MR. SALATHIEL THOMPSON CMG, MVO, QPM, CPM
Commissioner of Police 1973 - 1980
Mr. Salathiel Thompson is originally from a small settlement called Bannerman Town, Eleuthera, which was named after one of the Governors of 1800s. Upon completing Eastern Senior School in Nassau, he joined the Police Force on October 11, 1937.
In August 1938, PC Thompson was posted to CID here he served for 15 years. There he was able to garner a good understanding of investigations. He progressed from Constable to Sergeant while working in this department. Read More

Commissioner of Police 1981 - 1987
Mr. Gerald Augustus Bartlett was born at Eight Mile Rock, Grand Bahama on 20th November, 1921 and received his education at Eight Mile Rock All Age School. On 10th October, 1946 he joined the then Bahamas Police Force as a Recruit Constable and underwent Five (5) months of training, after which, he was assigned to General Duties as an Orderly at Government House. Bernard Kenneth Bonamy was born on April I, I945 in Arthur’s Town, Cat Island Bahamas to Reverend and Mrs. Bertram Bonamy. He received his basic education while residing in Cat Island.
Following his graduation from the Arthur’s Town High School, where he obtained his BJCs, he migrated to New Providence. In New Providence, Bonamy sought employment with the Telecommunications Department as a clerk.Read More
MR. PAUL FARQUHARSON, QPM, BSc
Commissioner of Police 2001-2008
Mr. Paul Farquharson was born January 10, 1949, in Burnt Ground, Long Island to proud parents Ural Farquharson and Martha Knowles. His father, who was the head teacher at Glinton's All-Age School, left Long lsland for New Providence seeking urgent medical care.
Unfortunately, he succumbed to his illness. His mother left Long Island to attend the funeral, leaving young Paul, only 18 months at the time, in the custody of close friends Henry and Margaret Pratt.
MR. REGINALD FERGUSON
Commissioner of Police 2008-2010
Reginald Ferguson was born on the island of Acklins, Bahamas on May 13, 1946. He is the firstborn of Ernest and Ellamae Ferguson and grew up in the quaint settlement of Snug Corner. He received his formal education at the Snug Corner All Aged School.
As a young child his life was primarily centred on home, school and church. His favorite childhood pastimes were fishing on the rocks with “his boys” and playing softball.
Ellison Edroy Greenslade was appointed the sixth Commissioner of Police in an independent Bahamas on the 4th January 2010. He served as the Acting Deputy Commissioner of Police from 1st of January of 2009 upon completion of a one year secondment with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Canada.

Ellison Edroy Greenslade was appointed the sixth Commissioner of Police in an independent Bahamas on the 4th January 2010.
