NEW PROVIDENCE

POLICE INVESTIGATE STABBING INCIDENT An investigation is underway into a stabbing incident that occurred on Tuesday 02nd January 2024, resulting in a 21-year-old female being hospitalized. Preliminary reports indicate that shortly before 3:00 a.m., the female victim was at a local nightspot located on St. Albans Drive when she was involved in an altercation with an unidentified female. The altercation escalated when the unknown female produced a sharp object and stabbed the victim in the abdomen. She was transported in a private vehicle to the hospital, where her condition is listed as serious. Investigations are ongoing.

NORTHERN BAHAMAS

BIMINI: POLICE INVESTIGATE DROWNING Police in Bimini are investigating the circumstances surrounding a drowning incident that claimed the life of a 75-year-old American female from Southport, North Carolina. The incident reportedly occurred on Monday 01st January 2024, shortly before 8:00 p.m. Preliminary reports indicate that the victim was onboard a sailboat moored at Honeymoon Harbor, and while transitioning from the sailboat to a dingy, she slipped and fell into the water. A family member quickly retrieved the victim from the water and immediately performed CPR before she became unresponsive. Subsequently, she was transported to the local clinic, where she was examined by the medical doctor, who declared her deceased. Investigation continues into the matter.

ABACO: DRUG CONFISCATION Police in Abaco apprehended two (2) men, aged 45 and 30, following a drug seizure. Preliminary reports indicate that shortly after 9:00 a.m. on Monday 01st January 2024, a team of officers executed a search warrant at a residence on Bootle Drive. During the search, a quantity of suspected marijuana was discovered, leading to the arrest of both men who were occupants of the home. The estimated weight and street value of the suspected dangerous drugs are currently unknown. Investigations continue.

NEW PROVIDENCE

POLICE INVESTIGATE SECOND HOMICIDE FOR THE NEW YEAR Police are investigating the death of a 31-year-old male who was fatally shot at a residence in South Beach on Tuesday 02nd January, 2024. Preliminary reports indicate that shortly before noon, the victim was outside a residence on Datura Avenue when an unknown male, armed with a firearm, entered the property. It is reported that the assailant chased the victim into his home and shot him multiple times before he fled the residence as an occupant on a scooter that was waiting nearby. The victim was assessed by emergency medical technicians, who determined that he showed no vital signs of life. In addition, during the initial investigation officers confiscated a firearm containing ammunition from the scene. Police are appealing to members of the public who may have any information that can help solve this matter to contact 919/911, the Criminal Investigation Department at 502-9991/2/3, or Crime Stoppers at 328-TIPS.

FAMILY ISLANDS

ELEUTHERA: ROAD CHECKS YIELDED POSITIVE RESULTS Officers from Harbor Island performed road checks at Three Island Dock on Monday, 01st January, 2024 between 6:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. in an effort to enforce road traffic rules and regulations. As a result of this effort, a total of forty (40) vehicles underwent inspection. In addition, law enforcement officers issued nineteen (19) citations to several drivers for a range of traffic violations, and arrested two individuals for possession of dangerous drugs.
