Firearm Uncovered In Bushes In Grand Bahama

Early Christmas morning, at 1:40am, Sunday 25th December, 2011, officers from the Eight Mile Rock Police Station were directed to a bushy area in Kings Subdivision, Eight Mile Rock where they discovered a brown rifle case. This case contained a brown, Marlin .22 rifle which was collected and investigations are continuing by officers at the Central Detective Unit. At present no arrest was made in regards to this matter.

Two Men Arrested For Firearm And Ammunition

Two (2) men are in police custody after officers conducted a search of a residence and uncovered a handgun along with a quantity of ammuntion. According to police reports sometime around 2:30 pm on Thursday 22nd December, 2011 officers of the Southeastern Division, Central Intelligence Branch and the Internal Security Division executed a search warrant on a residence at Baillou Hill Road south and uncovered the items. Officers also confiscated a 32 ft. contender boat suspected of being stolen. The men ages 36 and 26 years were taken into custody. Active police investigations continue.

Mobile: Two Firearms Taken Off Streets

Officers of the Mobile Division removed two (2) firearms from the streets of New Providence. Initial police reports indicate that around 1:45 pm on Monday 19th December, 2011 police received reports of gunshots being heard in the area of Mars Road, Golden Gates. Police responded and on arrival to the area of community park observed a group of men, who on seeing the police fled the area. Police gave chase; however, the men were able to evade police. Police conducted a search of the area where the men were and discovered a shotgun along with a quantity of shotgun shells and drugs; suspected marijuana. Acting on additional information officers proceeded to Mutton Fish Drive where they where they conducted a search of an abandon property and discovered a handgun. No one was arrested in both matters. Active police investigations continue.

$1 Million Drug Seizure Uncovered In Grand Bahama

Detectives here at the Drug Enforcement Unit in Grand Bahama are continuing their investigations into the seizure of a large quantity of suspected dangerous drugs namely: marijuana. It was approximately 7:24pm this evening, Sunday 18th December, 2011, when a team of officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit were continuing their investigations into a matter which led them into the Holmes Rock area, West Grand Bahama where they observed a dark colored car with the head lights on that was parked through a track road. The officers were approaching the vehicle when they saw persons got into the vehicle and drove away at a high rate of speed. The officers while giving chase of the vehicle, heard gunshots coming from this vehicle and the occupants made good their escape in Section 'A' of Holmes Rock. The detectives returned to the area where the vehicle was originally seen, and they discovered two (2) large crocus bags, which upon examination, contained several brown taped packages of suspected marijuana. A further search of an unfinished building nearby revealed an additional eighteen (18) bags of suspected marijuana. At present, no arrest was made in this matter. However, the marijuana that weighed one thousand and thirty-five pounds (1,035lbs) has an estimated street value of one million and thirty-five thousand dollars ($1,035,000.00).

Grand Bahama Police Makes Gun And Drug Arrest

This morning, Sunday 11th December, 2011, a 53 year old male of Freeport and a 49 year old Jamaican National are in police custody after being arrested by police last evening. It was 10:00pm on Saturday 10th December, 2011, when a team of officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit here on the island of Grand Bahama were armed with a search warrant went to an apartment complex in the Midshipman Road area. There the officers executed the warrant on an apartment which resulted in the discovery of

  • A large quantity of cash (US currency/ mixed denomination) totaling $593, 521.00;
  • A .44 Desert Eagle Pistol with a magazine clip containing six (6) live rounds of .44 ammunitions and
  • A quantity of marijuana that weighed seven (7) pounds with a street value of $7,000.00.

The 53 year old man who is the owner of the apartment complex and key holder to the apartment was present when the search and discovery were made by the officers.

Handguns, Ammunition And Drugs Seized In Grand Bahama

This morning, Wednesday 7th December, 2011, a 27 year old male and a 24 year old female are in police custody for possession of dangerous drugs, unlicensed firearm and ammunitions. In their continued quest to remove dangerous drugs and illegal firearms from the streets of Grand Bahamas, last evening, Tuesday 6th December, 2011 at 9:45pm, a team of officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit here in Grand Bahama were armed with a search warrant when they went to a residence in the Midshipman Road area. This warrant that was executed by the officers resulted in the discovery of two (2) crocus sacks of suspected cocaine. The suspected drugs that weighed a total of one hundred and twenty-nine and a half pounds (129.5) are estimated at a street value of $1,144,000.00. A further search of this residence also revealed two handguns: one (1) Black Glock 17 .9mm pistol which contained a magazine clip with five (5) rounds of .9mm ammunitions and one (1) Black Glock 19 .9mm pistol a magazine clip containing seventeen (17) rounds of .9mm ammunitions along with an extended clip which contained 31 rounds of .9mm ammunitions. Total: 53rounds of ammunitions. Investigations are continuing in this matter.

Mobile Division Recovers Firearm And Ammunition

Officers of the Mobile Division uncovered a handgun along with a quantity of ammunition at Cumberbatch Alley off Andros Avenue. According to police reports around 6:45 pm on Tuesday 06th December, 2011 officers of the Mobile Division were on routine patrol on Andros Avenue when they observed a male at Cumberbatch Alley acting suspiciously. The male was able to evade police; however, a search of the area where the male was revealed a handgun and ammunition. Active police investigations continue.

Central Division Officers Arrests Two Men For Firearm

Two (2) men, ages 44 and 29 years, are in police custody after officers conducted a search of their black Honda Accord and discovered an unlicensed shotgun along with a quantity of shotgun shells.vOfficers of the Central Division arrested the men around 2:45 am on Wednesday 07th December, 2011 at Sunrise Way off Carmichael Road. Active police investigations continue.

Firearm Recovered After Shooting In GB

It was 4:56am on Saturday morning 3rd December, 2011, when two teams of officers from the Mobile Patrol Unit were attending to an incident at a traffic accident scene on Coral Road in the vicinity of the Independence Park, when the officers heard gun shots in the area of Candy's Cabana on East Sunrise Highway. The officers proceeded to the area and upon their arrival, they observed a Nissan Altima car with a gunshot to the right rear passenger window. The officers also discovered that a 26 year old male of Lucaya who was on the inside of this vehicle, was suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper right arm. The injured man was transported to the Emergency Section of the Rand Memorial Hospital for medical attention and a team of officers from the Central Detective Unit commenced an investigation into this matter. Minutes later an officer observed a man running away from the area and other officers were called to assist. The officers gave chase and although the man made good his escape the officers while checking the area recovered a black .40 Glock pistol. Investigations are continuing and we (the police) are calling on persons who were in the area early Saturday morning to call in at 350-3107/8, 352-9774/5 or 911 with information that would assist in the investigations.

Rapid Strike Arrests Two Men For Two Firearms

In two (2) separate incidents officers of Rapid Strike removed two (2) weapons from the streets of New Providence. Initial police reports indicate that around 9:20 pm on Friday 02nd December, 2011 officers of Rapid Strike were on routine patrol in the area of Market and Wilson Streets when they observed a group of men acting suspiciously. Officers conducted a search of the area where the men were and discovered a handgun and ammunition. As a result, eleven (11) males were taken into custody. In the second incident officers of Rapid Strike arrested a 28 year old male of Rupert Dean Lane after he was found in possession of a high powered weapon and a large quantity of ammunition. Officers arrested the man around 10:36 pm on Friday 02nd December, 2011 after they conducted a search of his residence and discovered the items. Active police investigations into both matters continue.

CDU: Man Arrested For Firearm and Ammunition

Officers of the Central Detective Unit (CDU) arrested a male resident of Hope Gardens after he was found in possession of a handgun and ammunition. According to police reports the 21 year old was arrested around 6:30 pm on Thursday 01st December, 2011 at Price Street, Nassau Village. Police investigations continue.

Two Firearms Confiscated. Man In Custody

TWO (2) FIREARMS CONFISCATED BY POLICE In two (2) separate incidents police have confiscated two (2) handguns along with a quantity of ammunition. In the first incident officers at Bimini arrested a 26 year old male of Bailey Town after he was found in possession of a handgun and ammunition. According to police reports around 11:30 am on Monday 28th November, 2011 Bimini police acting on information went to King Street, Bailey Town where they conducted a search of the man and discovered the weapon and ammunition. The second handgun confiscated by police occurred shortly after 12:00 pm on Monday 28th November, 2011 at Dorsette Alley off Augusta Street. Police reports indicate that officers of the Mobile Division acting on information went to Dorsette Alley off Augusta Street where they observed a group of men acting suspiciously. It is reported that the men on seeing the officers fled the area. Officers conducted a search of the area where the men were and discovered a handgun along with a quantity of ammunition. No one was taken into custody. Active police investigations into both matters continue.

Burger King Robber Shot And Arrested. Handgun Recovered

Police responding to a report of an armed robbery at Burger King located in the Hoffer's Plaza, West Bay Street exchanged gunfire with three (3) suspects on Saturday 26th November, 2011. According to police reports around 6:10 pm on Saturday 26th November, 2011 officers were at the intersection of John F. Kennedy Drive and Tonique Williams Darling Highway, when they observed the driver of a beige Toyota Corolla, traveling east on Tonique Williams Darling Highway, acting suspiciously. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle; however, the driver sped off at a high rate of speed and came to a stop at the intersection of the Tonique Williams Darling Highway and Sir Milo Butler Drive, after crashing into a vehicle. It is reported that the occupants of the vehicle fired gunshots at police which resulted in police returning fire and hitting one of the suspects to the abdomen and heel. Two (2) men were able to evade police; however the driver, a 27 year old male of West Avenue off Carmichael Road, was taken to hospital via EMS personnel where he is detained in stable condition under heavy police guard. Police recovered from the vehicle a high powered weapon along with a quantity of ammunition and an undisclosed amount of cash, believed to be the property of Burger King, West Bay Street. During the incident, none of the officers involved were injured.

ED: Two Men Arrested. handgun Recovered

Two (2) men ages 30 and 23 years are in police custody after officers conduct a search of their blue Plymouth Neon and discovered a handgun and ammunition. Police reports indicate that around 3:30 pm on Saturday 26th November, 2011 police received information that gunshots were being heard in the area of Prince Charles Drive at the rear of the Prince Charles Shopping Centre. Police responded and observed the occupants of a blue Neon acting suspiciously while leaving the area. Police pursued the vehicle, which came to a stop on Zirconia Court off Pine Barron Road and discovered the weapon. Police are investigating and as usual are appealing to members of the public who have knowledge of persons that are in possession of firearms, to either hand them over to police or report them as these same weapons may be used to endanger you. Once again we extend appreciation to those members of the public who continue to make their best contributions in the fight against crime.

Four In Custody For Recent Murder

On Friday 25th November, 2011 around 12: 15 am a 35 year old male was at Saxon Way, Masons Addition when he was approached by a male wearing a brown hooded jacket armed with a handgun and subsequently shot multiple times to the body. The victim was taken to hospital via EMS personnel where he succumbed to his injuries. A short while later police arrested four (4) men ages 24, 23, 21, and 18 years, in connection with the incident. Police wish to inform that they are following significant leads into the matter and making good progress. Charges are expected to be filed very soon. Active police investigations continue.

Four Arrested For Three Handguns And Ammunition

In two (2) separate incidents police have removed three (3) weapons from the streets of New Providence. Police reports indicate that shortly before 11:00 am on Friday 25th November, 2011 police received information that gunshots were being heard at Romer Street off Fox Hill Road. Officers of the Fox Hill Police Station responded and on arrival to Romer Street observed two (2) men acting suspiciously. Officers conducted a search of the men and discovered two (2) handguns, a quantity of assorted ammunition along with a quantity of suspected marijuana. The men, ages 24 and 25 years were taken into custody. Active police investigations continue. In the second incident a 31 year old male and a 24 year old female were taken into custody after they were found in possession of a handgun and ammunition. Officers of the Central Division arrested the two (2) around 8:20 pm on Friday 25th November, 2011 at West Bay Street in the area of the Western Esplanade after conducting a search of their vehicle. SD: Man Arrested For Gun And Ammunition

A 30 year old resident of Miami Street is in police custody after he was found in possession of a handgun and ammunition. Officers of the Southern Division arrested the man around 8:35 pm on Friday 18th November, 2011. Initial police reports indicate that officers were on routine patrol on Palmetto Avenue off East Street when they observed the man acting suspiciously. Officers conducted a search of the man and discovered the weapon and ammunition. Active police investigations continue.

5 Kilos of Cocaine Found On Man At GB Airport

A collaborative effort between Grand Bahama Police, U.S. Customs and Border Patrol Officers has resulted in a male resident of Privateer Lane, Fortune Bay, Grand Bahama being arrested. The arrest occurred around 5:30 pm on Tuesday 15th November, 2011. According to police reports, Grand Bahama police(inclusive of officers of the Drug Enforcement Unit and the Airport Police Station) acting on information along with US Customs and Border Patrol officers conducted a search of a 22 year old male while in the Pre-Clearance section of the GBIA and discovered five (5) kilos of suspected cocaine. The drugs weigh 12.5 pounds and have an estimated street value of one hundred and fifty thousand ($150,000.00) dollars. Active police investigations continue.

Mobile Arrests Man For Handgun

An 18 year old male of Raymond Road, Marathon Estates is in police custody after he was found in possession of an imitation firearm. Officers of the Mobile Division made the arrest around 11:40 pm on Tuesday 15th November, 2011. Initial police report indicates that officers of the Mobile Division were on routine patrol on Wulff Road when they heard gunshots in the Moore Avenue area. On arrival to the area officers observed a male wearing a blue hooded jacket and blue jeans pants with a handgun in his hand. It is reported that on seeing the officers the suspect fled. Officers pursued the man caught up with him and recovered the weapon. Active police investigations continue.

A box containing a handgun, a quantity of ammunition and drugs has been seized by police at Andros. According to police reports around 5:20 pm on Tuesday 15th November, 2011 officers at Andros acting on information went to the San Andros Airport where they discovered the items. No one was taken in custody; however, police on the island are following significant leads. Active police investigations continue.

DEU: Handgun And Ammmunition Recovered

Officers of the Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) removed a handgun along with a quantity of ammunition from the streets of New Providence last evening. Initial police reports indicate that around 7:00 pm on Sunday 13th November, 2011 DEU officers acting on information proceeded to Homestead Street where they observed a male wearing a white t-shirt and a dark colored pants acting suspiciously. It is reported that the suspect on seeing the officers fled. Offices gave chase and observed the suspect throw an object on top of a nearby house. The suspect was able to evade police; however, a search of the house top revealed a handgun and ammunition. Moments later officers executed a search warrant on an apartment at Homestead Street and discovered a quantity of suspected marijuana. Two (2) males ages 16 and 26 years were taken into custody. Active police investigations into both matters continue.

Two (2) additional weapons have been removed off the streets of New Providence. According to police reports sometime around 6:10 pm on Friday 11th November, 2011 officers of the Eastern Division acting on information proceeded to Yamacraw Hill Road where they conducted a search of a bushy area and discovered two (2) handguns. Two (2) high powered weapons along with a large quantity of ammunition have been removed from the streets of New Providence. According to police reports sometime around 6:20 pm on Tuesday 8th November, 2011 officers of the Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) acting on information went to a bushy area off Dolphin Drive and uncovered the weapons and ammunition. Mobile Division Recovers Two Firearm

In two (2) separate incidents, officers of the Mobile Division arrested four (4) men after they were found in possession of two (2) handguns along with a quantity of ammunition. The first arrest reportedly occurred around 4:30 pm on Tuesday 8th November, 2011. Police reports indicate that officers of the Mobile Division were on routine patrol on Garden view Road off Bernard Road when they observed the driver of a heavily tinted brown Honda Accord, acting suspiciously. Officers conducted a search of the vehicle and uncovered a handgun along with a quantity of ammunition. The second arrest reportedly occurred around 8:45 pm on Tuesday 8th November, 2011. According to police reports officers were on routine patrol on 5th Street and Coconut Grove when they observed the occupants of a white Honda Torneo acting suspiciously. Officers conducted a search of the vehicle and discovered a handgun along with a quantity of ammunition. The men, ages, 23, 29 and 34 years, were taken into custody. Officers of Southern Division Uncovers Firearm

Police are questioning a 16 year old juvenile male of Wulff Road reference to an unlicensed firearm and a number of armed robberies in the Southern Division. According to police reports around 3:00 pm on Tuesday 8th November, 2011 officers of "Southern Storm" acting on information proceeded to Lily of the Valley Corner off East Street where they conducted a search of a bushy area and uncovered a shotgun along with a quantity of shotgun shells. Four Men Arrested For Handgun And Ammunition

Four (4) males, ages 19, 22, 25, and 26 are in police custody after they were found in possession of a handgun and ammunition. Officers of the Southwestern Division (Carmichael Road Police Station) arrested the men around 11:00 am on Monday 7th November, 2011. According to police reports officers of the Southwestern Division were on routine patrol on St. Vincent Road off Baillou Hill Road when they observed the occupants of a green Honda Accord acting suspiciously. Officers conducted a search of the vehicle and recovered the weapon and ammunition. Active police investigations continue.

Man Arrested For Three (3) Firearms

A 35 year old man of the Grove, West Bay Street is in police custody after he was found in possession of three (3) firearms. According to police reports around 10:50 pm on Friday 4th November, 2011 officers of the Western Division acting on information proceeded to West Bay Street where they observed the occupant of a silver Land Rover acting suspiciously. Officers conducted a search of the jeep and discovered a handgun along with a quantity of ammunition. A short while later, officers of the Central Detective Unit conducted a search of the suspect's home and discovered two (2) firearms along with a large quantity of assorted ammunition. Active police investigations continue.

Internal Security Division Uncovers Firearm

Officers of the Internal Security Division (ISD) uncovered a handgun along with a quantity of ammunition while on patrol in the Malcolm Road area. According to police reports around 10:15 pm on Friday 4th November, 2011 ISD officers acting on information proceeded to Ocean View Road off East Street where they observed a group of men standing outside the Five Star Restaurant. It is reported that the men on seeing the officers fled the area on foot. Officers conducted a search of the area where the men were and discovered the weapon and ammunition. No one was arrested. A 68 year old man of Brown's Alley off Kemp Road is in police custody after officers of Rapid Strike conducted a search of his residence and uncovered two (2) shotguns along with a quantity of shotgun shells. Officers arrested the man, at his residence, around 9:20 pm on Thursday 3rd November, 2011. Active police investigations continue.

DEU: High Powered Weapon Recovered

A high powered weapon along with a handgun and a quantity of ammunition were removed from the streets of New Providence. Officers of the Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) uncovered the weapons around 6:00pm on Wednesday 2nd November, 2011. Initial police reports indicate that DEU officers acting on information proceeded to Faith Avenue south off Carmichael Road where they discovered the weapons in a bushy area. Mobile: Three Men Arrested For Gun And Ammunition

Three (3) men, ages, 27, 26, and 19 years, spent the night in police custody after they were found in possession of a handgun and ammunition. The arrest occurred around 12:15 am on Thursday 3rd November, 2011. According to police reports officers of the Mobile Division were on routine patrol on Hospital Lane in the area of Scott Street when they observed a white Audi occupied by three (3) men acting suspiciously. Officers conducted a search of the vehicle and recovered the weapon and ammunition along with a mask and a pair of gloves. Active police investigation continues.

GB: Man Arrested For Handgun And Ammunition

A 24 year old male of Lunar Boulevard, Freeport was taken into custody after he was found in possession of a handgun and ammunition.Officers the mobile Division arrested the man around 5:50 pm on Tuesday 01st November, 2011.According to police reports, officers acting on information proceeded to the Britannia Minnie Mall at Freeport where they observed the male acting suspiciously.A search of the male revealed a handgun and ammunition. Active police investigations continue.

GB: Man Arrested For Gun And Ammunition

Sometime around 5:28 am on Wednesday 26th October, 2011 police received information that three (3) males wearing dark clothing were seen jumping a fence in the area of Pioneers Loop. Police responded and on arrival to the area observed three (3) males fitting the description given, fleeing from a residence through a nearby service road. Officers pursued the men and were successful in arresting one of the men along with a firearm and an assortment of ammunition. Additionally, items believed to have been stolen from the residence were recovered by police. According to police reports the culprits entered the residence, by kicking in the front door, held the occupants at bay and demanded cash. Active police investigations continue.

Two (2) men are in police custody after officers of the Central Detective Unit conducted a search of their green Honda Accord and discovered a handgun and ammunition. According to police reports officers were on routine patrol on Step Street when they observed the occupants of the vehicle acting suspiciously. The men, ages 21 and 22 years, were arrested around 10:30pm on Tuesday 26th October, 2011. Active police investigations continue.

Downtown Armed Robbers Arrested- Cash & Handgun Recovered

Officers of the Tourism Police Unit (TPU) arrested two (2) men responsible for an armed robbery at Shirley and Charlotte Streets. The incident reportedly occurred around 4:35 pm on Sunday 23rd October, 2011. Initial police reports indicate that a male was in the process of making a deposit at Bank of the Bahamas when he was approached by two (2) men one of whom was allegedly armed with a handgun. It is reported that the culprits robbed the male of a deposit bag containing an undisclosed amount of cash and fled the area on foot. Quick response by officers of TPU resulted in a chase on foot and the culprits being arrested in the area of Peck Slope and Market Street. Officers retrieved from the culprits, both age 19 years, a handgun along with a quantity of ammunition and the deposit bag, containing an undisclosed amount of cash. Active police investigations continue.

NED: Man Arrested For Handgun And Ammunition

A 19 year old male of Johnson Road is in police custody after he was found in possession of a handgun and ammunition. Officers of the Northeastern Division (Wulff Road Police Station) arrested the man around 2:15 am on Saturday 22nd October, 2011. Initial police reports indicate that officers were on routine patrol on Wulff Road in the area of Peach Street when they observed the male acting suspiciously. It is further reported that as the officers approached the male he was observed throwing an object beneath a nearby vehicle. Officers conducted a search of the area beneath the vehicle and discovered a handgun and ammunition. Active police investigations continue.

CIB Arrests Man For Firearm And Ammunition

Officers of the Central Intelligence Bureau (CIB) arrested a 26 year old male of Commonwealth Boulevard, Elizabeth Estates after he was found in possession of a handgun and a quantity of ammunition. The 26 year old was arrested at Pratt's Alley off Rupert Dean around 12:45 pm on Friday 21st October, 2011. Active police investigations continue.

A 22 year old male spent the night in police custody after he was found in possession of a handgun and ammunition. Officers of the Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) arrested the Yellow Elder Gardens resident around 1:50 am on Friday 21st October, 2011 in the area of Prince George Wharf. Shotgun And Drugs Discovered In Garbage

In two (2) separate incidents officers of the Central Intelligence Bureau (CIB) uncovered a shotgun and a quantity of suspected marijuana. According to police reports around 2:30 pm on Monday 17th October, 2011 officers of the CIB acting on information went to Palm Tree Avenue and Sixth Street where they discovered a shotgun with shotgun shell behind a garbage bin. No one was taken into custody; active police investigations continue.

Mobile: High Powered Weapon Recovered In Pinewood

Officers of the Mobile Division removed another firearm from the streets of New Providence. A 23 year old male of Lyon Road off Shirley Street is in police custody after he was found in possession of a handgun and a quantity of ammunition. GB: $203,000.00 Drug Shipment, Gun And Ammunition Uncovered

On Wednesday 12th, October 2011, officers from Grand Bahama were on mobile patrol when they observed the driver of a vehicle driving in a very suspicious manner. The vehicle was later stopped where the driver along with the vehicle was searched, which led to the discovery of a large quantity of suspected marijuana with a street value of $176,000.00. Further investigations were carried out where a search was conducted at a residence where an additional quantity of drugs was discovered; with an estimated street value of $27,000.00, a firearm along with an assortment of ammunition. Seven (7) men, four (4) Bahamians and three (3) Haitian nationals are in police custody after they were found in possession of a large quantity of both suspected marijuana and Cocaine. Officers arrested the men shortly after 6:00 pm on Friday 7th October, 2011 in the area of the Crossing at Great Inagua after they found in possession of fifty-seven (57) pounds of suspected marijuana and two (2) kilos of suspected cocaine. Two (2) men, ages 38 and 26 years, are in police custody after they were caught stealing metal pipes from the Well Fields off Frank Watson Boulevard. Suspect Arrested After Robbing Baby Store.

Police are questioning a 30 year old male of Windsor Lane reference to an armed robbery at Lullaby Baby Store, Rosetta and Mackey Streets. According to police reports a man allegedly armed with a handgun entered the establishment around 4:00 pm on Saturday 08th October, 2011 and demanded cash. The culprit robbed the establishment of an undetermined amount of cash and an employee of her white 1998 Lexus and fled the area in an unknown direction. Quick response by the police resulted in the suspect being caught at Wulff Road and Collins Avenue after ditching the vehicle at Kenilworth Street off Mount Royal Avenue. Handgun Recovered After Being Tossed From Vehicle

Sometime around 10:00 pm on Saturday 08th October, 2011 officers of the Central Divisional Detective Unit were on routine patrol on Rupert Dean and Scott Street when they observed a group of men acting suspiciously. It is reported that two (2) of the men on seeing the officers, got into a heavily tinted green Honda Accord and fled south on Rupert Dean. Officers pursued the vehicle and observed the driver throw and object out of the vehicle. GB: Man Arrested At Airport With Firearm And Ammunition

This morning, Tuesday 4th October, 2011 a 23 year old male resident of New Providence is in police custody after being arrested for possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunitions. It was at 6:15pm on Monday 3rd October, 2011 when the police at the Airport Police Station were summoned to the Domestic Section of the Freeport International Airport regarding the discovery of a firearm. Uniformed officers responded and on their arrival they saw the male passenger who was had checked in on a flight to Nassau when his luggage was checked and the discovery handgun along with ammunition was made. Community Detains Man With Handgun And Ammunition

In two (2) separate incidents two (2) firearms were removed from the streets of New Providence overnight. The first arrest reportedly occurred around 10:00 pm on Friday 23rd September, 2011. According to police reports a 24 year old male of Burial Ground Corner was at Peter Street when he attempted to rob another man. It is reported that a struggle ensued between the culprit and the man which resulted in the man disarming the suspect and members of the community detaining the suspect until police arrived. Officers arrested the male sometime around 12:20 am on Monday 19th September, 2011 on Collins Avenue. Three Men Arrested For Firearm And Ammunition

In two (2) separate incidents police arrested three (3) men after they were found in possession of a handgun and a shotgun. The first arrest occurred around 9:15 am on Friday 16th September, 2011 in the area of Yamacraw Hill Road and Fox Hill Road. According to police reports, two men while on a jitney got into an altercation which resulted in both men receiving multiple stab wounds about the body and officers recovering a handgun and ammunition. The men, ages 20 and 16 years were taken to hospital via EMS personnel where they remain in serious condition and in police custody. The second firearm arrest reportedly occurred around 2:30 am on Saturday 17th September, 2011. Police reports indicate that officers from the Northeastern Division were responding to a call of gunshots being heard in the Homestead Street area when they observed a male wearing a white t-shirt and dark colored pants running from the area. It is reported that the culprit on seeing the police threw an object to the ground. Officers pursued the suspect, caught up with him and conducted a search of the area where the object was thrown and recovered a shotgun with shotgun shells. The 24 year old of Miami Street was taken into custody. Active police investigations into both matters continue.

GB: Two Arrested For $360,000 Drug Seizure

On Saturday 10th September 2011, at about 1:20pm, DEU officers acting on information followed a suspected vehicle along East Sunrise Highway heading east onto Seahorse Drive. Upon reaching the area of Lucaya, officers made several attempts to stop the vehicle at which stage the male driver increased his speed. The vehicle came to a sudden stop in the area of the New Port Condominiums and the driver and a passenger fled into nearby bushes. Officers gave chase and eventually caught both suspects who were arrested. A search of the vehicle in their presence was conducted which revealed five large square taped packages containing 18 kilos of suspected cocaine. Investigations are continuing into this matter. The estimated street value of the suspected drugs is three hundred and sixty thousand Dollars $360,000.00

Armed Robbery Suspects Caught. Firearm Recovered

Two (2) men, ages 22 and 18 years, are in hospital in stable condition under police guard, after robbing a Pinewood Gardens resident. Police reports indicate that around 6:48 p.m. on Saturday 3rd September, 2011 a male was walking through Cottonwood Street, Pinewood Gardens when he was approached by two (2) males, both of whom were allegedly armed with handguns, demanding cash. It is reported that the culprits robbed the man of an undisclosed amount of cash and jewelry and fled the area on foot in an unknown direction. Quick response by officers of the Southeastern Division resulted in the suspects confronting the police and opening fire on them while in the area of Sapodilla Boulevard, Pinewood Gardens. As a result the police returned fire which resulted in both suspects being shot. Officers recovered from the suspects a handgun along with a quantity of ammunition and cash, the property of the victim. Active police investigations continue.

Two Men Arrested For $25,000 Drug Shipment

On Friday 2nd September, 2011, officers at the Drug Enforcement Unit here on the island of Grand Bahama, are continuing their investigations regarding the arrest of two Jamaican Nationals during the later afternoon of Thursday 1st September, 2011. It was approximately 4:20pm yesterday, Thursday 1st September, 2011, while officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit were on patrol in Freeport in the area of Silver Point near the canal, when they arrested the two males, ages 26 and 28 years of Jamaica for possession of dangerous drugs namely marijuana. These men were taken into police custody along with two backpacks containing 12.5 lbs and 10.5 lbs respectively, totaling an estimate of 23.0 lbs of marijuana with an estimated street value of $25,000.00. The officers are commended for their vigilance and effort to remove illegal drugs from the streets of Grand Bahama.

Men Arrested For Gun After Robbery

Police arrested three (3) men at Ragged Island Street after searching their vehicle and discovering a number of stolen items. According to police reports around 11:20 pm on Thursday 01st September, 2011 police received information of an armed robbery at Marathon Road. Police responded and information received, that a male and female were at Marathon Road when they were approached by two men, one of whom was allegedly armed with a handgun. It is reported that the culprits robbed the two of an undetermined amount of cash and cell phones and fled the area in a Honda Civic. Acting on information police proceeded to Ragged Island Street where they located a vehicle fitting the description given. A search of the vehicle revealed a handgun, lap tops, cash and the cell phones. Active police investigations continue.

Police reports indicate that around 9:00 pm on Tuesday 30th August, 2011 officers of the Mobile Division acting on information uncovered a shotgun, in bushes west of Colony Village Road, on Prince Charles Drive No one was taken into custody. Four (4) Firearms Recovered In 24 Hours

In three separate incidents police arrested eleven (11) males and confiscated four (4) handguns between Friday 26th August, 2011 and Saturday 27th August, 2011.

The first arrest reportedly occurred shortly after 11:00 pm on Friday 26th August, 2011 off Soldier Road. According to police reports officers of Operation Rapid Strike were on routine patrol in the area of Sumner Street just north of Soldier Road when they observed two men, in a Honda vehicle, acting suspiciously. Officers conducted a search of the vehicle and recovered a handgun along with a quantity of ammunition. The two (2) men, ages 20 and 19 years, were arrested and taken into police custody.

The second arrest occurred around 2:30 pm on Saturday 27th August, 2011. According to police reports officers of the Mobile Division were on routine patrol on Soldier Road near Village Road when they observed a number of males, in a Dodge vehicle, acting suspiciously. Officers brought the vehicle to a stop and the officers observed the occupants throw two objects from the vehicle. A search of the area where the objects were thrown revealed two handguns and a quantity of ammunition. Six (6) adult males along with two (2) juveniles were arrested and taken into police custody.

The final arrest by police occurred around 6:30pm on Saturday 27th August, 2011 at Hospital. According to police reports, officers from the Central Division were on patrol on Hospital lane, when saw a male acting in a suspicious manner. Officers conducted a search of the male and discovered a handgun and a quantity of ammunition. The suspect a 46 year old of Farrington Road was subsequently arrested and taken into custody.

Reports indicate that shortly after 4:00pm on Saturday 20August 2011, officers from the Southwestern Division were on patrol on Spikenard Road off Carmichael Road, when they saw a male acting in a suspicious manner, upon seeing the officers the male attempted to flee, the officers give chase and caught up with the suspect who took a high powered firearm from his waist and threw it to the ground. Reports indicate that shortly after 7:00pm on Thursday 18th August 2011, officers from Operation Rapid Strike were on patrol on Taylor Street, when saw a male driving a white Honda accord vehicle with no license plate attached. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle however the vehicle sped off resulting in a short Pursuit, which ended in the area of Taylor and Honeycombe Street. The driver exited his vehicle and attempted to pull a weapon from his waist. Officers became fearful for their lives and as a result they withdrew their service weapon and shot the suspect in his right arm. Officers conducted a search of the suspect and found a handgun. The suspect was subsequently arrested and taken to hospital via EMS, where he is detained in stable condition under heavy police guard. Active police investigations continue.

DEU Makes Major Drug Bust

Two New Providence residents are being quizzed by Drug Enforcement Officers for a major drug seizure. Sometime after 8:00am on Thursday 18th August 2011, officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit were on patrol in western New Providence, when they observed a red f150 truck parked in a suspicious manner. The officers approached this vehicle and the occupants sped off. Officers pursued the vehicle through the Gambier Village area where three suspects fled through the bush. The driver continued and crashed on Prospect Ridge. Officers conducted a search of the truck and discovered over 500 lbs of suspected marijuana. As a result the driver a 29 year old man and a 42 year old man, both of New Providence, were arrested on preliminary charges of Possession of Dangerous Drugs and Possession of Dangerous Drugs with intent to Supply. The estimated value of the drugs is just over five hundred thousand dollars.

A 24 year old male of Dunmore Street spend the night in police custody, after he was arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm. Reports indicate that around 9:30pm on Tuesday 16th August 2011, officers from the Mobile Division were on patrol on Arundel Street, when saw a male acting in a suspicious manner, upon seeing the officers the male attempted to flee, the officers give chase and caught up with the suspect, the officers conducted a search of the suspect and found a handgun. The suspect was subsequently arrested and taken into custody.

Mobile: Two Arrested For Gun And Ammunition

The men, both age 26 years, were arrested sometime around 2:20 pm on Monday 15th August, 2011. According to police reports officers of the Mobile Division were on routine patrol on Zion Boulevard off Baillou Hill Road when they conducted a search of a green 2003 Honda Civic occupied by the men. The search by officers resulted in a handgun along with a quantity of ammunition being discovered under the front passenger seat of the car. Active police investigations continue.

Three Arrested For Firearm and Stolen Vehicle

Officers of the Mobile Division arrested a man and are actively seeking out a second male after they were found in possession of a stolen vehicle and a firearm. According to police reports sometime around 2:40 am on Sunday 14August, 2011 police received information that a green Honda Civic occupied by female passenger was stolen from Baillou Hill Road South in the area of Marshall Road. Police responded and while in the area of Marshall Road observed the vehicle occupied by two (2) males along with the female. Officers intercepted the vehicle, and while doing so observed the front passenger throw an object while running in an easterly direction on Marshall Road. Officers continued pursuit of the suspect; however, he was able to make good his escape. A check of the area where the suspect was observed throwing the object revealed a handgun. The driver of the vehicle, a 27 year old, was taken into custody. Active police investigations continue.

Three Men Arrested For Shotgun

On Saturday 13th August 2011, officers of the Central Intelligence Unit and the Central Detective Unit acting on information executed a search warrant on two (2) homes at Ferguson Way, Nassau Village. In the first home officers discovered a shotgun and in the second home a bullet proof vest along with an assortment of suspected stolen car parts which include windshields, hoods, fender, back trunks, doors and engines. As a result three (3) men ages, 31, 27 and 24 years, all residents of Nassau Village were taken into custody.

Man Arrested For Gun And Ammunition

Shortly after 9:00pm on Friday 5th August 2011, Officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit were on mobile patrol in the Williams Lane area, when they observed a male driver in a gold colored vehicle acting in a suspicious manner. On seeing the officers the driver sped off at a high rate of speed to an area on Williams Lane, where he brought the vehicle to a stop. The officers gave chase and observed when driver threw an object to the ground. The officers uncovered the object from the ground, which turned out to be a handgun with ammunition. The driver a 25 year old of New Providence was then arrested for being in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

Shortly before 8:00pm on Thursday 4August 2011, Detectives from the Central Detective Unit were on patrol on Step Street, Fox Hill, when they observed a 23 year old male of New Providence acting in a suspicious manner. Shortly after 12 noon on Thursday 4August, 2011 police were on mobile patrol on Chennile Avenue, Garden Hills, when they observed two men in a Nissan Maxima vehicle, acting in a suspicious manner. One of men on seeing the police exited the vehicle and attempted to run away. The police gave chased and saw when this suspect took an object from his waist and threw it to the ground. Three Guns Taken Off Streets Overnight

In three separate incidents police arrested five (5) males and confiscated three (3) handguns on Saturday 30th July, 2011.

The first arrest reportedly occurred sometime around 2:05 am at Montel Heights. According to police reports, officers of the Drug Enforcement Unit were on routine patrol in the area of Ethel Street, Montell Heights when they arrested two (2) men, ages 29 and 24 years, after they were found in possession of a handgun along with a quantity of ammunition.

The second arrest occurred sometime around 4:30 am at Nassau Street, north of Meadow Street. Preliminary police reports indicate that officers of the Selective Enforcement Team were on routine patrol in the area of Nassau Street when they observed a male acting suspiciously. Officers conducted a search of the male and recovered a handgun along with a quantity of ammunition. The 16 year old was taken into custody. Active police investigations continue.

The final arrest by police occurred around 5:13 am in the area of the Village Road round about by officers of the Traffic Division. According to police reports officers of the Traffic Division arrested a 33 year old and a 17 year old, after they were found in possession of a handgun and ammunition. Five (5) men are in police custody after Drug Enforcement Officers uncovered a large quantity of assorted ammunition and a quantity of suspected marijuana. According to police reports Drug Enforcement Officers acting on information conducted a search of a container at Arawak Cay and discovered over eight hundred (800) rounds of assorted ammunition. As a result two (2) men, ages 30 and 22 years, were taken into custody. A short while later, officers conducted a search of the residence of the men and discovered a quantity of suspected marijuana. According to police reports, shortly before 3:00 pm on Saturday 16th July, 2011 officers of the Mobile Division acting on information proceeded to Bruce Avenue where they observed a male acting suspiciously. It is reported that the officers approached the male, conducted a search of him and discovered a quantity of suspected marijuana, along with a handgun and ammunition. It is further reported that as the officers attempted to arrest the suspect, a group of men from the area prevented the arrest, which resulted in the suspect evading capture. On Saturday 25th June 2011 sometime after 4pm officers of the Mobile Division, Grand Bahama, while on patrol in the RND Plaza situated on East Mall Drive,acting on information received made a check of a 1997 Gold Buick Century vehicle, occupied by two suspicious male occupants. A search of said vehicle was conducted and handgun with ammunition was found, along with a brown paper bag containing a quantity of white powdery substance believed to be cocaine. As a result a 27 year old of Bahamia Arms and a 37 year old of Hunters were arrested for questioning reference to this matter.

Mobile Makes Firearm And Drug Arrest

In two separate incidents, officers of the Mobile Division arrested five (5) men reference to firearm and drugs. In the first incident, four (4) men spent the night in police custody after they were found in possession of a handgun while in Montel Heights.

According to police reports shortly before 4:00 pm on Tuesday 21June, 2011 officers were on routine patrol in the Montell Heights area when they observed a Nissan vehicle occupied by the males acting suspiciously.It is reported that one of the males on seeing the officers threw an object from the vehicle and sped off. A short while later police caught up with the vehicle, which was occupied by the men ages, 32, 24,23, and 18 years. A search of the area where the object was thrown revealed a handgun and ammunition.

In the second incident, a 22 year old male of Fox Hill was arrested after he was found in possession of a quantity of suspected Marijuana. Officers of the Mobile Division made the arrest sometime around 7:00 pm on Tuesday 21June, 2011 while in the area of Fox Hill Road south. Active police investigations into both matters continue

On Saturday 18th June 2011, officers of the Mobile Division while patrol observed two males in a vehicle acting suspiciously. Police: 112 Persons Arrested, 324 Cited

Officers of the Royal Bahamas Police Force continue to remain steadfast to the cause in making this Bahamas a safer place to live, work, visit and play. During the holiday weekend officers arrested one hundred and twelve (112)people, ninety-eight (98) adult males, six (6) adult females and eight (8) juvenile males for offences such as: Murder, Attempted Murder, Possession of unlicensed firearm, Possession of Dangerous Drugs, Threats of Death, Unlawfully carrying arms, Extortion, Loitering, Causing Harm, Shop breaking, Armed Robbery and Conspiracy to commit armed robbery.
Special operations conducted by the Central Division, Southern Division and the Central Detective Unit contributed to this record breaking number of arrests. Officers from throughout New Providence also cited three hundred and twenty- four (324) drivers for various traffic infractions and placed two hundred and seventy-four (274) matters before the Magistrate Courts. Some of the offences for which motorist were cited include: failing to stop in obedience to the traffic light, Unlicensed and Uninspected vehicle, Driving on a Closed Street, Failing to keep left, Insecure Load, Failing to notify change of ownership and Failure to have windows of transparent view.

During the weekend police on Grand Bahama arrested twenty-one (21) people, eighteen (18) adult males, one (1) adult female and two (2) juveniles males for various offences which include: House-breaking, Stealing, Causing Grievous Harm, Disorderly Behavior, Stolen Vehicle, Receiving, Unlawfully Carrying Arms, and Vagrancy. Two (2) of the males arrested were for Outstanding Warrant of Arrest issued by the Magistrate's Courts.

The Commissioner of Police wishes to thank the hardworking officers of the various Policing Divisions throughout New Providence, including the officers of the Traffic Division and Grand Bahama for their diligence and commitment during the Holiday Weekend.

DEU Makes Drug Arrest

Officers of the Drug Enforcement Unit arrested a male after a quantity of suspected marijuana was found inside his home. Police reports indicate that shortly after 1:00pm on Monday 13June, 2011 officers of the Drug Enforcement Unit executed a search warrant on the home at Fox Hill Road south and uncovered from a suitcase a quantity of suspected marijuana. The 33 year old male, believed to be Jamaican national, was taken into custody. Active police investigations continue.

Rapid Strike Arrest Man For Gun And Ammunition

Officers of Rapid Strike arrested a male after he was found in possession of a handgun and ammunition. Officers reportedly arrested the 30 year old sometime around 11:15 pm on Saturday 11June, 2011. Police reports indicate that officers of Rapid Strike were on routine patrol in the Peardale area, when they heard gunshots being discharged. Officers proceeded to the area where they heard the gunshots and observed a male in a blue pants and blue shirt with a handgun. The male, a resident of Minnie Street, along with the handgun and ammunition was taken into custody. Active police investigations continue.

Rapid Strike Recovers Firearm

Officers of Rapid Strike removed a shotgun with shotgun shells from the streets of New Providence early this morning. The discovery was made around 12:30 am on Saturday 11 June, 2011 at a parking lot at St. James Road. Police reports indicate that while on patrol in the St. James Road and Abraham Street area, officers of Rapid Strike conducted a search of the five (5) Star Bar parking lot and discovered the shotgun and its shells. Pair Arrested For Drugs And Firearm

Officers of the Southeastern Division took into custody a male and a female after a quantity of drugs and a weapon was found inside their Nassau Village home. Police reports indicate that sometime around 2:25am on Thursday 9 June 2011, officers of the Southeastern Division executed a search warrant on a home at Matthew Street, Nassau Village where they discovered a quantity of suspected marijuana along with an imitation firearm. The occupants of the home, a 53 year old female and a 30 year old male, were taken into custody. Police investigations continue.

GB: Man Arrested For Gun And Ammunition

On Sunday 5th June 2011 at about 12:15am, officers of the Central Detective Unit in Grand Bahama reported that while in the area of Weddell Avenue, they observed a male acting suspiciously. The male was then approached and searched where a handgun and a quantity of ammunition was recovered. He was arrested and taken into custody. Police investigations continues.

Man Arretsed For Gun And Ammunition

Officers of the Grove Police Station arrested a 28 year old male of Pinewood Gardens after he was found in possession of a handgun and ammunition. The arrest reportedly occurred sometime around 1:00 am on Monday 6th June, 2011. Preliminary reports indicate that officers of the Grove Police Station, acting on information proceeded to Tonique Williams Darling Highway where they observed a male acting suspiciously. It is reported that the male on seeing the police ran and was observed throwing an object into nearby bushes. Officers pursued the male, caught up with him and conducted a search of the area where the object was thrown and recovered a handgun and ammunition. Police investigations into both matters continue.

Mobile: Man Arrested For Handgun And Ammunition

Sometime around 10:10 pm on Sunday 5th June, 2011 officers of the Mobile Division acting on information proceeded to Graham Drive, Yellow Elder Gardens where they observed a male acting suspiciously. It is reported that as the officers approached the suspect, he produced a firearm and fired gunshots in the direction of the officers. Police returned fire and later arrested the suspect without injuries. Police recovered a handgun along with a quantity of ammunition from the Graham Drive resident.

Quantity Of Ammunition Recovered In Eleuthera

Increased police presence and vigilance at the Deep Creek Homecoming Festival resulted in officers discovering a quantity of ammunition. Preliminary reports indicate that sometime around 10:30 pm on Friday 3rd June, 2011 police performing duties in the parking lot at the Deep Creek Homecoming Festival observed a male wearing a tam and all black clothing, acting suspiciously. It is reported that as the officers approached the man, the suspect dropped an object and fled the area into nearby bushes where he made his escape. Officers conducted a search of the area where the suspect was seen to have dropped the object and recovered a bag containing a quantity of ammunition. Active police investigations continue.

Pair Arrested For Shotgun

Officers of the Central Divisional Detective Unit, accompanied by officers of the Central Detective Unit and Northeastern Division (Wulff Road Police Station) took two males into custody after they were found in possession of shotgun. Preliminary police reports indicate that the incident occurred sometime around 2:35 am on Saturday 4June, 2011. Officers of the Central Divisional Detective Unit were on routine patrol at the junction of Mount Royal Avenue and Wulff Road when they observed a white Ford Taurus, with one headlamp, occupied by two males acting suspiciously. Officers pursued the vehicle and caught up with the occupants on Lincoln Boulevard where they conducted a search of the vehicle and recovered a shotgun and an additional set of license plates, along with a pair of gloves. It is reported that as the officers conducted a search of the vehicle the driver, age 20 years, attempted to disarm one of the officers and was subsequently shot by police to the thigh. The suspect was taken to hospital via EMS personnel where he remains in police custody, in stable condition. The second occupant, a 17 year old juvenile male was also taken into custody. Officers of the Mobile Division acting on information uncovered an imitation firearm, a bullet proof vest along with a quantity of ammunition in the Rock Crusher area. Police reports indicate that officers uncovered the items sometime around 6:30pm on Friday 03rd May, 2011 from a bushy area on Lightbourne Avenue. No one was taken into custody. Armed Robber Arrested. Cash And Handgun Recovered

Sometime around 4:45 pm on Thursday 02June, 2011 police received information of an armed robbery at Nassau Paper Company, Carib Road off Jerome Avenue. Police responded and on arrival to the establishment met the bandit in the process of robbing the store. It is reported that the suspect, who was wearing a bullet proof vest, on seeing the police fired gunshots at them. Police returned fire which resulted in the suspect receiving gunshot injuries to the hand and thigh. The suspect was taken to hospital via EMS personnel where he was treated and discharged; however, he remains in police custody. Police recovered from the resident of Strachan's Alley, a handgun along with an undisclosed amount of cash, believed to be the property of Nassau Paper Company. DEU Arrest Man For Gun And Ammunition

Officers of the Drug Enforcement Unit arrested three (3) males after they were found in possession of a handgun and ammunition. Preliminary police reports indicate that sometime around 10:10 pm on Thursday 02nd June, 2011 officers of the Drug Enforcement Unit were on routine patrol in the area of Hampton Street and Mount Royal Avenue when they observed three (3) males acting suspiciously. It is reported that one of the males on seeing the officers was observed throwing an object into a nearby building. Officers conducted a search of the building and recovered a handgun with ammunition. The men, two ages 36 years and the other age 34 years, were taken into custody. Eleuthera Police Recovers Two (2) Fireams

Around 6pm on Monday 30th, May 2011 officers at Eleuthera acting on information proceeded to a bushy area between Cape Eleuthera and Deep Creek where they recovered two shot guns, a large quantity of shot gun shells as well as two magazines for high powered weapon. 647 Pounds of Marijuana Seized By DEU

Officers of the Drug Enforcement Unit along with officers of the Bimini District in a joint operation at South Bimini arrested three (3) males and seized twenty-three (23) crocus sack bags of suspected marijuana. Officers made the arrest sometime around 7:30 am on Friday 27th May, 2011 at South Bimini. During the incident it is believed that a boating accident occurred which resulted in a 36 year old male of Sandilands Village Road being killed. The drugs have a street value of six hundred and forty seven thousand dollars ($647,000.00) and have been flown into the capital. In reference to this incident the victim has been identified as 36 year old ANTHONY GIBSON of SANDILANDS VILLAGE ROAD. Police investigations continue.

Chippingham Man Arrested For Gun And Ammunition

Officers of the Southern Division arrested a 31 year old male after he was found in possession of a handgun. The arrest reportedly occurred around 3:30 am on Sunday 29th May, 2011. Preliminary reports indicate that officers of the Southern Division were on routine patrol on Nassau Street in the area of Bain Street when they observed a male acting suspiciously. It is reported that the culprit on seeing the officers threw an object beneath a nearby vehicle. Officers conducted a search of the area beneath the vehicle and recovered a handgun and ammunition. The male, a resident of Church Hill Avenue, Chippingham was taken into custody. Police investigations continue.

Rapid Strike: Handgun Recovered. 3 Arrested.

Officers of Rapid Strike took three (3) men into custody after recovering a handgun. Police reports indicate that shortly after midnight on Saturday 28May, 2011 officers of Rapid Strike were on routine patrol on Sequoia Street, Pinewood Gardens when they observed the occupants of a black Toyota Tercel, acting suspiciously. It is reported that the driver on seeing the police, sped off. Officers pursued the vehicle and observed one of the men throw an object from it. Officers intercepted the vehicle, conducted a search of the area where the object was thrown and recovered a handgun. The men ages 19, 20 and 27 years were taken into custody.Active police investigations continue.

Sometime around 11:25 pm on Monday 23rd May, 2011 officers of the Drug Enforcement Unit acting on information proceeded to Old Cedar Street, Yellow Elder Gardens. On arrival officers observed three men at the rear of a vehicle acting suspiciously. It is reported that the males on seeing the officers fled into nearby bushes. Officers perused the culprits and observed one of the men dropping an object. The officers caught up with the suspect, conducted a search of the area where they observed the suspect dropping and object and recovered a handgun. Officers also conducted a search of the vehicle which the men were standing behind and recovered a quantity of ammunition. The 22 year old male of Old Cedar Street was taken into custody. Officers of the Central Detective Unit arrested a 40 year old male after being found in possession of firearm and ammunition The arrest reportedly occurred around 4:40 pm on Monday 23rd May, 2011. Preliminary reports indicate that the officers were on routine patrol in the Dowdeswell Street area when they observed the male acting suspiciously. Officers conducted a search of the male and recovered a handgun along with a quantity of ammunition. The male, a resident of Essex Street off Shirley Street was taken into custody. Officers of Rapid Strike executed a search warrant on a residence at Jumbey Street, Pinewood Gardens and recovered a quantity of ammunition and suspected marijuana. Initial reports indicate that the search warrant was executed sometime around 8:30 pm on Friday 20May, 2011. As a result, two men ages, 23 and 28 years were taken into custody. A few hours later, after issuing eleven (11) citations for various traffic offences and arresting two males, officers recovered a handgun from Potter's Cay Dock. Police reports indicate that sometime around 10:15pm on Friday 20th May, 2011 officers were at Potter's Cay Dock when they observed a tall slim male in the area of a stack of pallets acting suspiciously. It is reported that the culprit on seeing the officers fled and was observed throwing an object into the pallets. The suspect was able to evade police; however, police conducted a search of the area and recovered a handgun. Active police investigations continue.

Officers of the Mobile Division arrested a 38 year old male after he was found in possession of a handgun and ammunition. Police reports indicate that sometime around 10:20 am on Saturday 21st May, 2011 officers of the Mobile Division acting on information went to the Baillou Hill playing fields when they observed a male acting suspiciously. It is reported that the culprit on seeing the officers ran behind a building and was observed throwing an object into nearby bushes. Officers pursued the suspect,who was subsequently arrested after officers conducted a search of the bushes and recovered a handgun with ammunition.

On Thursday 19th May, 2011 sometime around 5:15 pm when officers of the Mobile Division acting on information proceeded to Melvern Road, Yellow Elder Gardens where they observed a male acting suspiciously. Police reports indicate that as the officers approached the male, the suspect produced a handgun and pointed it in the direction of the officers while running towards the rear of a home. Police continued their pursuit, caught up with the 28 year old; who is presently on bail for Armed Robbery and Causing Harm, and recovered a handgun along with a quantity of ammunition.

Officers of Rapid Strike arrested four males, at a home on Union Village off Wulff Road after finding a handgun, ammunition and drugs. Preliminary reports indicate that sometime around 5:45 pm on Wednesday 18th May, 2011 officers of Rapid Strike executed a search warrant on the home at Union Village where they recovered the handgun along with a quantity of ammunition and drugs. Acting on information, officers of the Mobile Division recovered two handguns and a quantity of ammunition, from Arawak Cay, yesterday afternoon. Police reports indicate that sometime around 4:20 pm on Wednesday 18th May, 2011 officers of the Mobile Division acting on a tip went to the Western End of Arawak Cay where they discovered the weapons along with a quantity of ammunition. 15 Year Old Arrested For Handgun

Shortly before 6:00pm on Tuesday 17th May, 2011 police received information of gunshots being heard in the area of the Baillou Hill Sporting Complex, Yellow Elder Gardens. Police also received information that two men, one wearing a blue shirt and long black pants and the other, who was the driver of a Grey Honda Accord, were responsible for the gunshots being discharged. Officers of the Mobile, Internal Security and the Traffic Divisions responded; however, it was officers of the Traffic Division that observed and stopped the vehicle which was being driven by a male on Derby Road in Yellow Elder Gardens. The officers conducted a search of the vehicle and recovered a handgun. The driver of the vehicle, a 15 year old male of Old Cedar Way, Yellow Elder Gardens was taken into custody. Mobile: Man Arrested For Shotgun And Ammunition

Officers of the Mobile Division have taken into custody a 39 year old male after he was found in possession of an unlicensed shotgun. Police reports indicate that shortly before 5:00 pm on Tuesday 17th May, 2011 officers of the Mobile Division acting on information went to the parking lot of a business establishment at Market Street where they observed a male sitting inside a red Ford F-150 truck acting suspiciously. Officers approached the male conducted a search of the truck and recovered a shotgun along with a quantity of shotgun shells and suspected marijuana. The driver, a 39 year old male of Bellot Road was taken into custody. Active police investigations continue.

Officers of the Internal Security Division (ISD) recovered a handgun over the past weekend at Potters Cay, Dock. Police reports indicate that around 8:45 am on Saturday 14th May, 2011 officers of the ISD acting on information conducted a search of the Motor Vessel Fiesta which was moored at Potters Cay Dock and recovered a handgun and ammunition. Police reports indicate that sometime around 10:10 pm on Monday 16th May, 2011 officers were at Palm Beach Court, Montell Heights when they observed three (3) males acting suspiciously. It is reported that the males on seeing the officers fled into nearby bushes. Officers pursued the men where they were able to evade police. A search of the area by the officers revealed two (2) handguns and a quantity of ammunition. Active police investigations continue.

Massive Drug Seizure By OPBAT

Officers of Operation Bahamas and Turks & Caicos based in Exuma recovered a quantity of suspected marijuana at Ragged Island. Preliminary reports indicate that around 7:00 am on Monday 16th May, 2011 officers of OPBAT acting on information went to Buena Vista Cay, located within the Ragged Island Chain, where they recovered thirty-eight (38) packages of suspected marijuana. The drugs weigh three hundred and forty-two (342) pounds and have a street value of three hundred and forty-two thousand ($342,000.000) dollars. No one was taken into custody. On Sunday 15-4-2011, police officers in Freeport Grand Bahama were on mobile patrol in the area of Avis Car Rental, Airport Road when they stopped a vehicle that was driven by a male who was acting in a suspicious manner. A search of his vehicle was conducted, where a firearm and ammunition were recovered. The male suspect was subsequently arrested for possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition. Officers of the Central Detective Unit have taken into custody 21 year old Devron Patterson. On Friday 13May, 2011 officers issued a Wanted Bulletin for the suspect in connection with the Murder of Andrich Charles, age 26 years of Joe Farrington Road. The incident reportedly occurred shortly before 9:00 am on Friday 13 May, 2011 at Bull Dog Alley off Gibbs Corner. The suspect was arrested sometime around 3:12 pm on Saturday 14 May, 2011 at his Masons Addition residence.

Officers of Rapid Strike removed another firearm from the streets of New Providence overnight. The recovery was made around 11:00 pm on Saturday 14May, 2011 at Foxdale Subdivision. Preliminary reports indicate that the officers were on routine patrol on Mosquito Drive when they observed a male attending a party, acting suspiciously. It is reported that the male on seeing the officers fled. Officers gave chase and observed the suspect dropping an object. Officer gave chase; however, the suspect was able to evade police. Officers conducted a search of the area where the suspect was observed dropping an object and recovered a handgun and ammunition. Active police investigations continue.

Officers of the Mobile Division recovered two (2) firearms last evening from the rear of a Garden Hills Estates Park. Police report indicate that sometime around 7:20 pm on Sunday 8May, 2011 officers of the Mobile Division acting on information proceeded to the park at Garden Hills Estates East where they observed two males, one wearing a short jeans pants and a white t-shirt and the other a black cap with a black shirt with an object in his hand. It is reported that the men on seeing the officers fled through nearby bushes. Officers gave chase; however, the men were able to evade police. A search of the area by officers revealed a handgun with ammunition along with a shotgun. Active police investigations continue.

Rapid Strike Arrest Four For Gun And Ammunition

Police are questioning four (4) people, two (2) males and two (2) females reference to a handgun.Police report indicate that sometime around 1:45 am on Monday 9 May, 2011 officers of Rapid Strike were on routine patrol on Royal Palm Street off Montrose Avenue when they observed a maroon Chevy Cavalier occupied by four (4) people acting suspiciously. Officers conducted a search of the vehicle and recovered a handgun with ammunition. The men ages 25 and 24 years and the females ages 18 and 19 years were taken into custody. Man Arrested For Gun At SACORAMA

Officers of the Fox Hill Police Station arrested a 21 year male after he was found in possession of a handgun. The arrest reportedly took place shortly before 11:00pm on Saturday 7May, 2011 at the annual SACORAMA event, held at St. Augustine's College, Bernard Road. Officers of the Fox Hill Police Station were performing duties at SACORAMA when they observed male wearing dark clothing, throw and object into nearby bushes. Officers conducted a search of the area where they object was thrown and recovered a handgun with ammunition. The Kemp Road resident was taken into custody. Police investigations continue. Officers of the Southeastern Division have taken four (4) people, two males and two females into custody reference to firearms, ammunition and drugs. The arrest occurred around 5:30pm on Friday 6 May, 2011 at Buttonwood Street, Pinewood Gardens. Officers of the Southwestern Division acting on information went to Buttonwood Street where they observed a male acting suspiciously. The male on seeing the officers fled into a nearby building where he was observed throwing an object outside. Officers conducted a search of the area where the object was thrown and recovered a handgun and ammunition. Officers also conducted a search of the building and recovered additional ammunition, along with quantity of suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Two (2) Men Arrested For Two (2) Guns And Ammunition

Officers of the Mobile Division arrested two males at Faith Avenue South after conducting a search of their vehicle and finding two handguns and ammunition. It was around 2:50pm on Friday 6th May, 2011 that officers of the Mobile Division were on routine patrol at Faith Avenue South when they observed a green Honda vehicle occupied by two males acting suspiciously. The men, ages 26 years and 27 years, both of whom are known to police were taken into custody.

Officers of the Northeastern Division arrested a 34 year male after he was found in possession of a handgun and ammunition. The arrest reportedly took place on Wednesday 4 May, 2011 sometime around 11:34 am while officers of the Northeastern Division were on patrol in the area of Miami and Homestead Streets. Police at Andros are questioning a 41 year old male after discovering a marijuana growing operation in Nicholls Town, Andros. Officers of North Andros executed a search warrant on the home shortly after 2:00pm on Friday 29th April, 2011 and seized eighty (80) marijuana plants. The drugs have an estimated street value of eighty thousand ($80,000.00) dollars. The suspect is expected to appear in court sometime during this week. Police investigations continue.

Rapid Strike Recovers Firearm And Ammunition

A handgun was recovered by officers of Rapid Strike on patrol last evening. Reports are that at about 10:15 pm on Saturday 30th April, 2011 officers of Rapid Strike were patrolling the area of East Street and Wulff Road when they observed a group of men acting suspiciously. The men on seeing the officers fled. Officers gave chase and observed one of the males dropping an object. Officers conducted a search of the area where the object was observed to be dropped and recovered a handgun and ammunition. The men were able to evade police. 56 Year Old Woman Arrested For Gun And Drugs

Around 3:30pm on Friday 29th April, 2011, officers of the Southern Division acting on information received, executed a search warrant at a home on Brougham Street for illegal firearms and drugs. During the search the officers found a handgun with ammunition and a quantity of suspected marijuana. As a result, a 56 year old female resident was taken into custody. Benson Pierre a 26 year old male of the same address is being sought by police in connection with this matter. Police at Grand Bahama uncovered several marijuana fields in Eastern Grand Bahama. Officers of the Grand Bahama Drug Enforcement Unit made the discovery around 3:00 am on Friday 29th April, 2011 while on routine patrol in Eastern Grand Bahama. Officers recovered around fifteen thousand (15,000) marijuana plants ranging in height from 2 ft - 4 ft. The drugs have an estimated street value of 1.5 million

Officers of Rapid Strike continue to rid the streets of New Providence of illegal firearms. It was around 1:30 am on Saturday 30th April, 2011 that officers of Rapid Strike executed a search warrant on Ed White's bar located at Step Street, Fox Hill. Police have arrested a male for questioning reference to the murder of DeCoyo McKenzie which occurred around 11:00 pm on Thursday 14th April, 2011. Initial reports indicate that the victim was in front of a residence at Cordeaux Avenue and Minnie Street when he was shot and killed by two men both of whom were armed with handguns.

Police Quick Response Nabs Robber

Police quick response have resulted in a 33 year old male being arrested. The incident unfolded shortly before 2:00pm on Thursday 21st April, 2011 when police received information that a female purse was snatched from her while at Kentucky Fried Chicken drive through window, West Bay Street. Police quick responses nabbed the suspect after he exited a black Nissan Maxima on Bethel Avenue. Police pursued the suspect on foot and caught up with him at the rear of Burger King, Tonique Williams Darling Highway. A search of the vehicle abandoned by the suspect revealed the female purse. Mobile Division Arrest Two For Firearm

Officers of the Mobile Division took into custody two males, ages 21 and 29 years after being found in possession of a handgun and ammunition. The incident occurred shortly before 1:00 pm on Thursday 21st April, 2011 while officers were on routine patrol in the area of Poinciana Avenue and Sixth (6) Street, Coconut Grove. Officers reportedly observed a white Nissan Maxima occupied by two males acting suspiciously and attempted to stop the vehicle; however, the driver sped off at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was pursued by officers and eventually brought to a stop on Market Street where officers recovered a handgun and ammunition. Active police investigations continue into the matter.

Officers of the Mobile Division too have removed another firearm from the streets of New Providence. The officers were on routine patrol in the Pinewood Gardens area, on Wednesday 20th April, 2011 at about 7:15 pm when they observed two males riding a motorbike acting suspiciously. Officers brought the bike to a stop, conducted a search of the males and recovered a handgun and ammunition. The two men ages, 23 and 20 years were taken into custody. Sometime around 7:15pm on Wednesday 20 April 2011, officers went to the junction of Hawthorne Road and Warren Street where they saw a group of men acting in a suspicious manner. One of the men was then observed to have dropped a hat from his hand. The hat was later recovered, which when examined contained a quantity of suspected marijuana. The male was subsequently arrested and detained. Charges are expected to follow.

Rapid Strike Recovers Handgun With Ammunition

Shortly before 11:00pm Sunday 17th April 2011, Police received information of gunshots being fired in the Montell Heights area. Officers from Operation Rapid Strike responded and saw a suspicious male, who ran on seeing the officers. The officers gave chase behind the male suspect who pulled an object from his waist and threw it to the ground. Officers retrieved the object from the ground and discovered it to be a handgun with ammunition. The suspect made good his escape by jumping a fence. DEU Officers Makes Major Drug Bust

Two New Providence residents are being quizzed by Drug Enforcement Officers for a major drug seizure. Drug Enforcement Officers Unit (DEU) Officers went to a residence on Blake Road, shortly before midnight on Friday 15th April 2011, where they executed a search warrant for dangerous drugs. During the search, DEU Officers discovered over 1,200 lbs of suspected marijuana and over 400 lbs of hashish oil. As a result, a 29 year old man and a 52 year old man, both of New Providence, were arrested on preliminary charges of possession of Possession of Dangerous Drugs and Possession of Dangerous Drugs with intent to Supply. The estimated value of the drugs is just over two (2) million dollars

Police Nabs Most Wanted Female Drug Suspect

A 29 year old New Providence Woman, who has been on Police Most Wanted list for the past three years is now in Custody. Shortly before 5:00pm on Friday 15th, April 2011, officers of the Drug Enforcement Unit, acting on information received, went to a residence in west New Providence, where they arrested the woman, who is wanted for two large drugs and a firearm seizure in 2008.

Shortly after 11:00pm on Friday 15th, April 2011, Police of the Northeastern Division executed a search warrant at the Windsor Lane residence of a 20 year old Man, where they executed a search warrant for dangerous drugs. During the search Police found 14 small packages of marijuana and a small amount of cash believed to be derived from the sale of dangerous drugs.

Grand Bahama: Man Shot And Arrested For Gun And Ammunition

On Thursday 14th April, 2011 at about 3:20 am, officers at the Central Detective Unit in Grand Bahama were on mobile patrol in the area of Boulevard Service Station at Summerville Drive and East Sunrise Highway, when they observed a man in possession of what appeared to be an assault rifle. A confrontation between the male suspect and the police ensued resulting in the suspect being shot in the leg. He was later arrested and a rifle along with a quantity of ammunition was recovered. Increased Police Visibility: Apprehension of Murder and Firearm Suspects

The Commissioner of Police along with his Executive Management Team, wish to advise the public, the rank and file of the organization, including Police Reservists and Police Civilians to remain diligent, vigilant and committed to the war on crime.

During the past 96 hours the Royal Bahamas Police Force increased its visibility in a number of areas throughout New Providence, targeting known criminal offenders, persons wanted on warrant-of-arrest, as well as visiting "hot spots", all in an effort to curtail the country's escalating crime problem.

As a result of the increased visibility, eight (8) males and one (1) female have been taken into custody for firearm possession. Additionally, during the 96 hours ten (10) illegal firearms were removed from the streets of New Providence.

In addition to the firearm arrests, police have made a significant arrest in connection with a recent murder in Nassau Village. In regards to this matter, a 20 year old male of Malcolm Allotment is being questioned. Additionally, this male is being questioned with reference to possession of an unlicensed firearm and a stolen vehicle.

The Commissioner of Police wish to thank all officers for their commitment and dedication to the country, in particular , he would like to express gratitude to the officers of Rapid Strike, Mobile Division, Traffic Division and the Central Detective Unit for their courageous efforts during the past 96 hours.

Handgun And Ammunition Recovered As Suspect Flees

Sometime around 12:10 am on Sunday 10th April, 2011 police received information that gunshots were being discharged at Balfour Avenue and Miami Street. Police responded and on arrival observed a male wearing a white t-shirt and blue jeans pants acting suspiciously. The male on seeing the police fled while producing a handgun and firing at police. Officers gave chase and observed the culprit dropping the weapon. The handgun along with ammunition was recovered; however, the culprit was able to make good escape. Sometime around 11:13 pm on Saturday 9th April, 2011 officers of Rapid Strike were on routine patrol in the Mason's Addition area when they observed two males on a moped acting suspiciously. On seeing the officers, one of the males jumped off the moped and was observed throwing an object to the ground. Officers pursued the suspect, caught up with him and conducted a search of the area where the object was thrown and recovered a handgun. Both men ages 19 and 17 years were taken into custody. Sometime around 11:05 am on Saturday 9th April, 2011 officers of the Mobile Division were on routine patrol on St. Albans Drive off West Bay Street when they observed a gray Honda vehicle occupied by three people, two (2) males and a female acting suspiciously. On seeing the officers, the driver sped off. Officers pursued the car which came to a stop in the area of the St. Albans Drive East. Here, one of the males exited the vehicle and was observed throwing an object beneath a nearby car. Officers conducted a search of the area where the object was thrown and recovered a handgun with ammunition. The three people ages 28, 29 and 30 years were taken into custody. Sometime around 6:00 pm on Friday 8th April, 2011 officers of the Traffic Division were conducting road checks at the junction of Allen Drive and Fire Trail Road when they observed the operator of a beige and white 2009 Honda CBR 600 motorcycle L/P 2244 with a knapsack acting suspiciously. Officers pursued the suspect who, a short time later crashed into a vehicle at Allen Drive. The suspect dropped his knapsack and made good his escape on foot. Officers retrieved the backpack, conducted a search of it and recovered two handguns with a quantity of ammunition. Police investigations continue.

Sometime around 7:00 am on Friday 8th April, 2011 officers of the Andros District acting on information proceeded to San Andros Airport where they observed three (3) people, a male and two females exit a vehicle. Officers conducted a search of the females, one of whom is believed to a Jamaican national and recovered a small amount of cash. Officers also conducted search of the male who was carrying a travel bag and recovered thirty-two (32) packages of suspected marijuana along with an undisclosed amount of cash. Sometime around 1:45 pm on Friday 8th April, 2011 officers of the Security Intelligence Branch acting on information proceeded to an abandon house at Carew Street off Mount Royal Avenue where they observed a male acting suspiciously. Officers conducted a search of the building and recovered a handgun with ammunition as well as a quantity of suspected marijuana. A 19 year old male of Yellow Elder Gardens was taken into custody. Handgun And Ammunition Recovered After Brief Car Chase

Sometime around 2:10 am Friday 8th April, 2011 police received information that persons were attempting to steal a vehicle at Twynam Heights off Prince Charles Drive. Police responded and on arrival observed a gold Honda Inspire occupied by two (2) males fleeing from the area. Officers pursued the vehicle which eventually crashed on Prince Charles Drive east off Jean Street. One of the suspects was able to evade police; however a second suspect produced a handgun and was subsequently shot by police to the ankle. The suspect, who was wanted by police, was taken to hospital where he remain in police custody in stable condition. The handgun along with a quantity of ammunition was recovered from the 20 year old of Malcolm Allotment. Police investigations continue.

Men Arrested With Gun And Ammunition

On Sunday 3/4/11 at about 4:10 am, an anonymous caller reported that the occupants of a blue colored jeep discharged a fire arm in the vicinity of Pirates of Nassau and drove off at a high rate of speed. The mentioned vehicle was later stopped by police officers where a search of the vehicle was conducted and a .25 browning pistol with a single ammunition in the magazine was found. The occupants of the vehicle were all arrested. Police investigations continue.

Shot Gun And Ammunition Found In Vehicle

On Sunday 3/4/11 at about 12:35 am, an anonymous caller contacted the police and reported that a vehicle was observed at Potters Cay Dock with what looked like a high powered weapon on the inside. Units were dispatched to the area to investigate, however officers observed the vehicle leaving. The vehicle was eventually stopped and a search was conducted of the vehicle and a 12 gauge shot gun with (9) un-spent shot gun shells was found. The driver and lone occupant of the vehicle was arrested.

Rapid Strike: $49,000 Worth Of Drugs Found

On Wednesday 30/3/11, sometime around 5:00 pm, officers of Rapid strike acting on information proceeded to an apartment at McKinney Drive off Carmichael Road where they observed a male placing a duffel bag into the back trunk of a white Chevy Equinox. Officers pursued the jeep onto Rock Pine Road, where the vehicle was brought to a stop. Officers conducted a search of the jeep and recovered thirty (30) packages of suspected marijuana weighing thirty-seven (37) pounds. The driver, a 39 year old male was taken into custody. At about 5:40 pm same date officers executed a search warrant on the apartment at McKinney Drive and recovered and additional ten (10) packages of suspected marijuana weighing twelve (12) pounds. Two (2) males both age 36 years were taken into custody. The drugs in total weigh forty-nine (49) pounds and have a street value of forty nine (49,000.00) thousand dollars. Armed Robber Killed. Handgun Recovered.

On Thursday 24/3/11 sometime around 3:50 pm, police received information of a shooting at Baillou Hill Road South. Police responded and discovered a male with gunshot injuries to the upper body. It is reported that another male entered the Klassy Collections Boutique, Baillou Hill Road South inquiring to purchase items. It is further reported that while inside the establishment the suspect produced a handgun and fired gunshots at the male employee which resulted in the male employee producing his licensed shotgun and returning fire at the suspect. This suspect then fled. Additionally, it is reported that a second suspect who stood at the entrance door of the establishment fired gunshots at the employee. The employee returned fire which fatally struck the suspect. Police were able to recover from the deceased a handgun with ammunition. Police investigations continue.

Shotgun and Drugs Found In Freeport Building

On Tuesday 22/3/2011 at about 12:30 pm DEU officers of Freeport acting on information, proceeded to an abandoned two storey building situated on Adventures Way where a search of a building was conducted. This resulted in a brown handle sawed off shotgun along with a plastic zip lock bag containing a small quantity of suspected marijuana being found in a section of the building. Investigations into this matter are continuing by officers from the Central Detective Unit.

Court Monitered Man Arrested With Two Guns

On Saturday 19/3/11, police received information that a male was seen with a firearm stuck in his waist in the area of Yellow Elder Park. Officers reported that while in the area of Graham Drive, Yellow Elder, they observed a male fitting the given description. As a result, the suspect stopped and searched where two (2) weapons namely; one (1) 9mm and one (1) .40 Barretta pistol was found in his possession. He was then arrested and taken into custody. Additional information was later received that the suspect is presently being monitered by the Electronic Monitoring System. Police investigation continues.

Freeport: Man Found With Gun And Ammunition

On Friday 18/3/11 sometime around 10:15am, officers from Freeport Grand Bahama while on enquires in the area of Cora's Place, situated on Sergeant Major Road observed a male suspect that was wanted for questioning. Shortly after approaching the suspect, he ran away. Duriing this time, officers observed what appeared to be a firearm fall from the suspect's person. He was caught some distance away and a 9mm handgun was collected. A search of the suspect was then conducted where a magazine containing 28 rounds of 9mm ammunition was found. He was taken in custody. Police investigation continues.

Two Guns With Ammunition Found As Suspects Flees

On Thursday 16/3/11 sometime around 7:30 pm, while acting on information, police officers executed a search warrant on a residence on Toote Shop Corner. Upon arrival at the residence, two males fled from the porch area and made good their escape. As a result, a check of the residence was made and two (2) handguns along with 17 live rounds of amunition was found. No one was taken into custody. Police investigation continues.

Freeport: Two Men Arraigned For Murder

At 10:00am this morning, Monday 14th March, 2011, Johnathan McKenzie DOB 3rd August, 1989 and Darieo Demetrius Smith DOB 10th October, 1992, both of Freeport were arraigned in Magistrate's Court No.1, Freeport before Magistrate Debbye Ferguson on the charge of Murder. The arraignment of the two men is in relation to the first homicide for Grand Bahama Island. The deceased man, Tamaro Johnson DOB 4th July, 1986 of Weddell Avenue, Garden Villas, Freeport succumbed to his injuries (stabbing) on Monday afternoon, 7th March, 2011 which he received while at Club Rock N Roll in the Freeport International Bazaar early Sunday morning, 6th March, 2011.

On Monday 14/3/11 at about 3:05am, officers from the West End Police Station on were mobile patrol, and acting on information received, they stopped and search a male who was standing in the area of Mary Magdalene Church on Queens Highway, West End. During the search of his person, the officers discovered a .357 chrome magnum with seven live rounds of ammunitions. He was arrested and taken into police custody along with the firearm and ammunitions. Investigations are continuing in this matter.

On Monday 7/3/11 shortly before 7:00 pm, police received information of an attempted armed robbery at Miracle Cut Barber Shop, Moore Avenue and Palm Beach Street. Police responded and information received is that a light skin male armed with a handgun entered the establishment and demanded the cash. It is reported that a customer and two employees got into an altercation with the culprit which resulted in the culprit being disarmed. The males held the culprit at bay and handed him over to police along with a handgun and ammunition. The suspect is a 17 year old of Farrington Road. Police investigations continue.

On Wednesday 2/3/11 sometime around 3:55 am officers of the Central Detective Unit were on routine patrol on Nassau Street when they observed the occupants of a Gray Ford Taurus, a Honda vehicle with a deflated tire and a silver Maxima, traveling at a high rate of speed. Officers pursued the vehicles into the Bain Town area. It is reported that the occupants of the Honda vehicle, which was in the center of the convoy stopped and made good their escape. Officers continued pursuit of the gray Taurus and caught up with the occupant after his vehicle crashed on Meeting Street and recovered a handgun with ammunition. On Monday 7/2/11 sometime around 5:15pm, police officers acting on information executed a search warrant at a residence on Bass Lane. Upon their arrival at the mentioned residence, the officers identified themselves and enquired for a suspect, who was later located on the inside along with five other males. A search was conducted and as a result, officers found a .357 Revolver with (5) five live .357 rounds of ammunition along with a quantity of suspected marijuana. On Monday 7/2/11 sometime around 7:43 pm officers of the Central Division acting on information proceeded to McCullough Corner, where they observed a male acting suspiciously.The male on seeing the police fled into a nearby home. On Monday 7th February, 2011 sometime around 5:00 am officers of the Carmichael Road Police Station was on routine patrol in the Blue Heights area when they observed a grey vehicle occupied male occupant acting suspiciously. The vehicle was later stopped where officers conducted a search of the male and his vehicle and recovered a handgun with 11 rounds of ammunition. The 30 year old of Big Pond was taken into custody.The suspect is believed to be responsible for an earlier shooting. Police investigations continue.

Major Housebreaking Ring Smashed. Two Suspects In Custody.

Police at the Western Division, including Cable Beach and Lyford Cay Stations uncovered what is believed to be a major House Breaking Ring. It is believed that this ring operated in Lyford Cay Community and their activities may have dated back as far as two years.

On Sunday 6th February, 2011, officers from the Lyford Cay Police Station, armed with a Search Warrant, travelled to Nassau Village where they executed a search on a dwelling home. The search revealed a quantity of lap tops, computers, watches, jewelry, silver ware, television sets, colognes, figurines, hundreds of dollars, personal effects, household items and a variety of other items. While Police have not yet been able to determine the exact value of these items, officers are satisfied that they are worth thousands of dollars.

Currently, two persons are in police custody and others are being actively pursued. At the appropriate time, persons who may have been victims of thefts in the Lyford Cay Community will be invited to view these items with a view to assisting in identifying their properties.

Commissioner of Police, Ellison Greenslade, wishes to commend the hard working team of officers; including Detectives from the Central Detective Unit for their outstanding performance.

Special commendations are also given to those members of the public that assisted in this significant and notable breakthrough.

On Sunday 6th February 2011, at 2:00 am, the crew of Rapid Strike went to Larry's Pub at Cordeaux Avenue where they arrested an adult male of Palm Beach Street, Nassau on suspicion of being in possession of an illegal firearm. The suspect was taken into custody and a search of his person was conducted which revealed a .25 Raven Pistol along with five rounds of ammunition and one spent.25 casing. He is expected to be charged.

Quantity Of Drugs And Gun Found In Home

On Saturday 29/1/11 shortly after 9:00 pm, officers of the Drug Enforcement Unit acting on information went to a home at Shady Lane off Burial Ground Corner. On arrival to the home, persons were heard on the inside as officers attempted to gain entrance. Upon entry, it was discovered that the occupants had fled. A search of the home was conducted revealing a handgun gun with an assortment of ammunition. Additionally, eighteen (18) pounds of suspected marijuana and a half (1/2) pound of suspected cocaine were found. The marijuana has a street value of eighteen ($18,000) thousand dollars and the cocaine a street value of three ($3,000.00) thousand dollars. Police are following significant leads into this matter. On Thursday 27th January, 2011 sometime in the evening, officers of Rapid Strike were on patrol on McKinney Drive off Carmichael Road when they observed two males standing next to a vehicle, acting suspiciously. As officers began to approach the male suspects, one of them ran and was shortly apprehended where he was discovered with a handgun with ammunition in his possession. It was later discovered that the suspect had robbed the other male standing next to the vehicle of an undetermined amount of cash. Police are continuing their investigation into this matter.

On Thursday 27/1/11 sometime around 9:00 pm police received information of gunshots being heard in the Golden Isles area. Officers responded and observed a vehicle occupied by two (2) males acting suspiciously. The culprits on seeing the police pulled off. Officers pursued the vehicle and caught up with the occupants while in the Golden Isles area. Officers conducted a search of the vehicle and recovered both a handgun and a rifle with ammunition. The two males ages 28 and 25 years were taken into custody. A short while later, officers acting on additional information, executed a search warrant on the culprit's home where two additional handguns with a large quantity of ammunition were recovered. A 27 year old female was also taken into custody. Police investigations continue.

On Wednesday 26/1/11, sometime after midnight, Police Officers in a marked police vehicle received information which alerted them to a suspect who was reportedly armed with an illegal firearm. The officers proceeded to Fritz Lane, Nassau, where they questioned and searched an adult male and found in his possession a high velocity rifle with (7) live hollow tip rounds of ammunition. Gun and ammunition recovered in Armed Robbery

Police Officers responded to a call from a citizen of an armed robbery at Gibbs Corner, Nassau, during which a vehicle was taken from the victim. As a result of an all points bulletin, officers on mobile patrol intercepted the stolen vehicle at East Street South and recovered one (1) 9MM pistol and 18 live rounds of ammunition. The suspect exited the vehicle and was able to escape capture. An intense search is underway to locate the suspect in this matter.

Man found with gun and ammunition

On Monday 24/1/2011 sometime around 7:30pm, police officers executed a search warrant at the residence of an adult male located in the Carmichael Road area and found one (1) .40 glock pistol with 12 live rounds of ammunition. The suspect was arrested and is expected to be charged shortly.

Car Chop Shop Busted

Sometime around11:00 am on Friday 21/1/11, officers of the Central Detective Unit (CDU) acting on information, executed a search warrant on a wrecker place located in the Marathon Road area. Officers searched and recovered numerous car parts including radiators, assorted car doors, windshields, hoods, bumpers etc. Six (6) males were taken into custody. Police investigations are continuing.

19 Year Old Charged For Murder & HouseBreaking

On Tuesday 18/1/2011, during the evening, police officers from the Internal Security Division (ISD) arrested a 19 yr old male in the Soldier Road, Nassau, area for questioning reference to House breaking. He was subsequently questioned by detectives in relation to the murder of a 17yrs old which took place on Soldier Road on 22/9/2010. He is charged and will appear in Court shortly.

Female Arrested at LPIA With 2 Kilos of Cocaine

On Thursday 20/1/2011, sometime after 9:00PM, police officers at the Lynden Pindling International Airport, Nassau, working along with DEU officers and US Customs and Border Protection Officers, arrested an adult Bahamian female who was found in possession of a quantity of suspected Cocaine (in excess of two Kilos). She is expected to be charged.

On Thursday 20/1/2010, Operation Rapid Strike while patrolling the streets of New Providence, made several arrest during the evening. Eight (8) persons were arrested for outstanding Warrants of Apprehension and one (1) for Possession of Dangerous Drugs. Additionally, 92 name checks were made throughout the night.

Two Men Found With Gun and Ammunition

On Wednesday 19 January 2010, during the evening, Drug Enforcement Officers while on enquiries in the area of Eneas Street off Poincianna Drive, stopped and searched a vehicle occupied by two men. During this search, one (1) black .9mm pistol containing one (1) magazine with (15) live rounds of ammunition was found. As a result of this discovery, both men were arrested and are being questioned. Charges are expected to follow.

Abaco: Tourist found with Gun and 138 Bullets

On Thursday 20 January 2011, at about 8:50 am, a police officer while at Marsh Harbour Airport enroute to New Providence, observed a male with a black case that aroused his suspicion. As a result, a search of the male was conducted and a black 9mm semi automatic pistol was found in his possession along with a magazine carrying (10) 9mm rounds of ammunition, an extended magazine with (32) rounds of ammunition and an additional (96) extra rounds of ammunition. The suspect, who is from the USA is detained and is being held for questioning. Charges are expected to follow.

Operation Rapid Strike:14 Suspects Arrested

The Rapid Strike Units during the tour of duty for 19/1/11 conducted mobile and foot patrols throughout the troubled areas of New Providence. The product of their efforts are as follows: Fourteen(14) persons were arrested: One (1) Possession of a .38 Revolver with five live rounds and a quantity of dangerous drugs; Four (4) Possession of Dangerous Drugs (two of which were with intent to supply); One(1) Suspected Stolen Vehicle; Eight (8) Warrants of Arrest; One Hundred Fourteen (114) name checks were conducted. The Half Bar situated Blue Hill Road South was closed after an inspection revealed outstanding breaches of the law.

Armed Robbery Foiled. Police Shot. Suspect Caught!

On Sunday 16 January, 2011 an armed robbery was reported at Snack Food Discount, Parkgate Road Nassau. A police car, which was on patrol, responded and the officers confronted the armed suspect as he was leaving the store. The suspect opened fire on the police thereby hitting and slightly wounding one officer. Notwithstanding, the officers were able to arrest the suspect and retrieved a weapon from him.

Drug Bust at LPIA

On Sunday 16th January, 2011 sometime around 9:55 am officers of the Drug Enforcement Unit were at the Lynden Pindling International Airport when they arrested two (2) Bahamian males after disembarking a private aircraft that originated in the Turks and Caicos Island. Officers conducted a search of the males and discovered 16 packages of suspected cocaine, in a suitcase carried by one of the males. The male's ages 38 and 45 years were taken into custody. Police investigations continue.

Web Cafe Robbers Arrested. Shotgun Recovered.

On Friday 14 January 2011, officers from the Marsh Harbour Police Station arrested three male suspects of Abaco believed to be responsible for the armed robbery of Chances Web Shop in Abaco, that occurred on 09/1/11. As a result of this arrest, one (1) 20 gauge shotgun was recovered along with a small amount of suspected marijuana. All three male suspects are expected to be charged for this incident.

Handgun Recovered as Suspect Flees

On Thursday 13/1/11 at 10:46am, police officers on patrol in the area of Joe Farrington Road went in pursuit of a suspect on a motorcycle who upon seeing the police, opened fired on them with an illegal handgun. Police officers returned fire and the suspect dropped his weapon and fled making good his escape. A Black Glock Pistol with an extended clip and six (6) live rounds of ammunition were recovered along with a motorcycle.

6 House Breaking Suspects Arrested in Eleuthera

On Sunday 09/1/2011, acting on information, police officers from Eleuthera and New Providence arrested six suspects in Eleuthera in relation to house breakings which recently occurred on that island. As a result of this arrest, (1) 20 guage shotgun along with (518) shotgun shells and (1) rifle were recovered. All 6 suspects were charged and appeared before the Magistrate's court today's date. They were all remanded to Her Majesty's Prison.

An adult male suspect was arrested at about 3:45pm todays date at Palm Tree Avenue; Nassau, for questioning in relation to a rape which occurred on 10/1/2011. He is expected to be charged shortly.

Murder Suspect Caught

A suspect in the murder of Rudolph Forbes, who was shot and killed on January 8, 2010 at Windsor place, was arrested by officers of the South Eastern Division and turned over to the Central Detective Unit in Nassau where he was questioned and charged. The suspect appeared before Magistrate Court #1 on a charge of Murder on January 13, 2010 at 2:00pm and was remanded to Her Majesty's Prison.

Suspect Found with Multiple Guns and Ammunition

At 1:15am on 13/1/11, the crew of Bravo Tango #20, reported to Police Control Room (PCR) that while on routine patrol in the Sunset Park area they observed a male walking in the area who, upon seeing the officers, began to act in a suspicious manner. As a result, the said male was approached and searched. He was found to be in possession of a black Glock .40 pistol with 8 live rounds of hollow tip ammunition. The suspect of Sunshine Park was arrested and taken to Carmichael Road Police Station where a more thorough search of his person was conducted. It was during this search officers discovered a second firearm, namely a black Glock .40 pistol and 15 live rounds of hollow tip ammunition. He is expected to be charged shortly.

Men Arrested, Shotgun Recovered!

Sometime around 10:50am on 12/1/11, DEU officers headed by the commander of the Drug Enforcement Unit were conducting special operations in the Farrington Road area when they observed a male standing in front of a residence. Upon seeing the officers, this male acted in a suspicious manner prompting the officers to approach him. While questioning this suspect, another male was about to emerge from the house but upon seeing the officers he quickly ran back inside. Officers then followed the suspect into the house where a search was conducted and a shotgun with the serial number erased was found under a bed. Three suspects were arrested. The matter was turned over to CDU for further investigations.

Man in wheelchair found with gun!

At 8:30 pm on 12/1/11, a team of officers from the Selective Enforcement Unit (SET) were on patrol in the Arundel Street area, when they observed a man (adult male) sitting in a wheelchair who aroused their suspicion. The officers searched the suspect, who is in fact a paraplegic, and found an illegal 9mm pistol in his rear pants pocket. He is expected to be charged and taken before the courts.
