NEW PROVIDENCE

POLICE INVESTIGATE LATEST HOMICIDE

Police are currently investigating a fatal shooting incident that claimed the life of a 36-year-old male on Tuesday 16th April, 2024, in the Ridgeland Park community.

Initial reports indicate that around 10:15 p.m., the victim was walking on Antol Avenue when the occupants of a dark-colored Japanese vehicle pulled alongside him; one male exited, armed with a firearm, and opened fire on him, shooting him multiple times before fleeing. The victim, after being shot in the upper torso, managed to flee to the area of a business establishment, where he later collapsed.

Emergency medical personnel transported the victim to the hospital; however he succumbed to his injuries shortly thereafter.

Police are appealing to anyone, who may have additional information that can assist with the advancement of this matter, to contact 911, 919, the Criminal Investigations Department at 502- 9991/2/3, or Crime Stoppers at 328-TIPS (8477).

WOMAN IN CUSTODY FOR ATTEMPTED MURDER

A 23-year-old female is being questioned in connection with attempting to kill a 29-year-old male while in the area of Carmichael Road on Tuesday 16th April, 2024.

Initial reports indicate that shortly after 10:00 p.m., the victim and the suspect, both occupants of a gray Jeep vehicle, were involved in a verbal altercation that escalated. It is reported that upon the male exiting the vehicle near Hall Close on Carmichael Road, the female driver reportedly intentionally collided with him and fled the area, traveling east along Carmichael Road.

The victim sustained serious injuries, was transported to the hospital in a private vehicle, and is currently listed in serious condition.

The 23-year-old suspect later surrendered herself to police at the Western Police Station.

The Criminal Investigations Department are conducting further investigations into this incident.

OPERATION CEASEFIRE: FIREARM CONFISCATED

Officers from Operation Ceasefire inclusive of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force confiscated a firearm in the Yellow Elder Gardens area on Tuesday 16th April, 2024, just after 9:00 p.m.

According to initial reports, officers, while conducting mobile patrols on Derby Road, observed a group of males who ran upon noticing them. Despite a brief pursuit, the individuals managed to evade apprehension. However, a search of the area where they fled led to the discovery and confiscation of the weapon.

Investigations are ongoing into this matter by the Anti-Gang & Firearms Investigation Task Force.

POLICE CONFISCATES FIREARM & AMMUNITION

In two separate incidents, on Wednesday 17th April, 2024, police confiscated two (2) firearms with a quantity of ammunition, resulting in the arrest of two adults.

In the first incident, officers arrested a mother, 63 and son 42 after confiscating a firearm, and a quantity of ammunition from their residence located Dominica Street.

According to initial reports, shortly before 3:00 a.m., officers from the Anti-Gang & Firearms Investigation Task Force, acting on information, executed a search warrant at the residence, leading to the discovery of the items and the subsequent arrest of the duo.

In the final incident, officers from the Northeastern Division confiscated a firearm containing ammunition in the Kemp Road area.

According to preliminary reports, around 8:00 a.m., officers, acting on information, confiscated the weapon from a vacant lot situated in the vicinity of Apache and Knowles Road. No arrests were made in connection with this incident.

Investigations are ongoing into both of these incidents.

NORTHERN BAHAMAS

GRAND BAHAMA: POLICE CONFISCATE DRUGS

Police in Grand Bahama successfully seized a quantity of suspected marijuana on Tuesday 16th April, 2024.

Preliminary reports indicate that around 1:30 p.m., officers from the Northeastern Division, acting on information, arrived at an area off East Sunrise Highway where a search was conducted of the immediate area, leading to the discovery and confiscation of the dangerous drugs. No arrests were made in connection with this incident.

The estimated weight and street value are currently unknown. Investigations continue.

FAMILY ISLANDS

EXUMA: ARRAIGNMENT

On Tuesday 16th April, 2024, Ronald Dor, age 38 of Bahama Sound, was arraigned in Exuma’s Magistrate Court, before Magistrate Kelley, on Possession of an Unlicensed Firearm.

He pled guilty and was sentenced to two (2) years and six (6) months at the Bahamas Department of Corrections in New Providence.

The charges stem from an incident at a local fish fry in George Town, Exuma, on Monday 15th April, 2024, where Dor was found in possession of a firearm containing ammunition.

ELEUTHERA: POLICE CONFISCATE DANGEROUS DRUGS- SUSPECTS ARRESTED

Police on the island of Eleuthera successfully seized five (5) pounds of suspected marijuana, worth an estimated $5,000.00, leading to the arrest of two adult males.

Preliminary reports indicate that shortly after 2:00 p.m., on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, officers from the Rock Sound Police Station, acting on information and armed with a search warrant while at the public dock located in Rock Sound, conducted searches of multiple freight packages and discovered they contained dangerous drugs, leading to the subsequent arrest of the men involved.

Investigations continue.
