NEW PROVIDENCE

POLICE PROBE LATEST HOMICIDE IN THE CAPITAL

An adult male in his early thirties has become the country’s latest murder victim following a fatal shooting incident that occurred shortly before 8:00 p.m. on Thursday 14th March, 2024.

Police were notified of gunshots emanating in the vicinity of Campbell Estates off Fire Trail Road East. Upon arrival, responding officers discovered a male lying outside a residence, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Preliminary reports indicate that the victim had just arrived at the residence when he was ambushed and subsequently shot multiple times by three males who exited a white vehicle.

Emergency medical technicians responded to the scene, examined the victim and they determined he showed no signs of life.

POLICE CONFISCATE SUSPECTED MARIJUANA

Officers from Operation Ceasefire seized two (2) pounds of suspected marijuana worth an estimated $2,000.00, on Thursday 14th March, 2024.

Initial reports revealed that shortly after 1:00 p.m., officers acting on intelligence seized the dangerous drugs that were discovered in the “Haitian Village,”situated off Montgomery Avenue in Flamingo Gardens.

No arrest was made in connection with this incident. Investigations continue into this matter.

MALE HOSPITALIZED FOLLOWING AN ASSAULT

A 25-year-old male has been hospitalized on Thursday 14th March, 2024, after he was reportedly assaulted by another male in the Bain Town community.

Preliminary reports indicate that shortly after 9:00 p.m., the victim was near a bar on West Street when he was approached by an unidentified male who struck him in the head with an unknown object before fleeing the area.

The victim sustained serious head injuries and is currently in serious condition at the hospital.

NORTHERN BAHAMAS

GRAND BAHAMA: ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS DETAINED

Law enforcement officers from the Royal Bahamas Police Force and Bahamas Department of Immigration in Grand Bahama apprehended six (6) illegal immigrants on Thursday 14th March, 2024.

Initial reports indicate that around 10:45 p.m., police and immigration officers, acting on information, arrived near Old Bahama Bay, where they conducted a search of nearby bushes and discovered three (3) undocumented Haitian nationals and three (3) undocumented Brazilians.

The illegal immigrants were detained by officers from the Bahamas Department of Immigration.

Investigations are ongoing.

BIMINI: POLICE QUESTION MALE FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT

Police in Bimini are questioning a 25-year-old male in connection with an alleged sexual assault incident that occurred between February 2024 and March 2024, involving a 13-year-old teen girl.

Investigations are ongoing.

BIMINI: POLICE SEEK STOLEN VESSEL

Police in Bimini seek the public’s assistance in locating the following vessel that was reportedly stolen on Thursday 14th March, 2024:

    1. A white and black 1985 19-foot boat, with a single 200 HP engine – stolen from Dolphin Quest. Porgy Bay

POLICE INVESTIGATE ARMED ROBBERY

An investigation is underway into an alleged armed robbery incident that occurred on Friday 15th March, 2024, at a business establishment on Charlotte Street.

Preliminary reports indicate that shortly after 8:00 a.m., an unknown male entered the establishment, confronted a female employee, held her at bay while brandishing a sharp object and reportedly stole a large sum of cash, belonging to the business, before fleeing the scene.
