NEW PROVIDENCE

MALE ARRESTED FOR FIREARM AND DRUG POSSESSION

Officers from the Mobile Division seized a loaded firearm and a quantity of suspected marijuana on Friday 16th February 2024, leading to the arrest of a 51-year-old male.

According to initial reports, around 1:45 p.m., officers conducted a routine stop-and-search of a motorist on Mason Street, off East Street. During the search of the lone male occupant, the items were discovered in his possession, resulting in his arrest.

At present, the estimated weight and street value of the suspected marijuana are unknown.

Investigations continue.

TEENS ARRESTED FOR ASSAULTING HOMELESS MALE

Police wish to advise that public, that two (2) teenagers are being questioned in connection with the beating of a homeless male, which was observed on various social media platforms.

The males, ages 16 and 17 were arrested around 10:00 p.m. on Friday 16th February 2024 at their residence on Taylor Street off East Street.

Police are aggressively in search of the remaining teens involved in the incident and encourage parents and guardians, whose children are involved, to turn them in to the nearest police station.

Investigations into this matter continues.

POLICE SEEK ASSISTANCE IN IDENTIFYING FAMILY OF HOMELESS MALE

Police are requesting public assistance in locating family members of the homeless male who was observed being assaulted by a group of teenagers on social media.

Presently, two (2) juvenile males are in custody, and police are aggressively in search of the remaining teens, along with their parents and/or guardians.

Additionally, the Criminal Investigations Department is actively investigating the matter in collaboration with the Department of Social Services.

Police wish to remind parents/guardians that they are responsible for the actions of their children, and when they breach the law, parents will be held accountable, as well as their children.

Investigations into this matter are ongoing.

POLICE INVESTIGATE AIRCRAFT CRASHED

Police have confirmed reports of an aircraft that crashed on Coral Harbour Road around 4:30 p.m. on Saturday 17th February, 2024.

Initial reports confirmed that the pilot, the sole occupant on board a Cessna 402 aircraft with Bahamas registration, took off from New Providence, en route to Andros, when he began experiencing issues with the aircraft and made an emergency landing.

The pilot was taken to the hospital by emergency medical services for further medical assessment.

Investigations continue.

Police seek the public’s assistance in finding the following vessel that was reported stolen in Bimini on Friday 16th February, 2024:

    1. A 48 ft. Sunseeker yacht, named “The Reserve”, registration #1289514
