THE ENTRNCE EXAMINATIONS


All applicants will be required to sit an Entrance Examination if the basic academic qualifications are not met. The Entrance Examination is normally held between the hours of 9:00 am and 4:00 pm at the Police College. All candidates will be notified of the date of the examination and are required to present a photo I. D on entering the examination room. Candidates will also be notified of their exam results by a recruitment officer from the Police College within 3-4 weeks after the sitting of the examination.

The entrance examination will consist of Basic Mathematics, English and General Knowledge. It is advisable that you contact the Police College to enquire whether there are any scheduled classes for the examination. Subjects that may be covered on the mathematics exam are fractions, simple algebra, decimals, numbers, ratio and proportion, menstruation, angles and simple equations. The English exam consists of dictation, comprehension and composition. The passing marks for each exam is 60%

Examination Tips

  1. Try to get a good night sleep prior to taking the exam to ensure that you are focused and well rested.
  2. Arrive at the Police College at least 45 minutes before the scheduled examination time and try not to cram over the study material
  3. Dress appropriately when coming to sit the examination to reflect a good impression. Remember first impression last.
  4. Bring along with you two pencils and pens to the examinations session.
  5. Bring along a scientific calculator
  6. Read the instructions on the examination papers and make sure that you understand them. If you don't understand a question, ask the examiner to briefly describe and explain the question to you
  7. Cheating is strictly prohibited and you will be disqualified from the examination session and possibly and further examination exercises.

As mentioned earlier, all candidates will be informed by a recruitment officer within three to four weeks of their exam results. Based on your results, you will be informed and kept updated regarding your application. If for any reason that you were not successfull on the entry examination, speak to a recruitment officer to find out when you would be eligible to retake the exam.
