NEW PROVIDENCE

POLICE CONFISCATE FIREARM: SUSPECT ARRESTED A 28-year-old male is in police custody after he was arrested by officers from Operation Cease Fire, inclusive of officers from the Royal Bahamas Defence Force, on Monday 15th January, 2024, following the confiscation of a firearm and a quantity of ammunition.

Preliminary reports indicate that around 9:20 p.m., officers conducted a routine stop-and-search of the 28-year-old’s vehicle while in the vicinity of Cooper’s Terrace off Kemp Road. During the search, officers found a firearm containing ammunition inside the vehicle, which led to his arrest.

Investigations are ongoing into this incident.

NORTHERN BAHAMAS

POLICE INVESTIGATE CHILD NEGLECT: BIMINI Police in Bimini are investigating the circumstances surrounding an incident that has left a 2-yearold female hospitalized after ingesting suspected marijuana treats.

The incident reportedly occurred shortly after 12:00 p.m. on Monday 15th January, 2024.

Preliminary reports revealed that police were alerted by medical personnel at the local community clinic that the toddler was unresponsive after she allegedly ingested edible marijuana gummies.

The toddler was examined by the local medical doctor, and subsequently airlifted to New Providence to seek further medical attention.

A 27-year-old female is assisting police with this ongoing investigation.

NEW PROVIDENCE

WANTED SUSPECT APPREHENDED BY POLICE A 42-year-old male wanted in connection with Fraud has been arrested by officers from Operation Cease Fire inclusive of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force.

According to initial reports, shortly before 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday 16th January, 2024 officers acting on intelligence went to a business establishment located on Malcolm Road where the adult male, was apprehended. He is assisting police with their ongoing investigation.

In addition, just before noon, while conducting inquiries at a known "Hot Spot" in the Kennedy Subdivision, police acting on intelligence arrested four individuals, ages 24, 20, 17, and 16, for organized crime.

Police wish to remind the general public that a zero tolerance enforcement throughout the capital is ongoing; hence, the public is encouraged to abide by all laws governing the Commonwealth of the Bahamas, as failure to do so will result in persons being placed before the Magistrate’s Court.

NORTHERN BAHAMAS

POLICE MAKE SIGNIFICANT DRUG SEIZURE: GRAND BAHAMA Police in Grand Bahama have arrested a father and son, ages 58 and 29, after they were found in possession of a large quantity of suspected marijuana.

According to reports, shortly before noon on Tuesday 16th January 2024, officers attached to the Drug Enforcement Unit and Anti-Gang and Firearms Unit, acting on intelligence, executed a search warrant on a residence located in Farnham Close, where they confiscated the drugs.

The suspected marijuana weighed 13.5lbs and have an estimated street value of $13,500.00. Investigations continue.

POLICE CONFISCATE FIREARM: SUSPECT ARRESTED A 42-year-old male is in police custody after being arrested by officers from the Northwestern Division with the assistance of Operation Cease Fire, which included officers from the Royal Bahamas Defence Force, on Tuesday, 16th January, 2024, following the confiscation of a firearm and ammunition.

According to preliminary reports, shortly before 5:00 p.m., officers acting on intelligence proceeded to a residence in the vicinity of Coconut Grove, where they discovered a firearm with ammunition inside the home, which ultimately led to the arrest of the 42-year-old suspect.

Investigations are ongoing into this incident.
