NORTHERN BAHAMAS

GRAND BAHAMA: ARRAIGNMENT UPDATE

Donovan Hart, ahge 29, of New Providence, was arraigned in Court No. 3 on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, for Indecent Assault before Magistrate LaQuay Laing.

He pleaded not guilty and was granted bail in the sum of six thousand dollars ($6,000.00). The matter was adjourned until 09th June, 2024.

This incident pertains to a complaint that was formally reported to Grand Bahama authorities on Sunday, February 11th, 2024. In the complaint, Hart is charged with indecently assaulting a female relative who is a minor.

GRAND BAHAMA: THREE MEN ARRESTED FOR STABBING INCIDENT

Police in Grand Bahama arrested three (3) men in connection with a stabbing incident that occurred on Wednesday 14th February, 2024, leaving one man hospitalized.

According to reports, around 9:15 p.m., the victim was on the premises of a business establishment situated on Baloa Road when he got into an argument with a male known to him.

It is reported that during the dispute two (2) other males, approached the victim which resulted in the conflict escalating and one of males producing a knife and subsequently stabbing the victim.

The victim sustained multiple stab wounds and was transported by ambulance to the hospital, where he is being treated for serious injuries.

Officers from the Criminal Investigation Department later arrested the three (3) suspects, aged 21, 20, and 19, at their respective homes. Investigations are ongoing into this matter.

GRAND BAHAMA: TWO DRUG SEIZURES, ONE ARREST MADE

Police in Grand Bahama confiscated a quantity of suspected marijuana in two (2) separate incidents on Wednesday 14th February, 2024.

In the first incident, officers from the Central Division executed a search warrant at a residence on Schooner Lane around 4:20 a.m. During the search, a large quantity of suspected marijuana was found and seized. The three male occupants, aged 43, 38, and 28 were arrested.

The total estimated weight and street value of the suspected dangerous drugs are currently unknown.

In the second incident, officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit, acting on information, conducted a search of a bushy area off Sunridge Road around 9:00 p.m., where they discovered a large quantity of suspected marijuana. No arrests were made in connection with this incident.

The suspected marijuana weighed 5.5 pounds, with an estimated street value of $5,500.00.

The Drug Enforcement Unit will continue investigations into both incidents.

BIMINI: MALE ARRESTED FOR FIREARM POSSESSION

Police in Bimini confiscated a loaded firearm and arrested an adult male on Wednesday 14th February, 2024, around 5:20 p.m.

Preliminary reports indicate that officers were conducting routine road checks on Queens Highway when they stopped and searched a motorcyclist. Upon searching his motorcycle, a firearm containing ammunition was discovered, leading to the arrest of the 28-year-old male.

Investigations are ongoing into this incident.

NEW PROVIDENCE

THREE MALES ARRESTED FOR ARMED ROBBERY

Three males aged 19, 17, and 16 are being questioned by police in connection with an armed robbery incident that occurred on Thursday 15th February, 2024.

Initial reports indicate that shortly after 2:00 p.m., the victim was repairing a motorcycle on Malcolm Road west when two (2) unknown gunmen approached him. It is reported, the culprits robbed him of the motorcycle and fled the area on foot.

Officers from the Southeastern Division quickly responded, successfully recovering the stolen motorcycle and arresting one of the suspects on Thatch Palm Avenue; however, one of the males ran upon seeing the officers making good on his escape.

Subsequently, the male who initially fled along with a third male surrendered themselves at the Southeastern Division. Investigations are ongoing into this incident.

SUPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding ten (10) students who became suddenly ill at a private institution located off Tonique Darling-Williams Highway.

According to preliminary reports, police were alerted around 12:15 p.m. on Thursday 15th February, 2024, when the students started experiencing dizziness, vomiting, and becoming faint while participating in physical education activities.

The students were transported to the hospital by an ambulance and are presently under observation. Investigations are ongoing into this incident.
