NEW PROVIDENCE

OFFICIAL LAUNCH OF THE RBPF TECHNOLOGY EXPO

Mr. Clayton Fernander, C.D., QPM, Commissioner of Police cordially invites the media to attend the inaugural launch of the Royal Bahamas Police Force Technology Expo under the theme “From Pixels to Protection: Innovation in Public Safety.”

The three (3) day Expo which highlights modern crime fighting technology will commence on Monday, April 8, 2024, at the Paul Farquharson Conference Center, Police Headquarters.

The opening ceremony will commence at 9:00 a.m. with the Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas, the Hon. Phillip Davis K.C., delivering the keynote address.

Immediately following the opening ceremony, the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Clayton Fernander C.D., QPM, will provide an update on the Homicide of Mr. Don Saunders, former Member of Parliament. Additionally, an update will also be provided on the six individuals shot on Peardale Road.

Media representatives attending are asked to arrive at the Paul Farquharson Center by 8:30 a.m.

MAN HOSPITALIZED AFTER SHOOTING INCIDENT

A 31-year-old male is hospitalized following a shooting incident that occurred on Sunday 07th April, 2024.

According to initial reports, shortly before 4:00 a.m. the victim, while driving easterly towards the intersection of Blue Hill and Wulff Road was accosted by the occupants of a silver Japanese vehicle who opened fire on his vehicle, resulting in him receiving gunshot injuries to his upper body.

The victim drove himself to the hospital, where he remains in stable condition.

Police are aggressively in search of the suspects and appeal to anyone with information regarding this matter to contact the Criminal Investigations Department at 502-9991/2/3, 919, 911, or Crime Stoppers at 328-TIPS (8477).

POLICE INVESTIGATE SEXUAL ASSAULT

Police are probing the allegations of a sexual assault reported by a 23-year-old female that occurred in South-Western New Providence on Sunday 07th April, 2024.

Initial reports revealed that shortly after midday, the victim was walking along Golden Isles Road, when she was approached by a male acquaintance in a silver Japanese vehicle. It is reported that the male produced a firearm, forced the female into his vehicle and drove her to a nearby track road where the attack took place.

It is further reported that, following the attack, the suspect robbed the victim of an undisclosed amount of cash and fled the area, making good on his escape.

Police are actively investigating this matter.

POLICE INVESTIGATE SEPARATE ARMED ROBBERIES

Police are currently investigating two (2) separate alleged armed robberies that took place on Saturday 06th April, 2024.

The first incident reportedly occurred around 9:30 p.m., outside a residence on Opulent Drive, off Carmichael Road.

Initial reports reveal that the driver of a red Nissan Juke, who arrived at a residence, was approached by two (2) unknown males, one of whom allegedly brandished a firearm, and robbed him of his vehicle before both culprits fled the area inside the stolen vehicle.

The second incident reportedly occurred shortly after 11:00 p.m. on Jean Street off Prince Charles Drive.

According to reports, the victim, on arrival at a residence, was approached by two (2) unknown gunmen who robbed her of her silver Nissan Note L/P #AZ6694 before fleeing the area, traveling South along Jean Street.

Police are investigating and appeal to members of the public to be on the lookout for the stolen vehicles. Anyone with information regarding any of these incidents, are urged to contact 911, 919, the Criminal Investigation Department at 502-9991/2/3, or anonymous tips can be provided through CRIME STOPPERS at 328-TIPS (8477).
