NEW PROVIDENCE

POLICE INVESTIGATE DOUBLE SHOOTING

An investigation is underway into a shooting incident that occurred on Saturday 03rd February, 2024, resulting in two (2) adult males being injured.

The incident occurred at a residence on Quarry Mission Road, off Nassau Street, around 7:30 p.m.

Initial reports indicate that the victims, aged 33 and 19, were outside when a white Japanese model vehicle approached. It is reported that two (2) unknown male occupants emerged and discharged gunshots in their direction, resulting in the 33-year-old being shot to the abdomen and the 19-year- old being shot in the left arm. The culprits returned to their vehicle and fled the scene, making good on their escape.

Both victims were transported to the hospital by ambulance for medical attention. The 33-year-old is currently in critical condition, while the 19-year-old is in stable condition.

Police are appealing to anyone with information regarding this latest shooting to please contact 911, 919, or the Criminal Investigation Department at 502-9991. Anonymous tips are also welcomed through CRIME STOPPERS @ 328-TIPS (8477).

POLICE SEIZE TWO (2) FIREAERMS & OVER 70 ROUNDS OF AMMUNITION

A successful joint operation carried out by officers of the Royal Bahamas Police Force and the Royal Bahamas Defence Force led to the seizure of a high-powered weapon, one handgun, and over seventy (70) rounds of ammunition.

Preliminary reports indicate that around 2:30 p.m. on Sunday 04th February, 2024, officers acting on information, proceeded to the area of Molly Street off Robinson Road, where they conducted a search of an abandoned structure and discovered the items. No arrest was made in connection with this incident. Investigation continues.

POLICE INVESTIGATE ALLEGED SUICIDE

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the alleged suicide of an adult female believed to be in her thirties (30).

Preliminary reports indicate that shortly after 3:00 p.m. on Sunday 04th February, 2024 police were alerted to reports that a distressed female allegedly jumped from the eastern bridge into waters, located off East Bay Street.

The victim was reportedly retrieved from the water by persons onboard a passing vessel who administered CPR until the arrival of EMS personnel, who attempted resuscitation but was unsuccessful.

The female is described as having a large build, a dark complexion, and wearing a black sweater top and white short pants. Police are actively investigating and urge members of the public who may not have seen a loved one recently, to contact 911, 919, or the Criminal Investigation Department at 502-9991/2 or 502-9975/6.

POLICE INVESTIGATE LATEST SHOOTING INCIDENT

An adult male is hospitalized following a shooting incident that occurred in Yellow Elder Gardens on Sunday 04th February, 2024.

Preliminary reports indicate, that shortly before 4:00 p.m. the victim, age 55 years was standing outside his residence when two males exited a small white Japanese vehicle and fired gunshots at him, causing injuries to his thigh and right hand.

The victim was transported to the hospital by a private vehicle, where, at present, his condition is stable. Police are actively investigating this incident, and are appealing to members of the public, who may have any information that can assist in locating the perpetrators to contact them.

POLICE ARREST TWO (2) MALES REFERENCE TO SEXUAL ASSAULT

Quick response by police in Grand Bahama has resulted in a 54-year-old male of Eight Mile Rock and a 40-year-old male of South Bahamia being arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting two (2) females on Sunday 04th February, 2024.

Preliminary reports indicate that the incident occurred shortly after 12:00 noon, while the females were visiting a beach in Central Grand Bahama. Active police investigations continue into this matter.

EXUMA POLICE MAKE DRUG ARREST

A 48-year-old male, along with a 43-year-old female are in police custody after they were found in possession of a package containing suspected Cocaine. Police on Exuma arrested the duo around 7:30 p.m. on Sunday 04th February 2024 after conducting a search of their residence in Rokers Point and discovered the drugs, which weighed one (1) pound and have an estimated street value of nine thousand ($9,000.00) dollars. Police investigations into this matter continues.
