they observed the men sitting in a Honda vehicle acting suspiciously. The officers conducted a search of the vehicle and uncovered a handgun and a quantity of ammunition along with a quantity of dangerous drugs. The men were subsequently arrested and taken into police custody. Investigation continues.

SWD Uncovers Firearm

Police uncovered an illegal pistol along with a quantity of ammunition from the rear of a home in Flamingo Gardens on Sunday 16th December, 2012. According to reports around 8:45 am officers of the Southwestern Division acting on information went to the premises where they uncovered the items. No arrests were made. Mobile Division Makes Firearm Arrest

A 30 year old man of Deveaux Street was is in police custody after he was found in possession of an unlicensed firearm. According to reports around 12:35 am on Friday 14th December, 2012 Mobile Officers acting on information from Police Control Room went to a business establishment situated at Wulff Road where they arrested the man. Officers of the Mobile Division also uncovered an illegal pistol in bushes off West Bay Street on Thursday 13th December, 2012. According to reports around 9:55 pm officers acting on information went to Lavelle Road where they uncovered the weapon along with a quantity of ammunition.

Armed Robber Killed. Handgun Recovered

A man is dead after reportedly robbing a business establishment on Palm Tree Avenue on Wednesday 12th December, 2012. According to reports the incident occurred around 6:30 pm at Palm Tree Supermarket, located Palm Tree Avenue and 6th Street, Coconut Grove. Preliminary reports indicate two (2) masked men, both armed with handguns and wearing dark clothing entered the Supermarket and demanded cash. The culprits reportedly robbed the store of an undetermined amount of cash and while leaving fired gunshots at a male, believed to be the proprietor of the store. It is further reported that the male, returned fire which resulted in one of the culprits being fatally shot and his weapon recovered by police. Police are investigating and are appealing to members of the public who may have any information that can assist police in locating the second suspect to contact police. CDU Makes Firearm Arrest

A 30 year old male, believed to be a Jamaican national was arrested after officers conducted a search of a vehicle and discovered an illegal pistol and ammunition. Officers of the Central Detective Unit (CDU) arrested the man around 1:20 am on Monday 12th December, 2012. Preliminary reports indicate that CDU officers were on routine patrol on Sister Maria Rahming Close, Millennium Gardens when they observed two (2) men in a silver Infiniti Jeep, acting suspiciously. Police attempted to stop the vehicle; however, the driver sped off and crashed into a nearby wooden fence. The driver was able to evade police; however, the passenger was apprehended and is assisting police with their investigations. Active police investigations continue.

Police Uncovers High-Powered Weapon

A high powered weapon along with a large quantity of ammunition was uncovered by police on Monday 10th December, 2012. According to reports, around 11:45 pm police received information that a male was robbed of his white 1996 Honda Odyssey van by two (2) men, while in the drive through of a business establishment on Prince Charles Drive. A short time later, police intercepted the van in the Churchill Sub-division; however, the culprits were able to evade police. Police conducted a search of the van and discovered the weapon along with over sixty (60) rounds of ammunition. Police are investigating and are appealing to members of the public who may have any information that can assist police in locating the culprits to contact them at 919, 322-333/4, the CENTRAL DETECTIVE UNIT @ 502-9991, 502-9910 or CRIMESTOPERS @ 328-TIPS.

Mobile Division Makes Firearm Arrest

Four (4) men ages 33, 32, 22 and 19 years are in police custody after being found in possession of a shotgun. Officers of the Mobile Division arrested the men around 7:10 pm on Sunday 9th December, 2012 at Windsor Lane east. Earlier around 3:30 pm officers of the Mobile Division acting on information went to vacant property at Honeycomb Street off Hay Street where nthey uncovered a quantity of suspected Marijuana. No arrests were made. Active police investigations continue.

335 Drivers Cited. 29 Arrested- Operation "BLITZ"

In keeping with the Commissioner of Police 2012 Policing Plan, "Tackling Crime and Enforcing the Rules of the Road", police throughout New Providence conducted operation "BLITZ". The operation was conducted between the hours of 8:00pm on Friday 7th December, 2012 and 5:00 am on Saturday 8th December, 2012 and resulted in three hundred, thirty-five (335) drivers being cited for various traffic infractions and twenty- nine people arrested for various offences. Thirteen (13) people were arrested on outstanding Warrants of Arrests, seven (7) people reference to Dangerous Drugs, four (4) people reference to ammunition, one (1) person for Disorderly Behavior and one (1) person for House-breaking. Additionally, three (3) people were arrested after they were found in possession of a reportedly stolen Honda vehicle.

A 23 year old male of Wilson Track, is in police custody after he was found in possession of an illegal pistol and ammunition. Officers of the Mobile Division arrested the man around 11:10pm on Friday 7th December, 2012 outside a business establishment at Cordeaux Avenue. Active police investigations continue.

Mobile and CDU Uncover Firearms

In two (2) separate incidents police have removed two (2) firearms from the streets of New Providence. The first removal occurred shortly before 6:00 pm on Wednesday 5th December, 2012. According to reports officers of the Central Detective Unit acting on information went to the rear of a church on Palm Beach Street off Cordeaux Avenue where they discovered an illegal pistol with ammunition. The second removal occurred around 12:25 am on Thursday 6th November, 2012. Preliminary reports indicate that officers of the Mobile Division acting on information from Police Control Room went to Windsor Lane off East Street where they discovered a shotgun along with a quantity of shotgun shells and suspected stolen watches. No arrests were made in connection with either incident. Active police investigations continue.

SWD Makes Firearm Arrest

Four (4) males, ages 44, 40, 35 and 31 years are in police custody after being found in possession of an unlicensed shotgun. Officers of the Southwestern Division arrested the men shortly before 8:00 pm on Sunday 2nd December, 2012 at Carmichael Road. The men are residents of Cowpen and Carmichael Roads. Active police investigations continue.

Mobile Division Uncovers Firearm

Police uncovered a 12 gauge shotgun along with a quantity of suspected marijuana in bushes at Churchill Subdivision on Sunday 2nd December, 2012. Preliminary reports indicate that around 6:40 pm officers of the Mobile Division acting information went to the area, located off Soldier Road where they uncovered the items. No arrests were made in connection with the discovery. Active police investigations continue.

Mobile Division Uncovers Firearm

Officers of the Mobile Division uncovered a handgun in bushes at Montell Heights on Sunday 2nd December, 2012. According to reports around 12:10 am officers were on routine patrol on Robinson Road when they observed two (2) males riding a moped acting suspiciously. Officers attempted to stop the males; however, they sped off. Police pursued the men and observed the passenger throw an object into nearby bushes. The men evaded police; however a check of the bushes revealed a handgun. Active police investigations continue.

SWD Makes Firearm Arrest

Two (2) teen boys, both age 17 years and residents of Pinewood Gardens are in police custody after officers conducted a search of their gray Monte Carlo vehicle and discovered a handgun and ammunition. Officers of the Southwestern Division arrested the teenagers around 5:25 pm on Saturday 2nd December, 2012 at the intersection of Carmichael Road and Faith Avenue. Police arrested a 24 year old male of Vesey Street after he was found in possession of an imitation firearm. Officers of the Mobile Division arrested the man around 8:00 pm on Thursday 29th November, 2012 at Glinton Square off Lewis Street. Active police investigations continue.

CDU Makes Firearm Arrest & Body Found

The decomposed body of a male was discovered in bushes off Marshall Road on Wednesday 28th November, 2012. Preliminary reports indicate that around 11:20 am officers of the Central Detective Unit (CDU) were on routine patrol in Pinewood Gardens when they arrested a 32 year old male with a handgun and ammunition. Acting on information, the officers proceeded to a bushy area in Tranquil Circle, off Marshall Road, where they discovered the remains. Active police investigations continue.

Central & Mobile Division Makes Firearm Arrest

In two (2) separate incidents, police have removed two (2) firearms from the streets of New Providence. In the first incident, a 20 year old male of Skyline Drive was arrested after he was found in possession of a high powered weapon and a large quantity of ammunition. Officers of the Central Division arrested the man around 6:30 pm on Friday 23rd November, 2012 after conducting a search of his white 2007 Ford Explorer while in the area of Granger and Dunmore Streets. In the second incident officers of the Mobile Division and the K-9 Unit arrested a 16 year old teen boy of Masons Addition after he was found in possession of a handgun. Preliminary reports indicate that shortly before 11:00 pm on Saturday 24th November, 2012 officers were on routine patrol on Wulff Road in the area of Smithís Lane when they observed two (2) males acting suspiciously. It is reported that the males on seeing the officers ran and was observed throwing an object into nearby bushes. The males were pursued which resulted in the 16 year old being caught; however, the second male was able to evade police. Officers conducted a search of the bushes and discovered the weapon. Active police investigations continue.

Central Division Makes Firearm Arrest

A 22-year old man of Carmichael Road is in police custody after he was arrested by officers from the Central Division for possession of an unlicensed firearm and a quantity of ammunition on Wednesday 21st November 2012. According to reports around 10:20pm officers from the Central Division were on mobile patrol in the Dumping Ground Corner area when they observed a male suspect acting suspiciously. The suspect on seeing the officers fled on foot. After a small foot chase the officers arrested the suspect who had a handgun along with a quantity of ammunition in his possession. Active police investigations continue.

Officers of the RBPF Enforcer Unit uncovered a handgun on Tuesday 20th November 2012. According to reports shortly after 1:00pm officers acting on information went to an abandoned building located at Market Street and Cordeaux Avenue where they uncovered the weapon. Police Uncovers Two Firearms

In the first incident, a Shotgun along with a quantity of ammunition was uncovered by officers of the Mobile Division on Monday 19th November, 2012. According to reports around 6:00am officers acting on information went to an abandoned building located at Coconut Grove Avenue and Eight Street where they uncovered the weapon. No arrests were made. Active police investigations continue. In the second incident, around 10:45 pm on Monday 19th November, 2012 Police acting on information went to Beuford Avenue Stapleton Gardens where they uncovered a handgun. No arrests were made. Central Division Makes Firearm Arrest

Police arrested a 23 year old male of Lincoln Boulevard after he was found in possession of an imitation firearm, a flashlight and two (2) screw drivers. Officers of the Central Division arrested the man around shortly after 5:00 am on Sunday 18th November, 2012 at East Bay & Armstrong Streets. Moments later, Central Division officers acting on information went to a property at 3rd Street, Coconut Grove where they discovered a quantity of suspected marijuana inside a garbage bin. No arrests were made. Active police investigations continue.

SET Makes Firearm Arrest

Three (3) men ages 30, 26 and 25 years are in police custody after being found in possession of an illegal pistol. Officers of the Selective Enforcement Team (SET) arrested the men around 12:15 am on Sunday 18th November, 2012. Preliminary reports indicate that officers were at Celery Drive, Yellow Elder when they observed the men acting suspiciously. Two (2) of the suspects were arrested in Yellow Elder; however, the third male evaded police and was subsequently arrested a short time later at Palmetto Avenue off Baillou Hill Road. The men are residents of Montell Heights, Nassau Village and Poinciana Ave off Baillou Hill Road. Active police investigations continue.

CDU Uncovers Firearm

Officers of the Central Detective Unit uncovered an illegal pistol on Augusta Street on Monday 12th November, 2012. Preliminary reports indicate that around 1:00 am officers were on routine patrol when they observed a dark male, wearing dark clothing acting suspiciously. It is reported that the male on seeing the officers ran and was observed throwing an object into nearby bushes. Officers conducted a search of the bushes where the object was thrown and discovered the weapon.

$75K Drug Bust at LPIA

A twenty-eight (28) year old male of Antioquia Columbia was arrested after he was found in possession of five (5) kilos of suspected Cocaine. Officers of the Airport Police Station arrested the man shortly after 6:00 pm on Friday 9th November, 2012 in the US Departure Lounge, at the Lynden Pindling International Airport. The drugs weighed an estimated twelve (12) pounds and have an estimated street value of seventy-five thousand ($75,000.00) dollars. Active police investigations continue.

Bimini Police Makes Firearm Arrest

On Friday 9th November 2012 around 8:00am, a team of officers from the Bimini Division along with Officers from Drug Enforcement Unit arrested seven persons for various offences namely; Murder, Harboring a Criminal and Possession of Firearms. The Firearms discovered were (1) black .40 Glock pistol, (1) Herstal pistol with extended magazine loaded with 5.7 rounds of ammunition and also a .40 hollow tip magazine. Officers also arrested one person in connection with the 2,300lbs drug seizure that occurred on 2nd November 2012. All suspects were transported to New Providence. Police are actively investigating all matters.

Mobile Division Makes Firearm Arrest

A fifteen (15) year old teen girl and her fifty (50) year old father are in police custody after being found in possession of two (2) illegal pistols and a large quantity of ammunition and suspected marijuana. Preliminary reports indicate that around 12:20 pm on Saturday 10th November, 2012 officers of the Mobile Division executed a search warrant on an apartment at Kim's Crescent off Baillou Hill Road, where they uncovered the items. The drugs weighed an estimated two (2) pounds and have an estimated street value of two thousand ($2,000.00) dollars. Active police investigations continue.

Central Division Makes Firearm Arrest

Three (3) males were arrested after they were found in possession of an unlicensed shotgun and a quantity of shotgun shells. Officers of the Central Division arrested the men shortly after 6:00 am on Thursday 8th November, 2012 at Polehemus Street. Active police investigations continue.

Central Division Makes Drug and Firearm Arrest

On Monday 5th November, 2012 around 4:15 am officers of the Central Division arrested a 25 year old male of Bimini Avenue and a 24 year old female after they were found in possession of a large quantity of suspected marijuana and a high powered weapon. The suspected marijuana weighed fifteen (15) pounds and has an estimated street value of fifteen thousand ($15,000.00) dollars. Active police investigations continue.

A 25 year old male of Bimini Avenue and a 24 year old female of Rock Crusher were arrested after they were found in possession of a large quantity of suspected marijuana and a high powered weapon. Officers of the Central Division arrested the two (2) around 4:15 am on Monday 5th November, 2012 at Poinciana Avenue off Market Street. Active police investigations continue.

A 32 year old male of Hospital Lane was arrested after he was found in possession of an illegal pistol. Officers of the Central Division arrested the man around 11:25 pm on Saturday 3rd November, 2012 at the intersection of Meadow Street and Hospital Lane. Active police investigations continue.

Mobile Division Arrests 11 For Stolen Vehicles

In four (4) separate incidents officers of the Mobile Division arrested eleven (11) men after they were found in possession of suspected stolen vehicles. In the first incident a 21 year old male of Faith Avenue was arrested after he was found in possession of a reportedly stolen Nissan Sentra. Officers of the Mobile Division arrested the man around 11:10 pm on Wednesday 31st October, 2012 at 2nd Street and Palm Tree Avenue. In the second incident a 27 year old of Carmichael Road was arrested after he was found in possession of a reportedly stolen 1999 Honda Saber. In the third incident a 40 year old male of Forbes Street, Nassau Village was arrested after he was found in possession of a reportedly stolen 1999 Nissan Sentra. In the fourth (4) incident around 3:20 am on Friday 2nd November, 2012 Mobile Officers arrested a 23 year old male of Spice Street, along with five (5) other males after they were found in possession of five (5) reportedly stolen Honda vehicles. According to reports Mobile Officers were on routine patrol in the area of Bethel Avenue and Tonique Williams Darling Highway when they observed two (2) men in a white Honda Civic acting suspiciously. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle; however, the driver sped off. A pursuit ensued and the vehicle was eventually intercepted at Canada Avenue off Carmichael Road where the occupants were arrested. Acting on information officers proceeded to a home on Canada Avenue where they uncovered five (5) reportedly stolen Honda vehicles and subsequently arrested the additional males.

Central Division Makes Firearm Arrest

A 25 year old male of Dunmore Street was arrested after he was found in possession of an illegal pistol and a quantity of ammunition. Officers of the Central Division arrested the man around 9:30 pm on Wednesday 31st October, 2012 at Cambridge and West Streets. Active police investigations continue.

Police Arrests Murder Suspect

Police are questioning five (5) males, ages 28, 22, 19 and two age 18 years, in connection with the death of 40 year old DAMIEN COLLIE of Nassau Village, formerly of Long Cay. According to police reports around 1:00 am on Sunday 28th October, 2012 the deceased was standing outside a business establishment on Soldier Road and Haven Sub-division when a male ran in his direction, pursued by a group of males. It is reported that one of the males struck the deceased to the head with an object which resulted in his death. The male that was being pursued was stabbed during the incident and taken to hospital where he was treated and discharged. Mobile Makes Firearm Arrest

A 33 year old male of Seven Hills Drive was taken into custody after he was found in possession of a quantity of suspected marijuana and a large quantity of cash believed to be proceeds from the sale of drugs. Officers of the Mobile Division arrested the man, who was also wanted on six (6) outstanding Warrants of Apprehension around 9:50 pm on Tuesday 30th October, 2012. Additionally, Mobile Officers arrested six (6) other people on outstanding Warrants of Apprehension and one (1) person for Damage and Trespassing. Active police investigations continue.

GB Police Makes Firearm Arrest

On Sunday 28th October 2012, around 4:20am Officers from Night Hawk special duty patrol, while in the area of East Atlantic Drive and East Beach Drive observed a white 2004 Hyundai Sante Fe that ran a red light. Officers gave chase and observed the driver of the vehicle throwing an object out of its window. The vehicle was stopped and the occupant searched. Police recovered eleven thousand one hundred and seventy dollars $11,170.00 in cash. The male driver of the vehicle was then taken back to the area where the object was thrown and recovered a chrome and black .380 pistol with six (6) live rounds of ammunition. The male driver was arrested and then taken into custody.

DEU Uncovers Firearm and Ammunition

Officers of the Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) uncovered a handgun along with a quantity of ammunition from a bushy area at Wilson Tract on Sunday 28th October, 2012. Initial police reports indicate that around 7:30 pm DEU officers acting on information proceeded to Wilson Tract where they observed a male acting suspiciously. It is reported that the male on seeing the officers fled into the nearby bushes and evaded police. Police conducted a search of the bushes and uncovered the items. Officers of the Northeastern Division uncovered an illegal pistol in bushes at Soldier and Old Trail Roads on Saturday 27th October, 2012. Murder Suspect Arrested

Police are questioning a 30 year old male of Oodle Corner off East Street in connection with the death of a 76 year old female of Eneas Street. The incident reportedly occurred around 8:30 pm on Thursday 25th October, 2012. Preliminary reports indicate that the female was at her residence along with family members, when noises which sounded like firecrackers were heard in the area of the deceased bedroom. Officers of the Mobile Division arrested the male around 7:55 am on Saturday 27th October, 2012 at a home on Fleming Street. Active police investigations continue.

SWD Makes Firearm Arrest

A 21 year old male of Carmichael Road is in police custody after being found in possession of an illegal pistol. Preliminary reports indicate that around 6:40 am on Saturday 27th October, 2012 officers of the Southwestern Division executed a search warrant on the suspect's home and discovered the weapon. To date police have confiscated four hundred and nine (409) firearms along with five thousand, five hundred and fifty-three (5953) rounds of ammunition.

Armed Robbery Suspects Caught with Firearm

Police arrested an 18 year old male of Rugby Drive, Winton Meadows after he was found in possession of an illegal pistol and ammunition. Preliminary reports indicate that around 1:30 am on Friday 19th October, 2012 police received information that a female was robbed of her handbag by a male allegedly armed with a handgun, while at Market Street and Gaol Alley. Police responded and acting on information arrested the suspect in the area of Baillou Hill Road and Cockburn Street. Active police investigations continue.

DEU Makes $20k Drug Bust

A 28 year old male and a 25 year old female were arrested after they were found in possession of a large quantity of suspected Marijuana. Drug Enforcement Officers arrested the two (2) shortly after 7:00 am on Wednesday 17th October, 2012 at a home in Blair Estates. Preliminary reports indicate that DEU officers acting on information executed a search warrant on the residence located Tuckaway Road and confiscated seven (7) pounds of suspected marijuana; additionally, the officers confiscated over seventy (70) Marijuana plants ranging in height from six (6) inches to seven (7) feet. The drugs have an estimated street value of twenty thousand ($20,000.00) dollars. Active police investigations continue.

A 24 year old male of Montel Heights is in police custody after he was found in possession of a handgun and ammunition. DEU Uncovers 3 Handguns

Three (3) handguns along with a large quantity of ammunition were confiscated by officers of the Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) on Monday 8th October, 2012 from bushes north of West Dennis Court, Yellow Elder Gardens. According to reports around 10:00 pm DEU officers acting on information went to the area where they discovered the items. No arrests were made in connection with this incident. To date police have confiscated four hundred and two (402) firearms along with six thousand, twenty-one (6021) rounds of ammunition.

SET Makes Firearm Arrest

A 19-year old male is in police custody after police arrested him for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition on Saturday 6th October 2012. According to police reports, around 5:45pm Selective Enforcer Team Officers were on routine patrol on Fox Hill Road when they observed the male suspect acting suspiciously. The male on seeing the offices fled on foot and dropped an object from his waist. After a short foot chase the officers arrested the male and discovered the object to be a handgun along with ammunition. Investigation continues.

Police Seize Firearm

According to police reports, around 7:30pm on Saturday 6th October 2012, police officers were on mobile patrol on Ida Street when they observed a male sitting in a Honda Accord vehicle acting suspiciously. The male on seeing the police alighted from the vehicle and fled on foot. The Officers pursued the suspect but was unable to capture him. However, the officers uncovered a handgun that dropped from the suspect's waist. Investigation continues.

Homicide Suspect Arrested With Firearm

A 49-year old male and a 21-year old male of Pinewood Gardens is in Custody assisting police with their investigations into the countryís latest murder that occurred on Saturday 6th October 2012. According to police reports, shortly before 10:00am three men were involved in an argument at St. Luke's Avenue and Buttonwood Street, Pinewood Gardens resulting in one of the men being fatally shot to the head and the other shot in the shoulder. The man who was shot in the arm was taken to hospital via EMS where he is detained in serious condition. Moments afterwards police arrested the 49-year old male in the area in connection with this matter. Police also arrested the 19-year old in connection with this matter after they found him in possession of a handgun. Police are actively investigating this matter.

SET Makes Firearm Arrest

Two 22-year old males of New Providence are in police custody after they were arrested for firearm possession on Saturday 6th October 2012. Police reports indicate, that around 3:00am officers from the Selective Enforcer Team were on routine patrol on Mckinney Drive off Fire Trail Road, when they heard gunshots being discharged from a white explorer vehicle. The officers pursued the vehicle occupied by the two males and brought it to a stop. The officers then conducted a searched of the vehicle and uncovered a handgun. The two male suspects were subsequently arrested and taken into custody Investigation continues.

Abaco Police Makes Firearm Arrest

On Tuesday 2nd October 2012 around 5:45pm, Officers in Abaco executed a search warrant on an apartment in Forrest Drive, Abaco and discovered a black and silver handle handgun and a small quantity of suspected marijuana. Three males that occupy the apartment were taken into custody in connection with this matter. Police are investigating this matter.

SWD Arrests Armed Robbery Suspects

Police are questioning an 18 year old male of Yamacraw Estates and a 17 year old juvenile male of Elizabeth Estates in connection with an armed robbery which occurred on Friday 28th September, 2012. According to reports around 2:20 pm the males robbed two (2) passengers along with the driver of a bus, which was traveling west along Carmichael Road of an undetermined amount of cash. Officers of the Southwestern Division (Carmichael Road Police Station) arrested the males a short time after the incident in the area Allen Drive off Carmichael Road with the stolen property. Officers of the Mobile Division confiscated over fifteen (15) rounds of ammunition from a property at Lincoln Boulevard on Sunday 30th September, 2012. Preliminary reports indicate that shortly before 2:00 am officers were on routine patrol in the area of the tire shop when they observed a group of males acting suspiciously. Police Confiscates 3 Firearms

In three (3) separate incidents police have removed three (3) firearms along with a quantity ammunition from the streets of New Providence. The first removal was around 10:35 pm on Wednesday 26th September, 2012 by officers of the Internal Security Division. Preliminary reports indicate that officers were responding to an armed robbery complaint when they made a check at the rear of an establishment on Soldier Road and uncovered a shotgun along with a quantity of shotgun shells. In the second incident, officers of the Southwestern Division (Carmichael Road Police Station) uncovered a handgun, along with a quantity of ammunition from a track road off Carmichael Road on Thursday 27th September, 2012. According to police reports around 9:45 am officers were on routine patrol at Millerís Heights, in the area of the basketball court when they observed a tall slim male acting suspiciously. It is reported that the male on seeing the officers fled through the nearby track road, where he dropped the weapon and evaded police. In the third incident officers of the Northeastern Division confiscated a handgun along with a quantity of ammunition from a park at Williams Lane off Kemp Road. Preliminary reports indicate that around 12:40 pm on Thursday 27th September, 2012 officers acting on information went to the park where they observed a group of males acting suspiciously. It is reported that the males on seeing the officers fled the area. Officers conducted a search of the area where the men were and discovered the items. To date, police have confiscated three hundred and eighty-five (385) firearms along with over six thousand rounds of ammunition.

GB Police Uncovers Firearm

On Thursday 27th September 2012 at 4:00am, Officers of special duty Night Hawk, while on patrol in an area off East Sunrise Highway saw a male in a vehicle acting suspicious. Officers approached the vehicle at which time the male fled. Officers then made check of the vehicle and discovered and confiscated an Astra Model A-90 .45 pistol with a magazine containing six .45 rounds of ammunition.The suspect in this matter is still at large. Police are actively investigating this matter.

A handgun along with a quantity of suspected marijuana was confiscated by police around 5:00 am on Friday 28th September, 2012. Preliminary reports indicate that officers from the Central Detective Unit (CDU) were on routine patrol on Deveaux Street off East Street when they observed a male acting suspiciously. It is reported that the culprit on seeing the officers fled the area and evaded police. Police arrested a 25 year old female of Bradley Street off Carmichael Road after she was found in possession of six (6) pounds of suspected Cocaine. Upon their arrival, the officers saw a suspicious male standing in front of a vehicle. The male on seeing the officers threw and object into the vehicle and fled on foot. SET Arrests Juvenile Moments After Robbery

A 17-year old male and a 15-year old male are in custody, after police arrested them for armed robbery and possession of an unlicensed firearm on Saturday 8th September 2012. Police reports indicate, around 8:30pm the victim had just arrived at her Bellot Road residence, when a male suspect armed with a handgun approached her and robbed her of cash and two (2) cell phones. On Wednesday 5th September 2012, police arrested a 21-year old manafter he was found in Possession of an Unlicensed Firearm and ammunition. Police reports indicate, that around 4:00pm Drug Enforcement Unit Officers were on patrol in the Montel Heights area, where they observed the suspect acting suspiciously. The suspect on seeing the officers dropped a handgun to the ground and attempted to walk away. The officers retrieved the handgun along with a quantity of ammunition from the ground. The suspect was subsequently arrested and taken into custody.

The officers conducted a search of a bag the suspect was carrying and found a sawed off shotgun along with quantity of suspected marijuana. On Friday August 31st 2012 at about 9:00am, police control room in Grand Bahama received information concerning a fight between two men. GB Police Makes Firearm Arrest

Police at the Eight Mile Rock Police Station are reporting a firearm arrest. On Friday 31st August 2012, sometime around 3:20am, Officers on mobile patrol from the Eight Mile Rock Division observed a male in a business establishment who was acting suspiciously, upon closer examination they observed what appeared to be a firearm fell from his waist. Officers arrested the suspect and recovered a black Glock point 40 pistol with one magazine containing seven live rounds of point 40 ammunition. The suspect was arrested and is in police custody.

Three males, two 25 years old and a 24 year old are custody after they were arrested by police for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition on Wednesday 29th August 2012. According to police reports, shortly after at 6:00pm officers of the mobile unit were on routine mobile in the Goodman's Bay area when they observed a green four-door Honda Accord car with three (3) male acting suspiciously. The officers brought the vehicle to a stop and whilst conducting a search of the vehicle, uncovered a handgun with a quantity of ammunition. SEC Makes Firearm Arrest

A 30-year old male and 22-year old woman is in police custody after they were arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition on Tuesday 28th August 2012. According to police reports, around 10:45pm officers from the Selective Enforcement Team executed a search warrant at a residence located at #15 Sheila Frazier Way, Mount Tabor Estates and uncovered a handgun along with a quantity of ammunition. The 30-year old male and 22-year old woman were subsequently arrested and are assisting police with their investigations into this matter.

Police Confiscates Two Firearms

Police have confiscated two (2) firearms and quantity of ammunition in separate incidents on Friday 24th August 2012. The first incident occurred shortly after 8:30pm on Friday 24th August 2012. Police reports indicate, that shortly after 8:30pm, Southern Division Officers acting on information went to a residence located on Quakoo Street, where they uncovered a handgun along with a quantity of ammunition. Police have arrested a 34-year old male of Quakoo Street, in connection with this matter. The second incident occurred around 10:00pm on Friday 24th August 2012. According to police reports, around 10:00pm, Police acting on information went to a building complex located on Nassau Street, where they uncovered the weapon along with a quantity of ammunition. Officers of the Selective Enforcement Team (SET) confiscated a handgun with ammunition along with a quantity of suspected marijuana from a property at Kennedy Sub-division. Preliminary reports indicate that around 10:00 pm on Saturday 4th August, 2012 officers executed a search warrant on a property at Lilyway, Golden Palm Estates where they discovered the items. According to police reports around 9:41 pm on Wednesday 01st August, 2012 officers of the Mobile Division acting on information conducted a search of a property at Montel Heights and uncovered a shotgun. Bimini Police Arrests Men For Firearm and Ammunition

It was on Monday 30th July, 2012 at 5:00pm when a team of officers from the Royal Bahamas Defense Force along with an officer from the Fisheries Department handed over three American adult males of Florida to the police in Bimini. The suspects were arrested after their vessel, a 28ft Mako Go-Fast fishing vessel with a T-Top and two black and white Mercury 300HP engines was boarded for a routine check in Bahamian waters just off North Bimini. During the inspection the suspects were found to be in breach of the Fisheries Act and they were not cleared by the Bahamas Customs Department. A further search of the vessel led to the discovery of a pistol and a quantity of ammunitions. Police in Bimini are continuing their investigations into this matter and the three men are expected to be transported to New Providence to be arraigned in the Firearmís Court on relevant charges. We commend the vigilant officers of the Royal Bahamas Defense Force and Fisheries Department as they continue to protect our borders.

In three (3) separate incidents on Monday 30th July, 2012 police have removed three (3) handguns and a bullet proof vest from the streets of New Providence. In the first incident around 2:00 pm police acting on information conducted a search of an abandoned building on Hay Street off Market Street where they uncovered a handgun along with a quantity of ammunition. In the second incident officers of the Mobile Division arrested three (3) men after they were found in possession of a handgun and a bullet proof vest. Preliminary reports indicate that around 6:00 pm officers of the Mobile Division were on routine patrol at Sunset Park when they observed the occupants of a silver and black Honda Civic acting suspiciously. The vehicle was stopped and search and the items subsequently confiscated by police. In the third incident around 10:00 pm on Monday 30th July, 2012 Mobile Officers uncovered a handgun at Wellington Street off Baillou Hill Road. According to reports officers were on routine patrol when they observed two (2) men acting suspiciously. It is reported that the males on seeing the officers fled. Officers conducted a search where the men were and discovered a handgun. Active police investigations continue.

5lbs of Marijuana Seized

A 47 year old male of Pinewood Gardens is in police custody after being found in possession of a large quantity of suspected marijuana. Initial police reports indicate that around 4:15 pm on Monday 30th July, 2012 officers of the Central Detective Unit (CDU) were on routine patrol on 1st Street and Palm Tree Avenue when they observed the driver of a silver Honda Accord acting suspiciously. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle however the driver sped off at a high rate of speed. Officers pursued the vehicle and intercepted it in the area of 3rd Street and Poinciana Drive after the driver collided into a van. A search of the van revealed five (5) pounds of suspected marijuana which has an estimated street value of five thousand ($5,000.00) dollars. Active police investigations continue.

Firearm Recovered During Robbery

An imitation firearm was handed over to police after an attempted armed robbery at a business establishment in Nassau Village. The incident reportedly occurred around 9:30 pm on Saturday 14th July, 2012. According to police reports a male wearing a red sweater, allegedly armed with a handgun entered a business establishment on Alexandria Boulevard and demanded cash. It is reported that as the culprit attempted to leave the store he got into a struggle with an employee of the store, which resulted in the culprit being disarmed and the monies taken away from him. In keeping with the Commissioner 2012 policing plan, "Tackling Crime & Allaying the Fear of Crime", police continue to remove illegal firearms from the streets of New Providence. The most recent removal occurred around 4:44 pm on Wednesday 4th July, 2012. Preliminary police reports indicate that officers of the Mobile Division acting on information conducted a search of bushes at Sears Hill Road where they uncovered a high powered weapon. To date police have removed three hundred and one (301) firearms, along with four thousand, four hundred and thirteen (4,413) rounds of ammunition from throughout the Bahamas.

Man Arrested at LPIA With 15K Suspected Cocaine

A 25 year old man of Winton Meadows is in police custody after being found in possession of fifteen (15) kilos of suspected cocaine. Preliminary police reports indicate that around 4:15 pm on Wednesday 04th July, 2012 officers of the Airport Police Station acting on information from U.S. Customs & Border Protection personnel, conducted a search of a commercial aircraft and discovered the drugs inside a suitcase. The drugs have an estimated weight of forty (40) pounds and an estimated street value of two hundred and forty thousand ($240,000.00) dollars. Active police investigations continue.

Preliminary reports indicate that around 2:30 pm on Sunday 01st July, 2012 officers of the Mobile Division acting on information conducted a search of a residence at Crawford Street and discovered the items. GB Police Makes Firearm and Drugs Arrest

It was during the late afternoon today, Monday 25th June, 2012 at 5:50pm, when a team of officers from the Central Detective went to a residence on Bayshore Road in the Midshipman The search revealed a .9mm pistol and a large quantity of ammunitions along with a small quantity of suspected marijuana in the house where four adults (two males/2 females) ages 36, 43, 46 and 61 years were arrested for possession of unlicensed firearm, ammunition and dangerous drugs. The suspects along with the firearm, ammunitions and drugs were taken into police custody. The suspects are expected to be transported to New Providence where they will be arraigned in Magistrate's Court No.9 in regards to the firearm and ammunitions. Meanwhile, investigations are continuing into this matter.

GB Police Arrests Couple for Firearm and Drugs

This evening, Monday 25th June, 2012, a 55 year old male and a female age 46 years, both residents of Privateer Lane in the Midshipman Road area, are in police custody after being arrested for possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunitions earlier this afternoon. It was 1:15pm on Monday 25th June, 2012, when a team of officers from the Central Detective Unit here on the island of Grand Bahama executed a search warrant at the suspect's premises, where the officers recovered a handgun along with a quantity of ammunitions from their vehicle. The discovery led to the arrest of the suspects as aforementioned and they were taken into police custody along with the weapon and ammunitions. Investigations are continuing and the suspects are expected to be transported to New Providence to be arraigned in Magistrate's Court No.9 for related firearm charges.

Bimini Police Makes Firearm and Drugs Arrest

At 12:30pm this afternoon, Monday 25th June, 2012, a team of police officers on the island of Bimini were armed with a search warrant which was executed on a residence in North Bimini that resulted in the arrest of four Bahamian males ages: 23, 24, 25 and 34 years; three are residents of Bimini and the fourth is a resident of Freeport, Grand Bahama. The officers were conducting a search of the residence when they discovered a handgun, a magazine and a quantity of ammunitions along with a small quantity of suspected marijuana. The suspects along with the firearm, ammunitions and drugs were taken into police custody. Investigations are continuing in this matter and relevant charges are expected to be filed against the accused persons in the Firearms Court in New Providence (Magistrate's Court No.9) by mid-week.

Eight Mile Rock Police Uncovers Firearm

Officers at the Central Detective Unit on Grand Bahama Island are continuing their investigations into the recovery of a pistol in the Eight Mile Rock area yesterday morning, Monday 18th June, 2012. At 9:50 am on the aforementioned date, officers from the Eight Mile Rock Division were conducting enquiries just off Bayshore Road in the Bartlett Hill community when they discovered a 9mm pistol with an empty magazine. No arrest was made in this matter. The weapon was taken into police custody and the investigations are continuing.

In the second incident officers of the Mobile Division arrested a 22 year old man of Podoleo Street after he was found in possession of a shotgun, shotgun shells and a stolen vehicle. Preliminary reports indicate that around 11:30 am officers of the Mobile Division were on routine patrol on Lincoln Boulevard when they observed the male driving a champagne Honda Accord, with no license disc and no front license plate attached. According to police reports around 2:10 pm on Monday 11th June, 2012 officers of the Central Detective Unit (CDU) executed a search warrant on a home at Toote Shop Corner off East Street where they uncovered three (3) handguns along with a large quantity of ammunition and drugs. The suspected marijuana weighed 13.7 ounces and has an estimated street value of eight hundred and fifty-seven ($857.00) dollars. The occupant of the home, a 27 year old male was taken into custody. On Monday 11th June 2012 at around 2:45 pm officers of the Central Intelligence Bureau (CIB) acting on information went to St. Barnabas Cemetery, Moore Avenue where they discovered a handgun. Man Arrested in Eight Mile Rock for Firearm and Ammunition

It was last evening, Sunday 10th June, 2012 at approximately 8:45pm when officers from the Eight Mile Rock Police Station were on foot patrol in the area of Sunset Village near the Police Station, conducting a routine check of the area, when they observed a male acting in a suspicious manner and he was approached by the officers. They conducted a search of his person and then of his car, where the officers discovered a black pistol with (6) live rounds of ammunition. The man, a 36 year old resident of Martin Hill, Eight Mile Rock was arrested and taken into Police custody along with the weapon and ammunitions. Investigations are continuing into this matter by officers at the Central Detective Unit and suspect is expected to be arraigned in the Magistrate's Court in Eight Mile Rock on Tuesday 12th June, 2012.

Mobile Division Removes Three Guns From Streets

POLICE CONTINUE TO CONFISCATE FIREARMS
In three (3) separate incidents, officers of the Mobile Division have removed three (3) handguns along with a quantity of ammunition from the streets of New Providence. In the first incident around11:20 pm on Friday 01st June, 2012 officers of the Mobile Division acting on information conducted a search of a residence at Cox Way off East Street where they uncovered a flare gun. Three (3) people, two males age 26 and 24 years and a 28 year old female, all occupants of the home were taken into custody.

The second weapon was confiscated around 3:50 am on Saturday 01st June, 2012. Initial police reports indicate that officers from the Mobile Division were on routine patrol on East Street, south of Malcolm Road when they observed a male wearing dark clothing acting suspiciously. It is reported that the culprit on seeing the officers fled. Officers pursued the culprit and subsequently arrested him after he was found in possession of handgun and ammunition.

The third (3) weapon was confiscated at 4:30 am on Saturday 02nd June, 2012. Preliminary reports indicate that officers from the Mobile Division were on routine patrol on Wulff Road, west of Claridge Road when they observed two (2) men in a SD vehicle acting suspiciously. Officers conducted a search of the vehicle and discovered a handgun along with a quantity of ammunition.

Three Handguns Taken off Streets

POLICE REMOVE THREE (3) HANDGUNS FROM THE STREETS OF NEW PROVIDENCE
In three (3) separate incidents on Wednesday 16th May, 2012 police removed three (3) handguns from the streets of New Providence. The first weapon was confiscated around 6:15 pm at Market and Taylor Streets by officers of the Central Detective Unit (CDU) acting on information from Police Control Room. No arrests were made.

In the second incident, three (3) men along with a juvenile male were taken into custody after they were found in possession of a handgun. Officers of the Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) arrested the men around 7:15 pm at Mason's Addition.

In the third incident a 39 year old male of Strachanís Corner was arrested after he was found in possession of a handgun and ammunition. Officers of Rapid Strike arrested the man around 10:20 pm at Hutchinson Street off Poinciana Drive. Active police investigations into all matters continue.

GB DEU Uncovers Firearm

It was late last evening, approximately 9:20pm on Tuesday 8th May 2012, when officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit were in the Fawcett Lane area here in Freeport where they recovered a handgun in a dilapidated house situated on the eastern side of the road in bushes during a routine check. The weapon was taken into police custody and investigations are continuing by the Drug Enforcement Unit along with officers from the Central Detective Unit. No arrest had been made in relation to this found weapon.

A 32 year old male and a 20 year old female are in police custody after being found in possession of a large quantity of suspected marijuana. The two (2) were arrested around 4:30 pm on Friday 4th May, 2012 after DEU officers executed a search warrant on a residence at Abbie's Close off Carmichael Road and discovered the drugs. In two (2) separate incidents police have removed two (2) firearms from the streets of New Providence. In the first incident officers of the Southwestern Division arrested two (2) men after they were found in possession of a shotgun. The men, ages 30 and 37 years, were arrested around 10:45 pm on Thursday 3rd May, 2012 in the area of the Faith Avenue and Carmichael Road. In the second incident shortly before 1:00 am on Friday 4th May, 2012 officers of the Southern Division arrested an 18 year old male of Taylor Street, off East Street after he was found in possession of a handgun and ammunition. 6 Arrested. Handgun and Ammunition Recovered

Six (6) men, ages 43, 36 and 30 years along with three age 32 years, are in police custody after officers of the Drug Enforcement Unit conducted a search of a home at Guanahani Circle, West Bay Street and discovered a quantity of suspected marijuana and a large amount of Bahamian counterfeit bills. Initial police reports indicate that around 7:00pm on Tuesday 01st May, 2012 DEU officers acting on information went to the residence where they confronted the men. It is reported that during the confrontation one of the men, age 30 years, produced a handgun and was subsequently shot by police. The suspect was taken to hospital via EMS personnel where he was treated and discharged; however, he remains in police custody. Police recovered from the suspect a handgun along with a quantity of ammunition.

A 39 year old male of Freeport is in Police custody this evening after he was arrested in the Fawcett Lane area of Freeport shortly before 7:00am this morning, Saturday 28th April, 2012. Vigilant officers from the Mobile Patrol Division were on mobile patrol in the Fawcett Lane when a vehicle driven by the suspect was searched by police which led to the recovery of a handgun along with a quantity of ammunitions. In two (2) separate incidents police have removed a total of four hundred and seven (407) pounds of drugs from the streets of New Providence. According to police reports shortly after 9:00 pm on Saturday 31st March, 2012 officers of the Drug Enforcement Unit acting on information conducted a search of a cream 2004 Cadillac Escalade at Twynam Heights off Prince Charles Drive where they discovered thirty-three (33) kilos of suspected cocaine along with a large quantity of cash. The drugs weighed seventy-two (72) pounds and have an estimated street value of five hundred and twenty-eight thousand ($528,000.00) dollars. As a result four men ages 53, 32, 30 and 25 years were taken into custody. In the second incident officers of the Mobile Division arrested a 37 year old male of Lucky Hart Corner after he was found in possession of a large quantity of suspected marijuana. Preliminary police reports indicate that around 9:10 pm on Saturday 31st March, 2012 officers of the Mobile Division were on routine patrol on Marshall Road when they observed the driver of a white Chevy GMC van acting suspiciously. Officers conducted a search of the van and discovered a large quantity of suspected marijuana. The drugs weighed three hundred and thirty-five (335) pounds and have an estimated street value of three hundred and thirty-five thousand ($335,000.00) dollars. Police are questioning two (2) men, ages 23 and 21 years of Brougham Street, in connection with an armed robbery. According to police reports around 5:45 pm on Thursday 29th March, 2012 police received information of an armed robbery at John Chea Convenience Store, Wulff Road, east of Baillou Hill Road. Initial police reports indicate that two (2) masked men, both of whom were allegedly armed with handguns, wearing dark clothing, entered the establishment and demanded cash. It is reported that the culprits robbed the establishment of an undetermined amount of cash and fled the area on foot. Central Division Conducts Operation "New Law"

In keeping with the Commissioner of Police 2012 Policing Plan officers of the Central Division conducted operation, "New Law" within the Central Divisional boundaries. The objective of the operation was to enforce the rules of the road and to seek out those persons who fail to adhere to the laws of the land. The operation was held between the hours of 4pm and 10pm on Tuesday 20th March, 2012 in the areas of Chippingham Road, West Bay Street, Navy Lion Road and Bay Street and resulted in three (3) people being arrested on outstanding Criminal Warrants of Arrest and one person for possession of dangerous drugs. Additionally, one hundred and fourteen (114) drivers were cited for various traffic infractions. Officers of the Central Division are encouraging motorist who frequent the downtown and surrounding areas to ensure that their vehicles are in roadworthy condition as police will continue to enforce ALL laws.

Central Division Conducts Operation "New Breed"

In keeping with the Commissioner of Police 2012 Policing Plan, Tackling Crime and Allaying the Fear of Crime and Enforcing the Rules of the Road, officers of the Central Division conducted operation, "NEW BREED". The operation was held on Friday 16th March, 2012 between the hours of 12:00pm and 9:00pm within the Central Divisional boundary. The operation resulted in seventeen (17) drivers being cited for various traffic infractions and seven (7) males being arrested. One (1) person was arrested on an outstanding Warrant of Arrest, two (2) for Immigrations purposes and the others for offences such as causing harm, possession of dangerous drugs and unlawfully carrying arms.

Officers of the Southwestern Division uncovered a large quantity of assorted ammunition in Southwestern New Providence on Wednesday 29th February, 2012. Preliminary reports indicate that ammunition was uncovered around 5:30 pm at Coral Harbour Road. No one was taken into custody. Active police investigations continue.

Northeastern Division Arrests 5 Men For 3 Handguns in Home

Three (3) men and two (2) juvenile males are in police custody after they were found in possession of three (3) firearms and a large quantity of ammunition. Preliminary police reports indicate that around 3:00 pm on Wednesday 29th February, 2012 officers of the Northeastern Division executed a search warrant on a residence at Podoleo and Cordeaux Avenues, where they uncovered the items. The men ages 24, 19 and 18 years, along with the juvenileís ages 17 and 15 years, were taken into custody. Active police investigations continue.

Mobile and Southern Divisions Makes Firearm Arrest

In two (2) separate incidents police have removed two (2) two handguns and a quantity of ammunition from the street of New Providence. In the first incident police arrested a 19 year old male of St. Margaret's Road off Kemp Road after he was found in possession of a handgun and ammunition. Officers of the Mobile Division arrested the male around 12:50 pm on Saturday 25th February, 2012 at the intersection of Wulff Road and Pinedale. In the second incident officers of the Southern Division arrested a 22 year old male of Strachan's Alley off Kemp Road after he was found in possession of a handgun and ammunition. Officers of the Southern Division arrested the man around 6:40 pm on Saturday 25th February, 2012 in the area of Hospital Lane and Bias Corner. Active police investigations into both matters continue.

$152K Drug Bust At LPIA

A 37 year old male of Armbrister Street, Fox Hill is in police custody after being found in possession of a large quantity of suspected cocaine. Officers of the Drug Enforcement Unit arrested the man around 12:45 pm on Thursday 23rd February, 2012. Initial police reports indicate that the suspect was in the Bahamas Customs section of the Lynden Pindling International Airport when officers conducted a search of his suitcase and discovered the drugs. The drugs weighed nine and a half (91/2) pounds and have an estimated street value of one hundred and fifty-two (152,000.00) thousand dollars. Active police investigations continue.

A 26 year old male of Martin Town, Eight Mile Rock is in police custody after he was found in possession of a handgun and ammunition. Initial police reports indicate that around 9:40 pm on Monday 20th February, 2012 officers of the Central Detective Unit, Grand Bahama District acting on information proceeded to Holmes Rock Cemetery where they observed three (3) males acting suspiciously. Five (5) people, three (3) Bahamians, ages 56, 45 and 32 along with two (2) Guyanese ages 28 and 26 years, are in police custody after they were found in possession of a large quantity of suspected cocaine. Preliminary reports indicate that around 5:00 pm on Sunday 19th February, 2012 officers of the Drug Enforcement Unit acting on information proceeded to Bayshore Marina, East Bay Street where they discovered the drugs. Police are questioning a 20 year old male of Hampster Road off Carmichael Road in connection with a number of armed robberies on the public transportation system. A 25 year old female of Third Street, Coconut Grove is in police custody after she was found in possession of a large quantity of suspected Cocaine. Officers of the Mobile Division accompanied by officers of the Airport Police Station arrested the female around 7:15 am on Sunday 12th February, 2012 in the Pre-Clearance Section of LPIA. The drugs weigh four and three quarter (43/4) pounds, over two (2) kilos, and have a street value of seventy-six ($76,000.00) dollars. Active police investigations continue.

On Monday 7th February, 2012 sometime around 7:00 pm officers of the Central Division acting on information went to a bushy area in Fox Hill where they discovered a large quantity of suspected marijuana. A 23 year old male of Armbrister Street, Fox Hill is in police custody after being found in possession of handgun and ammunition. Initial police reports indicate that around 3:15 am on Sunday 5th February, 2012 police received information of an armed robbery in the area of Fox Hill Park. Officers of the Mobile Division responded and while on Reeves Street, Fox Hill observed a male wearing a jeans pants and black shirt acting suspiciously. GB Police Uncovers Firearm

Officers of the Grand Bahama District in keeping with the Commissioner of Police Policing Plan "Tackling Crime", uncovered a firearm in bushes off Adventurer's Way. Initial police reports indicate that around 4:45 pm on Saturday 4th February, 2012 police at Grand Bahama acting on information proceeded to Bruce Avenue where they observed a group of men acting suspiciously. It is reported that on seeing the police, one of the men produced a handgun, pointed it in the direction of the police while fleeing through nearby bushes. Police gave chase; however, the culprit was able to evade police. A check of the area where the culprit ran revealed a handgun and ammunition. Active police investigations continue.

Southeastern Division Arrests Man With Gun and Ammunition

Police throughout the country, in keeping with the Commissioner of Police Policing Plan "Tackling Crime", continue to remove illegal firearms from the streets. Around 2:20 pm on Friday 3rd January, 2012 officers of the Southeastern Division were on routine patrol on Baillou Hill Road south, when they observed a male on a bicycle acting suspiciously. It is reported that the male on seeing the police threw an object into nearby bushes. Officers pursued the male, caught up with him and conducted a search of the area where they object was thrown and discovered a handgun along with a quantity of ammunition. The 20 year old male of Kendal Avenue was taken into custody. Active police investigations continue.

At 4:20pm this afternoon, Friday 3rd February, 2012, officers from the Central Detective Unit were continuing their investigations into a matter that led to the arrest of a 27 year old male resident of Freeport. Ten Arrested For Drugs

A team of officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit arrested a 42 year old Bahamian male and nine (9) foreign nationals for possession of dangerous drugs and for Immigration purposes. It was approximately 2:30pm on Monday 30th January, 2012 when the officers who were armed with a search warrant went to a residence off Royal Palm Way, Lucaya, and executed the warrant. This search led to the discovery of ten (10) pounds of marijuana with a street value of $10,000.00. Investigations are being continued

Mobile Arrest Man With Firearm and Stolen Vehicle

A 29 year old male of Nassau East north is in police custody after he was found driving a stolen vehicle. According to police reports, four (4) hours after a black Ford Equinox was reported stolen from a club at West Bay Street, police arrested a 29 year old male after he was found driving the SUV. Initial police reports indicate that shortly after 7:00 am on Sunday 29th January, 2012 officers of the Mobile Division were on routine patrol on East Street when they received information that the SUV was seen through Odle Corner. Officers proceeded to Odle Corner where they observed the vehicle being driven by the male. It is reported that the driver on seeing the police attempted to evade them and crashed into a nearby wall. Officers pursued the suspect caught up with him and conducted a search of the vehicle where they discovered a handgun. Active police investigations continue.

Two (2) men, ages 54 and 29 years, are in police custody after they were found in possession of a large quantity of suspected marijuana. According to police reports shortly before 6:00 pm on Saturday 28th January, 2012 officers of the Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) executed a search warrant on a residence at Princess Street, Mt. Tabor Estates where they discovered forty-three (43) crocus sacs of suspected marijuana. The drugs weighed eight hundred and seventy-two (872) pounds and have a street value of eight hundred and seventy-two thousand ($872,000.00) dollars. Active police investigations continue.

Central Division "Operation Firestorm"

In keeping with the Commissioner of Police Policing Plan "Tackling Crime", officers of the Central Division conducted "Operation Firestorm" on Friday 27th January, 2012 which resulted in three (3) people, two (2) males and a female being arrested. A 54 year old male of Rosebud Street off Farrington Road was arrested after officers conducted a search of an abandoned truck and discovered a quantity of suspected marijuana. A 22 year old male, along with a 21 year old female was arrested after officers executed a search warrant on their West and Wilkinson Street home and discovered an imitation firearm along with quantity of suspected marijuana. This morning, Friday 27th January, 2012, police here on the island of Grand Bahama are continuing their investigations into an incident which led them to the North Bahamia area at approximately 6:00pm last evening, Thursday 26th January, 2012 where they recovered a shot gun. In a continued effort to remove illegal firearms from the streets of Grand Bahama, a few hours later the officers recovered a second firearm, a handgun along with a quantity of ammunitions in the Freeport area.

Mobile Division Arrests Male For Firearm

Officers of the Mobile Division, in keeping with the Commissioner of Police Policing Plan, "Tackling Crime", continue to remove illegal firearms from the streets of New Providence. Around 9:20 pm on Tuesday 24th January, 2012 officers of the Mobile Division acting on information proceeded to Carew Street off Montrose Avenue where they observed a male wearing a white shirt and blue jeans pants acting suspiciously.vIt is reported that the 22 year old male, a resident of Kingston Street off Kemp Road, on seeing the officers fled into a nearby residence. Officers pursued the suspect, conducted a search of the home and discovered a handgun, along with a quantity of ammunition. Additionally, police arrested two (2) males found in the home. One of the males, a 45 year old of Hospital Lane was arrested on an outstanding Criminal Warrant of Arrest and the other a 41 year old of Carew Street was arrested on and outstanding Warrant of Arrest. In keeping with Priority Six (6) of the Commissioner of Police Policing Plan, "Protecting Our Borders", officers of the Drug Enforcement Unit arrested a 28 year old male, after he was found in possession of a large quantity of drugs. Initial police reports indicate that around 12:55 pm on Monday 23rd January, 2012 officers of the Drug Enforcement were in the domestic section of LPIA when they observed a male, who had recently disembark a flight from Great Inagua, acting suspiciously. Officers conducted a search of the male and uncovered four (4) Kilos of suspected cocaine, with an estimated street value of sixty thousand ($60,000.00) dollars. The male, a resident of Sir Lynden Pindling Estates, was taken into custody. Active police investigations continue.

A search of a property at Halls Close has resulted in three (3) males, one of whom is believed to be a Jamaican national, being arrested. 22 People Arrested For Serious Offences in Grand Bahama Over Weekend

During the weekend officers on the island of Grand Bahama arrested twenty-two (22) people, twenty-one (21) males and one (1) juvenile female for various offences. Three (3) of the men were arrested for Outstanding Warrants of Apprehension and the other eighteen(18) for questioning reference to Murder, House-breaking, Stealing, Forgery, Armed Robbery, Unlicensed Firearm and Gambling. GB: Suspect Arrested After Robbery. Gun Found

Police on Grand Bahama have arrested a 23 year old male and are actively in pursuit of a second male responsible for an armed robbery. The incident reportedly occurred around 8:00 pm on Friday 20th January, 2012. Initial police reports indicate that a male on arrival to his residence at Ken Circle was approached by two (2) men both of whom were allegedly armed with handguns, demanding cash. The culprits reportedly robbed the victim of his 1990 Nissan Turbo, an I-phone along with his wallet, which contained an undisclosed amount of cash and other personal effects, and fled the area. Acting on information detectives went to a bushy area off the Grand Bahama Highway, near the Water Tank, where they arrested the male, a resident of Jennings Place, after he was found in possession of a handgun and ammunition. A 27 year old male of Pine Barron Road is in police custody after being found in possession of a firearm and ammunition. Initial police reports indicate that shortly after 1:00 am on Friday 20th January, 2012 officers of the Mobile Division were on routine patrol on East Street and Gibbs Corner when they observed the driver of a red Ford Ranger truck fail to stop in obedience to the traffic light. The officers pursued the truck and intercepted it in the area of Sixth Terrace Collins Avenue, where they conducted a search and discovered a shotgun along with a quantity of shotgun shells. A 17 year old juvenile male is in police custody, after he was found in possession of a shotgun and shotgun shells. Initial police reports indicate that shortly before 10:00 pm on Wednesday 18th January, 2012 officers of the Southern Division were on routine patrol on Thompson Lane off East Street, when they observed the teen discharging the weapon. It is reported that the teen on seeing the officers ran. The officers gave chase and subsequently arrested the Fritz Lane resident. Active police investigations continue.

3 Arrested After Robbery. Gun and Cash Found

Three (3) men involved in an early morning armed robbery at a local business establishment are in police custody. Initial police reports indicate that around 6:30 am on Wednesday 18th January, 2012 police received information of an armed robbery at a business establishment located Wulff Road east of Pinedale Road. Police responded and while in route observed a white Honda Saber occupied by two (2) males, fleeing the area. Police pursued the vehicle and intercepted it in the area of Garden Hills, where they arrested two (2) men and confiscated a shotgun along with a radio set. Later in the afternoon police arrested a third (3) male after a short pursuit, that resulted in the suspect's vehicle crashing on Finlayson Street off Poinciana Drive. Officers conducted a search of the suspect's home and discovered a handgun, a second radio set, a pair of binoculars, a quantity of suspected marijuana, along with a large amount of cash believed to property of the business establishment. Police are actively seeking two (2) additional males in connection with this incident. Active police investigations continue.

DEU Arrests Four for Handgun and Drugs

In two (2) separate incidents officers of the Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) arrested four (4) people. In the first incident, a 54 year old mother and her 30 year old son were taken into custody after DEU officers executed a search warrant on their residence at Flamingo Road and discovered a handgun, ammunition and a quantity of suspected marijuana. According to police reports DEU officers arrested the two around 12:45 pm on Wednesday 18th January, 2012. The drugs weigh two and a half (2 1/2) pounds and have an estimated street value of two thousand five hundred ($2,500.00) dollars. A short while later, officers of the Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) executed a search warrant on a home at Orchard Close, off Sea Breeze Lane where they discovered a quantity of suspected marijuana. Two (2) men ages, 32 and 30 years, were taken into custody. Active police investigations continue.

A 24 year old male of Kennedy Sub-division is in police custody after officers conducted a search of his vehicle and discovered a handgun and ammunition. According to police reports around 10:30 pm on Tuesday 17th January, 2012 officers of the Drug Enforcement Unit were on routine patrol on Soldier Road, east of East Street when they conducted a search of a 1999 gray Honda Accord and discovered the items. Officers also conducted a search of the suspect residence and discovered a quantity of suspected marijuana. Active police investigations continue.

Mobile Division Enforces Rules of the Road

In keeping with priority four of the Commissioner of Police Policing Plan 2012 "Enforcing The Rules of The Road" a team of officers from the Mobile Division took to the streets of the city with just that in mind; to enforce the rules of the road! There were six (6) patrol units which left Mobile Base sometime around 5pm and took up static duties at the intersection of Solider Road and Prince Charles Drive looking for road traffic offenders. During the operation, the team netted the following results; 75 Fixed Penalty Notices Citations, 6 Traffic Offence Reports Citations, 20 Individual Searches, 5 Arrests for Outstanding Warrants, 1 Arrested for a BOLO and 3 Arrests for Breach of the Immigration Act.

Most Wanted Suspect Omar Chisolm Arrested

On Thursday 27th October, 2011 police issued a wanted bulletin for OMAR CHISLOM reference to a double shooting incident which occurred at Fowler Street off East Bay Street on Wednesday 26th October, 2011. Police wish to inform the public that 34 year old OMAR CHISLOM is now in police custody. Central Division "Operation New Dawn" Makes Drug Bust

A routine traffic stop by officers of the Central Division engaged in "Operation New Dawn" has resulted in a 24 year old male being arrested. According to police reports around 11:00 am on Sunday 11th January, 2012 officers of the Central Division were on routine patrol on Navy Lyon Road when they stopped a 2005 Chevy Lumina occupied by two (2) men for a minor traffic infraction. During the stop, officers conducted a search of the vehicle and discovered a quantity of drugs (suspected marijuana) beneath the driver seat. The officers arrested one of the men; however, the driver was able to evade police. The drugs weigh four and three quarter (43/4) pounds and have an estimated street value of four thousand and seventy-five (4,075.00) dollars. Active police investigations continue.

Initial police reports indicate that around 4:45 am on Sunday 15th January, 2012 officers of the Drug Enforcement Unit acting on information proceeded to the property where they uncovered twenty-four (24) bales of suspected marijuana. The drugs weigh four hundred and ninety five (495) pounds and have an estimated street value of four hundred and ninety five thousand ($495,000.00). No one was taken into custody. A 61 year old mother, along with her 23 year old daughter and her 34 year old son are in police custody after officers conducted a search of their residence and discovered a a shotgun along with quantity of ammunition. Initial police reports indicate that around 11:30 pm on Sunday 15th January, 2012 police received information of gunshots being heard at Royal Palm Street, Culmersville. Police responded and on arrival observed a male at Carolitta Terrace off Royal Palm Street acting suspiciously. Officers conducted a search of the area where they male was and recovered a shotgun. A 42 year old male is in police custody after he was found in possession of a handgun. Initial police reports indicate that around 6:30 pm on Saturday 14th January, 2012 officers of the Mobile Division were on routine patrol on Howard Street off Chippingham Road when they observed a male discharge a firearm on the park. It is reported that the culprit on seeing the police ran and was observed throwing an object under a nearby vehicle. Officers gave chase and caught up with the Pitt Road resident, who is presently on bail for possession of firearm. A search of the area beneath the vehicle revealed a handgun. Central Division Conducts Operation "Take Back"

In keeping with the Commissioner of Police policing plan to "Tackle Crime", officers of the Central Division launched "Operation Take Back" on Friday 13th January, 2012. The four (4) hour long operation, which also included officers from the Internal Security Division, targeted prolific offenders, as well as persons engaged in minor crimes. At the end of the operation three (3) people, two (2) females and a male, were arrested. A 54 year old female was arrested for Breach of the Liquor License Act, after officers conducted a search of her Quarry Mission Road residence and discovered a large quantity of liquor, sodas, water, backwoods, etc. A 21 year old female of Sandy Lane, Masons Addition was arrested after officers conducted a search of her residence and discovered a large quantity of suspected marijuana and cash believed to be the proceeds from the sale of drugs. Officers also arrested a 20 year old male of Ross Corner, who was wanted on an Outstanding Warrant of Arrest. Officers of the Central Division would like to encourage all residents to adhere to all rules as police will continue with their efforts.

GB: Two Guns, Ammunition and Drugs Recovered

It was late morning, approximately 10:25am, Thursday 12th January, 2012, when a team of officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit here in Freeport were in the Midshipman Road area where they recovered five bags of suspected marijuana along with two firearms. The detectives were continuing an investigation when the discovery of the dangerous drugs weighing 52.5 pounds with a street value of $52,500.00 was made along with a silver and black .357 revolver with ten live rounds of ammunition and a black .45 Austria Glock pistol with thirty-eight rounds of ammunitions. The drugs and firearms were taken into police custody. At present, no arrest was made in this matter and investigations are being continued by the Unit.

Initial police reports indicate that around 2:50 pm on Wednesday 12th January, 2012 police received information that two (2) men were involved in argument at Shady Hallow Street off Hawkins Hill and that one of the men was seen retrieving a shotgun from nearby bushes. Police responded and on arrival took custody of the shotgun and its shells, which was reportedly taken from the suspect by a third male.

Police in New Providence removed both a shotgun and a handgun from the streets of New Providence. According to police reports sometime around 10:30 am on Wednesday 11th January, 2012 officers of the Northeastern Division acting on information proceeded to an apartment complex at Wulff Road, east of Kemp Road where they uncovered a handgun along with a quantity of ammunition. A short while later around 2:00 pm officers of the Mobile Division acting on information uncovered a shotgun, along with a quantity of shotgun shells in bushes at the rear of the Baillou Hills, Sporting Complex. Four (4) men, all from the island from Bimini, are in police custody after they were found in possession of a quantity of suspected marijuana. Initial police reports indicate that around 4:50 pm on Tuesday 10th January, 2012 officers of the Drug Enforcement Officers, Grand Bahama District, executed a search warrant on a residence at Sir Francis Point, Lucaya where they discovered the drugs. The drugs weigh 13.5 pounds and have an estimated street value of thirteen thousand five hundred ($13,500.00) dollars. The men ages, 20, 21, 31 and 32 years were taken into custody. Southwestern Division Smash House-Breaking Ring

Jewelry, flat screen televisions, laptops, and a shotgun are some of the items recovered by officers of the Southwestern Division in an overnight operation. Initial police reports indicate that between 4:00 pm on Tuesday 10th January, 2012 and 5:30 am on Wednesday 11th January, 2012 officers of the Southwestern Division conducted an operation in the Southwestern District (Carmichael Road), targeting prolific housebreakers as well as people who purchased stolen items. The operation resulted in eight (8) people, three (3) men and five (5) females, being taken into custody after officers discovered a number of suspected stolen items inside their respective residences. Police wish to encourage members of the public to desist from purchasing stolen property as police will seek you out and place you before the courts.

Police wish to inform that Andre Wallace alias "MUGS" is in police custody. The 25 year old male was arrested around 8:50 am on Wednesday 4th January 2012 at the intersection of Ragged Island Street and Andros Avenue by officers from the Central Detective Unit without incident. On Wednesday 2nd November, 2011 police issued a wanted bulletin for the resident of Amos Ferguson Street. Police want to question this suspect in connection with the Murder at Palmetto Avenue off East Street at 6:00 am on Thursday 15th September, 2011. Additionally, police want to question this suspect in connection with the death of the female discovered on rocks at Blue Water Cay, on Friday 2nd December, 2011.
