SUDDEN DEATH OF AN AMERICAN CITIZEN ON BOARD A CRUISE SHIP

Police in Grand Bahama are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of an American visitor on board a Cruise Line.

Reports are that on Friday 19th January 2018, shortly after 12midday, officers received information of a sudden death on board a cruise line that travelled from Florida to the Bahamas. Officers of the Central Detective Unit responded and while on board were shown the lifeless body of an adult female. As a result of initial investigation an adult American male is assisting police with this investigation.

Police are actively investigating.

DANGEROUS DRUG ARREST-GRAND BAHAMA

A 34 year old male of Grand Bahama is in police custody after he was found in possession of a quantity of dangerous drugs.

Reports are that on Friday 19th January 2018, shortly before 5:00pm, police were called to the U.S Customs and Boarder Protection Agency at the Grand Bahama International Airport, where a male had presented himself for travel to the United States. The male appeared suspicious, was subsequently searched and a quantity of suspected cocaine was discovered strapped to his body. He was placed under arrested and taken into police custody. The street value of the suspected cocaine is $8,000.

Investigation is continuing in this matter.

POLICE INVESTIGATES DEATH OF MALE
Police are investigating the death of a man found in an abandon building on Thursday, 19th January, 2018.

Police responded to the old City Market Building on Market Street, shortly after 12:00noon, after receiving reports that a man was found in that building unresponsive. Paramedics were unable to revive the man, who had injuries to his head and body, and who appeared to be in his 50s. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

An autopsy will be performed to determine the exact cause of death. Investigations are ongoing.

BIMINI MISSING PERSON AND DROWNING
According to reports on Wednesday 17th January 2018 shortly before 8:00pm, police received a report of two males who were reportedly sitting in a small boat anchored at the rear of a business establishment and have not been seen since. A search was conducted by Law Enforcement Officials and Basra.

On Thursday 18th January 2018 shortly after 8:00am, the lifeless body of one male was discovered in waters in the area of the Bimini Harbor. A search will continue for the other male. Police are investigating this matter.

POLICE INVOLVED SHOOTING-ABACO
One male suspect is dead after he confronted police armed with a firearm in the Central Pines, Abaco area.

Reports are that on Friday 19th January 2018, shortly after midnight, police were called to a business establishment in the Central Pines area, where it was reported that a male armed with a firearm was discharging into the crowd. Officers responded quickly and confronted the suspect who was armed and who upon seeing the police pointed the firearm in their direction.

Officers then became in fear of their lives and discharged their police service firearm, hitting the suspect and fatally injuring him. He was pronounce dead at the scene.

A black tech-9 weapon, magazine and ammunition were recovered from the suspect. This matter will be referred to Her Majesty's Coroner.
