Police arrested six suspects after recovering 9 firearms in three separate incidents

The crime fighting strategies employed by the Royal Bahamas Police Force have resulted in the arrest of six males for being in possession of unlicensed firearms on Thursday 2nd, September 2021.

In the first incident, preliminary reports are that shortly after 1:00 p.m., officers from the X-Ray Unit while on routine patrol on University Drive, observed the occupants of a silver Honda Fit who aroused their suspicion. The vehicle was stopped, and a field search was conducted. During the search the officers discovered a 9mm pistol containing (9) nine unfired rounds of ammunition. As a result, two male suspects were arrested and taken into custody. Investigations into this matter are ongoing.

In the second incident, preliminary reports are that sometime after 2:00 p.m., officers from the Mobile Division while on patrol on Baillou Hill Road South, responded to a BOLO alert for a wanted suspect. They noticed the occupants of a red Nissan Note fitting the description of the vehicle given. The vehicle was stopped, and a field search was carried out. As a result of the search, the officers found a 9mm pistol containing (11) eleven rounds of unfired ammunition. Four male suspects were arrested and taken into custody. Investigation into this matter continues.

In the third incident, preliminary reports are that shortly after 5:00 p.m., officers from the Criminal Investigations Department acting on information went to a local business establishment on New Providence. On their arrival, management directed them to the unpacking area and stated that while unpacking inventory that recently arrived, they discovered (7) pistol in one of their boxes. The scene was processed, there was no one arrested in this incident. Investigation into this matter continue.
