NEW PROVIDENCE

POLICE CONFISCATE THREE (3) FIREARMS & ARREST THREE (3) MALES

In less than 24 hours officers from Operation Ceasefire inclusive of officers from the Royal Bahamas Defence Force arrested three (3) adult males and seized three (3) firearms in separate incidents.

In the first incident, around 8:40 p.m. on Saturday 30th March, 2024, officers acting on information proceeded to Mantol Street, Montel Heights, where they conducted a search of a 28-year-old male seated on a motorcycle and discovered a firearm.

The second firearm was confiscated shortly after 10:00 p.m. on Saturday 30th March, 2024 from a property off Nassau Street.

According to reports, officers acting on information proceeded to Infant View Road, where they observed two (2) males, who, upon seeing the officers fled and subsequently, evaded police. A search of the immediate area where they males were, revealed a firearm along with a quantity of ammunition, which was seized.

The third firearm was confiscated on Sunday 31st March, 2024, shortly after 1:00 a.m. from a residence on Lincoln Boulevard, after officers executed a search warrant on the residence and discovered the weapon with ammunition. As a result, the two (2) male occupants ages 53 and 21 were arrested.

Investigations into these matters will be conducted by the Anti-Gang & Firearm Investigation Task Force.

BAHAMAS DEPEARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS OFFICER ARRESTED

A 28-year-old male officer from the Bahamas Department of Correction Services (B.D.O.C.S) is in police custody after he was found attempting to smuggle electronic devices, along with a quantity of suspected marijuana into the correctional facility, located Fox Hill Road.

According to reports, shortly after 4:00 p.m. on Saturday 30th March, 2024 the officer, while reporting for duty presented himself at the security check point for routine mandatory screening, where they items were found and confiscated.

The drugs weighed and estimated 1.875 ounces with an estimated street value of two hundred, seventy-five ($275.00) dollars. Investigations are ongoing.

SUSPECT SURRENDERS TO POLICE, FOLLOWING STABBING INCIDENT

A 44-year-old man is being questioned by police regarding a stabbing incident that occurred on Friday 29th March, 2024, that has left an adult male hospitalized.

According to initial reports, the victim and the suspect while on Peardale Road got into an altercation which resulted in the suspect producing a sharp instrument and stabbing the victim multiple times. The victim was transported to the hospital, where he is listed in serious condition.

Following this incident, the suspect surrendered to police and was subsequently arrested. The Criminal Investigation Department is currently conducting investigations into the matter.

POLICE ARREST THREE (3) ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECTS

Police are questioning three (3) males, ages 20, 18 and 14 years in connection with an armed robbery that occurred on Saturday 30th March, 2024.

Preliminary reports indicate that shortly after mid-night a male was outside a residence on Sapodilla Boulevard off East Street south, when he was approached by four (4) males, three (3) of whom are known to him.

It is reported that the culprits physically assaulted and robbed the victim of a large amount of cash and fled the area on foot.

Acting on information, police arrested three (3) of the suspects and are actively in search of the fourth (4th) suspect. Police investigations into this matter continues.

POLICE SEEK ASSISTANCE IN LOCATING ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECTS

Police are requesting the public assistance in locating six (6) males responsible for three (3) separate armed robberies that occurred on Saturday 30th March, 2024.

The first incident reportedly occurred around 8:30 a.m. on Unison Road off Carmichael Road and resulted in a female being robbed an undisclosed amount of cash.

Preliminary reports indicate that the victim was on the outside of a property, when she was approached by an unknown male who brandished a firearm, held her at gunpoint, and robbed her.

The second incident reportedly occurred sometime around 9:50 p.m. at a residence on Yamacraw Hill Road.

According to initial reports, a male was sitting inside his vehicle when he was approached and subsequently robbed of his silver Nissan Note L/P #AQ5979, by two (2) males, both of whom were allegedly armed with firearms. The culprits reportedly fled the area west on Yamacraw Hill Road,followed by their accomplice in a silver Japanese vehicle.

The final incident reportedly occurred around 10:30 p.m. at a business establishment situated on Zion Boulevard.

According to reports, three (3) males one of whom was armed with a firearm, entered the establishment and demanded cash. It is reported that the gunman, fired the weapon while robbing the store of an undisclosed amount of cash, liquor and other items, and fled the area in a blue Japanese vehicle, traveling east along Zion Boulevard.

Police are aggressively investigating these incidents and appeal to members of the public, who may have information that can assist in locating the perpetrators to contact 911, 919, or the Criminal Investigation Department @ 502-9991/2, 502-9975/6. Furthermore, anonymous tips are also welcome through CRIME STOPPERS @ 328-TIPS (8477).

POLICE INVESTIGATE ALLEGED SEXUAL ASSAULT

Police are aggressively investigating an alleged sexual assault that occurred on Sunday 31st March, 2024.

Preliminary reports indicate that shortly after midnight, the 20 year old female was in the parking lot of a business establishment on Fire Trail Road east, when she was reportedly forced into a vehicle of a male known to her.

It is reported that the suspect drove the victim to the eastern district of New Providence where he attacked and sexually assaulted her. Police are following significant leads in this matter.

Investigations continue.

POLICE INVESTIGATE LATEST HOMICIDE

Police are investigating a fatal shooting incident that occurred on Saturday 30th March, 2024 in Lowe Sound, North Andros that claimed the life of a 30-year-old male.

Police were notified around 9:40 p.m. of gunshots being heard at a business establishment situated on Fire Road in Lowe Sound. Upon arriving at the location, responding officers found an unresponsive adult male lying on the outside of the establishment, with apparent gunshot injuries.

Emergency medical technicians responded to the scene, examined the victim, and determined that he showed no signs of life.

Initial reports indicate that the deceased was on the exterior of the establishment when he got into a verbal altercation with several unidentified individuals and was subsequently shot.
