NEW PROVIDENCE

POLICE INVESTIGATE ARMED ROBBERY

Police are searching for two male suspects who reportedly robbed a male of his burgundy Nissan Cube L/P #AH2150 around 3:30 a.m. on Tuesday 13th February 2024 in the Soldier Road area.

Preliminary reports indicate that the victim was seated in his vehicle outside a residence on Frazier Allotment when he was approached by two (2) unknown males. It is reported that one of the males produced a firearm and robbed him of his vehicle. Both culprits left in the stolen vehicle, heading south towards Soldier Road.

If this vehicle is seen, members of the public are asked to contact police at 919/911, the Criminal Investigations Department at 502-9991/2/3, Crime Stoppers at 328-TIPS or visit the nearest Police Station.

MEDIA COVERAGE

On Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at 12:45 p.m., the Carmichael Urban Renewal Centre, in collaboration with Minister of Housing and Urban Renewal Keith R. Bell, will conduct a walkabout throughout the Carmichael Constituency accompanied by a professional Pest Exterminator.

As part of the "Small Home Repairs" initiative, officers, along with Minister Bell, will be conducting home assessments for residents and offering assistance to those in need of extermination services.

We kindly request media coverage for this initiative. In addition, we kindly request that media representatives attending the event arrive at the Carmichael Urban Renewal Center no later than 12:30 p.m.

FOUR FIREARMS & A LARGE QUANTITY OF AMMUNITION CONFISCATED IN JOINT OPERATION

A collaborative effort between officers from the Anti-Gang & Firearm Investigation Task Force, the Central Intelligence Bureau, Mobile Division, and the Real Time Crime Center, along with the Bahamas Customs Department K-9 Section has resulted in a high powered weapon and three (3) handguns being confiscated on Monday 12th February, 2024.

Preliminary reports indicate that officers conducted surveillance on a business establishment in southern New Providence where a male was observed retrieving packages suspected of having contrabands. A search of the packages, revealed the weapons and an assortment of ammunition.

The 30-year-old male of Nassau Village was arrested, and is currently being electronically monitored for possession of unlicensed firearm, ammunition, and possession of dangerous drugs with intent to supply. Active investigations are ongoing into this incident.

WANTED SUSPECT SURRENDERS TO POLICE

Police wish to advise that 60 year old JAMES COAKLEY alias “KILLER COAKLEY” is in police custody.

Coakley surrendered to police shortly before 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday 13th February, 2024 and was subsequently arrested.
