NEW PROVIDENCE

POLICE CONFISCATE FIREARM AND ARREST AN ADULT MALE Police from the Mobile Division arrested a 21-year-old male on Thursday 25th January, 2024, around 4:50 p.m. for firearm possession.

Initial reports indicate that the officers, acting on information, arrived on East Street and Robinson Road, in the vicinity of a business establishment. A search of the suspect was conducted and the firearm, containing ammunition, was discovered, leading to his arrest.

The Anti-Gang and Firearms Unit will continue with the investigations.

NORTHERN BAHAMAS

GRAND BAHAMA: OPERATION YIELDS POSITIVE RESULTS The Traffic Division in Grand Bahama conducted road checks on Thursday 25th January, 2024, between the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

The road checks resulted in thirty (30) individuals being cited.

The public is encouraged to abide by all laws governing the Commonwealth of The Bahamas, as failure to do so, will result in person’s being placed before The Magistrate’s Court.

GRAND BAHAMA: ARRAIGNMENT UPDATE On Thursday 25th January, 2024, Justin Seymour, age 27 of Freeport, was arraigned in the Supreme Court on three (3) counts of Child Abduction.

He pled guilty and was sentenced to three (3) years to run concurrently.

This is in connection with incidents that occurred between 07th December, 2022, and 08th January, 2023.

MALE SUSPECT ARRESTED FOR FIREARM POSSESSION & AMMUNITION

Officers from the Criminal Investigation Department arrested a 28-year-old male on Friday 26th January, 2024, after he was found in possession of an illegal firearm containing ammunition.

According to preliminary reports, shortly before 3:00 p.m., officers were conducting inquiries in the area of Talbot Street, Nassau Village, when they encountered the 28-year-old male, who is known to police.

It is reported that upon seeing the police, the male fled and was seen removing a firearm from his waist. He was pursued, caught, and the weapon was recovered.

The Anti-Gang & Firearms Investigation Task Force will investigate this incident further.

NORTHERN BAHAMAS

GRAND BAHAMA: OPERATION YIELDS POSITIVE RESULTS Police in Grand Bahama have confiscated a firearm on Thursday 25th January, 2024, around 11:30 p.m.

Preliminary reports indicate that officers acting on information, proceeded to a track road off Julia Corner in Jones Town where they conducted a search of an abandoned vehicle and discovered the weapon.

Investigations are ongoing into this matter.

GRAND BAHAMA: ARRAIGNMENT REVISED Police wish to inform members of the public that Justin Seymour, age 27, of Freeport, pleaded guilty to three (3) counts of Child Abduction, in connection with incidents that occurred between January 08th, 2021, and December 07th, 2022.

After being arraigned in the Supreme Court on Thursday, January 25th, 2024, he was convicted and sentenced to three (3) years to run concurrently.

FAMILY ISLANDS

ELEUTHERA: OPERATION YIELDS POSITIVE RESULTS

Police on the island of Eleuthera, in collaboration with the Bahamas Department of Immigration, conducted a joint operation titled “Persistent Pressure” on Thursday 25th January, 2024.

During the operation, Police Officers arrested three (3) individuals for possession of dangerous drugs and issued forty-eight (48) citations to motorists for various traffic infractions.

Additionally, officers from the Department of Immigration stopped and screened twenty-nine (29) individuals leading to the detention of four (4) individuals for immigration purposes.

Police wish to remind the public that these operations will be ongoing throughout the islands of the Bahamas; hence, the public is encouraged to adhere to all laws governing the Commonwealth of the Bahamas, as ANY violations will lead to individuals being placed before the Magistrate’s Court.
