NORTHERN BAHAMAS

OPERATION “SNATCH ‘EM” YIELDS POSITIVE RESULTS

The Eight Mile Rock Division in Grand Bahama conducted operation “Snatch ‘Em” on Warren J. Levarity Highway.

On Thursday 08th February, 2024, from the hours of 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., the operation focused on prolific offenders and motorists that failed to adhere to the traffic laws and regulations.

Overall, Operation Snatch ‘Em resulted in the issuance of thirty-eight (38) traffic citations.

Drivers were reminded to obey the speed limit and comply with all Road Traffic Regulations of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas to avoid appearing before The Magistrate’s Court.

NEW PROVIDENCE

ARRAIGNMENT

Police wish to inform the public that on Friday 09th February, 2024, at noon, the Criminal Investigation Department will place two (2) adult males aged 20 and 21 who have been formally charged with the offence of Murder before the Magistrate’s Court.

This is in connection with the fatal shooting incident that occurred on Saturday 03rd February, 2024, in the Yamacraw Beach Estates area, which claimed the life of an adult male.

In addition, the 20-year-old male is charged in relation to a shooting incident that resulted in the death of an adult male on Friday 19th January, 2024, in the vicinity of West End Avenue and Market Street.

NORTHERN BAHAMAS

TWO MALES ARRESTED: DANGEROUS DRUGS CONFISCATED: ABACO

Police have taken two males, aged 52 and 37, from Marsh Harbour and Spring City, Abaco, respectively, into custody after they were found in possession of a quantity of dangerous drugs.

The incident reportedly occurred on Thursday 08th February 2024, at 2:45 p.m.

According to reports, officers attached to the Marsh Harbour Police Station were on routine patrol in the area of Murphy Town, Abaco, when they observed two males in nearby bushes acting suspiciously. Officers approached and searched the males, discovering a large quantity of suspected marijuana.

The drugs weighed 10 lbs. and were estimated to be valued at $10,000.00. Investigations continue.

MALE ARRESTED: DRUGS CONFISCATED: GRAND BAHAMA

A 35-year-old male from Mandeville Road, Hudson Estate is in police custody after he was found in possession of a quantity of suspected marijuana.

Initial reports revealed that on Thursday 08th February, 2024, sometime around 10:30 p.m., officers attached to the North Eastern Division made a check of a business establishment situated on East Sunrise Highway, where a male was found at the rear of the establishment. Officers performed a search on the male and discovered a quantity of suspected marijuana.

The weight and value of the suspected dangerous drugs are unknown at this time. Investigation continues.

NEW PROVIDENCE

POLICE INVESTIGATE LATEST SHOOTING INCIDENT

Police are actively investigating a shooting incident within the Pinewood Gardens community that injured a 23-year-old male.

The incident reportedly occurred around 9: 30 a.m. on Friday 09th February, 2024.

Initial reports indicate that the victim and a male relative were engaged in a dispute outside a residence on Spruce Avenue when the argument escalated, resulting in the victim being shot by the relative, who then fled the scene on foot, making good on his escape.

The victim sustained a gunshot wound to his lower body and was transported to the hospital via ambulance for further medical attention. He is currently in stable condition.

FAMILY ISLANDS

EXUMA: FIREARM CONFISCATED, MALE ARRESTED

Police in Exuma are questioning an adult male regarding a firearm confiscation that occurred on Thursday 08th February, 2024, around 8:40 p.m.

According to preliminary reports, officers, acting on information, conducted a search of a bushy area in Moss Town where they discovered and confiscated a loaded firearm, leading to the arrest of a 23-year-old male.

Investigations into this incident are underway.
