5 WEAPONS AND MORE THAN 400 ROUNDS OF AMMUNITION SEIZED BY POLICE

A zero-tolerance stance by The Royal Bahamas Police Force to taking weapons off the streets resulted in the recovery of four (4) pistols, one (1) rifle, and four hundred thirteen (413) rounds of ammunition.

These confiscated firearms and ammunition were successfully recovered by officers from the Tourism Patrol Unit in New Providence, Southwestern Division in New Providence, Drug Enforcement Unit in Grand Bahama, and Exuma, during the week of February 05th to February 11th, 2024.

Five (5) adult males and an adult female have been formally charged by the Anti-Gang & Firearm Investigation Task Force with Possession of an Unlicensed Firearm and Ammunition.

The Royal Bahamas Police Force remains committed to the ongoing efforts of crime reduction and creating safer communities.

NEW PROVIDENCE

ARRAIGNMENT

Police wish to inform the public that on Monday 12th February, 2024, at 10:00 a.m., the Anti-Gang and Firearm Investigation Task Force will place a 25-year-old male before the Magistrate Court who has been formally charged with the following offences:

  • (2) Counts of Importation of a Firearm into the Commonwealth of the Bahamas
  • (2) Counts Importation of Ammunition into the Commonwealth of the Bahamas
  • Conspiracy to Import Firearms into the Commonwealth of the Bahamas
  • Conspiracy to Import Ammunition into the Commonwealth of the Bahamas

This is the conclusion of a police investigation into the discovery of two weapons and a quantity of ammunition illegally imported into the Bahamas in March 2020.
